Rosh Hashana United Nations Collide

 Nadene Goldfoot

A Happier Rosh Hashana day when I could bake the round Challah and have the family over.  Rosh Hashanah celebrates the Jewish New Year, also known as the "birthday of the world," marking the anniversary of the creation of humanity. It is a time of prayer, self-reflection, and repentance, a crucial part of the "Days of Awe" leading up to Yom Kippur. Observances include sounding the shofar (ram's horn), eating apples and honey for a sweet new year, and gathering for festive meals

Today is also the day when the UN voted to recognize a Palestine which would mean the land of Gaza, and the West Bank (ancient Judea and Samaria)  I imagine.

I can't imagine the hatred our former friends felt for Jews to cause a reward for terrorists who caused the October 7, 2023 massacre of Jews living along Gaza on another Jewish holiday of Sukkot.

Israel has been a state in the UN since May 14,, 1948.  The benefits were to be:
Gaining membership in the United Nations (UN) and being declared a sovereign state offers a range of political, economic, and security benefits. The status provides international legitimacy, access to diplomatic forums, opportunities for development assistance, and the backing of international law.
  • Strengthened international law. By participating in the UN, a state can influence and be protected by a vast body of international law. The UN has helped create more than 500 multilateral treaties on issues ranging from human rights to terrorism and the environment.
  • Only with Israel have I seen terrorism flourish without any aid from others except USA. Upon reflection, I cannot remember the UN doing much of anything besides showing their anti-Semitism towards Israel all these years.
All it has ever done for Israel is find reasons to complain while
ignoring the acts of other countries that were far, far worse.

They have now opened up Pandora's Box upon the whole world.
