What Russia and NATO Might Do on Rosh Hashana, the Birthday of the World

 Nadene Goldfoot

While we Jews are busy preparing for Shabbat tonight and the start of Rosh Hashana on Sunday evening,  the Erev Rosh Hashana dinner, The world is facing a possible war with Russia by Monday, when sham voting will end to decide whether they want Donbas held by Russia or Ukraine.  After listening to CNN and General Clapper and watching the riots happening in St. Petersburg, Russia where men are being hauled away by some type of police to be forced into the army, we presume.   I can only wonder what will happen by Monday, our 1st day of the Birthday of the world.

Everyone is worried that Putin's way of pulling out all stops is to use his nuclear weapons. That's one way to put an end to our world.

"BRUSSELS, Sept 23 (Reuters) - NATO will ramp up its help for Kyiv in response to Russia's "sham" referendums in occupied territories of Ukraine, the alliance's Secretary-General, Jens Stoltenberg, said on Friday."  Evidently this man has no power in NATO, like the military has, commented another website, Redact.  They felt that NATO should stop their assertions as that is pushing NATO and Russia into a nuclear war.

He spoke as Moscow launched the votes on the four regions joining Russia, in what Kyiv and its allies say is a ruse to annex the territories and escalate the seven-month-old war.

"Our answer, NATO's answer, is to step up support," Stoltenberg told CNN in an interview.

Blowing the Shofar is also something that is done on Rosh Hashana.  We'll want to hear the blasts from this ram's horn,  the oldest and most soulful of wind instruments, which has many meanings, and one is that it reminds us of the shofar heard on Mt. Sinai, when we accepted g-d's commandments for all time.  It represents the simple, primal outcry from the depth of the soul.

Our Rosh Hashana is the day on which Jews believe that G-d completed the creation of this world.  Each Rosh Hashana, we proclaim the Kingship of G-d, and reaffirm our commitment to serve Him well.

Just as on the original Rosh Hashana, G-d created the world for the 1st time, so each Rosh Hashana He reconsiders and re-evaluates the quality of our relationship with Him, and creates our world anew.

I held my breath when I heard that our PM of Israel, Yair Lapid, mentioned being for a 2-state solution just a few days ago, something I and others do not believe can take place at this time.  Palestinians are not ready to make peace, and who wants a neighbor that wants to destroy you?  Why make it easy for him?  But, I shouldn't have worried.  Abbas answered in his usual way with all the spit and hatred he usually throws about us, and made it impossible to even give a reply to his snarly statement.

That said, the world is now in jeopardy with NATO and Russia.  Our first day of Rosh Hashana will truly be memorable.  I think it needs our prayers for peace. Putin needs to stop his escalation of troops into Ukraine again with a far bigger surge than they had at first and realize that Ukraine doesn't want to be a part of the Communist empire.  His idea of re-creating USSR is unrealistic.

The world has had time to view the autopsy of Communism  and Ukraine doesn't want any part of it.  Russia cannot create their own United States using communism to hold them together.  After studying communism, one can see that it has only created mindless people who have lost their creativity and zeal for life and have become parasites on the government, expecting to be taken care of without doing much in return. The more they take, the more they want more, and they never reach the point of being satisfied.  Satisfaction comes from within, from our own achievements, and they aren't left with much to achieve in Communism.

Only Putin is trying to make himself happy by a form of achievement, but look what goal he's trying to achieve !  It's hopeless, and he can cause destruction of the whole world in his position, and by throwing his hands up in the air and realizing his faults,, taking us all with himself.

Better yet that he realize his mistake  and resign on Monday.  Here's hoping that a miracle can happen and Russia can wake up and join the human race.

Jens Stoltenberg (born 16 March 1959) is a Norwegian politician who has been serving as the 13th secretary general of NATO since 2014. A member of the Norwegian Labour Party, he previously served as the 34th prime minister of Norway from 2000 to 2001, and again from 2005 until 2013. University of Oslo (Cand.oecon.)

Earlier this month,, "NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg welcomed U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken to NATO Headquarters on Friday (9 September 2022) for a meeting of the North Atlantic Council to address Russia’s brutal war on Ukraine. Mr. Stoltenberg highlighted the unprecedented military, financial and humanitarian aid from NATO Allies to help Ukraine uphold its right to self-defense."

The Secretary General said: “The United States is leading the way. And I welcome the billions of dollars of additional support announced this week.  Yesterday I participated in the US-led Ukraine Defense Contact Group in Ramstein. We all agreed on the importance of stepping up and sustaining our military support, so that Ukraine prevails as an independent sovereign state.”

It looks like NATO cannot back down and allow Russia to have their way of being able to invade a successfully-run country, even though they used to belong to the USSR.  They don't want to belong.  Many have given up their lives to live in freedom.  Putin just doesn't care.
