One Reason Why Nazism Is Growing: The Gene Causing Us To Copy Others

 Nadene Goldfoot

Copying stance, attitude of parent, friend, teacher

I was teaching a small group of 1st graders when one purposely fell out of his chair and onto the floor.  The others laughed and thought that funny.  Then they all copied the act and fell out of their seats on purpose.  It reminded me that Chimps learn in this way.  The fact is that almost all (99.9%) nucleotide bases of DNA are exactly the same in all people;  and 97% are the same as the chimpanzee's.  Young ones learn by what they see. There seems to be an impulse in people to copy what they see.  That's why food advertisements are working.  We see people eating pizza for dinner and we get the idea, too, to have pizza for dinner.  It looks so yummy.   Exercising, boating, hiking, skiing, swimming, watch it and we want to do it, too---or not.

Yet our children are not chimps.  Their learning includes analyzing the good from bad behaviors so as not to copy the bad ones.  Those who have grown up hating groups for no reason other than some group they have associated with,  does so which is not the outcome of an intelligent person;  just more-like a chimp.

Anti-Semitism is growing alarmingly fast these days, reaching the boiling point that was reached in Germany in the late 1930's.  It's frightening as to how many hate-filled groups have included anti-Semitism in their mission.  Whatever it is that they hate-they include Jews;  people most have never known personally, so it's all they hear about from family, friends and groups they belong to.  Monkey see-monkey do.

Another name for copying is the Chameleon Affect.  The chameleon effect is an unknowing mimic of other people’s behaviors, and it’s perfectly normal. If you live or interact with another person or people for long enough, you are bound to pick up some of their behaviors, mannerisms, facial expressions, and gestures. You might particularly notice the chameleon effect in couples who have been together for a long time, or best friends. The chameleon effect has been shown to have a positive impact on human social interactions. According to Tanya L. Chartrand and John A. Bargh, two psychologists who were the first to explore the phenomenon, very empathetic people are more likely to imitate others than people who aren’t.

However, when people who aren’t very empathetic attempt to mimic someone else, the gesture can ring false and have the opposite effect of the social advantages one typically gets because of the chameleon effect.

It's been 78 years since WWII ended in 1945, and yet we see anti-Semitism growing wildly again after the horrors of the Holocaust.  You'd think that after such a horrifying period, it would never copy the Nazis again with such an attitude towards Jews or others just because they are different in some area.

Hungary has become a hateful country towards Jews, ironically the last country to haul away their Jewish citizens in WWII.  After Hungary's 1989 transition from communism to democracy and the introduction of free speech and a free press, nostalgia for the Miklós Horthy era and the writings of Albert Wass appeared and antisemitism re-emerged. Whether economic and social changes fed the sudden increase in antisemitism or covert hostility toward Jews surfaced as a consequence of new civil liberties is debated.

In the years 1994–2006, between 10% and 15% of the Hungarian adult population were found to be strongly antisemitic. Anti-Jewish sentiment responded to political campaigns: antisemitism increased in election years and then fell back to its previous level. This trend altered after 2006, and the surveys indicate an increase in prejudice since 2009.  The Nazis frequently used propaganda to disguise their political aims and deceive the German and international public. They depicted Germany as the victim of Allied and Jewish aggression to hide their true ideological goals and to justify war and violence against innocent civilians.

Hungary is an ally in coalition operations, including NATO missions in Afghanistan, Iraq, and the Balkans. The United States established diplomatic relations with Hungary in 1921 following the dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy at the end of World War I.  It was WWII that Jews were taken away by the Nazis and killed last in the War.

Orban in 2022 at age 59, instilling anti-Semitism in his people.

It seems that large elements of the American Right have Fallen in love with Hungary.  Some U.S. conservatives are taking a cue from Prime Minister Viktor Orban  on how to use the power of the state to win the culture wars.

