How Judea and Samaria Lost Their Names AND Get Them Back Again

 Nadene Goldfoot

The territory of Jewish Palestine has been reduced by 77% of the original Mandate !!!!! This was given to Jordan's Prince so he could have a land to rule.  He was from Arabia-Saudi Arabia.

Jewish Palestine was then torn apart to accommodate Palestinians who never thought of having their own country.  They can thank Arafat for that.   They thought of themselves as Syrian Palestinians being many were from Syria seeking work building new Jewish cities and theirs were always in a state of depression.
The territories of Judea and Samaria lost their ancient biblical names through two distinct geopolitical shifts: the Roman renaming in the 2nd century CE and the adoption of the term "West Bank" following the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.
1. Roman Renaming (2nd Century CE)
Bar Kokhba fighting against Roman army :   Bar Kokhba, was a Jewish military leader in Judea. He lent his name to the Bar Kokhba revolt, which he initiated against the Roman Empire in 132 CE. Though they were ultimately unsuccessful, Bar Kokhba and his rebels did manage to establish and maintain a Jewish state for about three years after beginning the rebellion. Bar Kokhba served as the state's leader, crowning himself as nasi (lit.'prince'). Some of the rabbinic scholars in his time believed him to be the long-expected Messiah
.
In 135, Bar Kokhba was killed by Roman troops in the fortified town of Betar. The Judean rebels who remained after his death were all killed or enslaved within the next year, and their defeat was followed by a harsh crackdown on the Judean populace by the Roman emperor Hadrian
Following the suppression of the Bar Kokhba revolt in 132–136 CE, the Roman Emperor Hadrian sought to break the Jewish connection to the land. The Romans were humiliated by the fact that this Bar Kokhba and his Jewish army held out for 3 years against the most powerful army in the land;  the Romans.  The Romans merged Judea with other regions to form the province of Syria Palaestina. The name was derived from the Philistines, an ancient enemy of the Israelites, to serve as a punitive measure and erase the historic Jewish association with the region.
In 1947, the terminology was noted by the United Nations in the Partition Plan for Palestine with the statement: "the boundary of the hill country of Samaria and Judea starts on the Jordan River..." The modern term used by the Israeli government does not map precisely with the geography of the biblical areas, which in tradition extended beyond the West Bank to include Beersheba and Caesarea.
As a US official recently remarked, “Eighty percent of the Bible takes place in Judea and Samaria.” The significance of this region for Israel is historical, religious, political, strategic, and existential.

Judea and Samaria were the heart of the ancient kingdoms of Judah and, more broadly, of the ancient Land of Israel. In Judea, with Jerusalem as its capital, King David ruled; in Samaria, the northern kingdom flourished. There stood Shiloh, where the Ark of the Covenant was kept, and Hebron, home to the Tomb of the Patriarchs, the burial site of Abraham, Sarah, and their descendants. These lands are the setting of the Bible and the cradle of Jewish history.

I'm learning in my almost 92 years now that Catholicism does not read much of the "Old Testament;  only the new" like a few of the Protestant groups do.  They seem to not be moved by our history as touching their beliefs.  The Evangelical Christians are the ones involved with knowing much of our history, though in a better memorized way.  With us, we remember much through our holidays that include plenty of food to help our memories.  This is important to see who has your back and who doesn't.

