Israel Attacks Lebanon's Hezbollas For Good Reason

 Nadene Goldfoot

Hezbollah is a heavily armed Iranian-backed Lebanese Shiite militia (terrorists)  and political party, established in 1982 to oppose Israel. It operates as a "state-within-a-state," often exceeding the Lebanese army in strength. The group frequently engages in intense conflicts with Israel, firing thousands of rockets into northern Israel, forcing mass civilian displacements.

On February 2, 2026, Monday, Over the last couple of days, the IDF eliminated 2 senior Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon and struck Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists in Gaza, killing 26. The Gaza strikes were in response to Hamas violations of the ceasefire. The fight against terror continues.

Then AA from Istanbul carried this on Thursday, 2/5/26:

Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes on several areas in southern and eastern Lebanon on Thursday, in the latest violation of a ceasefire deal in effect since November 2024, Lebanese media reported.

The state news agency NNA said an Israeli airstrike targeted the al-Wazaniyeh area near Khallat Khazem in the Jabal al-Reihan region in southern Lebanon.

Lebanese media also reported an Israeli airstrike on mountainous areas surrounding the city of Hermel in eastern Lebanon’s Bekaa region.

Local outlets published footage showing plumes of smoke rising from the targeted areas, while reports said Israeli aircraft continued to fly at low altitude over parts of the country following the strikes.

The Israeli army claimed that the attacks hits Hezbollah targets in several areas in Lebanon.

No immediate information was available regarding casualties or damage.

Israeli ceasefire violations have killed and wounded hundreds of Lebanese, while Israel continues to occupy five Lebanese hilltops seized during the latest war, in addition to other Lebanese areas it has held for decades.

Israel began military operations against Lebanon in October 2023 and escalated them into a full-scale war in September 2024, killing more than 4,000 people and wounding about 17,000 others.

Lebanese officials have repeatedly called for pressure on Tel Aviv to halt its attacks and abide by the ceasefire terms, while Hezbollah has affirmed on more than one occasion its commitment to the truce, calling for withdrawal from the areas occupied by Israel during the last war.