Viktor Mihly Orban (Hungarian:  born 31 May 1963) is a Hungarian politician who has served as prime minister of Hungary  since 2010, previously holding the office from 1998 to 2002.  He has presided over Fidesz since 1993, with a brief break between 2000 and 2003.  he is highly anti-Semitic

May 2, 2019 — U.S. President Donald Trump will host Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán for talks on May 13, Hungary's foreign minister said Thursday. That was in 2019.

A bipartisan group in Congress this year of 2023  is drafting US sanctions that would target leading Hungarian political figures tied to the Orbán government, as the relationship between the two countries continues to spiral downwards.  The sanctions bill would name former officials and government supporters, mostly affiliated with the Fidesz party of the prime minister, Viktor Orbán.  The legislation has been in preparation since last year and is expected to go before Congress as soon as next month where it is likely to draw broad support, according to officials familiar with the drafting process.

In a speech delivered to the 31st Bálványos Free Summer University and Student Camp in July 2022, Orbán expressed views that were later described as "a pure Nazi text" that was "worthy of Goebbels" by one of his senior advisers, Zsuzsa Hegedus, in her letter of resignation. In the speech, Orbán stated that "Migration has split Europe in two – or I could say that it has split the West in two. One half is a world where European and non-European peoples live together. These countries are no longer nations: they are nothing more than a conglomeration of peoples" and "we are willing to mix with one another, but we do not want to become peoples of mixed-race". The speech drew condemnation from both the Romanian foreign ministry and other European leaders. Two days latter, in Wien, Orbán made it clear, he was talking about cultures and not genetics. Zsuzsa Hegedüs later, in a letter to Orbán expressed that she is proud of him, and he can count on her like he could in the past 20 years.

Later that month, he touched on this criticism in a speech at the CPAC opening in Dallas, saying that "a Christian politician cannot be racist" and calling his critics "simply idiots". He also attacked billionaire George Soros, of Jewish Hungarian birth, former United States President Barack Obama, "globalists," and the United States' Democratic Party.  Watch the opening of CPAC in Hungary 2023 with Matt Schlapp, Chairman of the Conservative Political Action Coalition, and Miklós Szánthó, Director of the Center for Fundamental Rights.

Copying others has its normal reaction, but note that those who are not apathetic to others and copy do not have the same affect on their behaviors or thoughts.  It's most important to develop that feeling of being empathetic towards others, and starts with pets and having empathy towards animals as well as with people.

From what we're seeing with anti-Semitism, some people are more prone to copy others without any realization of why other than others also are anti-Semitic.  They are the follow-the -crowd type of people other than having leadership qualities.  It's a pretty sad state of affairs when whole cities or states tend to be like this like what happened with Germany.  When the few woke up to the fact, they found they were also in peril;  that they had waited too long.

This copying tendency has extremely dangerous results;  a community made up of hatred towards others with the others part expanding into other areas as well.

Nicholas Joseph Fuentes (born August 18, 1998) is an American white supremacist political commentator and live streamer. A former YouTuber, his channel was permanently suspended in February 2020 for violating YouTube's hate speech policy. He is known for holding antisemitic views and denying the Holocaust. Fuentes identifies as a member of the incel movement, as a supporter of authoritarian government, and as a Catholic integralist and Christian nationalist.

The issue came into focus in the last week after former President Donald Trump welcomed to his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida for dinner the well-known white power leader and antisemite Nicholas Fuentes, an organizer and speaker at many “Stop the Steal” protests after the 2020 presidential election.

Here Trump backed Israel due to his son-in-laws' influence,

and then he turns around and welcomes a known influencial anti-Semite to dinner which is like giving him the stamp of approval.  Why?

Protestors at the 2017 Unite the Right rally, which was promoted by the alt-right. One man carries the logo of Vanguard America, and another has a T-shirt depicting German Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.

