The IDF tried for two (2) days to move people out of a school in the Beit Hanoun area as well as all the people in this area said an Israeli official interacting with the IDF, UNRWA and ICRC (International Red Cross.)
UNRWA, the UN Relief and Works Agency, is blaming Israel for 15 people's deaths that have ensued. They are saying that they never received approval from the IDF for evacuation from the school.
It seems to me they are relying on receptionists answering the phones who do not understand the language spoken; which must have been English. The IDF naturally speaks Hebrew and the Agency probably has hired Palestinians who speak Arabic, but both should understand English, we hope.
Then again, we know Hamas wants deaths on their side to hold up against Israel. It's their method of war. They have more to gain if this happens than they do if they all remain safe.
Hamas has refused cease-fire or humanitarian evacuation of civilians. They use the civilians to protect their fighters who have been shooting at the IDF. Has the world ever met such an enemy as this, I wonder?
Unfortunately, many Palestinians had gone to this school, thinking it was safe territory. Hamas is known to hide rockets, mortars and missiles in schools, mosques, homes, office buildings where there are lots of people just for this purpose; to gain deaths.
This school was the 4th UNRWA school hit in the past 4 days struck by explosive rockets or mortars or missiles. Israel has thought that it could have been hit by a rocket fired from Hamas that was a dud and instead of reaching its mark in Israel, dropped onto the school. This has happened many times already.
The IDF authorized a time out for evacuation of people between 10:00 to 14:00 IDT earlier in the day. Hamas stopped the civilians from leaving it. By afternoon, several rockets from Hamas landed in the Beit Hanoun area.
There has been intense fighting in the area. Hamas shot at IDF soldiers from the school area. IDF responded with shooting towards that direction.
UNRWA is covering up the true facts to save their own face or to not be in trouble with Hamas by saying that Israel prevented evacuation of the school.
