The terrorists from Iran's sponsorship, Islamic Jihad (PIJ), come out of Judea-Samaria and Gaza. Their center is in Jenin. Syria is also a sponsor of this group. Their ideology is of radical Islamism and nationalism. This means they are committed to the creation of an Islamic Palestinian state and the destruction of Israel through a holy war, as they understand holy. They oppose pro-western and Arab governments according to a BBC report.
Their operations have been that of shootings, bombings, rocket attacks and suicide bombings. They committed 1,000 terrorist attacks from 2000 -2004. 950 Israelis have been wounded,, and 150 killed. They committed 39 suicide bombings from 2000-2005.
They haven't stopped. "The latest deadly escalation in Gaza was sparked by Israel's arrest earlier this week in the West Bank of Bassem al-Saadi, a key Islamic Jihad member Israel blamed for orchestrating a spate of attacks". Islamic Jihad militants in Gaza were planning to retaliate by attacking southern Israel and Shin Bet found out about it.
Shin Bet found out that there was a West Bank terror cell doing the planning and busted them. " Security agency says 40-year-old mother of 4 from Jenin area was in contact with members of Islamic Jihad in Gaza, passed instructions to local cell members".
Rocket fire and Israeli strikes continued last night. Israelis had to rush to bomb shelters.
They had been along the Gaza border threatening, causing Israel to launch a pre-emptive counter-terror operation against their immediate threat. The last few days have been very tense. Israel closed the border crossings, and Gaza ran out of fuel as their power station came to a halt.
Yesterday, Israel attacked Gaza and killed Taysir al-Jabari who was in a building west of Gaza City. The Islamic Jihad took this as a declaration of war and shot 100 rockets towards Israel. In Judea-Samaria, Israelis held an early morning raid and arrested 20 of which 19 were islamic Jihad members Israel's Shin Bet internal security agency had been at several location to find them.
A Jenin battle occurred in 2002. PIJ's hub was in Jenin which is in Samaria, formerly northern Israel which was attacked by the Assyrians in 721 BCE and had their population taken away. It is the Palestinian terrorist suicide capital. In fact, 59 suicide bombers were foiled and arrested in 2005. Jenin was a center of Arab nationalist fanaticism in the 1930's. it was part of Jordan from 1948 to 1967 when Israel won the Six Day War waged against them by all the surrounding countries. The population of Jenin in 1967 was 8,346 apart from 5,,019 Arab refugees in the vicinity. Jenin was mentioned in the bible as En Gannim in Josh.19:21 of Roman days.

Top IDF official: ‘We eliminated all Islamic Jihad leaders in Gaza’
Gaza war expected to continue for another few days, IDF official says. ‘We will not stop until the Islamic Jihad terror gang stops threatening us, and we will complete the task.’
Major-General Oded Basiuk, head of the IDF’s Operations Department, on Saturday evening explained why Israel began Operation Breaking Dawn in Gaza.
Speaking to reporters, Basiuk said, “The IDF and security forces for the past two days have begun a focused operation against the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ). The terrorists tried to carry out mass murder against Israeli civilians in the south and center of Israel and in the Gaza border area.
“In light of this and in the past few days we closed some of the roads in Israel near the Gaza border, and we appreciate the understanding now that everyone realizes what we had to do. We gathered intelligence, we clarified it, we took the initiative and two days ago, within a few minutes, we hit and eliminated the chain of operations of this Islamic Jihad terror attack and their head, Khaled Mansour, commander of the northern region of the PIJ’s terror squad.
“This is an important elimination, and I can tell you that in the past few hours we carried out an additional elimination of the southern region leader of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. It’s a very important elimination according to all the data I have at this moment. He was eliminated together with others. All of the top leaders of the PIJ in the Gaza Strip have been eliminated.”
Basiuk stressed, “In the past few hours, we were able to see another very important phenomenon, that it is important to know. The Palestinian Islamic Jihad, in the past few hours, has fired hundreds of rockets towards Israel, towards the southern cities, and a not-insignificant portion of them fall within the Gaza Strip, and kill citizens of Gaza itself. The Arab propaganda machine then falsely accuses Israel, and we know that the international media shamefully parrots these Palestinian lies. The world should be shocked at the cruel and inhumane exploitation by both Hamas and Islamic Jihad of their own people.
“We could see in the past few hours, around 9pm, an Islamic Jihad rocket which hit a Gaza home in Jabalia with Palestinian victims.
“This organization does not just endanger the lives of Israelis – and that we will not allow – it also hurts Palestinians,” he emphasized.
“We are in a focused operation. This operation will continue and I ask all citizens of the country to follow instructions, and to understand that these instructions are lifesaving. We will continue and act against PIJ in any place we need to, for however long we need to, and not allow it to threaten us.
“In addition, I will say this: We are acting both in Gaza, and in Judea and Samaria, and maybe in other places as well. We will not stop until the PIJ stops threatening us, and we will complete the tasks.”
Concluding his remarks, Basiuk added, “I thank everyone, the civilians, for their patience. Patience is important, and it could be that there will be additional days of Palestinian Arab aggression. Not everything goes smoothly in these operations. Until now the results have been good, and we are obligated to continue.”
Update: August 22, 2022: Shin Bet Director Ronen Bar traveled to Egypt on Sunday after Egypt accused Israel of not following the terms of the truce mediated by Egypt between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), which Egypt claims included Israel refraining from military activity against the PIJ in the West Bank. Israel has continued to carry out raids against PIJ members in the West Bank.