Collaborating with Patrick Casey, a former leader of the neo-Nazi organization Identity Evropa in 2019, Fuentes' followers, known as Groypers, began to heckle Turning Point's Culture War Tour, including a speaking event for Donald Trump Jr. In 2020, seeking to establish a white supremacist conference to rival CPAC, Fuentes began holding the annual America First Political Action Conference (AFPAC). Fuentes attended the 2017 white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, and he later was an attendee and speaker at events preceding the 2021 United States Capitol attack. He has encouraged the use of jokes and irony among white nationalist groups, stating that it "is so important for giving a lot of cover and plausible deniability for our views".

Alt-Right:  The Alternative Right, commonly known as the "alt-right," is a set of far-right ideologies, groups and individuals whose core belief is that “white identity” is under attack by multicultural forces using “political correctness” and “social justice” to undermine white people and “their” civilization.  The anti-Semites have a seat in this group.

Hitler with another copycat;  Mussolini of Italy

In late November 2022, Fuentes, along with Kanye West, met with former President Donald Trump for a private dinner. The meeting received significant comment from domestic and international political figures, with the debate surrounding the dinner being called "the most discomfiting moment in U.S. history in a half-century or more" for American Jews.

Fuentes nd West take their lead from Hitler himself, again, what monkeysee, monkey do.

CPAC,, the Conservative Political Action Republicans and Viktor Orban Part I

 Nadene Goldfoot

The Conservative Political Action Conference is the largest and most influential gathering of conservatives in the world. Launched in 1974, CPAC brings together hundreds of conservative organizations, thousands of activists, millions of viewers and the best and brightest leaders in the world. It is being held in  Dallas, Texas!

Former Vice President Mike Pence and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, who have also been floated as possible 2024 contenders, are not scheduled to speak at the event.  Republicans are missing the boat by passing up the best in the party, these two.

    Orban at the Conference 2022

Instead, the main speaker was Viktor Orban b: May 31, 1963, Prime Minister of Hungary.  Now, when people are invited to be the key speaker like he was, it's because they are admired and honored.  Viktor Mihály Orbán is a Hungarian politician who has served as prime minister of Hungary since 2010, previously holding the office from 1998 to 2002. He has presided over Fidesz, since 1993, with a brief break between 2000 and 2003. He is known to be a big anti-Semite.

He was introduced by the announcer say, "Ladies and Gentlemen, this is how we fight!  This is Victor Orban."

The Hungarian prime minister, under fire over a July 23 speech, highlighted a type of nationalistic populism taking hold on the American right.  Orbán got a warm CPAC reception after 'mixed race' speech blowback.  “I’m here to tell you that we should unite our forces,” said Orbán, the Hungarian prime minister who has found himself increasingly alienated from democratic countries in Europe, as he has opposed immigration and liberal views on family and gender — and increasingly close with the MAGA-aligned American right.

Touching on his signature issues, the far-right leader railed against immigration, globalism and gender fluidity as he declared that the “West is at war with itself,” describing an ideological “battle for Western civilization” he said would be fought in Washington and Brussels.   His July 23 comments that Hungary must not become a “mixed-race” country, pointing to other nations in Europe with large immigrant populations. One of Orbán’s top aides resigned over his comments, saying his speech sounded as if it were given by a “Nazi.

Orbán received a welcome reception from American activists who seemed unfamiliar with — but intrigued by — his policy of increased government spending to promote traditional marriage and encouraging citizens to have more children. Matt Schlapp, who chairs the American Conservative Union that hosts CPAC, said after Orbán’s controversial remarks that the conference would “let the man speak.”

And Schlapp and his organization, like Tucker Carlson and other right-wing American commentators, have developed a cozy relationship with Orbán and his government in Hungary. In May, CPAC held its first conference in Hungary, where former President Donald Trump addressed the audience by video. On Tuesday, Orbán was welcomed by Trump to his golf club in Bedminster, N.J., where he called the Hungarian leader a “friend.  “The globalists can all go to hell,” Orbán said to enthusiastic applause. “I have come to Texas.”

