Aleppo, Syria, Land Once filled With Jews

 Nadene Goldfoot

Alhalabi and Halabi; they are simply different ways of transliterating the same Arabic surname. Both indicate that a person or their ancestors originate from the city of Aleppo (known in Arabic as Halab) in Syria.  This is the surname of my friend, Omran,   I met him online before 2014.  I am Jewish.  Omran was raised by a stepmother.  Both parents were Muslims being he was born in Damascus, Syria. Aleppo was said to be the hub of Jewish business.

Right now, Aleppo has been suffering with the presence of Terrorists.   Aleppo has a significant terrorist presence. The city and its surrounding region remain a volatile battleground involving multiple organizations designated as terrorist groups, including Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), the PKK/YPG, and splinter factions of the Islamic State (ISIS), all of which have recently been involved in armed clashes, shelling, and suicide bombings.

Abu Muhammad al-Jolani, leader of the rebel group Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), led a surprise offensive that captured Syria's second-largest city, Aleppo, in late 2024. Following the collapse of the Assad regime, he visited the historic Aleppo Citadel, where he was mobbed by supporters, and issued public assurances protecting the city's diverse communities.

Aleppo has such an interesting history:  It was called by the Jews living there-Aram-Zobah, (found in Psalms 60-2) and its Jewish community is one of the oldest in the world.  Aleppo is one of the world's oldest continuously inhabited cities, tracing its origins over 5,000 years to the 3rd millennium BCE. Located in northern Syria at a strategic crossroads of Silk Road trade routes, it has been governed by numerous empires, including the Amorites, Hittites, Romans, Byzantines, and Arabs. Aleppo was a major cult center for the storm god Hadad. Alexander the Great conquered the city in 333 BCE, and it subsequently flourished under Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine rule as a Macedonian colony named Beroea.

Captured by Arab armies in 637 CE, Aleppo regained its ancient name and developed into a vibrant cultural and intellectual center. It was fiercely contested during the Crusades and later experienced immense prosperity under the Ayyubid and Mamluk dynasties, building the iconic Aleppo Citadel and the city's labyrinthine souks

Serving as a key western terminus on the historic Silk Road, Aleppo connected merchants from China, Persia, India, and Arabia with their European counterparts. The heart of this mercantile activity lies within the labyrinthine alleyways of the Al-Madina Souq, which historically housed over 4,000 shops. The market complex features dozens of khans (historic caravanserais) that originally served as trading houses, workshops, and resting places for traveling merchants.

The Al-Hayyat Mosque was formerly a synagogue !  It dated from the 6th century.  Benjamin Tudela found 1,500 Jews there in 1170 CE, and later during the Middle Ages the community assumed some importance, being the home of many men of learning.

Aleppo is home to a rich concentration of historic Islamic architecture, with the Ancient City of Aleppo housing numerous landmark structures. Prominent historic examples include the Great Mosque of Aleppo, the Mamluk-era Al-Otrosh Mosque, and the Ayyubid Al-Sultaniyeh Mosque, many of which are undergoing restoration following damage during the Syrian Civil War.

Spanish Jews settled there after 1492 and reinvigorated the community.

Before 1914 there were 14,000 Jews living in Aleppo.  Emigration to the USA and England dwindled the population.

After  the UN's decision of November 1947 to partition Palestine, anti-Jewish riots took place in Aleppo and many Jews again fled this city.

By 1991 there were all of 400 Jews remaining in Aleppo.  with the main occupation trading and peddling.

The Jewish Quarter still held many different synagogues, with the oldest, Mustaribah,  destroyed in 1947 riots that took place.  The main part of this synagogue dated back to the 4th century.  It was here a famous 10th century masoretic codex of the Bible was found, now finding a new home in Israel.

In fact, my friend's mother was from Jew Street in Damascus, but maybe originally from Aleppo.

Israel Attacks Lebanon's Hezbollas For Good Reason

 Nadene Goldfoot

Hezbollah is a heavily armed Iranian-backed Lebanese Shiite militia (terrorists)  and political party, established in 1982 to oppose Israel. It operates as a "state-within-a-state," often exceeding the Lebanese army in strength. The group frequently engages in intense conflicts with Israel, firing thousands of rockets into northern Israel, forcing mass civilian displacements.

On February 2, 2026, Monday, Over the last couple of days, the IDF eliminated 2 senior Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon and struck Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists in Gaza, killing 26. The Gaza strikes were in response to Hamas violations of the ceasefire. The fight against terror continues.

Then AA from Istanbul carried this on Thursday, 2/5/26:

Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes on several areas in southern and eastern Lebanon on Thursday, in the latest violation of a ceasefire deal in effect since November 2024, Lebanese media reported.

