Wednesday Here-10 Hours Ahead in Israel Watching Hamas Terrorists

 Nadene Goldfoot

                                  Mohammad Abu Obeid:  Hamas leader

Israel is normally 10 hours ahead of Portland, Oregon, though this can shift to 9 or 11 hours depending on the exact dates when daylight saving time changes in each region. Here's what has been going on in Israel while we slept.....

Mohammad Abu Obeid in his "work" clothes:  The combination of a red and white keffiyeh and a green headband is most famously associated with Abu Obeida (also spelled Abu Ubaida), the official military spokesman for the Al-Qassam Brigades, which is the military wing of Hamas.

The IDF and Shin Bet killed Hamas’ Rafah

Brigade commander Nayal Abu Obeid in a

drone strike in southern Gaza last night.

This infers it happened this September 16, 2026.

Commander of Rafah Brigade;  Head of Operations Array-Hamas

Abu Obeid took over the Rafah Brigade in May 2025 after his predecessor, Mohammed Shabana, was killed in Khan Younis alongside Mohammed Sinwar, then head of Hamas’ military wing.

But, my question is, JUST WHO IS ABU OBEIDA?  WHO IS

NAYAL or NAEL ABU OBEIDA or aka  ABU ATIYA THAT WAS

SAID TO BE KILLED?

Supposedly he was assassinated on August 30, 2025.

Now it's said he was killed September 16, 2026.  (last night)

Whoever, Nayal and Mohammad Obeida were are now dead.

On 30 August 2025, Huthayfa Samir Abdallah al-ahlout was

assassinated in an Israeli airstrike at his residence in an

apartment building in Gaza City] The strike, which

hit  the city's Rimal neighborhood, killed at least 11

people, including Abu Obeida and children.

A Palestinian source later told Al Arabiya that

Obeida was killed, along with everyone else in

the building. Israeli Defense Minister Israel

Katz  and the Israel Defense Forces confirmed his death

the following day. On 29 December, Hamas

confirmed Obeida's death, and reaffirmed the

deaths of former Hamas leader Mohammed Sinwar,

former commander of the Rafah Brigade Muhammad

Shabana, senior commander Ra'ad Sa'ad and Hakam

Al-Issa who were also killed by Israel. Hamas'

armed wing, Al-Qassam Brigades, on its Telegram

channel, released a video statement where it said:

“We pause in reverence before … the masked man

loved by millions … the great martyred

commander and spokesperson of the Qassam

Brigades, Abu Obeida.

Al-Qassam Brigades, also known as the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades (EQB; are the military wingof the Sunni Islamist Palestinian nationalist organization, Hamas  Al-Qassam Brigades are the largest and best-equipped militant organization operating within the Gaza Strip in recent years.

The fighters' identities and positions in the group often remain secret until their death. Even when they fight against Israeli incursions, all the militiamen wear a characteristic black hood on which the group's green headband is attached. The Brigades operate on a model of independent cells. Even high-ranking members are often unaware of the activities of other cells. This allows the group to constantly regenerate after member deaths.

At the beginning of the Second Intifada, the group became a central target of Israel. Al-Qassam Brigades operated several cells in the West Bank. Hamas retained a forceful presence in the Gaza Strip, generally considered its stronghold.

The strike comes amid a recent campaign to eliminate Hamas leaders. I would say the impedus to this was October 7, 2023 and the urgency to stop Hamas. This actually quick enough action, but comes from a lot of decision making and thought in keeping the government together as well since there is so much to discuss about it.

The IDF now controls more than 64% of the Gaza Strip, including key entry points and crossings, which has drastically limited Hamas’ ability to smuggle weapons and rebuild its arsenal. But while their military capabilities and leadership have been severely degraded, Hamas still remains armed and is focused on restoring local governance and rebuilding a presence across parts of Gaza.

Israel is reportedly aiding Saudi Arabia with intelligence assistance amid the kingdom's fight against the Houthis, according to diplomatic sources in the region. According to the sources, the assistance is being transferred to Riyadh through the U.S. military’s Central Command (CENTCOM) and does not involve operational support or direct Israeli participation in the fighting.

Saudis have turned to Trump for help.  Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman recently asked President Donald Trump for direct U.S. military strikes against Yemen's Houthi movement, but Trump declined the direct intervention request.

Hamas Leaders, Members They Got In Israeli Attack

Israel wanted Hamas leadership to know that after what they did on October 7, 2023, they will be hunted down and found, no matter how long it takes.  Their action deserves such consequences.

On September 9, 2025, Israel launched an airstrike in Doha, Qatar, targeting several senior Hamas officials, but the top leadership reportedly survived. Hamas reported that at least five of its members were killed in the attack, along with a Qatari security officer.

Primary targets who reportedly possibly survived

  • Khalil al-Hayya: Head of Hamas in Gaza and a senior negotiator who was reportedly meeting with other members of the negotiating team when the strike occurred.

  • Khaled Mashaal: The former head of Hamas and current head of its diaspora office was believed to have been present or in the vicinity of the strike.
  • Zaher Jabarin: The head of Hamas's West Bank operations and its chief financial administrator.

