Truce Not Holding, Hezbollah Attacked

 Nadene Goldfoot

Pakistan says 'technical-level talks' between US and Iran to start tomorrow in Switzerland, after Lebanon fighting, Iran claim to close Hormuz, threatened to again delay talks * Vance to head there soon; Ghalibaf will lead Iranian delegation * Trump shares article saying he 'holds the cards in Netanyahu’s shaky reelection chances'

Israel, still treated as the scapegoat of the world!!! Every day mentioned as the reason of Trump's problem with Iran, with ceasing of shooting all on Israel's shoulders while never mentioning Hezbollah, the enemy of Israel being its cause.  Oh no, its all Israel that must stop shooting, which means defending itself from the attacks.

As I said yesterday, Israel is damned if they do shoot and damned if they don't shoot.  All the while Iran is sitting back laughing at the gullibility of the USA Western thinking.  Iran can keep this up forever and wind up owning the world !!!

Cease fire?  There never will be a cease fire with Hezbollah, the right arm of Iran, for Iran's goal is to wipe Israel off the map.  They are both working in conjunction with each other.

This is the headlines this morning.  There are Christian stations like TBN who have boots on the ground of Yair Pinto fighting with Israel as well as having a broadcasting station who let us know what's happening every second, just in case Israel itself is unable to do it.  TBN stands for the Trinity Broadcasting Network. Founded in 1973, it is the world’s largest and most-watched Christian television network, broadcasting 24/7 in 14 languages across 175+ nations.

Netanyahu Caved in: Holding Its Fire

                If Attacked, Give Forceful Response

From Times of Israel:  Despite truce, IDF hits Lebanon after repeated Hezbollah attacks; at least 27 said killed.

"Israel says it remains committed to day-old truce, as Netanyahu reportedly tells military to ‘hold its fire’ against the Iran-backed terror group while threatening ‘forceful’ response if it attacks."

A cease-fire is a binding, longer-term military agreement to stop aggressive actions across an entire conflict zone, whereas a truce is typically an informal, localized, and temporary halt in fighting agreed to by commanders on the ground (e.g., to evacuate the wounded or bury the dead)

The Times of Israel is a prominent, Jerusalem-based online newspaper launched in February 2012 by veteran journalist David Horovitz and American philanthropist Seth Klarman. It serves as a comprehensive digital publication covering developments in Israel, the Middle East, and the broader Jewish world.

So we do have fantastic reporters right there reporting what's actually happening that are not bent against Israel in any way, for Democrats or Republicans or for Trump.

Israel Attacks Lebanon's Hezbollas For Good Reason

 Nadene Goldfoot

Hezbollah is a heavily armed Iranian-backed Lebanese Shiite militia (terrorists)  and political party, established in 1982 to oppose Israel. It operates as a "state-within-a-state," often exceeding the Lebanese army in strength. The group frequently engages in intense conflicts with Israel, firing thousands of rockets into northern Israel, forcing mass civilian displacements.

On February 2, 2026, Monday, Over the last couple of days, the IDF eliminated 2 senior Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon and struck Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists in Gaza, killing 26. The Gaza strikes were in response to Hamas violations of the ceasefire. The fight against terror continues.

Then AA from Istanbul carried this on Thursday, 2/5/26:

Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes on several areas in southern and eastern Lebanon on Thursday, in the latest violation of a ceasefire deal in effect since November 2024, Lebanese media reported.

The state news agency NNA said an Israeli airstrike targeted the al-Wazaniyeh area near Khallat Khazem in the Jabal al-Reihan region in southern Lebanon.

Lebanese media also reported an Israeli airstrike on mountainous areas surrounding the city of Hermel in eastern Lebanon’s Bekaa region.

Local outlets published footage showing plumes of smoke rising from the targeted areas, while reports said Israeli aircraft continued to fly at low altitude over parts of the country following the strikes.

The Israeli army claimed that the attacks hits Hezbollah targets in several areas in Lebanon.

No immediate information was available regarding casualties or damage.

Israeli ceasefire violations have killed and wounded hundreds of Lebanese, while Israel continues to occupy five Lebanese hilltops seized during the latest war, in addition to other Lebanese areas it has held for decades.

Israel began military operations against Lebanon in October 2023 and escalated them into a full-scale war in September 2024, killing more than 4,000 people and wounding about 17,000 others.

Lebanese officials have repeatedly called for pressure on Tel Aviv to halt its attacks and abide by the ceasefire terms, while Hezbollah has affirmed on more than one occasion its commitment to the truce, calling for withdrawal from the areas occupied by Israel during the last war.