The state news agency NNA said an Israeli airstrike targeted the al-Wazaniyeh area near Khallat Khazem in the Jabal al-Reihan region in southern Lebanon.

Lebanese media also reported an Israeli airstrike on mountainous areas surrounding the city of Hermel in eastern Lebanon’s Bekaa region.

Local outlets published footage showing plumes of smoke rising from the targeted areas, while reports said Israeli aircraft continued to fly at low altitude over parts of the country following the strikes.

The Israeli army claimed that the attacks hits Hezbollah targets in several areas in Lebanon.

No immediate information was available regarding casualties or damage.

Israeli ceasefire violations have killed and wounded hundreds of Lebanese, while Israel continues to occupy five Lebanese hilltops seized during the latest war, in addition to other Lebanese areas it has held for decades.

Israel began military operations against Lebanon in October 2023 and escalated them into a full-scale war in September 2024, killing more than 4,000 people and wounding about 17,000 others.

Lebanese officials have repeatedly called for pressure on Tel Aviv to halt its attacks and abide by the ceasefire terms, while Hezbollah has affirmed on more than one occasion its commitment to the truce, calling for withdrawal from the areas occupied by Israel during the last war.

Finally CPAC of Canada and Human Rights Advocates Calling For IRCG As Terrorists

 Nadene Goldfoot

     Live today at 11:00pm

Finally, CPAC of Canada ( Cable Public Affairs Channel, a bilingual, not-for-profit, commercial-free television service that provides in-depth, unfiltered coverage of Parliament, politics, and public affairs has stepped up to the plate of countries on February 2, 2026 to announce a desire to have the IRCG ( Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran (established after the 1979 revolution, a major branch of the Iranian Armed Forces acting as an elite ideological military and security organization that reports directly to the Supreme Leader that operates independently of the regular army) of Iran  be listed as terrorists. This was done and heard on TV listed on my youtube station.   They in turn listed all the Canadians killed by IRCG.

                Feb 3, 2026

They evidently have been watching by their methods of losing many Canadians to this brutal regime already and have alerted the Human Rights Organization of their findings.  Actually, it's either one of them or the other doing the alerting.

The first thing I heard was how many Canadians have fallen to these terrorists.  They told of at least 30,00 Iranians slaughtered by IRCG.

CPAC is asking help from Europe.  All of them need to help Iranians rise up and rebel against this regime, they said.

Iran has a right to resist the IRCG's atrocities of hanging and of being shot in the street while protesting, (which I called "the war"), because this has been massive to my old eyes. One announcement I heard by Tousi.tv was that almost 50% of the people have gone over to their side and they are very close to winning and bringing back the Crown Prince, son of the former Shah of Iran who has been directing their resistance from afar.

Note:  Human Rights is being announced to be one of the groups knowing about this Revolution going on which the rest of the world's media has ignored.

"Canada is deeply concerned by the Iranian government’s repressive policies, human rights violations and escalatory behavior, both domestically and abroad. Recent reporting by United Nations (UN) experts, including the UN Secretary-General and the UN Special Rapporteur on Iran, detail worsening trends for the human rights of women and girls, ethnic and religious minorities, freedoms of expression, religion, and peaceful assembly, as well as concern for the government’s use of the death penalty, arbitrary arrest and detention, and torture, among other issues. The Iranian government’s violent enforcement of discriminatory veiling laws aimed at further subjugating Iranian women and girls led to largescale protests that began on September 16, 2022.

The Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on Iran released its report in March 2024, affirming that Iranian authorities had committed egregious human rights violations, including unlawful deaths, extra-judicial executions, disproportionate force, arbitrary arrests and detention, torture and ill-treatment, rape and sexual violence, enforced disappearances and gender persecution."

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has killed numerous Canadians, most notably in the January 8, 2020, shooting down of Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752, which killed 55 Canadian citizens and 30 permanent residents. An Ontario judge ruled this act as terrorism, with victims' families pushing for accountability, leading to Canada designating the IRGC as a terrorist organization in 2024.

Flight PS752 (2020): The IRGC shot down the airliner shortly after takeoff from Tehran.

  • Other Deaths: Reports indicate other Canadians have died at the hands of Iranian authorities, including the 2003 killing of photojournalist

  • Zahra Kazemi and recent, ongoing deaths during protests, such as in early 2026.Zahra "Ziba" Kazemi-Ahmadabadi was an Iranian-Canadian freelance photojournalist. She gained notoriety for her arrest in Iran and the circumstances in which she was held by Iranian authorities, in whose custody she was killed.
  • Impact: The designation restricts over 10,000 Iranian officials, including IRGC members, from entering Canada.
As of early 2026, there are ongoing calls for further investigation into IRGC members currently residing in Canada.