Zaher Al-Jabarin: The Mastermind behind Suicide Attacks on Israeli Targets;  Al-Jabarin: “Hamas has not used all its cards yet, and the West Bank will surprise the occupation soon.” (Rassd, Egypt)

Five members of Hamas were killed in an Israeli strike in Doha, Qatar, on September 9, 2025, during an attempted assassination of senior leaders. While the targeted senior officials survived, the following five men were killed in the attack:

Himam al-Hayya: The son of Hamas leader in Gaza, Khalil al-Hayya.

  • Jihad Labad Abu Bilal: The office director for Khalil al-Hayya.
  • Abdullah Abu Khalil: An "associate," or subordinate, to senior Hamas officials.
  • Muaman Abu Omar: An "associate," or subordinate, to senior Hamas officials.
  • Ahmad Abu Malek: An "associate," or subordinate, to senior Hamas officials.
  • According to Hamas, the five men were part of a delegation in Doha to discuss a ceasefire proposal when the strike occurred. (They had been living in Doha in the luxury hotels with the others hiding out from IDF).
  • Also killed were 3 others:
  • Abdallah Abd al-Wahid: Described as an associate, possibly a bodyguard or adviser.
  • Muamen Hassouna: Described as an associate, possibly a bodyguard or adviser.
  • Qatari delegation killed or injured
    • Killed: Lance Corporal Badr Saad Mohammed al-Humaidi al-Dosari, A Qatari security officer;   of Qatar's internal security forces died while on duty at the targeted site.
    • Injured: A number of other Qatari security personnel were also injured in the attack.
The Israeli Air Force (IAF) relies on a modern fleet of U.S.-made fighter jets, often customized with advanced Israeli-developed technology, for its airstrikes. These aircraft include the F-15I Ra'am, F-16I Sufa, and F-35I Adir.

Letter to Hostages' Parents

Dear Parents of the hostages by Hamas,

I want you to know that I also as a Jewish mother join you in grieving over your children still being held by the Hamas Terrorists.  Our children are our most important persons to us in this world.  To have any tsuris connecting to them is too horrible to imagine.

The haunting images of Israeli hostages being held captive by Hamas are stark reminders of the horrors they have endured for more than 660 days. The immediate release of all hostages from Gaza is my prayer. My deepest thoughts are with all the hostages still held from Canada, USA, and the 23 other countries as well as their families and loved ones.

More than half of the approximately 250 hostages taken by Hamas on October 7, 2023, held foreign passports, representing 25 different countries. You may not have been aware of any dangers since the children themselves thought they were safe.  Some of the countries whose citizens were taken hostage include:  Argentina, China, France, Germany, Nepal, Philippines, Russia, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, United States, and United Kingdom .  Many of the individuals with foreign passports also held Israeli citizenship. Additionally, some of the hostages were foreign workers in Israel, primarily in the agriculture sector.

Here we are at our bon voyage party my mother gave for us

I made Aliyah in 1980 with my husband and German shepherd.  We both were teachers; Danny originally from Brooklyn, New York who met me in Ontario, Oregon, and we married, being the only Jews in that town, really.  Events happened that brought us to making Aliyah and we moved to Haifa going to school for New Olim for 10 months, then onto Tzfat/Safed.  My adult son remained in Portland, Oregon.  We were dedicated religiously and nationally.  We were teachers and Danny with the Master's taught English in high school while I taught English in Jr. High.

Then my son became ill back in Portland and none of the doctors could find out the cause, so his wife wrote to us begging us to return, and with great sadness, we did, because as a mother, I could do no other thing than return.  It was the right thing to do since he became better with a new doctor who used a new technique in fighting bacteria by overdosing with a type of med that remains blurry in my mind, and he became so much better that he was able to finally live his life once more.

There you are in Israel, being the bravest of any people on this planet, many living in Israel amidst all the danger of terrorism surrounding you, and when you should be given a medal for having made such a decision, find your child not only in danger, but having been taken away from you while celebrating a Jewish holiday when  dancing in celebration with friends, being happy and celebrating LIFE, is just too much to even imagine.

You knew of our history, and had either been a Sabra or had also made Aliyah, or whose child was just visiting;   making that same decision I did , but probably  never expecting anything bad to happen.

Here I am in my Safed apartment which is across the street from my junior high.  We have the main floor apartment and can use the mirpeset outside to hang clothes.  It came with bars on the only window of our living room.  The sofa is a bed with a throw on it.  We just moved in as the picture shows.  It's 1981.  In Israel, a "mirpeset" (pronounced meer-peset) is a Hebrew term for a balcony or veranda. These spaces are commonly used for a variety of purposes, including, as I  mentioned, hanging clothes to dry.

With us, we had been shaken up with anti-Semitism happening in our little town of Ontario with Skinheads moving in from Boise, Idaho, known to be anti-Semitic and reserving a room for meetings in my husband's favorite restaurant where his Kiwanis group met every week.  They had called him asking what to do !  That and a comic book of anti-Semitism was circulating in his high school and brought to his history class.  The next thing I did was fly back to Portland to speak with the Shaliach there who made our plans for us to leave for Israel, a permanent move.  I was leaving my mother and large family.  We had never visited Israel but wanted to get there, especially when we found out that they needed real English teachers.

