 Nadene Goldfoot

In 1983, the preeminent Ayatollah was Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder and first Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran

After leading the 1979 Iranian Revolution, and got rid of Israel's friend, the Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, who reigned from 1941 until his overthrow by the Iranian Revolution in 1979. He was the second and last monarch of the Pahlavi dynasty, which ended the Iranian monarchy's 2,500-year rule.  Khomeini consolidated power, and in 1983, he continued to hold the ultimate political and religious authority in the country.

He was responsible for urgently attacking the USA.

5. and the June 2025 missile attacks on the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. On June 23, 2025, Iran launched a missile attack on the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar as a retaliatory response to the United States striking Iranian nuclear sitesQatari forces and U.S. Patriot missile batteries successfully intercepted the missiles, resulting in no casualties to American or Qatari personnel. The attack, which caused only minimal damage, prompted calls for a ceasefire and efforts to defuse tensions in the broader Israel-Iran conflict.
