Cease Fire Announced to Happen: Hezbollah 4:00am in Jerusalem Time on November 27, 2024

 Nadene Goldfoot

"Joe Biden has announced a highly anticipated ceasefire to end the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah, in what he called a “historic” deal to end the 14-month-old war.

At 6:00pm tonight, Portland, Oregon time, the cease fire begins according to Jerusalem time (Israel) who are 10 hours ahead of us.  It is to last for 2 months.  We'll see what Hezbollah will do, for any deceit and Israel will respond.

Benjamin Netanyahu already spoke and told us why he's accepting a cease fire at 4:00am in Jerusalem.    However, the first I heard of it was from a long speech from Joe Biden, President of USA.  Evidently he holds many needs  from Israel if Netanyahu doesn't comply, according to Democrat followers.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a pre-recorded statement said there were three “main reasons” he wanted a ceasefire with Hezbollah now:

to “focus on the Iranian threat,”

to give Israeli troops a breather, and

to increase pressure on Hamas.

Biden and Netanyahu in 2016;  better days?

The Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, had endorsed an imminent ceasefire in the country’s war with the Lebanese group after his full cabinet approved the deal on Tuesday evening despite opposition from his far-right allies.

In televised remarks after the Israeli security cabinet met to vote on the proposal for a 60-day ceasefire, Netanyahu said he was ready to implement the deal, but added that Israel would retain “complete military freedom of action” in the event of an infringement by Hezbollah.

“We will enforce the agreement and respond forcefully to any violation. Together, we will continue until victory,” Netanyahu said.

In remarks from the White House Rose Garden, Biden said: “Under the deal reached today, effective at 4am tomorrow, local time, the fighting across the Lebanese Israeli border will end,”. He repeated the last two words: “Will end.”

“This is designed to be a permanent cessation of hostilities. What is left of Hezbollah and other terrorist organizations will not be allowed, I emphasize, will not be allowed to threaten the security of Israel again,” he said.

“Israel has been told has been bold on the battlefield. Iran has proxies have paid a very heavy price. Now, Israel must be bold in turning tactical gains against Iran into a coherent strategy that secure Israel’s long term, long term safety and advances of broader peace and prosperity in the region.

Today’s announcement is a critical step in that vision, and so I applaud the courageous decision made by the leaders of Lebanon and Israel to end the violence. It reminds us that peace is possible. Say that again, peace is possible

Biden said that US troops would not be committed to the border between Israel and Lebanon, but that “we, along with France and others, will provide the necessary assistance to make sure this deal is implemented fully and effectively.”

As to this peacekeeping group, I've heard discussions that the Lebanese Army is being considered.  They've already been a failure in this.

There is UNIFIL of the UN, who want to arrest Netanyahu, so they shouldn't be expected to be fair with Israel at all these days.  "Israel argues that Unifil has failed to prevent Hezbollah militants from operating near the Israeli border - among the reasons for a UN presence there - and has urged Unifil forces to leave the area for their own safety.

It also says that Hezbollah deliberately operates from sites located near Unifil positions".Just lately, "The UN peacekeeping agency in southern Lebanon has said four of its soldiers have been injured in a rocket attack on one of its bases.

The Italian soldiers were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (Unifil) base in Shama, south-west Lebanon, was struck by two 122mm rockets, the agency said in a statement."