To have your loved one, your family caught in this several years of planning by terrorists, attacking the very families they may even have worked for, knew, and then kidnapping them as hostages is incomprehensible.  Our good fortune of living in Israel from 1980 to the very end of 1985 was that at the time, unknown to us, Iran was at war with Iraq, and it kept them away from Israel.  I never dreamed that this could happen in 2023, 43 years later.

May G-d give you the courage and strength to live through this.  We're all praying for a miracle to happen, and that all IDF searching for them will stay safe as well.

All the best,

Nadene Goldfoot

Arab Nations Urge Hamas to Stop Fighting While France and England Decide To Back Hamas

 Nadene Goldfoot

File photo - New photo of Jordan Royal Family, from L : Prince Hashem (12), Princess Iman (20), King Abdullah II, Queen Rania, Princess Salma (16) and Crown Prince Hussein (22), posing at Royal Palace, in Aman, Jordan

Looks to me like the Arabs have more sense than Europeans.

  • Arab and Muslim countries: For the first time, countries like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, and Turkey joined a declaration condemning the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks and demanding the group disarm and end its rule in Gaza, according to The Times of Israel.
  • If Israel decides, G-d forbid, to appease Hamas, the rest of the world will also be forced to do so in any other conditions they face for the world will know that all you have to do is act like Russia; enter someone's land and fight to the last man, but you are guaranteed to get your way.  Brute force wins.

They never have taken in Palestinians but urged them to live in refugee camps.  They have continued with this refugee status since 1948.  The UN has kept them as such by aiding and abetting them to prefer this position over leaving.  They also helped them during Oct 7, 2023 as well in their 3 year of plotting to attack Israel, confessed some questioned.

Israel has always had to be a defender of their tiny state which has gone from the promise of the Palestinian Homeland by the League of Nations and the UN, to quickly becoming 1/10th of that size.  Our soldiers are the Israel Defense Force, defending their people from other's never-ending attacks.

I just heard England say they expect Israel to stop attacking Hamas in this war, and that is crazy.  It's Hamas who has refused to do so, and they of course started it on October 7, 2023.  Is England's short-term memory that bad?  They must be ready for assisted living. France's reputation of giving into power is well understood;  not surprised with them at all. They have no back-bone.  But England!

Remember, In an attempt to appease Nazi Germany, England, under Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, initially yielded to Adolf Hitler's demands, most notably by signing the Munich Agreement in 1938, allowing Germany to annex the Sudetenland region of Czechoslovakia. However, this policy of appeasement was ultimately unsuccessful in preventing World War II, and Winston Churchill, a strong critic of appeasement, eventually replaced Chamberlain as Prime Minister. Churchill then led Britain through the war, advocating for a more confrontational stance against the Axis powers.  Churchill is no doubt turning over in his grave  with England's appeasing Hamas, when even the Arab countries see that doing so would be wrong.

Numerous Palestinian refugees live in Arab countries, with UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) reporting 5.9 million registered Palestine refugees eligible for their services in its areas of operation: Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the Gaza Strip, and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. However, their legal status and treatment can vary significantly between countries.
What we can take from this is that England would have rather followed  Chamberlain, which France did, and not lose so many of its population.  Go Appeasers!    In England, during World War II, approximately 450,700 people died, including both military and civilian deaths according to The National WWII Museum | New Orleans. This figure includes about 383,600 military deaths and 67,100 civilian deaths, according to UK Parliament. Many civilian deaths were a result of German bombing raids during the Blitz.
"Black September" refers to a military conflict in 1970 between Jordan and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). It is also the name of a Palestinian militant organization that emerged from the conflict. The conflict resulted in the expulsion of the PLO from Jordan and its subsequent relocation to Lebanon.

King Abdullah II of Jordan is married to Queen Rania, who is of Palestinian descent. Her family is originally from Tulkarm and Nablus in Palestine, but she was born and raised in Kuwait. They married in 1993.  Until this happened, Jordan was defending itself.  Black September, also known as the Jordanian Civil War, was an armed conflict between Jordan, led by King Hussein, and the Palestine Liberation Organization, led by chairman Yasser Arafat.
Some Arab countries, notably Jordan, have granted citizenship to a large number of Palestinian refugees. But in others, particularly Lebanon, Human Rights Watch reports that governments have actively resisted the permanent settlement and naturalization of Palestinians, citing concerns about altering the demographic balance or national identity.
These governments often express support for the Palestinian "right of return" to their original homeland, but their policies can be interpreted by some as aiming to prevent permanent integration in the host countries. Palestinians in these countries often face significant obstacles in obtaining citizenship, residency rights, property ownership, and access to the formal job market and social services, leading to precarious living conditions and limited opportunities.
Additionally, some Arab states have had complex and sometimes volatile relationships with Palestinian political movements, leading to periods of conflict and contributing to restrictions on Palestinian refugees.
