Two embassy staff members were shot and killed in front of the Jewish Museum door in Washington DC by an outraged American surnamed Rodriquez. An American Jewish group had been hosting an evening event.
My question is, were they accompanied by any Washington DC police in this job? Were they trained in knowing what to do when outside the door guarding it? Were they armed? The answer most likely is, "no."
• The man and woman killed, identified as Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, were a “young couple about to be engaged,” according to Israel’s ambassador to the US. Lischinsky, 30, was a research assistant in the political department at the embassy, while Milgrim, 26, organized trips to Israel, according to the Israeli foreign ministry.
Elias Rodriquez, age 30 from Chicago, had yelled, "Free, free Palestine,"while in custody!!! This tells all that he knows nothing of the situation in Gaza. His knowledge is made up of gossip, not facts. He's been brain-washed. It also tells me that children born in 2005 in the Chicago area have been educated to hate Jews and Israel. Much stems from the anti-Israel rhetoric we hear from world leaders right now like Canada, England and France. Later, after Rodriguez was arrested and accused of killing the couple, he repeated the chant while in custody, Smith said.
Rodriguez lives in Chicago, where he works for the American Osteopathic Information Association. Teresa A. Hubka, president of the American Osteopathic Association, and Kathleen S. Creason released this statement Thursday morning: According to his LinkedIn profile, Rodriguez began working at AOIA in July 2024.
Before that, according to the experience section, he lists being an oral history researcher for The HistoryMakers, a nonprofit dedicated to making a digital archive of Black history. In an author biography on The HistoryMakers' website, it says Rodriquez attended the University of Illinois at Chicago and earned a bachelor of arts degree in English.
Some accounts online posted that Rodriguez was a part of the Party of Socialism and Liberation, ending; his connection in 2017. The PSL said that though he may have been affiliated years ago, he is not anymore, in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
This anti-Semitic killing happened at the Capital Jewish Museum. The executive director of the Lillian and Albert Small Capital Jewish Museum said they are “heartbroken” by the murders of two Israeli embassy staffers last night. “We are heartbroken by the murders of Yaron (Lischinsky) and Sarah Milgrim, and send our sincere condolences to their families and friends. May they, and all who grieve this devastating loss, be comforted by their communities,” Dr. Beatrice Gurwitz said.
