End of Year 5782--- Roundup of this Year

 Nadene Goldfoot

As we approach the end of the Jewish year, the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) is reporting that Israel's population is at 9,593,000. The breakdown is 74% Jewish, 21% Arab and 5% listed as other. According to the data, 45.3% of Jews in the country define themselves as secular, 19.2% consider themselves marginally observant, 13.9% are partially religious, 10.7% are religious and 10% are ultra-Orthodox. Data also shows that 89.3% of Israelis are satisfied with their lives. Among Jews that percentage reached 91.5% , compared to 70.7% among Arabs. The report also found that 70.4% of Jews are satisfied with their economic situation, compared to 51.1% of Arabs.

Religous Jews have settled in Judea and Samaria in villages and towns that have developed from  1967 onwards. Were they counted in the census?

Update 9/23/22: This shows that 53.8% of Israel's Jews are religious from just a little to Ultra orthodox.  45.3% are secular Jews, meaning not religious at all.  I hope they are at least Nationalistic, knowing why someone chose to have them live in Israel for good reason.

Just think.  Joshua entered Canaan with a population of 601,730, having lost 1,820 on the 40 year journey including deaths of the elderly or sick. They had to fight quite often on this trek.  It must have been quite a feat to move  603,550 from Egypt to Canaan, though they were not that far apart.

Iron Beam, laser missile defense system

An Israeli police officer demonstrates a laser defense system designed to intercept explosives-laden balloons launched from the Gaza Strip into Israel, on the Israeli Gaza border, Aug. 30, 2020. A new Israeli laser missile defense system has successfully intercepted mortars, rockets and anti-tank missiles in recent tests, Defense Minister Benny Gantz said on April 14, 2022.        Iron Dome:  a mobile all-weather air defense system developed by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and Israel Aerospace Industries.

Israel is constantly inventing.  The Iron Beam is one of its latest.  It goes along with the Iron Dome.  What they invent are tools to be used defensively because of the constant attacks they have to deflect.
