Palestinian Arabs Have Chosen Their Leaders, Always The Tough Guys

 Nadene Goldfoot

                                                Chaim Weizmann and Emir Feisal

Since 1920, Palestinians turned against the educated Emir, Ibn  Feisal Hussein (1885-1933) and chose instead their homey, Haj Mohammed Amin al-Husseini ( 1893-1974) to follow.  Feisal became king of Iraq farom 1921.  He was the eldest son of Hussein, sherif of Mecca (in Saudi Arabia).  He had helped the British by leading the Arab "rising" against the Ottoman Empire (Turkey) (1016-1918) and was designated king of Syria.  Feisal was sympathetic  to Zionism  from which he hoped to receive  aid in building his future kingdom.  He met Dr. Weizmann in Transjordan (1918) and again in Paris (1919)  where they reached an agreement on mutual aid, conditional on the implementation of British promises to the  Arabs.

Later, Feisal was removed from his position in Syria by the French who held the mandate there  (1920)  who were influenced by the Palestinian Arab leadership.  Feisal's attitude towards Zionism then became hostile.

What's interesting is that the king of Jordan was Abdullah Hussein I, (born 1882, Mecca—died July 20, 1951, Jerusalem), statesman who became the first ruler (1946–51) of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.   He was given 80% of the land originally promised to be part of the Jewish Homeland by the British who held the 30 year mandate.  His dynasty was his son who then became the king. In 1988, he renounced claims to the West Bank (Judea and Samaria-original land of Israel) in view of Arab decisions that the PLO was the rightful authority.  He was the brother of Feisal Hussein.

The Hashemites, or “Bani Hashem,” are descendants of the Arab chieftain Quraysh, a descendant of the Prophet Ismail, himself the son of the Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham). Quraysh first came to the holy city of Mecca during the second century CE. The first generation of Quraysh to rule the city came six generations later, when Qusayy bin Kilab ascended to the leadership of Mecca in the year 480 CE. The name “Hashem” is actually that of Qusayy’s grandson, who was the great-grandfather of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The Hashemites are thus the direct descendants of the Prophet through his daughter Fatima and her husband Ali bin Abi Talib, who was also the Prophet’s paternal first cousin and the fourth caliph of Islam.

During the Great Arab Revolt of 1916, King Hussein’s great-grandfather, Al-Hussein bin Ali, Sharif of Mecca and King of the Arabs (later he also became known as King of the Hijaz), led the liberation of Arab lands from their domination by the Ottoman Turks. After freeing the lands of Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Iraq, Syria and the Hijaz, Sharif Hussein’s son Abdullah assumed the throne of Transjordan and his second son Faisal assumed the throne of Syria and later Iraq. The Emirate of Transjordan was founded on April 11, 1921, and became the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan upon formal independence from Britain in 1946.

In 1921, the high commissioner of Great Britain, Sir Herbert Samuel, appointed Amin al-Husseini the  mufti of Jerusalem and head of the Supreme Moslem Council.  A mufti is Leader; Interpreter of. Law. Actually, Grand Mufti is a title for the highest religious legal figure in a country practicing Sunni Islam. In Egypt, the Grand Mufti is an interpreter of Islamic Law (Sharia) and advises the Egyptian judiciary on matters where secular and religious law overlap. By 1936, as chairman of the Arab Supreme Council, Amin Husseini organized the Palestine disturbances for which he was sentenced to exile in 1937.  He fled to Lebanon.

During World War II, Husseini participated in Rashid Ali's pro-Axis coup in Iraq before going to Europe.  He went to Germany where he assisted Hitler and was largely responsible for the liquidation of the Jews in the Moslem areas of Bosnia.  By 1946, Amin Husseini escaped to Egypt.  Then, after 1948, he set up a short-lived "Palestine Government" in Gaza, and later, in Cairo.

The Palestinian Arabs chose their leader.  They wanted the warlike Husseini and turned their noses up at Emir Feisal Hussein with his friendship with the Jews. That's the way it has been.

On November 29, 1947, the United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 181 (also known as the Partition Resolution) that would divide Great Britain's former Palestinian mandate into Jewish and Arab states in May 1948.  The partition plan was reluctantly accepted by the Jewish Agency for Palestine with misgivings.

The Arab Higher Committee, the Arab League and other Arab leaders and governments rejected it on the basis that in addition to the Arabs forming a two-thirds majority, they owned a majority of the lands. They also indicated an unwillingness to accept any form of territorial division, arguing that it violated the principles of national self-determination in the UN Charter which granted people the right to decide their own destiny.

