Israel's Security Issue: Itamar Ben Gvir

                                    Itamar Ben Gvir

The Israel's head of government's Security is in the hands of the Minister of Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, age 47 whose father was an Iraqi Jew, a Mizrachi Jew born in Jerusalem and he was also born in Israel in Mevaseret Zion outside of Jerusalem by 6 miles.  He's new at this position, a member of the Otzma Yehudit Political Party and  started on December 29, 2022.  Itamar replaced Omar Bar-Lev of the Labor Party who had only served since June 13, 2021 to December 29, 2022.

Born between the Yom Kippur War from Oct 6 -26  of 73 when Arab countries attacked Israel on their holiest day when Israelis had their first surprise attack by the Arabs as Jews were in synagogues undergoing 25 hour fasts,  and 1982's Lebanon War, when Sharon allowed the Lebanese army to deal with the terrorists who went overboard with their tactics leaving Sharon to take the brunt of the blame,  he's become very defensive.  Sharon was to learn that the two groups were of like minds to a close degree.  The Lebanese did not behave like the Israelis would have.

They do have Deputy Ministers and  the last was Yoav Segalovich, age 64  of Yesh Atid who served from June 13, 2021 to December 29, 2022. Yoav Segalovich (Hebrewיוֹאָב סֶגָלוֹבִיץ, born 23 April 1959) is an Israeli law enforcement officer and politician. Previously head of Lahav 433 and the Investigations and Intelligence Division, he is currently a member of the Knesset for Yesh Atid. He grew up in Tel Aviv and served in the Paratroopers Brigade during his national service in the Israel Defense Forces. He subsequently studied law at Tel Aviv University and volunteered in the Civil Guard. He joined the Police and worked as a prosecutor in the Sharon region, before becoming head of the Investigations Department in Netanya

Following the 2020 elections, Segalovich opposed Blue and White joining Benjamin Netanyahu's government. This led to a split in the alliance, with Yesh Atid and Telem breaking away to sit in opposition. During the Knesset term, Segalovich served as chair of the Lobby for the Fight Against Governmental Corruption and the Lobby to Combat Violence in Arab Society.

Netanyahu's mother is a Segal.  Are they related?  We're all related, many 4th and 5th cousins without having known about each other up to 20th cousins. DNA testing is most revealing. I'm distantly related to the Segal line.

The Ministry of National Security (Hebrewהמשרד לביטחון לאומיArabicوزارة الأمن القومي), formerly Ministry of Internal Security and Ministry of Public Security, is a government agency of Israel.

It is the statewide law enforcement agency and oversees the Israel Police, the Israel Prison Service and the Israel National Fire and Rescue ServicesIsrael Border Police, National Headquarters for the Protection of Children on the Internet, National Authority for Community Safety and The Authority for Witness Protection.

Itamar Ben Gvir is the far-right politician (Hebrewאִיתָמָר בֶּן גְּבִיר; born 6 May 1976) is an Israeli lawyer and politician who serves as the Minister of National Security. He is additionally a member of the Knesset and leader of Otzma Yehudit. His political position has been described as far-right.  He lives in Judea-Samaria.  He has been outwardly angry with the Palestinians, a follower of Rabbi Meir Kahane b: 1932, Israeli ordained Orthodox rabbi, writer, and ultra-nationalist politician who served one term in Israel's Knesset before being convicted of acts of terrorism. He founded the Israeli political party Kach. A cofounder of the Jewish Defense League (JDL), he espoused strong views against antisemitism., an American rabbi who also saw no future with the Palestinians due to the attacks they kept  up against Israelis.

On 3 January 2023, Itamar Ben Gvir visited the Temple Mount where the al-Aqsa Mosque is located, spurring an international wave of criticism that labelled his visit purposely provocative.  He's been the main defender of Jews on trial for their radical behavior towards the Arabs.  Itamar, in other words, has a  reputation not popular with the Democratic Party of the USA.

The Jerusalem Post reports that "National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir supports the formation of an emergency national unity government due to the ongoing war with Hamas, but reiterates that he blames opposition MKs Benny Gantz and Gadi Eisenkot for the current situation, Israeli media reported.
