Israel wanted Hamas leadership to know that after what they did on October 7, 2023, they will be hunted down and found, no matter how long it takes.  Their action deserves such consequences.

On September 9, 2025, Israel launched an airstrike in Doha, Qatar, targeting several senior Hamas officials, but the top leadership reportedly survived. Hamas reported that at least five of its members were killed in the attack, along with a Qatari security officer.

Primary targets who reportedly possibly survived

  • Khalil al-Hayya: Head of Hamas in Gaza and a senior negotiator who was reportedly meeting with other members of the negotiating team when the strike occurred.

  • Khaled Mashaal: The former head of Hamas and current head of its diaspora office was believed to have been present or in the vicinity of the strike.
  • Zaher Jabarin: The head of Hamas's West Bank operations and its chief financial administrator.

Five members of Hamas were killed in an Israeli strike in Doha, Qatar, on September 9, 2025, during an attempted assassination of senior leaders. While the targeted senior officials survived, the following five men were killed in the attack:

Himam al-Hayya: The son of Hamas leader in Gaza, Khalil al-Hayya.

  • Jihad Labad Abu Bilal: The office director for Khalil al-Hayya.
  • Abdullah Abu Khalil: An "associate," or subordinate, to senior Hamas officials.
  • Muaman Abu Omar: An "associate," or subordinate, to senior Hamas officials.
  • Ahmad Abu Malek: An "associate," or subordinate, to senior Hamas officials.
  • According to Hamas, the five men were part of a delegation in Doha to discuss a ceasefire proposal when the strike occurred. (They had been living in Doha in the luxury hotels with the others hiding out from IDF).
  • Also killed were 3 others:
  • Abdallah Abd al-Wahid: Described as an associate, possibly a bodyguard or adviser.
  • Muamen Hassouna: Described as an associate, possibly a bodyguard or adviser.
  • Qatari delegation killed or injured
    • Killed: Lance Corporal Badr Saad Mohammed al-Humaidi al-Dosari, A Qatari security officer;   of Qatar's internal security forces died while on duty at the targeted site.
    • Injured: A number of other Qatari security personnel were also injured in the attack.
The Israeli Air Force (IAF) relies on a modern fleet of U.S.-made fighter jets, often customized with advanced Israeli-developed technology, for its airstrikes. These aircraft include the F-15I Ra'am, F-16I Sufa, and F-35I Adir.