Rebuttal Against Chomsky's Interview Statements About Israel and Before Operation Cast Lead Part IV

Nadene Goldfoot
IDF Entering Gaza

Noam Chomsky takes us back to November 4, 2008, day of USA elections.  He said, "Israeli forces invaded Gaza, killed half a dozen Hamas militants  (I call them terrorists as they are listed as terrorists by the USA) that led to Qassam rockets attacking Israel, huge Israeli response, lots of killings---all Palestinians, as usual."  It's the AS USUAL comment I take umbrage with and MILITANTS.  That's his opinion, not backed up with facts.  There's such a thing as cause and effect. Palestinians attack Israel and Israel strikes back.  Israel has tried turning the other cheek, and southern Israel has been blitzed.  That doesn't work.  The Palestinians are unmoved by it.   Israel and Jews are not anxious to die.  They want to live, so do everything in their power to keep their people and themselves alive.  Our motto is L' Chaim (TO LIFE).

On the other hand, the Muslims want to die, so they say, because if they die as martyrs, they go somewhere where they each will get 72 virgins.  They will get parks named after them by Fatah.  They have a completely different outlook.  THEY'RE THE ONES WHO HAVE SUICIDE BOMBERS.

Let's look at what had been going on in the previous scene.  A cease fire started on June 19, 2008.  Up to then, 2,378 rockets and mortars had been launched into Israel from Gaza in just that year of 2008. In 2007 there had been 1,639 attacks launched.  What would have happened if your neighborhood had been under such an attack and this had been going on, getting worse, since 2001?  You'd throw out your government and get someone in who would protect you and your family.  This was southern Israel that was always being hit.  Half of the state of Israel was under attack, and the northern part was under the gun from Lebanon.

Tunnel discovered in 2014 in Operation Protective Edge, One of many found and destroyed
This happened before Israel's Operation Cast Lead which occurred from December 27, 2008 to January 18, 2009.   Israel had launched a military incursion into the residential area of Dayr al-Balah in central Gaza with the aim to destroy what was a tunnel on the Gaza-Israel border dug by militants to infiltrate into Israel and abduct soldiers.

An Israeli official is said to have told the Washington Times that they wanted to send Hamas a message.  Evidently Hamas didn't get the message as it now appears that they've been digging tunnels all along from then till the present, using them for kidnapping and getting right into Israel proper.  Israel was to have said that the raid was not a violation of the ceasefire, but a legitimate step to remove an immediate threat.

Israeli infantry, tanks and bulldozers entered 250 miles into the Gaza Strip, the 1st major incursion since the June truce.  A gunfight broke out where a Hamas fighter was killed and Hamas responded with a barrage of mortar and rocket fire at the Israeli troops.  This was answered with 3 airstrikes on Hamas mortar and rocket positions that killed 5 Hamas terrorists.

Gaza's Hamas Terrorists
According to eyewitnesses, (Israeli or Palestinian is not mentioned) another 3 Hamas fighters were wounded in an Israeli UAV strike over the el-Burejj refugee camp as well as 3 IDF wounded during the operation.  Hamas said they would take revenge for this "Israeli aggression" they said had violated the truce.

Hamas launched 35 rockets into southern Israel explained by Fawzi Barhoum as a "response to Israel's massive breach of the truce,"  He said the Israelis began this tension and they must pay an expensive price.  They cannot leave us drowning in blood while they sleep soundly in their beds."

The rocket attacks increased during November 2008 nearing pre-truce levels.  Clashes took place along the border during which 11 Hamas terrorists were killed.  Between November 4 and about December 15th, more than 200 Qassam rockets and mortar shells landed in the western Negev region.  Israel responded by shutting down the crossings in response to rocket attacks on its towns.

Rocket heading for Israel from Gaza
Now, Israel's side of the story is this.  Since the truce of June 19th ,  they had had about 6 months of semi-quiet, but there had been 38 rockets and mortar shells fall into Israel from Gaza up to November 3rd.  Even back in July, PM Olmert knew there was smuggling of arms going on from the Sinai into Gaza.  So, on November 4th, "acting on intelligence that Palestinian militants were poised to infiltrate Israel and kidnap soldiers, Israeli troops cross several hundred yards into Gaza to destroy a tunnel that was to be used for the infiltration. A firefight erupts between Hamas gunmen and Israeli soldiers. One Hamas gunman is killed. Hamas launches mortar shells at Israeli targets, and an Israeli airstrike kills several Hamas members preparing to fire mortars. On the next day, "responding to the previous day's fighting, Hamas launches dozens of rockets and mortar shells into Israeli cities and towns. Israel strikes a rocket launching cell in Gaza. After the previous day's sharp increase in rocket fire, rocket and mortar attacks against Israel dip to an average of a few per day. This frequency continues until mid-December.  On the 14th of December "Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal says on Lebanon's Al Quds television that the truce expires after 6 months, and that the group will not be renewing the truce." Israel responds  on the 15th with  "Israeli official Amos Gilad arguing on Israel's Channel 2 that the truce does not expire."