When President Donald Trump hosted Orban in 2019 in Washington, he should have known  was  welcoming a leader who deals in hateful anti-Semitic tropes.  He covers it up with naive people he addresses by saying Jews are safe in Israel and in Hungary.  Do we all still believe everything we are told?  Would you believe words out of the mouth of Alex Jones?  He was just on trial and lost for lying about Sandy Hook's children whose hoax Jones peddled caused the parents a living hell.

The 2022 Conservative Political Action Conference was held on February 24 to 27 in Orlando, Florida. Speakers included former U.S. president Donald Trump, Florida governor Ron DeSantis, and former Democratic congresswoman and presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard.

Hungarian leader, Miklos Horthy and Hitler, buddies in 1938

The man brings to the mind how Hitler started his course in life.  How can humanity swallow such beliefs and repeat the most horrible period of all time by swallowing such a person again?   Last year, Orban raised concerns in Hungary’s Jewish community when he praised the country’s interwar leader Miklos Horthy, a Hitler ally, and used an image of Jewish U.S. financier George Soros in an anti-immigration billboard campaign. For Horthy, Hitler served as a bulwark against Soviet encroachment or invasion. Horthy was obsessed with the Communist threat. One American diplomat remarked that Horthy's anti-communist tirades were so common and ferocious that diplomats "discounted it as a phobia".

Tucker Carlson of Fox News On Russia's Side in Invading Ukraine

 Nadene Goldfoot

Tucker Carlson of Fox has been repeatedly giving his support for Vladimir Putin's threatened invasion of the rest of Ukraine !  How can anyone in the USA agree with a Nazi-type move of invading another's country?  First off, Tucker must have failed in geography in school.  Then he should have failed in history as well.

Ukraine is a country in Eastern Europe. It is the second-largest country by area in Europe after Russia, which it borders to the east and north-east.   It spans an area of 603,628 km2 (233,062 sq mi), with a population of 41.3 million, and is the eighth-most populous country in Europe.  It's about twice as large and more populous than Poland was in 1939 when Hitler invaded Poland.  The nation's capital and largest city is Kyiv.

OSCE SMM monitoring the movement of heavy weaponry in eastern Ukraine, 4 March 2015

The USA didn't ignore Europe's pleas of help in 1914 or 1941 during the 1st or the 2nd world war.  When a dictator comes for another, they are also going to get around to us as well. In other words, "When they come for any of us they come for all of us. " Wouldn't we want help from others if we were invaded and harmed first?  This happens to be the Golden Rule of life.  "Don't do to others that which you don't want to happen to you."

The United States learned this lesson in The War of 1812.  The War of 1812 moved us into the modern era.  We become equal globally and foreshadowed a future of superiority to the other global powers.  At the time we were only 36 years old.  It was the result of that war that showed us that we had a position in the world.  What does Carlson think, that we can suddenly go neutral?

President of Georgia Salome ZurabishviliPresident of Moldova Maia SanduUkrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European Council President Charles Michel during the 2021 International Conference in Batumi. In 2014, the EU signed association agreements with all three countries.

For many states, such as Ireland and Sweden, neutrality does not mean the absence of any foreign interventionism. Peacekeeping missions for the United Nations are seen as intertwined with it. The Swiss electorate rejected a 1994 proposal to join UN peacekeeping operations. Despite this, 23 Swiss observers and police have been deployed around the world in UN projects.

Seems that Tucker Carlson is telling his viewers to ignore the Nazi-like ambition of the Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orban.

Another message he is giving out is "How insidious Jews are secretly controlling the world, and only through fighting them  can the Western civilization be saved.  He's promoting anti-Semitism!

Greenblatt is the grandson of a Holocaust survivor. He is married to Marjan Keypour Greenblatt, an Iranian Jewish political refugee to the United States who is the founder and director of The Alliance for Rights of All Minorities (ARAM), a non-profit. They have three children.