That owning the land business is not the truth.  Jews had been busy buying land ever since the Aliyote starting in 1880 began and Jews were returning from Eastern Europe.  Most all landowners had sold their land happily for very high prices.  The Arabs wanted to leave because they couldn't afford the taxes they had to pay to the Ottoman Empire.  They took their money and headed out for Paris, Lebanon, places they could enjoy living.  The Jews wanted the land because it was holy to them.  Those that were wealthy helped out in the buying.

In 2006, Hamas won the 2006 Palestinian legislative elections and assumed administrative control of Gaza Strip and West Bank. In 2007, Hamas led a military victory over Fatah, the secular Palestinian nationalist party, which had dominated the Palestinian National Authority.

After Hamas won the Palestinian legislative elections on 25 January 2006, Ismail Haniyeh was nominated Prime Minister of the Palestinian National Authority, establishing a Palestinian national unity government with Fatah.  Ismail Haniyeh is a Palestinian politician who is a senior political leader of Hamas, the current chairman of Hamas’s political bureau, and resides in Qatar. Haniyeh was born in the Al-Shati refugee camp in the Gaza Strip in 1962.  He's 61.

After the 1967 War when all the Arab states ganged up on Israel and expected they couldn't help but win, they got fooled, and fooled good.  Israel won-even surprising themselves, but they were determined.  As Golda Meir said, they had no place to run to.

Yassir Arafat (b: 1929-d: November 11, 2004)  of the PLO (Palestine Liberation organization) organized the terrorist Fatah group in 1959.  Yes, they were terrorists. Yasser Arafat was elected president of the Palestinian National Council with 88.1 percent of the popular vote, becoming the first democratically elected leader of the Palestinian people in history.

Hillary Clinton saw nothing wrong with Arafat

Arafat had a worldwide program of terror activities aimed at Israel, Zionist and Jewish targets.  He was so bad that the king of Jordan, King Hussein in 1970, kicked him out.  By 1982  he was ousted from Lebanon by the IDF of Israel. Arafat supported Saddam Hussein during the 1991 Gulf War.  In 1988 the PLO proclaimed a Palestinian state with Arafat as president.

On 6 May 2017, Haniyeh was elected chairman of Hamas's Political Bureau, replacing Khaled Mashaal; at the time, Haniyeh relocated from Gaza to Qatar.  On 26 July 2023, Haniyeh met with Erdoğan and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. Behind the meeting was Turkey's effort to reconcile Fatah with Hamas.  Israel says it has destroyed the home of senior Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, which is being used by other Hamas leaders being he's in Qatar.

This government effectively collapsed with the outbreak of the violent conflict between Hamas and Fatah. After the takeover of the Gaza Strip by Hamas on 14 June 2007, Palestinian Authority Chairman Abbas dismissed the Hamas-led government and appointed Salam Fayyad Prime Minister.

When Barack Hussein Obama became president in the USA January 20, 2009, one of the first things he did was go to Cairo on June 4th in an attempt to improve U.S. relations with the Muslim world.,  Elections were scheduled to be held in 2009, but was postponed because of the Fatah–Hamas conflict.  The PNA has a multi-party system, with numerous parties. In this system, Fatah is the dominant party.

According to Human Rights Watch, at least 32 people were killed by these attacks in 2009: 18 during the conflict and 14 afterward, and several dozen more were maimed, many by shots to the legs. On 31 May 2009, six people were killed as Palestinian Authority and Hamas forces clashed in Qalqilya, Judea/Samaria.

Elections for the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) were held in Palestinian Autonomous areas from 1994 until their transition into the State of Palestine in 2013.  Elections were scheduled to be held in 2009, but was postponed because of the Fatah–Hamas conflict. President Mahmoud Abbas agreed to stay on until the next election, but he is recognized as president only in the West Bank and not by Hamas in Gaza. The Palestinian National Authority has held several elections in the Palestinian territories, including elections for president, the legislature and local councils.

Hezbollah Says Hamas Has Suffered for the Past 75 Years? Nonsense

 Nadene Goldfoot

Ismail Abdel Salam Ahmed Haniyeh is a Palestinian politician who is a senior political leader of Hamas, the current chairman of Hamas’s political bureau. Haniyeh was born in the Al-Shati refugee camp in the Gaza Strip in 1962.
             The run-down Shati Refugee Camp
  • Gaza Strip: The Gaza Strip has eight official and no unofficial refugee camps, and 1,221,110 registered refugees. UN marks 75 years since displacement of 700,000 Palestinians | UN News. I believe they are the longest refugees  that the UN has had to maintain.

