An Honest Evaluation of Trump's Speech

 Nadene Goldfoot

Democrat Congressman Al Green, born in 1947, age 78, US Representative,  was in the audience.  He with his cane made a scene by yelling something unpleasant to Trump in the beginning and had to be escorted out.  A few of his followers left with him. Alexander N. Green is an American lawyer and politician serving as the U.S. representative from Texas's 9th congressional district. He has served in Congress since 2005. A member of the Democratic Party, Green served as the justice of the peace of Harris County, Texas from 1977 to 2004.  [Trump's speech just upset him terribly!]

First thing I notice was CNN's awareness of the packed audience up to the rafters with a population of more exuberant Republicans than were were dour Democrats, so they opened with "Trump touts a Historic change,"  and I thought it should be Trump touts his imaginative Historic change, for he gets his history all wrong in order to fit his own needs.  CNN wasn't taking any chances.

I grabbed a used paper near me and my pen  and thought oh boy, this is not going to be like Justin Trudeau's calm speech and started taking notes, phrases all over my paper.  Afterwards I saw that all the commentators had tons of notes to talk about, but a little different than mine, so I thought I'd go ahead and share.  Was it AI that wrote them all down?

Trump warned at one time in the 2 hours of the speech that, "We are just getting started!" That is fearful.  Look what's happening to Europe's reaction at this point after Ukraine was belittled and dismissed by Trump, Ukraine's "friend."    I don't even think Zelensky got that lunch that was promised.   Throughout the speech, Trump slammed Biden blaming him for everything except the weather.  It makes me shiver as that's what Muslims have been doing forever, blaming Jews--and even for their weather!

Trump takes credit for everything by sharing, "There's never been anything like it!" when talking about something he takes credit for.  He did let the spotlight hit the Gallery where Elon Musk sat, then taking his bows.  That's his advisor.  And there's his other phrase, "Nobody's ever seen anything like it!

Trump told the farmers, "I love you, too!"     That sounded a little persnickety.  I didn't catch that joke, not knowing enough about how the farmers will be helped or hindered by his moves.  According to the accolades from the Republicans, all he has done is fantastic!!! What clapping.  Every minute they must have felt they had to stand and clap and clap and clap.  According to Trump, he's responsible for the GREAT LIBERATION OF AMERICA;  oh yes, changing the name of the mountain to Mt. McKinley, a president he likes, and changing the Gulf of Mexico "back" to the Gulf of America.

The purpose of his speech after only 6 weeks of work?  "U.S. President Donald Trump arrives for his speech to a joint session of Congress as Rep. Melanie Stansbury (D-NM) holds a sign reading "This is not normal" at the U.S. Capitol on March 4, 2025 in Washington, DC. President Trump was expected to address Congress on his early achievements of his presidency and his upcoming legislative agenda."  Trump couldn't wait to brag;  so proud of his achievements while many of us, less than half the Congress were plotzing.

Then he listed a zillion things he has already done since January 20th--that Elon found people of ages far older than 100 on the social security lists, ages up to Methusala's age, just about, collecting checks.  Hmmm.  I just did a study on 90 year olds in Portland and found online that:

Moses during his 40 year Exodus from Egypt crossing the sea

  • According to Census Reporter, 3% of the population in the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area is 80 and older.   So I take it that it decreases for us 90 year olds to 2%, but actually as shown below to be only  1.49%.  I take it that not many 90 year olds are in Portland.
  • From the looks of my Assisted Living quarters in Brookdale Oswego Springs, all the elderly men in Portland must be here.  We've got a few new ones lately.
  • World Population Review estimates that 90,316 people in Portland are seniors.
  • In 2024, Portland, Oregon's population was estimated to be just over 639,000This was a slight increase from 2023, and the first increase in several years. However, the population was still below 2020's total of 652,000.
  • The median age in Portland, OR is 38.6, as per 2019-2023 ACS 5 -Year Estimates. Of the total population,
  • 52.65% aged 30 to 64,
  • 1.49% were 85 years of age and older.
  • Moses only lived till 120.  We always wish that our friends live to that age on their birthday, but certainly am shocked to here something like the last report I had was to 114, a holocaust surviving female, and wonder how she ever has done it!   Shame on social security not checking on this earlier--Democrats!  That's the only thing I've found that made me arch my eyebrows.  CNN gave his speech modestly positive marks, and changes few minds.