For centuries, the hilly interior of the region retained variations of its biblical names. After the 1947 UN Partition Plan, the 1948 Arab-Israeli War resulted in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan occupying and later annexing the territory in 1950.
Transjordan (Modern-day Jordan): Under the British Mandate, about 78% of the original land east of the Jordan River was designated for the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
                                 WEST BANK BORN
To integrate the territory into its kingdom and de-emphasize its distinct historical Israelite and religious Jewish identity, Jordan officially renamed the region ad-Daffa al-Gharbiya, which translates into English as the West Bank, which refers to the West side of the Jordan River;  the bank being the side of the soil along the river..
                        Northern part=Samaria
                        Southern part=Judaea
                        What's left =  Israel
Notice:  the southern part is desert:  hot Negev desert.
The Negev Desert covers approximately 55% to 60% of Israel's total land area. Despite making up the majority of the country's geography—stretching across about 13,000 square kilometers (4,700 sq mi)—it is home to just 8% to 10% of Israel's population.
                                    JUDEA SAMARIA REBORN
Following the 1967 Six-Day War, Israel took control of the territory and revived the historical terms of Judea-Samaria. However, the international community largely continued to use the term "West Bank". This appears to many as a plan to continue wiping out the Jewish history of the land till people forget-not a long wait, unfortunately.
Judea and Samaria are deeply tied to Jewish history, mapping exactly to the ancient southern Kingdom of Judah and the northern Kingdom of Israel. After the death of King Solomon in 931 BCE, the Kingdom of Israel broke into two parts: the southern kingdom of Judah (later Hellenized to Judaea), with its capital in Jerusalem, and the northern kingdom of Israel, with its capital in Samaria. The northern kingdom would fall to the Assyrians around 721 BCE, and the southern kingdom would succumb to the Babylonians around 586 BCE.
                                        PROPHECY

The destructions of these two kingdoms were recorded in the Bible, as were prophecies that Jews would return and reunite them, solidifying their importance.  The return of the Jewish people to the biblical heartland of Judea and Samaria is primarily prophesied in the Old Testament by the prophets Jeremiah and Ezekiel     “In the books of the prophets, many of the prophets themselves specifically say that all of the people who went into exile will return to the destroyed kingdoms, and they will reestablish a country that includes both Israel and Judah. ” This vision forms the bedrock of the Jewish connection to the land, underscoring the enduring historical and religious association of Jews with Judea specifically, and particularly in the Western imagination.

Genealogy of Abdullah and Feisal Hussein: Kings of Jordan, Iraq and Syria

 Nadene Goldfoot

Proginator of the Hashemite clan that leads directly to the Prophet, Mohammad, Hussein bin Ali, King of Hejaz.
Saudi Arabia took over Hejaz in 1924.
The Hashemite Kingdom of Hejaz was a state in the Hejaz region of the Western Asia that included the western portion of the Arabian Peninsula that was ruled by the Hashemite dynasty.

Abdullah ibn Abd al-Muttalib (/æbˈdʊlə/; Arabic: عبد الله بن عبد المطلب, romanized: ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib; c. 546–570) was the father of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. He was the son of Abd al-Muttalib ibn Hashim and Fatima bint Amr of the Makhzum Clan.  Drawing Ali bin Abi Talib bin Abdul Muttalib al-Hashimi al-Qurashi cousin of Mohammed bin Abdullah the Prophet of Islam and his brother in law, was born on March 17, 599 AD was killed in the January 27 661 m .. It is fairer governor judgment so far.

Ibn Saud ruled the two as separate units, known as the Kingdom of Hejaz and Nejd from 1926 to 1932.  Abdulaziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud, known in the West as Ibn Saud, was an Arab political and religious leader who founded Saudi Arabia – the third Saudi state – and reigned as its first king from 23 September 1932 until his death in 1953.  Oil was discovered in Saudi Arabia in 1938, and Ibn Saud responded by granting substantial authority over Saudi oil fields to American oil companies. In the early days of the oil boom most oil revenues received by the government of Saudi Arabia were immediately directed to the coffers of the royal family. As the income from oil grew, however, Ibn Saud began to spend some revenues on improving the lives of his subjects.

Al-Hussein bin Ali 1853..1854-1932; father of Abdullah I and Feisal Hussein, two kings.  Their mother was the same woman, Abdiyah bint Abdullah who was born in 1858 and died in 1886 at the age of 27 or 28. she was the daughter of Abdullah Kamil Pasha bin Muhammad and Bazmi Jahan.  His sons Faisal and Abdullah were made rulers of Iraq and Transjordan respectively in 1921. In October 1924, facing defeat by Ibn Saud, he abdicated and was succeeded as king by his eldest son Ali.