  • The mass displacement in 1948, known as the Nakba (meaning “catastrophe” in Arabic), has an importance to Palestinians across the world, said Rosemary DiCarlo, Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, addressing a high-level event at UN Headquarters in New York, marking the day.  They consider Israel's existence of a country as an occupation on the land.  That's what their leaders have led them to believe.  For 75 years---unbelievable that people would continue to live and think like this.
It's amazing to me that there is a refugee camp holding people in Gaza, which is populated by Palestinian Arabs.  Al-Shati was established in 1948 for about 23,000 Palestinians who fled or were expelled from the cities of Jaffa, Lod and Beersheba as well as surrounding villages during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. The camp's total land area consists of 520 dunums.  Israel certainly did not expect them to continue to live in a refugee camp from 1948 to 2023, 75 years.  That is their decision.  The refugee camp is in the hands of the Hamas terrorists, not Israel.  A refugee camp is a temporary condition.  Since Muslims allow a man 4 wives at a time, I'm not surprised that their numbers have increased 4 times over.

According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS), al-Shati had a population of 40,734 inhabitants in 2017. As of July 2023, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) reports a population of 90,173 registered refugees. The camp is the third largest refugee camp in the Palestinian Territories.

Before September 2000, when Israel closed off its border with the Gaza Strip due to the violence of the Second Intifada, the majority of al-Shati's work force were laborers in Israel or worked in agriculture. Today, some refugees work in workshops and sewing factories. A sizable number of the camp's 2453 families depend on fishing for income. It contains a sewage system, a health center and 23 schools (17 primary, 6 secondary).

Palestinian rescuers attempt to put out a fire as they stand on the rubble of a collapsed building following a strike by the Israeli military on Khan Yunis. (below)

The latest news is that The home of Hamas’ senior political leader was destroyed in an alleged Israeli airstrike Saturday, officials said. The family residence of Ismail Haniyeh, located in the Shati refugee camp on the northern outskirts of Gaza City, was hit Saturday morning, according to the Hamas-run media outlet in Gaza. There were no immediate details about possible casualties or the true extent of the damage.  At the time of the strike, Haniyeh’s home was being used by his two sons, senior Hamas official Ghazi Hamad said.Haniyeh was elected Hamas’ political chief in 2017, and has lived in luxurious “exile” in Qatar since 2019.  Qatar is where Blinken went to talk with the leaders about the attack on Israel and the result of the war.

"Blinken went into joint talks with the foreign ministers of Qatar, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, and the chair of the PLO executive committee. All have denounced Israel's tactics against Hamas, which they say constitutes unlawful collective punishment of the Palestinian people."

Of course, Hamas, who were the purveyors of the shocking barbaric killings of Israelis during the Music Festival and other attacks along the border on October 7th would say that.

First of all, Hamas was created in 1987 and only won  their parliamentary elections in January 2006. It's the offshoot of Fatah, the fighting section.

Israel has been living under bombardment of rockets, mortars and missiles all this time along the border, especially the town of Sderot, and Ashkelon where the hospital that takes in all people has had to move to the basement for surgery, etc.  and occasional hits in Tel Aviv.

75 years ago on May 14, 1948, Israel was created.  That's what they are moaning and groaning about, created because the Ottoman Empire, who owned the land, lost it in World War I to the Allies, Britain, France, etc.  The Brits held a 30 year mandate and left in 1948, which  is when the Jews took their land back according to all the legal deals and papers necessary.

Hamas is closely tied to Syria, Iran and Lebanon.  It receives funds from Iran and also have been getting funds from Saudi Arabia, the Gulf States, Western Europe, Hezbollah and others.  It's listed as a terror organization by US State Department.

Chaim Weizmann and Emir Feisal in Paris meetings

Just think, in the 1920s, Emir Feisal met Chaim Weizmann and was all for Israel's birth, hoping that the Arabs living there would profit and learn trades and so on and benefit from it.  His attitude changed by the attacks by Haj Amin al-Husseini, the Sherif of Jerusalem, known as the Grand Mufti, who was against the Jews living on the land and had even gone to Hitler to complain and seek help to stop them.  Feisal went on to be king of Iraq and king of Syria. If he had more appeal to the Arabs, they would have had a much better life. they chose the wrong man to follow when they went along with the Mufti who was the local and not Feisal, an educated man of the world.

