Why Evangelical Christians and Jews Are Close

 Nadene Goldfoot

Pastor John Hagee: 80 yrs.   John Charles Hagee (born April 12, 1940) is an American pastor and televangelist. He founded John Hagee Ministries, which telecasts to the United States and Canada. He is also the founder and chairman of the Christian Zionist organization Christians United for Israel, (CUFI) the largest Zionist organization in America.

Is religion playing a part in politics?  Tomorrow the UN is holding the vote of accepting the creation and acceptance of a Palestine.  We've already been told how the different countries will vote.

Evangelical Christians and Jews have a relationship marked by significant overlap and some tension, but also key differences, particularly in their theological understanding of Jesus Christ and the role of Israel. For many evangelical Christians, their support for Israel is tied to a belief in Christian Zionism, which holds that the existence of a Jewish state fulfills biblical prophecy and is a precursor to the second coming of Jesus Christ. Jews, meanwhile, generally view the establishment of Israel as a historical and nationalist development  rather than a religious prophecy leading to a Christian messianic event. However, the Orthodox Jews also believe in the prophecies but interpreted much differently than Christians.      It looks like all of Europe is against Israel with their

 promised vote, taking place tomorrow.

                       Trump initiating the Abraham Accords

Today, these Evangelical Christians and the USA are Israel's only friends. Other American presidents would praise Jews and the idea ofan Israel but wouldn't take the chance.  HA SHEM (the name) broughtin Trump who during his presidency, recognized Israel's sovereignty over Jerusalem and the Golan Heights, Trump announced the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital in December 2017,

  • He fulfilled a campaign promise by directing the U.S. embassy to be relocated from Tel Aviv,. and brokered the Abraham Accords to normalize diplomatic relations between Israel and several Arab states. These actions often reversed long-standing U.S. foreign policy and drew both praise and international condemnation.
  •
The term "evangelical" can be interpreted broadly to include any Christian with certain beliefs or more narrowly to refer specifically to evangelical Protestant denominations.
                                                          French Jew
4 young Jewish men murdered in their  store in France
    • Pew Research Center (2023-24 study): Reports that 23% of U.S. adults identify as evangelical Protestants. Jews constitute about 2.4% of the total U.S. population, with an estimated 7.6 million people identifying as Jewish in 2020. This figure includes those who identify as Jewish by religion and those who do so aside from religion, accounting for people of all ages.
There are approximately 700,000 ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) Jews in the United States as of 2020, making up about 12% of the total U.S. Jewish population, though demographic estimates vary. Other sources from 2024 suggest the percentage could be around 8%, with Modern Orthodox Jews also adding to the total Orthodox population, a figure that is growing due to high birth rates in Haredi communities.
    • Jews make up approximately 0.2% of the world's population. As of 2025, the global Jewish population is estimated to be nearly 15.8 million, and is concentrated primarily in the Middle East (Israel) and North America.  The number of Jews around the world grew by 6%, from an estimated 14 million in 2010 to nearly 15 million in 2020.
    •  There are approximately 292,000 Jews in the United Kingdom, with a significant majority living in London and Manchester. The 2021 Census reported 271,327 people in England and Wales identifying as Jewish, a number that has grown in recent years. The UK has the fifth-largest Jewish population in the world and the second largest in Europe.

    • France is home to roughly 440,000 to 500,000 Jews, making it the third-largest Jewish population in the world and the largest in Europe.  It ranks 3rd behind Israel and the USA.   The community is concentrated in the Paris region, but also has significant populations in Marseille, Lyon, and Nice.
    • Germany is again the home of  approximately 94,771 registered members as of 2020, while the broader World Jewish Congress places the community size closer to 118,000, with the total population (including non-members) potentially reaching around 225,000 to 250,000 in recent years. This population has grown significantly since the post-Holocaust era, primarily due to immigration from the former Soviet Union starting in the 1990s.
    • Messianic Expectation:
The central theological distinction between Evangelical Christians and Orthodox Jews  is the role of Jesus.
      • Evangelicals: A key component of Christian Zionism is the belief that the return of Jews to the land of Israel will lead to the second coming of Jesus Christ.
      • Jews: Do not accept Jesus as the messiah and see the return to the land of Israel as a historical and national rather than a religious fulfillment, although the Orthodox do.  I do believe that AI has fed this algorithm with Jews' comments other than the Orthodox.

      • There are approximately 1.8 million people affiliated with Reform Judaism globally, and close to 1.1 million people affiliated with Conservative Judaism globallyThe majority of these individuals, particularly those in Reform Judaism, are found in the United States, where Reform is the largest denomination and Conservative is the second-largest.
In a recent May 2025 survey, 6% of Israeli Jews identify as Reform, a significant increase from 3% in 2022. In contrast, 28% identify as religious-Zionist and 10% as Haredi (ultra-Orthodox), with 50% remaining unaffiliated with any denomination. This means the ratio of Orthodox Jews (religious-Zionist and Haredi) to Reform Jews is approximately 3.8:1, with the combined Orthodox population being around four times larger than the Reform population in Israel.
In other words, Israel and the USA contain the opposite ends
    • of Judaism.  Israel was created by Jews very concerned about
    • what was happening to Jews all over the world with anti-Semitism.  There was
Chaim Weizmann: A Russian-born chemist, Theodore Herzl-His 1896 book, The Jewish State, established the goal of a modern, sovereign Jewish state, David Ben-Gurion: He was the head of the Jewish Agency and de facto leader of the Jewish community in Palestine during the British Mandate period, and Ze'ev Jabotinsky: A Revisionist Zionist leader who advocated for a more militant approach to securing a Jewish state.  His ideology influenced later Israeli leaders, including Menachem Begin. .
    • Theology vs. History:
Evangelical support is often driven by religious prophecy, whereas the basic Jewish support is rooted in a connection to Jewish history, culture, and national identity, although the Orthodox Jews do connect with prophecy. That's a consideration in Israeli government right now.  Israel does have or has always had 2 head rabbis, one that's Ashkenazi and the other that's Sephardic.  They should have an imput; but they  speak for all levels of their people.
    • Political Influence:
The large and influential bloc of evangelical Christians provides political backing for Israel in American politics, creating a powerful alliance with the Jewish community in this regard.
    Points of Friction
    • Focus on the Land:
Some evangelical interpretations of scripture emphasize the land given to Abraham as belonging to the Jewish people, sometimes leading to viewpoints that do acknowledge the rights or presence of Palestinians.
    • Contrasting Perspectives:
While some evangelical and Jewish leaders work toward shared goals, not all members of either community share the same views on the relationship between the two faiths or their political implications.
Being Jewish is something most have been born into, like being
  • Italian.  You suddenly do not become Irish, wherever you are, even
  • though this is classified by many as just a religion.  Wherever you are
  • on the spectrum, you have Jewish genes and a 4,000 year old history
  • of genes to deal with. In the beginning, many Italians were converting
  • to Judaism but Emperor Constantine put an end to that in the 300s.
  • Converting to Judaism is rare, happening during some marriages.

  •  Many, reform or Orthodox, are also
  • Nationalistic and support Israel's right to continue existing after her 77th
  • birthday on May 14, 1948.
  • Nobody is to succeed in rubbing her and her
  • people out; and that's according to prophecy and our will to survive.