Truce Broken in Syria During Eid al Adha Holiday and What This Holiday Is All About

Nadene Goldfoot
Right now Muslims are celebrating Eid al Adha.  It is also called Feast of the Sacrifice.   It is said to be Islam's most important holiday that started Thursday evening and lasts 4 days.  Assad had agreed to keep the truce for the 4 days, but he broke it by bombing a building in the Damascus suburb and killing 8 people.  He didn't keep his word.

What is this holiday of Eid al-Adha about, anyway?  It's about Abraham sacrificing his son, but in the Muslim version, the son is Ishmael, not Isaac.  Mohammad, the prophet of Islam, was born  in 570 CE and died in 632.  He had been exposed to hearing stories told by Jews in Saudi Arabia and adopted many of ours.  In his version, Abraham was about to sacrifice Ishmael, but in the Jewish  version, which is about 2,000 years older than Mohammad's, it was Isaac.

Jews have Abraham born in the beginning of  the 2nd millennium BCE.  This is a big difference as in the Jewish version, Ishmael was the first child of Hagar the Egyptian, the handmaiden of his wife, Sarah.  Abraham circumcises Ishmael  at age 13.   Ishmael was so mean and unruly to his baby brother, Isaac that Sarah had asked Abraham to send them both away, which in our version, he did. Ishmael would have been older than 13.  We understood they went off to live in Paran.  He joined Isaac in burying Abraham.  His daughter married Esau.   It's presumed that Ishmael was the father of the Arabs.

The Muslim version has Abraham  bringing Hagar and baby Ishmael to Saudi Arabia from Canaan.  It was then, as the story goes, a dry, rocky and uninhabited place.  At the time Isaac hadn't been born yet and has him married to Hagar.  He was going back to Canaan alone and Hagar asked him if she was left to die.  He answers saying it was G-d telling him to do this, and he leaves her and the boy a lot of food and water, but they are hungry and thirsty after 2 days.  She prays and water gushes up by Ishmael's feet.  Other accounts have the angel Gabriel striking the earth causing the spring to flow.  This Zamzam Well lets them trade water with nomads for food and supplies.

Years later Abraham is told to return from Canaan to build a place for worship next to this well.  He and Ishmael build the Kaaba, which became a gathering place.  Ishmael became a prophet and "gave the nomads of the desert his message of submission to G-d.  Mecca became a thriving desert city and center for trade thanks to the Zamzam Well".

Abraham was commanded by G-d to sacrifice his only son. (This is part of both Islam and Judaism traditions.).  In the Islamic version, they have Satan tempting Abraham and his family by trying to dissuade them from carrying out G-d's commandment and Abraham "Ibrahim" driving Satan away by throwing pebbles at him.   To remember rejecting Satan, stones are thrown at symbolic pillars signifying Satan during the Hajj rites.  At age 13 when Abraham was 99 years old, G-d tested their faith in public.  Abraham had a dream to sacrifice his son.  He asked Ishmael for permission and he gave it.  He cut Ishmael's throat while blindfolded so he didn't have to see him die, and found he was unharmed.  Instead, he found a dead ram which had been slaughtered.  Abraham had passed the test by his willingness to follow G-d's command.  As a reward for this sacrifice, God granted Abraham the good news of the birth of his 2nd son, Isaac.  Muslims commemorate this ultimate act of sacrifice every year during Eid al-Adha.

We Jews have a different take on the story.  Isaac, circumcised at 8 days, was saved by divine intervention with G-d telling Abraham that he didn't have to sacrifice Isaac. He was just being tested in obeying G-d.  Evidently in those days sacrificing people had been going on.  This put an end to Abraham's followers accepting human sacrifice.  Our story continues.

Isaac grew up to marry Rebekah, daughter of Bethuel and they had twin sons, Jacob and Esau.  Jacob received Isaac's death blessing instead of Esau due to his bad eyesight and Jacob tricking him.  Esau was the older twin by a few minutes but was wild.  The twins became enemies because of this and Esau sought to kill Jacob.  Jacob had to get out of town and went to Haran.  20 years later Esau received him affectionately.  Jacob's name was changed to Israel and Esau was connected with Edom.  Esau was connected with villainy and violence, and a coarse materialist.  This is why Jacob had to pretend to be Esau to receive his father's important inherited blessing.

In the United States Muslims will wear traditional clothing, pray, make pilgrimage to the Kabba in Saudi Arabia, have special foods, and give gifts.  The USA has a special stamp commemorating this holiday "aimed to highlight the business, educational and social contributions that Muslims made in the United States".

Jews do not have a holiday in commemorating this story, though it is an important part of our religious history and we are very familiar with it.  Abraham is for us, the Father of Judaism as he broke away from Ur and went to Canaan to keep his family believing in one G-d.  He started monotheism.  He's the one who broke the idols in his father's idol shop.

The people of Gaza slaughter animals for the holiday themselves in duplicating Abraham's sacrificing an animal instead of his son.  The story on Haaretz tells about a cow that tried to get away.