Since then they voted in Hamas, and not Fatah.  Even in politics they made poor choices.  It's thought that they were strong-armed into voting this way, which could be true.  Then again, they had never voted before and were a people easily led.  I bet the voting apparatus could have been faulty, like Trump thought his was, especially in Gaza.

Between the Mufti and Hamas, the Palestinian Arabs have raised more Hamas terrorists.  Their schools have taught hatred for Jews.  Their parents have been brain-washed against Jews. That hatred spilled out on October 7th in an unbelievable act of violence.  There is no way that Israelis can live with such people on their borders anymore.  Trust as human beings just went out the window.

How Fatah and Hamas-Led Palestinians Will Never Co-Exist, Remain Burdens on UNRWA

 Nadene Goldfoot

A picture of Ein El-Hilweh refugee camp in Lebanon shows the overcrowding in the camp and the difficulty of achieving social distancing [Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ)]  As of 5 October, according to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) the total number of Covid-19 cases among Palestinian refugees in Lebanon was 1,282 with 478 active cases and 31 deaths. Based on these numbers, the General Director of the Rafic Hariri Government Hospital, Dr Firas Al-Abiad, tweeted that the Covid-19 mortality rate among Palestinians in Lebanon is 2.4 per cent, "more than double Lebanon's 1 per cent rate."

At the very least, it is estimated that 36,000 Palestinian refugees will need intensive care out of a total population of 224,901, which includes camp residents and Palestinian refugees from Syria, a statistic taken from the Committee's document. Given that the mortality risk is higher for those aged 70 and over, around 10,825 Palestinians are already vulnerable.

"The UN agency that supports Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, on Tuesday appealed for $1.6 billion to support its lifesaving work this year amid acute regional crises and chronic funding shortfalls. "  "UNRWA provides services and programmes, including education, health and food assistance, to more than five million Palestinians across the Middle East."

Mahmoud Abbas (Arabic: مَحْمُود عَبَّاس,  born 15 November 1935),  is the president of the State of Palestine and the Palestinian National Authority. He has been the chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) since 11 November 2004, PNA president since 15 January 2005, and State of Palestine president since 8 May 2005-now for the past 17 years.  Abbas is also a member of the Fatah party and was elected chairman in 2009.

Ismail Abdel Salam Ahmed Haniyeh (born 29 January 1962) is a senior political leader of Hamas and formerly one of two disputed Prime Ministers of the Palestinian National Authority. Haniyeh became prime minister after Hamas won the Palestinian legislative elections of 2006- now for the past 16 years.Hamas was originally the strong-arm of Fatah, and got so powerful that they broke away to rule themselves.   He's become an Iranian puppet. (Jason Greenblatt).  (updated 10/12/22)

The 2022 budget proposal includes additional emergency funding to address humanitarian needs arising from crises in:

 1. Gaza-ruled by Ismail Haniyeh,

 2. West Bank (Judea-Samaria)-ruled by Mahmoud Abbas

These two men have never agreed with each other and fight for single power.  They haven't changed yet.

3. Syria--by President Bashar al-Assad-Bashar Hafez al-Assad who is a Syrian politician and the 19th president of Syria, since 17 July 2000- for the past 22 years. In addition, he is the commander-in-chief of the Syrian Armed Forces and the Secretary-General of the Central Command of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party.

COAR(an international association that acts as a global voice for the repository community.---COAR is an international association with 157 members and partners from around the world representing libraries, universities, research institutions, government funders and others.)  says that Syria is already a failed state.  "On 17 June, the U.S. Department of the Treasury officially enacted the sanctions contained in the Caesar Syria Civilian Protection Act, thus beginning an inauspicious new phase of the long Syria conflict. The sanctions targeted 39 Syrian individuals, including President Bashar Al-Assad and his wife, Asma, in addition to members of the extended Al-Assad family, senior military leaders, and business executives. Many of the sanctioned individuals were already designated under existing U.S. sanctions."

 and

4. Lebanon--by President Michel Aoun. Michel Naim Aoun is a Lebanese politician and former military general who has served as the President of Lebanon since 31 October 2016-for the past 6 years, the new kid on the block. Lebanon and Israel through the USA just came to an agreement about a gas discovery in the sea.

