United Nations Day AND MAMDANI-NETANYAHU of September 24th 2026

            Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani born October 18, 1991 Kampala, Uganda, to parents of Indian descent, and came to the USA when 7 years old to parents of the Muslim faith. His father is a Gujarati Muslim who was born in Mumbai and raised in Uganda. His mother is a Punjabi Hindu,  The Mamdani family belongs to the Khoja Twelver community.  In the 1870s and onward, prominent Khoja leaders met with Iraqi Shia scholars like Ayatollah Zayn al-Abidin Mazandarani, who sent teachers like Mulla Qadir Husayn to India to instruct the community in Twelver jurisprudence (Ithna-Asheri). This transition involved replacing traditional jamaatkhanas with standard Islamic mosques and practicing standard Arabic canonical prayers (salat). 

Twelver Shia attitudes toward Jews and Israel today is overwhelmingly hostile and deeply influenced by modern Islamist ideology.  Ideology (e.g., Iran and Hezbollah)

Rejection of Israel: The governments and groups aligned with official Twelver Shia political theology, most notably the Iranian regime and Lebanon’s Hezbollah, view the State of Israel as an illegitimate, "cancerous growth" and a Western imperialist tool.
 High-ranking clerics and political figures in Iran often frame the conflict with Israel in apocalyptic terms, connecting the elimination of the Jewish state to end-times theology and the eventual return of the 12th Imam (the Mahdi).  
 Official rhetoric frequently blurs the line between anti-Zionism (opposition to the state of Israel) and antisemitism (hostility toward Jewish people broadly), incorporating classic conspiracy tropes regarding global corruption and power. 

New York's Mamdai was interviewed and said, " “When it comes to Benjamin Netanyahu, I have described him as I believe him to be:  a war criminal and an architect of a horrific genocide of the Palestinian people."

In a video addressing NYC Mayor Mamdani, Netanyahu said, “Shame on you, Mr. Mamdani. Shame on you for supporting the Hamas terrorist monsters who butchered our people. Shame on you for inciting riots against New York Jews. I'm coming to the UN. I'm going to tell the truth about our heroic soldiers, and I'm going to tell the truth about you.”

During his mayoral campaign, Mamdani drew heavy criticism from political opponents and Jewish organizations after defending the phrase "globalize the intifada." He stated the slogan captured a "desirable desire for equality," which critics argued validated a term historically associated with violent attacks against Jewish civilians.

On his very first day in office in January 2026, Mamdani revoked an executive order from former Mayor Eric Adams that had adopted the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's (IHRA) definition of antisemitism. He also lifted restrictions on city agencies boycotting Israel. The Israeli Foreign Ministry and local leaders strongly condemned the move, accusing him of pouring "antisemitic gasoline on an open fire."

Breaking with decades of mayoral tradition in New York City, Mamdani refused to attend or march in the annual Israel Day Parade down Fifth Avenue, a choice critics cited as a clear sign of his alienation of the mainstream Jewish community.

In late 2025, anti-Israel protesters swarmed Manhattan’s Park East Synagogue during an Israeli real estate exhibition, chanting slogans like "death to the IDF" and calling for an "intifada revolution." Mamdani issued a brief statement discouraging the language, but heavily alarmed Jewish leaders by publicly chastising the synagogue for hosting the real estate event, stating sacred spaces should not promote activities that violate international law. Critics accused him of victim-blaming a house of worship under siege.   

He should have hired Alan Dershowitz:  Dershowitz was born in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, on September 1, 1938, the son of Claire (née Ringel) and Harry Dershowitz, an Orthodox Jewish couple.He was raised in Borough Park. His father was a founder and president of the Young Israel of Boro Park Synagogue in the 1960s, served on the board of directors of the Etz Chaim School in Borough Park, and, in retirement, was co-owner of the Manhattan-based Merit Sales Company.  He probably would not want to defend  Mamdani, though he always likes a challenge.    However, an estimated 22,000 to 33,000 Jewish lawyers live and practice in New York City.   He could have found many.