"It cannot be overstated enough," ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt tweeted Friday. "For @TuckerCarlson, host of one of the most watched news programs in the country, to use his platform as a megaphone to spread the toxic and xenophobic 'Great Replacement' theory, is repugnant and a dangerous abuse of power."  "A reminder: 'The Great Replacement' theory and its racist and xenophobic roots have served as the inspiration for multiple mass shootings and deadly attacks," the official Twitter account for ADL shared the same day."    David Duke is thrilled that Carlson is joining his side of wanting all White  power.

On Monday, he delivered a 20-minute defense of his “replacement” idea. At the end he took aim at the ADL, saying its defense of Israel’s Jewish majority and opposition to the return of Palestinian refugees contradicts its advocacy for immigrants in the United States.  “In the words of the ADL, why would a government subvert its own sovereign existence?” he wondered, referring to an essay on the ADL’s website.  He's trying to compare oranges with apples and wondering why oranges don't make as good as sauce.  In looking over the web articles I have found, it seems that Carlson is for all the subjects that we have been against.  Is he just trying to get negative attention like a little schoolboy?

Has he found a large audience that he's appealing to that believes all this stuff?  Evidently Fox thinks so.  He hasn't been fired like Bill O'Reilly was.  Bill was let go in 2017.  After weeks of public criticism — and an advertising boycott involving more than 80 companies — Fox News has dropped Bill O’Reilly, the longtime TV host who has repeatedly faced claims of sexual harassment, according to a press release Wednesday afternoon from parent company 21st Century Fox.

Tucker Carlson has been a big supporter of Hungary's PM Orbán on his program and has made past trips to visit what he describes as a “simple, sweet country” that has learned how to deal with this insidious threat. As Fox News correspondent Tucker Carlson prepares to travel to Hungary once again, the New York Young Republican Club (NYYRC) on Monday endorsed the country's autocratic leader, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.  Orbán has served as Hungary's prime minister since 2010 and is up for re-election in the spring.  In its official endorsement, the NYYRC called Orbán "a great defender of Western Civilization and the rights of the family.  Orban is a 2-faced PM who swings with the wind.  You can't depend on him.  He goes where he gets the most for the least.  The Young Republicans need to go back to school and this time to learn the true facts.

An anti-Jewish sign posted on a road in Germany reads, “Jews are not wanted here.”

In December, Fox News backed one of these reports by posting a cartoon to social media in which Soros was a hook-nosed puppet-master, pulling the strings of Democratic officials. That cartoon has since been removed after protests by the Anti-Defamation League.  Orban is a two-faced individual who threw in any Democratic bone he ever had and sided with Hitler during WWII.  Hungary was as anti-Semitic as Lithuania was; as bad as they all were towards Jews.   Evidently Carlson doesn't care. He said, "Why do I care? Why shouldn’t I root for Russia? Which I am.”

Incidently:  Jews account for approximately 0.2 percent of the global population. And yet antisemites believe that this tiny minority is not only on a quest for total world domination, but is already in control of banks, the media, industry, government — even the weather.1

As recently as March 2018, a Washington D.C. city council member claimed that the Rothschild family, a Jewish family known for a bank they founded in Frankfurt, was “controlling the climate to create natural disasters they can pay for to own the cities.”2 Jews have also been blamed for economic crises, from the Great Depression to the 2008 recession.3

This is anti-Semitism.

Hungary's Two-Faced Prime Minister, Viktor Orban Supports Anti- Semitism

 Nadene Goldfoot

Viktor Orban, Prime Minister of Hungary since 2010

Back on June 29, 2017, almost 5 years ago, the anti-Defamation League (ADL), warned us about remarks made by the Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, who was praising a notorious anti-Semite and ally of Hitler and Nazi Germany, the Hungarian leader, Miklos Horthy.   This man, Horthy, had introduced  anti-Semitic legislation, allied with Nazi Germany, and deported Jews to their death, and Orban was praising him. It was the whole Hungarian government who took this position!

