2019 to 2023 Anti-Semitism Acts and October 7th to 2025

2019
                                           Jewish Faces

2017--2019

                                       Belgium's Fundamental Divide of land-
Belgium  outlawed Shechita (Kosher Killing by a proper butcher).
The country is divided into three highly autonomous
regions: the Flemish Region (Flanders) in the north, the Walloon Region (Wallonia) in the south, and the Brussels-Capital Region in the middle.
2019   Flanders and Wallonia,  Belgium ;  In 2017, the parliaments of the Flanders and Wallonia regions in Belgium adopted legislation that as of 2019 would outlaw any slaughter that was not preceded by stunning, citing animal rights as the justification for the new laws respectively.; Neither law allows any exemption for religious minorities to carry out slaughter in accordance with their practices—this is despite the relevant European Union regulation 1109/2012 which allows for Member States to include a derogation in order to protect religious freedoms. The ban in Flanders came into effect on 1 January 2019. At least one kosher meat producer has relocated to Hungary to continue operations. The ban in Wallonia came into effect on 1 June 2018, however, an exemption for slaughter for religious purposes will continue until 1 September 2019.Yes, it's true that a ban on kosher slaughter (Shechita) came into effect in the Flanders region of Belgium in 2019. In January 2019, a law was passed requiring the stunning of livestock for animal welfare reasons, and this includes Shechita (as well as halal slaughter). The French-speaking Wallonia region followed suit in 2018, also prohibiting animal slaughter without prior stunning. Kosher slaughter, also known as "Shechita," is a specific method of animal slaughter required by Jewish law for meat to be considered kosher. It involves a trained shochet (slaughterer) making a swift, deep cut across the animal's throat with a sharp knife, severing the carotid arteries and windpipe. The animal must be fully conscious and healthy before the cut, and the procedure is designed to cause immediate unconsciousness and blood loss. Citing animal welfare concerns, the Dutch-speaking region of Flanders in 2017 outlawed the killing of animals without prior stunning, as practised by observant Muslims and Jews who eat halal or kosher meat.

She later apologized for the tweet in a statement.  One of the two first Muslim women to serve in Congress has apologized for comments on social media widely condemned as anti-Semitic. Rep. Polish anti-Semites in France...also full of anti-Semites

  • Terrorist Act: The attack was widely condemned as an act of terrorism and a stark example of rising anti-Semitism and far-right extremism in Germany.
  • Increased Security: In the wake of the attack, security measures at synagogues and other Jewish institutions in Germany were increased.
  • Public Outcry: The attack prompted widespread condemnation and expressions of solidarity with the Jewish community in Germany and around the world.
The Halle synagogue attack serves as a reminder of the persistent threat of anti-Semitism and far-right extremism and the importance of confronting these ideologies.

2019-Britain
A Church of England report was published called "God's Unfailing World: Theological and practical perspectives on Christian-Jewish relations", that encouraged Christians to be repentant for "sins of the past" against Jews, and to challenge current stereotypes and attitudes against them. The report was the first time the Church of England made an authoritative statement about antisemitism.England readmitted Jews in 1656, nearly 365 years after they were expelled by King Edward I in 1290. This readmission occurred during the Protectorate under Oliver Cromwell, who allowed for their resettlement.  It's been 363 years of anti-Semitism in Britain since being allowed to live there again after being kicked out for 365 years!!!!

Terrell-Paige assumed office in 2019. Terrell-Paige left office on January 5, 2022.Terrell-Paige ran for election for an at-large seat of the Jersey City Public Schools Board of Education in New Jersey. I believe they knew they would come out in body bags,” Terrell-Paige said of the shooters. “What is the message they were sending? Are we brave enough to explore the answer to their message,” she said.

2019-December 10-Washington DC
The Executive Order on Combating Anti-Semitism is an executive order announced by U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday, 10 December 2019, and signed the next day. The White House initially indicated that the order would define Judaism as a nationality instead of a religion in the United States, though the order ultimately released was more modest in its reach. The purpose of the order is claimed to be to prevent antisemitism by making it easier to use laws prohibiting institutional discrimination against people based on national origin to punish discrimination against Jewish peopleincluding opposition to policies undertaken by the government of Israel. Some American Jews applauded the order, while others objected to defining Judaism as a nationality (as the order was initially indicated to do, though it ultimately did not), claiming that "Trump's reclassification of Judaism mirrored sentiments used by white nationalists and Nazi Germany" and that "the move appears to question whether Jews are really American". Some decried the order as a political stunt, and called on Trump to more directly address the threat of white nationalism.