Canada Should Take Immediate Action Against Iran's Terrorist IRGC
IRGC Massacres of Iranian Civilians and Assassination Plots Against Canadians Call for Urgent Action.

Ottawa - 30 January 2026

Following the European Union’s designation yesterday of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist entity, joining Canada, U.S and Australia, formally recognizing the group’s role in terrorism and mass repression, the Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights (RWCHR), alongside Iranian civil society leaders and an all-party group of Parliamentarians, will hold a press conference on Parliament Hill urging coordinated international action and strengthened enforcement measures.

From ILTV in Israel, the announcer "just mentioned that Trump still dealing  with IRCG looks like abandonment of a friend," you don't deal with the people's enemy when you promised help was coming and then sit on the ocean making appointments with the enemy.  It sure does look like changing sides to me !!!

2/4/26:  Two of my favorite guys, Mati and Yair of TBN, were broadcasting about Iran's struggle in their Revolution and how bad the IRGC was---3 weeks ago !  TBN -Trinity Broadcasting Network, is a Christian station and knows exactly what's happening usually to Israel and the Middle East, very up to date that I depend on.  This segment was "Boots on the Ground."

However Did Jolani-al Sharaa Become President of Syria ?

 Nadene Goldfoot

Al Sharaa/Jolani, former al Qaeds terrorist became President of Syria by  being appointed by the many Jihadist factions in Syria following the fall of the Bashar Assad Regime in Syria.  He just signed a cease fire with his Syrian forces and other terrorist factions.

How does one get appointed by terrorist factions in a jihadist terrorist led county?  Answer is to be a son or some close relative who is a known terrorist.  These people have no concept of elections that Democratic countries use.

One thing about American Democracy is that we have 2 large meeting halls;  one for people called Representatives from their neighborhoods and the other called Senators,, both who are elected by the people.   Representatives serving two-year terms and Senators serving six-year terms, with one-third up for election every two years, all decided by voters in their respective states or districts, though state laws handle temporary vacancies differently.

Syrians or most Middle Easterners with Presidents have no clue as to how to become a President in their country.

Assad, known as the Butcher,  had held the position from July 17, 2000 till December 8, 2024.  That's almost 24 years.  Bashar al-Assad is a Syrian former politician, doctor and military officer who served as the president of Syria from 2000 until his overthrow in 2024 after the Syrian civil war. Bashar Al-Assad and his family to reportedly fled to Moscow, Russia.

Assad’s rule has been characterized by arbitrary arrests and detention, torture, extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, rape, and mass surveillance. In March 2011, only 15 years ago,  inspired by the Arab Spring’s pro-democracy protests, Syrian schoolchildren in southern Daraa painted anti-regime graffiti on a local school’s wall. They were arrested, held for days, and subjected to torture, sparking local protests calling for their release. Peaceful demonstrations quickly expanded throughout Syria, calling for freedom and dignity and, ultimately, the end of the Assad regime. As demonstrations developed rapidly, the Syrian regime steadily increased its military crackdown on demonstrators, escalating into a full-fledged armed conflict.

Between 2011 and 2021, the Assad regime killed 306,887 civilians, including 27,126 children. The Assad regime deliberately concealed the fate and whereabouts of forcibly disappeared people, with estimates placing the number at upward of 150,000 people. Moreover, over 6.8 million people have fled Syria since 2012, and 7.2 million Syrians remain internally displaced.

As the conflict persisted, humanitarian conditions in Syria deteriorated. The regime systematically denied the flow of humanitarian aid to millions of Syrians. As of March 2024, 70% of the population is in dire need of humanitarian assistance, and 90% live below the poverty line.

Assad’s rule should be remembered by his chemical attacks, particularly those in Ghouta and Douma in 2013, which saw more than 1,400 and 43 killed, respectively, a large majority of victims being innocent children.

Actually, Syria had been under 53 years of repression and brutality because his father, Hafez al Assad, was President first.  Hafez al-Assad committed widespread atrocities against Syrians, most notably the Hama massacre (1982), where his forces killed tens of thousands of civilians and members of the Muslim Brotherhood in a brutal siege, establishing a legacy of fear, repression, and human rights abuses that laid the groundwork for the subsequent Syrian civil war, characterized by mass imprisonment, torture, disappearances, and systematic suppression of dissent.

