Saddam Hussein's Involvement in Having Nuclear Weapons -Deceiving USA

Nadene Goldfoot
Baghdad signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and permitted its facilities to be inspected when they had built the Osirak nuclear complex in Iraq.  The USA, being very gullible, believed them.

Having an enemy neighbor come into nuclear power was a blood-chilling realization for Israel, and by 1981, Israel had received many a warning that they were living in a rough neighborhood. Right from the beginning on May 15, 1948, the day after Israel announced their statehood, the Arab League Secretary-General, Azzam Pasha, announced: " This will be a war of extermination and a momentous massacre which will be spoken of like the Mongolian massacres and the Crusades."

Right up to the time that Iraq was building their nuclear complex, PLO Chairman, Yasir Arafat said on February 11, 1980, "Peace for us means the destruction of Israel.  We are preparing for an all-out war which will last for generations.   Since January 1965, when Fatah was born, we have become the most dangerous enemy that Israel has...We shall not rest until the day when we return to our home, and until we destroy Israel..."  He was born and raised in Egypt.

The Saudis at the Mecca Declaration of the Islamic Conference , the Riyadh Domestic Service  told many times of their plans to destroy Israel.  Right on January 29, 1981,  they declared, "We are determined to wage a jihad by all the means at our disposal in order to liberate our occupied territories..."

It was this very year of 1981 that Israel was convinced that Iraq was approaching the capability to produce a nuclear weapon-which of course would be used on Israel.  Israel decided to launch their surprise  preempt attack to destroy the Osirak nuclear complex.  They did attack it on June 7, 1981.

On June 19, 1981, the UN Security Council was unanimous in condemning Israel's raid-and of course saw no harm in Iraq building a nuclear site whereby they would have atomic weapons.  The critics made no mention of their nuclear program's extent, claiming the signing of the treaty was the guarantee of their peaceful motivations.  After all, the treaty permitted its facilities to be inspected.  Israel was harboring baseless fears.

Then peaceful loving Iraq invaded Kuwait on August 2, 1990. The Invasion of Kuwait, also known as the Iraq–Kuwait War, was a major conflict between Ba'athist Iraq and the Emirate of Kuwait, which resulted in the seven-month-long Iraqi occupation of Kuwait,

It was not until then that the U.S. officials began to acknowledge publicly that Baghdad was developing nuclear weapons and that it was far closer to reaching its goal than previously thought.

President of Iraq, Saddam Hussein (1937-2006)In 2003, a coalition led by the U.S. invaded Iraq to depose Saddam, in which U.S. President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair accused him of possessing weapons of mass destruction and having ties to al-Qaeda.
Many critics argued that the American Administration was only seeking justification for a war with Iraq.   Was the West all picking on poor Iraq?

Months later, after the allied forces had announced the destruction of Iraq's nuclear facilities, the UN inspectors found Saddam's program to develop weapons was FAR MORE EXTENSIVE THAN EVEN THE ISRAELIS BELIEVED. Analysts thought all along that Iraq was incapable of ENRICHING URANIUM FOR BOMBS.  Saddam's people had used several methods, including one thought to be obsolete, that were believed to have made it possible for Iraq to have built AT LEAST ONE BOMB!

That's all they needed.  One atomic bomb dropped on Israel and it would have been curtains.  Because Israel destroyed Iraq's nuclear reactor in 1981, United States troops did not face a nuclear-armed Iraq later.  Israel's cooperation in the Gulf War was extremely valuable.  Israel's military intelligence had focused on Iraq much more carefully over the years than had the U.S. intelligence community.  Israelis were capable of providing Washington with detailed tactical intelligence on Iraqi military activities.  Defense Secretary Richard Cheney said, "the USA utilized Israeli information about western Iraq in its search for Scud missile launchers."

Ahmadinejad was extremely prolific in his threats.
Threats to Israel now come from Iran
Today, we're going through the same thing-35 years later.
Syria's missiles lay in waiting to be dropped on Israel.

In Islam, a country is expected to warn someone before they attack them, and this the Muslim community has done.  Israel has been warned and warned.  That's why they are not naive as to the goals of their neighbors.   Only Egypt and Jordan have signed any peace treaty.

Israel's neighbors, once part of the Ottoman Empire, have refused to accept the League of Nations and the United Nations in accepting Israel as a Jewish state among Muslim states.  Yes, this comes down to religion as much as anything.  Otherwise, why wasn't the Welcome Wagon brought out for Israel on May 14, 1948?

Palestine was a nothing to the surrounding Muslims for all the 1,316 years since Muhammad's death in 632. It was passed by  through all the Caliphates that developed and disappeared.  A land of weeds and swamps, no one settled here, except the returning Jews.  It was the backwater of the Islamic and Christian civilizations, hot and full of mosquitoes and deserts.

It had one thing; a mosque on the Temple Mount built in 738 by Caliph Abd al-Malik to replace the temporary structure set up by Caliph Omar 100 years earlier in 638 after Mohammad's death.  It's called the Mosque of Omar or the Dome of the Rock, there for the past  1, 200 years.   It sits over the site of our Solomon's Temple, originally built by King Solomon, and after it was destroyed, the 2nd Temple when it was rebuilt in 538 BCE after being destroyed in 586 BCE  by Nebuchadnezzar (King of Babylon -today's Iraq-from 605 to 562 BCE).    Our 2nd time Temple had stood for about 600 years when the Romans destroyed it in 70 CE. Altogether, we had had a  Jewish Temple on this site for almost 1,000 years.

Incidentally, Iraq, formerly Babylonia,  became a state in 1921 with King Faisal I, who was a realist about Israel and had been friendly with them.  Iraq became independent from Britain's control in 1932, whereas Israel had to wait until 1948 to declare itself a state.

Now, the whole Middle East awaits what the Shi'a Iran is doing with its nuclear development.  The Sunni nations have just as much to worry about as Israel does, only they know Israel is the 1st and main target of Iran's wrath.  Evidently Kerry, Secretary of State of the USA, isn't worried, compliant in the assurances of Iran's friendly powers.  He thinks he has made the world safer.  However, this  story may be repeating, as history often does, when Israel had to hit Osirik for defensive reasons.  Note that a majority of Americans however – including the country’s top military brass and national security experts and practitioners – oppose Kerry's deal.

Iran has a habit of lying.  "Iran has developed its nuclear program in defiance of its international obligations, conducted nuclear weapon activities in the past, and lied about these activities to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the agency responsible for verifying the deal. There is little to stop this from happening again.

can now reach 1,200 miles

Tehran will continue to cheat in the                      future, severely limiting the United States and               the IAEA’s ability to assess a true state                      of its nuclear program.
             Just like Iraq did?  Perhaps.

i find this very interesting nadene. according to some sketches drawn out that i have seen (and now can't remember where) the dome of the rock was actually built on what was once the court of the gentiles so not on sacred space as supposed. and apparently from those drawings i saw this spot featured in the video lines up perfectly with the eastern gate and is the right distance from it to be the location of the holy of holies. i don't know if this is true or not but i find it very interesting nonetheless because that scared spot has not been covered up by muslims if that is true. in fact that spot is frightening to muslims according to this tour guide speaking at this spot. hmmm......
anyway check it out and see what you think. i think this kicks up some mighty big questions about what is to become of temple mount regarding this place on the mount that is most revered and left untouched for the moment. these are things that make you go hmmmmmm...or me at least ;)