Roald Dahl's family published a statement on the official Roald Dahl website apologising for his antisemitism. The statement, which is not prominent on the site, says "The Dahl family and the Roald Dahl Story Company deeply apologise for the lasting and understandable hurt caused by some of Roald Dahl's statements. Those prejudiced remarks are incomprehensible to us and stand in marked contrast to the man we knew ... We hope that, just as he did at his best, at his absolute worst, Roald Dahl can help remind us of the lasting impact of words."The apology comes three decades after the British author's death in 1990. Over his nearly 50-year career, Dahl wrote such classic children's books as Matilda, James and the Giant Peach, and The BFG.

He also made some anti-Semitic comments. In one example, in 1983 Dahl reportedly told Britain's New Statesman magazine that "there is a trait in the Jewish character that does provoke animosity. ... Even a stinker like Hitler didn't just pick on them for no reason." "For his family and estate to have waited thirty years to make an apology, apparently until lucrative deals were signed with Hollywood, is disappointing and sadly rather more comprehensible," the Campaign Against Antisemitism said in a statement. (Netflix reportedly paid The Roald Dahl Story Company at least $1 billion in 2018 for the rights to 16 of the author's works.)

Can you believe this thinking?  Oy vey!

A Northwest Portland synagogue fire that police said was set intentionally was probably not an act of antisemitism, the synagogue’s senior rabbi said Thursday. (If there is a fire within a synagogue, it's definitely set on purpose!!!)

Firefighters arrived at Congregation Beth Israel about 9:10 p.m., Wednesday, to find a fire against the synagogue’s side door, Portland police and Rabbi Michael Cahana said. After putting out the flames, firefighters ceded the scene to investigators, who concluded that the fire was likely set on purpose.

The neo-Naziantisemitic hate group and conspiracy theory network Goyim Defense League ( using Yiddish word "Goyim" meaning "Gentile" ) begins distributing flyers accusing Jews of being behind the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Goyim Defense League (GDL) is an antisemitic hate group that engages in the harassment of individuals and groups. They are known for their public displays of antisemitism, the distribution of propaganda, and online harassment. The GDL has been led by Neo-Nazi agitator Jon Minadeo II since its founding in 2018. On the internet, the GDL is active on social media, operating a television called the GoyimTV. In real life, the GDL regularly harasses American Jews by holding violent marches and dropping antisemitic flyers over Jewish neighborhoods. The GDL supports the HamasHouthisHezbollah and Iranian theocracy. The GDL celebrated the October 7 massacre in 2023 and attended pro-Palestinian events to recruit new followers and adopt anti-Zionist rhetoric to expand their influence.   While some critics expressed confusion over this, often due to the popular perception that Neo-Nazis are anti-Muslim, it is not a historical anomaly. Collaboration between Nazis and Islamists happened during the Holocaust and in post-war America, despite the relative lack of coverage in history textbooks.

On October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorists waged the deadliest attack on Jews since the Holocaust — slaughtering babies, committing sexual violence, burning whole families alive, and taking 240 civilians hostage. Hamas murdered more than 1,200 Israelis during the attack. Over a year later, Hamas is still holding over 50 men and women — including five Americans — captive in the terror tunnels in Gaza.

Israel continues to fight for its survival, battling a seven front war against the Iranian regime and its terror proxies Hezbollah, Houthis, and Hamas, and more.

Continued post-Oct. 7 spike; 84 percent increase in incidents on campus; 21 percent increase in physical assaults.  New York, NY, April 22, 2025 …The massive spike in antisemitic incidents following the Oct. 7 massacre in Israel continued in 2024, with totals again exceeding any other annual tally in the past 46 years. This is the fourth year in a row that antisemitic incidents increased and broke the previous all-time high. It is also the first time that incidents containing elements related to Israel or Zionism made up a majority of all incidents (58 percent of the total).

There were 9,354 incidents of antisemitic assault, harassment and vandalism across the country in 2024, according to ADL’s (the Anti-Defamation League) annual Audit of Antisemitic Incidents, released today. This total represents a 5 percent increase from 2023 (already a record-setting year), a 344 percent increase over the past five years, an 893 percent increase over the past 10 years and is the highest level recorded since ADL started tracking this data in 1979. The 12-month total for 2024 averaged more than 25 targeted anti-Jewish incidents in the U.S. per day, more than one an hour.

On January 15, 2025, the United States, Egypt, and Qatar announced that they had mediated a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas to end fifteen months of fighting in Gaza.
