Republican Lawyers Working For or Against Trump Are Becoming Very Trying

Nadene Goldfoot
These names are bandied about all the time on TV news.  Who are they, really?
Rod Jay Rosenstein  (b: January 13, 1965) is an American attorney serving as United States Deputy Attorney General since 2017. Prior to his current appointment, he served as a United States Attorney for the District of Maryland. President Donald Trump nominated Rosenstein to serve as Deputy Attorney General for the United States Department of Justice on February 1, 2017. He is a Republican.  . In May 2017, he authored a memo which President Trump said was the basis of his decision to dismiss FBI Director James Comey.  Later that month, Rosenstein appointed special counsel Robert Mueller to investigate alleged ties between the Trump campaign and Russia during the 2016 election and related matters based on the dismissal of Comey.

In April 2018, Rosenstein reportedly personally approved the FBI raid on President Donald Trump's attorney, Michael Cohen, in which the FBI seized emails, tax documents and records, some of them related to Cohen's payment to adult-film star Stormy Daniels.  Rosenstein lives in Bethesda, Maryland, where Judge Kavenaugh was also raised.  Rosenstein's father was  Robert Rosenstein, who ran a small business, and Gerri Rosenstein, a bookkeeper and school board president. He grew up in Lower Moreland Township, Pennsylvania and today attends a Reform Synagogue.

Rosenstein graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, with a Bachelor of Science in economics, summa cum laude, in 1986. This sounds like Trump's education.  " After two years, Donald Trump" transferred to the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. While at Wharton, he worked at the family business, Elizabeth Trump & Son. He graduated in May 1968 with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics.
He earned his Juris Doctorcum laude, in 1989 from Harvard Law School, where Rosenstein  was an editor of the Harvard Law Review. He then served as a law clerk to Judge Douglas H. Ginsburg of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.  He was a Wasserstein Fellow at Harvard Law School in 1997–98.  No doubt, Rosenstein impresses me as having been an outstanding student.  No wonder Trump selected him; so much in common in their education, and both being Republicans.  " "In 1995, Rosenstein joined the team of lawyers investigating the Whitewater scandal, which involved allegations of illegal real estate dealings by the Clintons."  Seems as if people with money dabbling in real-estate can get in a lot of trouble.
Today's bomb about Rosenstein is that CNN said he suggested to secretly record Trump in the Spring of 2017.  Rosenstein was offended when he heard this false report.  He said that this had been a joke. However, the report went on to ask him if he was serious and he said he was being serious.   Supposedly the taping was to out the chaos they felt was going on in the White House.  Which reminds me;  An Englishman could walk into an Italian home and see chaos; and an Italian walking into an Englishman's dinner would be bored to death.  It all depends on your upbringing as to what chaos is.  Perhaps Trump isn't suffering from paranoia, in that people were trying to get rid of him.  "
“The New York Times’s story is inaccurate and factually incorrect,” he told Fox News. “I will not further comment on a story based on anonymous sources who are obviously biased against the department and are advancing their own personal agenda. But let me clear about this: Based on my personal dealings with the president, there is no basis to invoke the 25th Amendment.”

"In the articles of impeachment filed in July, the group of 11 House Republicans accused Rosenstein of intentionally withholding documents and information from Congress, failure to comply with congressional subpoenas and abuse of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA)."  Rosenstein is said to have attempted to intimidate House staffers with subpoenas.

Rosenstein was confirmed by the Senate as deputy attorney general in April 2017.
Rosenstein appointed Mueller as the special counsel to oversee the investigation into Russian influence in the 2016  election in May 2017.

Robert Swan Mueller III (b:  August 7, 1944) is an American attorney who served as the sixth Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation from 2001 to 2013.   In May 2017, Mueller was appointed by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein as special counsel overseeing an ongoing investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election and related matters.   He is still on this position, over 2 years of investigation.  A Republican, appointed by George W. Bush.  A Marine during Vietnam.  Graduate of Princeton U.,

His paternal great-grandfather, Gustave A. Mueller, was a prominent doctor in Pittsburgh, whose own father August C. E. Müller had immigrated to the United States in 1855 from the Province of Pomerania in the Kingdom of Prussia (a historical state whose territory included land now part of Germany and western Poland).

The situation at the moment is that Mueller and Rosenstein have declared "Legal War" on Trump.  They have caused Trump's lawyer, Michael Cohen, to have his office raided in trying to find damning evidence on him.  "Cohen was never part of the Trump administration or the Trump campaign. This is now officially an all hands on deck effort to totally malign and, if possible, impeach the president of the United States. Mueller and Rosenstein have declared what is a legal war on the president. And a source close to President Trump tonight is telling Fox News that Mueller's investigation is way out of control.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller is spearheading the Russia probe (that seems to have no end) , but Rosenstein, 53, still oversees the federal investigation as deputy attorney general.