The thing is that our Democratic President Trump is trusting a born terrorist, which means giving him our secrets in security as well. Al Sharaa/Jolani just made a clever move that will make him look like an angel.  The halo will not last.  It's made of brass   In fact, Trump's halo is already getting lots of cracks in his and is also made of brass.  Let me count the ways now:  Iran, Greenland, NATO, Europe, West Wing in Whitehouse....economy, gas pricing, .and on they grow.

9/11 AND THAT OTHER HATEFUL TERRORIST AMONG OTHER TERRORISTS

 Nadene Goldfoot

Osama bin Laden—Osama bin Laden, as the founder and leader of the terrorist organization al-Qaeda, was the mastermind behind the September 11, 2001, (9/11) attacks. The attacks were the culmination of years of anti-American rhetoric and violence, which he justified with a range of political and religious grievances.

Al-Qaeda is a pan-Islamist militant organization led by Sunni jihadists who self-identify as a vanguard spearheading a global Islamist revolution to unite the Muslim world under a supra-national Islamic caliphate. Its membership is mostly composed of Arabs but also includes people from other ethnic groups.

He was also known as Usama bin Laden—was a violent terrorist and mass murderer who used bombings and bloodshed to advance his extremist goals.  Born in 1957 in Saudi Arabia, 6'6 to 6'4, 160 lbs,

After founding the terrorist organization al Qaeda, he engineered a series of attacks in multiple countries that killed thousands of men, women, and children, often ordinary citizens just going about their daily lives.

Four of the 9/11 hijackers, Mohamed Atta, Marwan Al-Shehhi, Ziad Jarrah, and Hani Hanjour, received flight training in the United States, taking lessons at various flight schools including Huffman Aviation in Florida. Other hijackers, such as Nawaf al-Hazmi and Khalid al-Mihdhar, also took flight lessons in the U.S., with their training sometimes beginning with English-language classes.

The 9/11 attacks were carried out by the terrorist organization al-Qaeda, led by Osama bin Laden. There is no evidence connecting Israel to the 9/11 attacks, and conspiracy theories alleging this have been widely debunked as false and antisemitic.
  • Separation: After the Soviets withdrew from Afghanistan, bin Laden and Azzam's ideologies diverged. In 1988, bin Laden established al-Qaeda ("the Base") as a separate organization, with the goal of expanding jihadist operations to other parts of the world. Other founding members included Abdullah Azzam, a Palestinian scholar, and Muhammad Atef, an Egyptian jihadist.
Israel fights against multiple terrorist groups, including:
  • Hamas: A Palestinian Sunni Islamist militant and political organization that controls the Gaza Strip, supplied from Iran.
  • Hezbollah: An Iran-backed Lebanese Shia militia and political party that operates along Israel's northern border.
  • Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ): Another Iran-backed Palestinian militant group that launches attacks from Gaza.
  • ISIS-Sinai Province: A regional affiliate of the Islamic State (ISIS) that has posed a threat to Israel from Egypt's Sinai Peninsula.
  • Houthis of Yemen: supplied by Iran as others are, also.
  • Other smaller militant factions: Israel also combats various other militant groups in the West Bank and Gaza.
  • The Middle-Easterners were not concerned with Israel during this period
  • They could find other faults to kill for.  Al-Qaeda wanted to spread their way

JEWISH LIVES MATTER:

 Nadene Goldfoot

The United Nations currently has 193 member states. Every member state has equal representation in the UN General Assembly.

Why would any International powerhouse with UN standing vote to put a state next door to Israel who has sworn to destroy it since 1967 and tried on October 7, 2023 if Israel didn't obey their commands such as cease fire, allow them to receive more aid and weapons and then to win?   It sounds like the plans of some 12 year old's playbook !

World leaders at UN attending a special meeting

AI came up with these facts:  Recent statements indicate that several countries are considering or have announced their intention to recognize a Palestinian state at the upcoming UN General Assembly in September.  Before France's recent announcement of its intention to recognize a Palestinian state in September, more than 140 countries had already recognized a Palestinian state. Among the countries that announced conditional plans to offer recognition, or who were signatories to a declaration pointing towards future recognition, before or concurrently with France's announcement, the following stand out:
PM Keir Starmer says UK will recognize Palestinian People

World Leaders standing for a family portrait with their flags, the family that votes together sticks together must be their motto.
  • Britain: Announced conditional plans to recognize a Palestinian state if Israel doesn't agree to a ceasefire with Hamas and end the situation in Gaza. (Good G-d! Don't they realize that this would allow terrorists the upper hand and it would end all right, more possibly be the end of Israel.....All this time Israel would have loved to have had some pressure on Hamas to change their ways and join us in peace, but Iran had their claws in them and You, the WEST, didn't give a hoot about Israel's survival.)
    PM Justin Trudeau (2015-March 2025)
French President Emmanuel Macron’s decision to pledge recognition of a Palestinian state at the upcoming UN General Assembly in September took many observers, in and outside of France, by surprise. Only a few weeks earlier, Macron had cautiously articulated a vision that conditioned such recognition on demands that included the exclusion of Hamas from Palestinian politics. Several factors can explain this sudden shift. Domestically, Macron leads a minority centrist government, and the far-left opposition has long called for such recognition. However, Macron’s statement is unlikely to ease French politics, which are today less about the Israel-Palestine conflict than the approval of a contentious new government bill. (I say he was very naive.