Orbán has reinvigorated his government’s anti-Soros campaign, which has often been marked by conspiratorial and antisemitic rhetoric, as Hungary and Poland have tussled with other European leaders over the so-called “rule-of-law” mechanism (human rights within the EU). The dispute is holding up final agreement on the EU’s €1.7tn (£1.5tn) seven-year budget and recovery package.  (https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/campaigns/2020/09/hungary-rule-of-law/)

Hungary’s rightwing prime minister, Viktor Orbán, is threatening to veto the new EU budget over a provision that would link some funding to rule-of-law concerns. As the standoff intensifies, he has found a familiar enemy to blame: the 90-year-old financier and philanthropist George Soros.

The Hungarian prime minister told Tucker Carlson of Fox News that Biden has "limited knowledge" of his country, and therefore cannot understand the issues at hand when he makes such remarks.  "Somebody who does not speak our language has a very limited knowledge on Hungary, even in the recent several decades of our life, not understanding of obviously having an opinion like that," he said. "You know, it's by itself, it's a personal insult for all the Hungarians."

Biden's 2020 opponent, Trump, was notably close with Orban – as the left-leaning Brookings Institution claimed that the then-president's hosting of Poland's Andrzej Duda was essentially helping him in his reelection bid against a left-leaning Warsaw mayor.  Orban – speaking with "Tucker Carlson Tonight" on Thursday -- was the first European leader to endorse Trump's reelection bid, while Trump lauded Orban's border security and counterterrorism policies, as well as endeavors to "protect and help Christian communities" throughout the world.

Haj Amin al-Husseini, Sherif of Jerusalem, meeting in Germany with Hitler to solve his problems with Jews...

When Nazism came to power, it affected Hungary as well.  The scope of anti-Jewish measures enacted by the Hungarian government increased.

Notice Germany's proximity to Czech Republic, Poland...

After Adolf Hitler rose to power in 1933, the Hungarian government became interested in making an alliance with Nazi Germany for their own self preservation.  To do so, they took on the attributes of the Nazis.

Hungary was awarded more land in March 1941 when, despite its alliance with the Yugoslav government, Hungary joined its new ally, Germany, in invading and splitting up Yugoslavia. By that time, with all its new territories, the Jewish population in Greater Hungary had reached 725,007, not including about 100,000 Jews who had converted to Christianity but were still racially considered to be “Jews.”

Hungary's government have celebrated openly anti-Semitic public figures such as Erno Raffay who compared Muslim migrants to Jewish immigrants of the 19th century by saying that the Jews had multiplied and pushed Hungarians from many areas of their own society.  This should be a lesson to Hungary, he added.

Orban's close friend, Zsolt Bayer, journalist, 10 years ago described two well-known Jews as "stinking excrement." He regretted that Hungary didn't bury all the Jews up to their necks in the woods of Orgovany.  He was referred to the White Terror massacres of Jews and Communists by counter-revolutionary soldiers in 1919.   Bayer is known for his anti-Semitic  comments.  These Jews were the French-German politician, Daniel Cohn Bendit and  Hungarian-born pianist, Andras Schiff.

Such an anti-Semite was awarded 3 years later with the Order of Merit of the Knight's Cross, one of the highest in Hungary.  The government seems to be playing with its population, praising anti-Semites with one side of their mouths while condemning anti-Semitism with the other.

These anti-Jewish measures were also applied to the 300,000 Jews in territories which the Hungarians annexed from Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia and Romania during WWII.  In 1944, the Nazis overran Hungary, imposing ghettos, concentration camps, and deportations to extermination centers.  Of Hungary's 725,000 Jews, about 400,000 were killed. Hungary's total population in 1939 was 9,129,000.  Yugoslavia had 15,490,000.  Romania had 19,933,800.