In July 2026, a coalition of New York attorneys formally criticized Mamdani after it was revealed his 18-member judicial advisory panel contained no Jewish members. Given that judges appointed by this panel preside over the city's rising tide of antisemitic hate crimes, Jewish legal professionals called the omission dangerous. Mamdani defended the panel, stating its composition was not religiously motivated.

 He will not stay overnight and will depart for Israel that evening, reportedly in order to avoid expected protests from Mamdani's followers.

The Prophetic Words Of Jacob To His Sons

Recorded in Genesis 49, these words were tailored to each son's character and past behavior, serving as both a personal farewell and a vision for the "days to come."His sons were elevated to full-fledged tribal fathers.  Even when he chastising his sons, he did not curse them, but their rage.  

Reuben: Jacob's firstborn, who lost his place of preeminence and honor because he was turbulent like water and defiled his father's couch. What he had lost ws is right to national leadership because of the impetuosity with which he rushed to vent his anger (in the incident with Bilhah (35:22)

Simeon and Levi: Condemned for their fierce anger and violent deeds (such as the massacre at Shechem), Jacob declared that their descendants would be scattered within Israel. (Levites were not given land by Joshua;  instead they lived with their brothers in teaching the Mosaic laws.)

During 2nd Temple period this law of no connections to gentiles was dropped and this marriage to Judith took place  in (cf Judith 9:2: found in New testament only) when Levi had one daughter, Jochebed, mother of Moses) and 3 sons, Gershom, Kohath whose son Amram  was the father of Moses, and Merawri. It was these two who sought to disable Joseph, who is figuratively likened to an ox;   Christianity has filled in the family tree to connect Jesus into the Hebrew version.  Otherwise, in Jewish history, Jochebed was the wife of Amram, mother of Moses, Aaron and Miriam.   Levi died in Egypt at age 137. 

Judah: Praised by his brothers, given military victory over enemies, and promised that the ruler's staff and royal authority would remain in his family line until the coming of the ultimate ruler (Shiloh). You, your brothers shall acknowledge!   Judah would be the source of Jewish leadersip and royalty of the Davidic dynasty and Messiah. ( So admired will you be by all your brothers that Jews will not say, I am a Reubenite or a Simeonite, but "I am a Yehudi!) Judahite:  Jew!  The privilege of providing Israel's sovereign ruler, symbolized by the royal scepter---shall not pass from the House of Judah  (Onkelos) (Until Shiloh arrives, meaning, the Messiah, to whom the kingdom belongs, according to Rashi.  

Zebulun: Prophesied to live by the seacoast and become a haven for ships. Rabbis associated them with trade, the scholarly descendants of Issachar being supported by the tribe of Zebulun.  

Issachar: 3rd largest tribe;  Described as a strong, hardworking donkey willing to bear burdens in exchange for a peaceful land. Some of the tribe was saved from the Assyrian exile, and men of Issachar answered Hezekiah/s summons to celebrate Passover in Jerusalem.  

Dan: Declared to govern and judge his people as one of the tribes of Israel. Mother was Bilhah-handmaid of Rachel. 

Gad: Promised that though a band of raiders would attack him, he would counterattack and triumph in the end.

Asher: Blessed with rich, abundant food and delicacies fit for kings.

Naphtali: Likened to a nimble, running deer who utters beautiful, graceful words.

Joseph: Given a rich and extensive blessing as a fruitful vine whose branches reach over the wall, strengthened by the Almighty with blessings of the earth, heaven, and deep.

Benjamin: Likened to a ravenous and fierce wolf that devours prey in the morning and divides plunder at night. 

Ephraim and Manasseh, the grandsons:  they maintained their Jewishness in the face of the hostility and temptation of Egyptian culture.  Jewish parents of the future should hope that their children show comparable commitment to their heritage.  

Right before these final words to his sons, Jacob also adopted and blessed Joseph's two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, placing the younger Ephraim ahead of the older Manasseh as full heads of their own tribes. After finishing his blessings, Jacob gathered his feet into his bed, breathed his last breath, and died. He had blessed his sons so they would be directed toward the paths for which G-d had suited them, for his blessings would make  clear that each of the tribes has its own unique mission.