Michael Dean Cohen (b: August 25, 1966)  is an American attorney who worked as a lawyer for Donald Trump from 2006 until the termination of his employment in May 2018, a month after a federal investigation began. He's also a Republican, formerly a Democrat like Trump had been.   The investigation led to him pleading guilty on August 21, 2018, to eight counts of campaign finance violations, tax fraud, and bank fraud. In his statement before the court, Cohen said he violated campaign finance laws "in coordination with and at the direction of a candidate for federal office," meaning Trump, "for the principal purpose of influencing the election" for president in 2016.

His mother was a nurse, and his father, who survived the Holocaust, was a surgeon. Cohen is Jewish Cohen has been involved in real estate ventures in Manhattan, including buying and selling four apartment buildings between 2011 and 2014. The total purchase price of the four buildings was $11 million and the total sales price was $32 million. Cohen sold the four properties at above their assessed values, in all-cash transactions, to LLCs owned by persons whose identities are not public. After this was reported by McClatchy DC in October 2017, Cohen said that all four properties were purchased by an American-owned "New York real estate family fund" that paid cash for the properties in order to obtain a tax deferred (Section 1031) exchange, but did not specifically identify the buyer.

Real estate would be a subject That connected Cohen to Trump, also a real-
estate person.  It seems Hillary and Bill Clinton were, too.

"In June 2018, Cohen resigned as deputy finance chairman of the Republican National Committee. His resignation letter cited the ongoing investigations and also criticized the Trump administration's policy of separating undocumented families at the border." Have you ever heard a captive of an enemy have to make a confession  which glorifies the enemy?  This sounds surprisingly just like that !

Andrew George McCabe (b: March 18, 1968) is an American attorney who served as the Deputy Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation from February 2016 to January 2018. From May 9, 2017 to August 2, 2017, McCabe served as the Acting Director of the FBI following James Comey's dismissal by President Donald Trump. FBI Director Comey  had appointed McCabe as Deputy Director of the FBI on January 29, 2016, and he assumed those duties on February 1, 2016

"On January 29, 2018, McCabe announced that he was stepping down from his position as Deputy Director of the FBI and went on paid leave.  By March 16, 2018, Sessions fired McCabe 26 hours before his scheduled retirement.  Sessions announced that he based his decision on reports from the DOJ Inspector General and the FBI's disciplinary office saying that McCabe had made unauthorized releases of information to the media and had "lacked candor" in talking about it. McCabe denied that he had ever been dishonest and charged that his firing was politically motivated.
On April 19, 2018, media reported the US Department of Justice Inspector General had earlier sent a criminal referral to federal prosecutors for possible criminal charges against McCabe associated with allegations of lying to internal investigators."

The Nunes memo, which alleges improper activities in seeking a warrant to surveil former Trump associate Carter Page, asserts that McCabe "testified before the [House Intelligence] Committee in December 2017 that no surveillance warrant would have been sought from the FISC without the Steele dossier," a document many Trump supporters insist is completely false.
However, McCabe's testimony was in classified session and no public transcript is available to confirm the Nunes memo assertion; disclosing contents of the classified testimony would be unlawful. Democratic Representative Eric Swalwell, a member of the House Intelligence Committee, said the Nunes memo "seriously mischaracterizes the testimony of Deputy Director Andrew McCabe."The Nunes memo also asserts that a text message from Peter Strzok discusses "a meeting with Deputy Director McCabe to discuss an "insurance" policy against President Trump's election." However, The Wall Street Journal reported on December 18, 2017, that Strzok associates said the "insurance policy" meant the FBI continuing its investigation into possible collusion between Trump and Russians, in case Trump won the election.
During law school he interned in the criminal division of the United States Department of Justice. Because of a hiring freeze, McCabe spent three years in a private law practice before joining the FBI in 1996 in Philadelphia. He's another Pennsylvanian, joining Trump and Rosenstein in having lived in this state.
McCabe is a triathlete who biked 35 miles (56 km) to work from his home in Virginia.
TV just announced that this man's goal has been to bring Trump down.

Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III (b: December 24, 1946) is an American politician and lawyer serving as the 84th and current Attorney General of the United States since 2017, formerly an Alabaman Senator. A Republican, Sessions served as United States Senator from Alabama from 1997 to 2017, resigning the position in order to serve in the Trump administration.  I've heard Trump on TV who has said that he doesn't have an Attorney General, then take it back and say he does have one.  The point is, Jeff hasn't done much for him when he's needed it.  Sessions was an early supporter of the presidential candidacy of Donald Trump, and was a major policy adviser to the Trump campaign, especially in regard to immigration and national security.  He was also on the short list to become Trump's running mate, a position that ultimately went to Mike Pence.
On March 10, 2017, Sessions oversaw the firing of 46 United States Attorneys, leaving only his acting Deputy Dana Boente and nominated Deputy Rod Rosenstein in place after Trump declined their resignations.  On May 9, 2017, Sessions delivered a memo to the President recommending Trump fire
FBI Director James Comey, attaching a memo by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein which called the Director's behavior indefensible. Trump fired Comey that day.
In 1964, Sessions became an Eagle Scout, and later, he earned the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award for his many years of service.  A true Alabaman, his parents were  Jefferson Beauregard Sessions, Jr., and the former Abbie Powe.   He was named after his father, who was named after his grandfather, who was named after Jefferson Davis, the president of the Confederate States of America,
