Yusuf al Qaradawi, spiritual leader of Muslim Brotherhood, died at 96, born in Egypt on September 9, 1926, died in Doha, Qatar on September 26, 2022.
On Tuesday evening, Israel's planes hit the Hamas stronghold in Qatar who had gathered together in a meeting about another ceasefire deal in the Gaza strip. Several head Hamas leaders had fled to Qatar for a better life while dictating orders to their underlings.
A Wanted Man: Dr. Khalil Al-HayyaThe report reads that five members of Hamas and a member of Qatar's Internal Security Force were killed Tuesday in an Israeli strike on Doha, Qatar, targeting senior Hamas leadership in the country for ceasefire talks, according to statements from officials on each side. Among the Hamas members killed were the son of a senior Hamas leader, Dr. Khalil Al-Hayya -- the head of the Hamas movement in Gaza and the head of the negotiating team for Hamas in the ongoing negotiations with Israel -- and an aide to the leader. The father, Al-Hayya himself, an apparent target of the strike, survived, according to Hamas.
In a joint statement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz said airstrikes targeting Hamas leadership in Doha were "completely justified in light of the fact that this Hamas leadership was the one who initiated and organized the October 7 massacre, and has not stopped launching murderous actions against the State of Israel and its citizens since then, including taking responsibility for the murder of our citizens in yesterday's attack in Jerusalem." That was gruesome with 6 people attacked on the street as well as 4 soldiers, all dead.
Qatar has become a favorite USA territory where they have an airport. "Qatar is important to the U.S. for its strategic military base, Al Udeid Air Base, which is a hub for regional operations and hosts CENTCOM Forward Headquarters. Qatar also represents a significant economic partner through its major investments in the U.S. energy sector and as a large buyer of American defense systems, while also serving as a critical regional mediator for stability and a partner in counterterrorism efforts. "
It is thought that Qatar is an ally and this may mark an escalation and risk upending future talks, but it looks like the time as run out for that by now. Israel is already in Gaza trying to wind down the war and free the few remaining hostages.
The attack angered Qatar, an energy-rich Gulf nation hosting thousands of American troops that has served as a key mediator between Israel and Hamas throughout the 23-month-old war and even before. It condemned what it referred to as a “flagrant violation of all international laws and norms” as smoke rose over its capital, Doha. Other key U.S. allies in the Gulf, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, promised their support to Qatar.
Israel pinpointed their targets and had plenty of information from Mossad to not hit anyone other than the target of Hamas leaders. They have taken out some important leaders.
Donald Trump, b: June 14, 1946 at 79 yearsTrump gave Netanyahu the green light to go ahead with this, though the news says otherwise, like "Trump feels 'very badly' about attack.
Trump says he feels "very badly" about the attack, as he views Qatar as a "strong ally and friend" of the US. He writes: "I want ALL of the Hostages, and bodies of the dead, released, and this War to END, NOW! I also spoke to Prime Minister Netanyahu after the attack. The Prime Minister told me that he wants to make Peace. I believe this unfortunate incident (?) could serve as an opportunity for PEACE." The US president also says he spokes to the Emir and prime minister of Qatar, and thanked them for their "support and friendship" to the US. "I assured them that such a thing will not happen again on their soil," Trump says - adding that he's directed Secretary of State Marco Rubio to finalise a "Defense Cooperation Agreement" with Qatar. Will that satisfy Saudi Arabia and the UAE?