Hungary's role in the Holocaust is nothing to brag about.  Between May and the middle of July 1944, , some 450,000 Hungarian Jews were deported and 350,000 gassed at Auschwitz.  They were the last country to suffer from the Holocaust.  In total, between 1939 and 1945, 6,000,000 Jewish victims were slaughtered by the Nazis. The head Nazi, Goering,'s answer to Hitler's Jewish Question, was to  involve a dozen countries, many of which, like Hungary and Italy, had not turned against their Jews in any murderous way yet, would do so.

"Hungary has attempted to relativize Hungary's role in the Holocaust over and over again. A few ways it does so is by erecting statues or monuments — like Budapest's Memorial for Victims of the German Occupation, which critics say relativizes Hungary's role in the deportation of more than 440,000 Jews during the Holocaust — or setting up museums, such as the controversial "House of Terror" in Budapest. Anti-Semitic writers such as Albert Wass who was sentenced in absentia to death for war crimes in 1946 are now part of the national curriculum.

"The problem, not only in Hungary," argued Heisler, "is that politicians from all camps play the ‘Jew card' when it works for them politically." He has called on all politicians and parties to put a stop to anti-Semitism.

            Vicktor Orban

Mr. Orban is the apogee of these contradictions: He is a far-right leader of a country whose Jewish citizens say they face less harassment than Jews in any other part of Europe. Mr. Orban and his party, Fidesz, have used anti-Semitic tropes to promote his vision of Hungarian nationalism, and have been accused of trying to understate Hungarian complicity in the Holocaust — even as he has bankrolled many Jewish institutions and causes.

Under Mr. Orban, anti-Semitic authors from the Horthy era have been added to the national curriculum, and the Constitution has been rewritten to imply that the Horthy government was not responsible for its actions during the final 14 months of World War II, a period during which the vast majority of Hungarian Jews were deported and murdered.

Almost ironically, Viktor Orban is a close friend of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has rarely uttered any criticism of anti-Semitism in Hungary. The two have similar political agendas, are critical of the EU and share an animosity towards Soros."  What is the old story?  The enemy of my enemy is my friend (at least for the time being).  Politicians must practice a lot of pretense with each other.

Budapest, Hungarian born George Soros on August 12, 1930, 91 years old

What about the attacks against billionaire Jewish philanthropist George Soros, I asked. In the 2017 parliamentary election, Orbán promoted anti-Semitic imagery of powerful Jewish financiers scheming to control the world. Thousands of posters of a grinning Soros with the slogan “Let’s not allow Soros to have the last laugh!” were posted around the country on billboards, on the metro, and on the floors of Budapest’s trams. Just this year, a new media campaign featured Soros and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker with the caption: “You also have the right to know what Brussels is preparing for!”

This is sad because such old hat slander.   Such accusations have been going on as long as probably the 1st century CE about Jews and money, and that's because Christianity caused all professions to be taken from Jews except money-lending; banking, etc.  George Soros is not liked by many Jews including myself, though he is a Jew who was in the Holocaust.  His actions since then have been against Israel.  I think his thinking has been damaged by the Holocaust except his knowledge of making money.  I'll let the psychologist figure this person out.  I see that the anti-Semites are taking advantage of these 2 coincidences.  Sad, indeed.

From October 2015, when Orbán personally cast the Hungarian-born American financier and Holocaust survivor, George Soros, as a national hate-figure, accusing him of funding those who “support everything that weakens the nation-state” and “the European human rights activism that encourages the refugees” to reach Europe, the tension acquired a more immediate nature.  For over three years, the Orbán government has been running a political campaign warning of hordes of Muslim immigrants about to descend on Europe. The face of that campaign is an elderly Jewish financier, George Soros, born in Budapest to a non-observant Jewish family, Soros survived the Nazi occupation of Hungary and moved to the United Kingdom in 1947, and the terms used to describe him could have been lifted directly from the “Protocols of the Elders of Zion.”