Shu'fat camp is located on the outskirts of Jerusalem. The Israeli settlement of Pisgat Zeev, illegal under international law, is located to the camp’s north. The camp was established by UNRWA in 1965 in order to provide improved housing for the roughly 500 refugee families living in Mu'askar camp in the Old City of Jerusalem.  This refugee camp is 57 years old, and looks like a town or city to me; but its people are mostly surviving on UNRWA.  Shu'fat camp was annexed by Israel after the 1967 hostilities ( considered illegal by UNRWA and rest of world) even though Israel won the 1967 war -a huge attack against them by all the Arab countries)  when Israel unilaterally established new municipal boundaries for Jerusalem. Camp residents still hold Jerusalem IDs and, unlike West Bank ID holders, are allowed to reside in Jerusalem.

Because the Israeli Ministry of the Interior has a policy of revoking Jerusalem IDs from Palestinians who do not have their ‘centre of life’ in Jerusalem, the camp has become a popular place of residence for Palestinians (non-refugees) with Jerusalem IDs who might not otherwise be able to afford the high living costs of Jerusalem.

The Palestinians of Gaza, Judea-Samaria and Israel have been without a country ever since they entered Palestine in the 1880's to work for the Jewish returnees to their homeland and were in the act of building up their home.  The Palestinian Arabs were looking for jobs in building.  At the time, anyone living in Palestine (named by Romans in 135 CE) were called Palestinians.

Many of these Arab Palestinians came from Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and many from farther places than that, all documented and verified in the book, FROM TIME IMMEMORIAL, by Joan Peters.

War of Independence 1947-1949

Since the Arab attack on Jews at the announcement of the State of Israel on May 14, 1948, all the Arabs attacked the Jewish Israelis, telling the Arab Palestinians what to do--to leave, and let them win the battle.  Well, they were wrong.  The Jews won, keeping their new state, and the Palestinian Arabs were led to live in refugee camps---now seemingly forever.

Since 1948, they have been fed and clothed by UNRWA- 74 years, the same age as Israel.   What skills have they learned to support themselves?  Make bombs, dig tunnels, What mindset have they given to their families?  Sacrifice their children in the name of a future nationalism of their Palestine; hatred for Jews. That's what living in a refugee camp has done for most all of their people.

The number of Palestinian workers in Israel and Israeli settlements was an estimated 130,000 in 2019, according to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD)—but is likely to be higher due to the number who cross into Israel without permits.[1] Most Palestinians work in Israel’s construction sector, where it is estimated that they make up 65-70 percent of the workforce.

The Israeli minister for construction and housing was quoted in the Israeli media explaining that the construction sector must continue as normal “to ensure that construction in Israel for the benefit of home buyers will not be affected, even in the current exceptional circumstances.”  So in Israel, Palestinians are keeping the skills their ancestors came with, and using them. Still, Palestinian murderers keep on attacking Israelis at any given moment; the IDF being their most favored target.  Are they among these with employment?  Or are they coming in from other sources?

Soda Stream had jobs for Palestinians in Judea-Samaria.  The company left the West Bank-(Judea-Samaria) because the CO said the boycott (BDS)  against them was anti-Semitic and pointless. They even had Golden Globe nominee Scarlett Johansson as the official global ambassador for SodaStream International, the Israeli-made manufacturer and distributor of home beverage carbonation systems.

It's time, way past time for the Palestinian Arab refugees to be freed from just being on the dole of UNRA, treated as a child, and allowed to learn to be honest bread-winners and be able to support their own families by the sweat of their own brows. Such skills must be something that will help their population they live in, not killing or harming others.  They need to learn that Jews are their cousins and not their enemy.  They have so much to learn other than what they have picked up in UNRWA camps which have become political prisons spreading hate.

Israel took in the very same numbers of Jewish refugees that came streaming out of Arab countries in 1948, the birth of their re-born nation.  They managed.  It's time Lebanon and Syria and the other took back their own people by making them citizens and not of refugee status anymore.   In being realistic, I realize that this is a bad time;  these countries are barely able to hang on as a country themselves and are about to fold.

"In 2014, the United Nations General Assembly recommended that 2014 a year of solidarity with the Palestinian people and called on people around the world to recognize their “inalienable rights”.

Perhaps 2016 should become the Jewish year of solidarity with the Jewish refugees from Arab countries and there should be greater recognition, understanding and education of the inalienable rights of these people to rights and redress" but Israel took them all in, ready for them or not.

There are Palestinians in Israel who are citizens.  In other Arab countries, they are refugees on the dole with UNRWA, a source of finance and control.