  •                                        Mark Carney
  • Based on recent announcements, the Prime Minister of Canada who has stated Canada's intention to recognize Palestine as a state is Mark Carney. Prime Minister Carney announced on July 30, 2025, that Canada plans to formally recognize the State of Palestine at the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in September 2025. This decision follows similar announcements from the United Kingdom and France.
  •   Canada's Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney made the announcement after a Cabinet meeting,Announced conditional plans to recognize a Palestinian state, demanding that the Palestinian Authority (PA) (which rules Our Ancient Judea and Samaria: the West Bank) make democratic reforms including an election (excluding Hamas) in 2026. (Heck, we've been wanting this since Israel gave Gaza to the Palestinians in 2005 and they held their democratic vote and voted in Hamas terrorism. )
  •   Malta: Declared its upcoming recognition of a Palestinian state.
  • Christopher Cutajar, the permanent secretary at Malta's Foreign Ministry, made his country's announcement earlier at the U.N. General Assembly's meeting on a two-state solution to the conflict which was extended to a third day because of the high number of countries wanting to speak.

  • Portugal: Indicated it may soon recognize a State of Palestine
  • New Zealand and Australia: Were signatories to a declaration indicating they could follow suit in the coming months. UNITED NATIONS — Canada and Malta announced Wednesday they will recognize the state of Palestine in September, joining France and the United Kingdom in stepping up pressure to end the nearly 80-year Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
  • It's important to note that the recognition of a Palestinian state by these countries is often seen as a significant shift in diplomatic policy, especially for some Western nations. While over 140 countries already recognize a Palestinian state, the recent announcements reflect growing international pressure and concern over the ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis in Gaza. .   (If Israel could have, it could have been over in 6 days, like the Six Day War of 1967, and there wouldn't have been any such humanitarian crisis created by HAMAS, by the way.)
  • However, there is not a single, universally accepted set of conditions tied to these pledges, and the precise conditions and timeline may differ between countries. For example, while Britain and Canada have outlined conditions, France's move appears less conditional.  (Their WW2 was a give-in condition).
For the people of a state, recognition by other states signifies international acknowledgement of their statehood, leading to various benefits like participation in global affairs, diplomatic relations, and access to aid. It also implies acceptance of their sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the ability to enter into treaties and participate in international organizations.

Even Albert Einstein would wonder at the thinking process of people today.....

Right now what concerns me is the mentality of so many who think along this line who are the leaders in the world.  So many Western powers and then so many Middle Eastern Powers have thought along this line; constantly using one tiny but most stubborn group of people, the Jews, the world scapegoats, pulling at my ancestors to believe in their god or their gods, and we also had mentally signed a covenant saying we would believe in a one-G-d covenant and never change, and though some have fallen off the promise, we still have a core group existing, called The Jews, the People of the Book;  the Chosen.  No matter how you believe, what are you thinking of?  Does this make sense to you?  Have you no individual plan for  Israel and the Palestinian Arabs instead of this pretty much unified statement?

Lots of others have claimed the name, saying Jews are no longer "necessary," that  they were taking their place;  but they have no idea of what it entails;  and sometimes I even wonder if G-d knew what he was asking of us;  but you know, it just makes so much sense to us, that we can't even blink our eyes against the intelligence of it all.

For 4,000 years, more or less since Abraham, we have followed Judaism, stepping over all the challenges thrown into our path somehow, and we'll keep on hoping.  Jewish lives matter, and this is the challenge to the world, finally.

Genesis 12:3 teaches us that “I will bless those who bless you.” God will bless those who bless you [Israel]. You can take a stand for Israel. Speak up for Israel. Stand up for Israel. Pray for Israel. Bless Israel today, and may God bless you in return.

Are they going to be bright enough to allow us our Israel in peace and security or not, and if they can't do that, what is to happen?

My friend from the Micronesian Islands just told me a story with the moral of the story being, "Be patient"  the Lord works in mysterious ways.  I'm about running out of patience.  What timing!!!