Ali bin Hussein GBE (Arabic: علي بن الحسين بن علي الهاشمي, romanized: ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥusayn ibn ʿAlī al-Hāshimī; 1879 – 13 February 1935), was King of Hejaz and Grand Sharif of Mecca from October 1924 until he was deposed by Ibn Saud in December 1925.In December of the following year, Saudi forces finally overran the Hashemite Kingdom of Hejaz, which they eventually incorporated into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Ali and his family fled to Iraq. Ali bin Hussein died in Baghdad in the Hashemite Kingdom of Iraq in 1935 at age 56.  Being the #1 son turned out to be the worst position of all.  Poor Ali bin Ali.

The first King of Saudi Arabia, Ibn Saud and Coincidences That Followed

Nadene Goldfoot

King Ibn Saud/Abdulaziz ibn Abdul Rahman ibn Faisal ibn Turki ibn Abdullah ibn Muhammad Al Saud:  Profession: Founder of Saudi Arabia.  Was this our Sheik of Araby, as the  song went?     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4KPB34K6j4                                    "I'm the Sheik of Araby,

                               Your love belongs to me.
                               At night when you're asleep
                               Into your tent I'll creep.

Suddenly, the world, or at least the USA, was going crazy over this song and the idea of Arab lovers in 1921. This coincided-actually followed   the 1920 meetings going on about the end of WWI and the decisions of what to do with the land in the Middle East that had belonged to the Ottoman Empire which was now the property of the Allies.  The League of Nations had just decided, through the Balfour Doctrine, that Palestine would be held for 30 years by Britain, who would help the Jews create the Jewish Homeland once again, for it had been their land way back in the days of the Old Testament of Kinga Saul, David, Solomon, etc, going back over 3,000 years ago.

There was no knowledge at this time of any oil laying in Arabia.  All they had to offer the world was a lot of sand.

Coincidently, King Tut of Egypt's tomb was then discovered on November 4, 1922.  Everything Egyptian was suddenly most popular.  People were emulating everything Egyptian, clothing styles, jewelry, etc. It just happened to be a Brit who made the discovery.  "British archaeologist Howard Carter and his workmen discover a step leading to the tomb of King Tutankhamen in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt on November 4, 1922."

King Ibn Saud as the West knew him, better known to Saudis as Abdulaziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud, was born on 15 January 1875 and died on  – 9 November 1953), and was an Arab tribal, political, and religious leader who founded Saudi Arabia, the third Saudi state. He reigned as the first king of Saudi Arabia from 23 September 1932 to his death in 1953. He had ruled parts of the kingdom since 1902, having previously been EmirSultan, and King of Nejd, and King of Hejaz.

Ibn Saud was the son of Abdul Rahman bin Faisal, Emir of Nejd, and Sara bint Ahmed Al Sudairi. The family were exiled from their residence in the city of Riyadh in 1890

Ibn Saud reconquered Riyadh in 1902, starting three decades of conquests that made him the ruler of nearly all of central and north Arabia. He consolidated his control over the Nejd in 1922,signing a new treaty with Great Britain,  then conquered the Hejaz in 1925. He extended his dominions into what later became the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1932.

As King, he presided over the discovery of petroleum in Saudi Arabia in 1938 and the beginning of large-scale oil production after World War II.

                                         Abdullah II

He fathered many children, including 45 sons, and all of the subsequent kings of Saudi Arabia. Out of this line, we meet Abdullah, who had no land, met Churchill and secured 79% of the already deemed land to be the Jewish Homeland, Judea and Samaria.  He was the ancestor of the present king of Jordan, Abdullah II.  It is said that their line goes back to Mohammad.  They are the Hashemites.  " He is a member of the Hashemite dynasty, the royal family of Jordan since 1921, and is considered a 41st-generation direct descendant of Prophet Muhammad."

Transjordan, Judea and Samaria originally belonging to the Jews, which became a (region), an area to the east of the Jordan River. Oultrejordain, a Crusader lordship (1118–1187), also called Transjordan. Emirate of Transjordan, British protectorate (1921–1946) Hashemite Kingdom of Transjordan, a former name (1946–1949) for the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.    Here's what happened to the Jewish Homeland.  Notice that the piece left for the Jews, the purple area, has been given to the Palestinian Arabs now, called the West Bank, which is really the western part of Judea and Samaria with the Jordan River as the divider.

Land of Israel (1040-920 BCE) Saul to Solomon's death

interestingly, Jews did live in Arabia, with a great many by the 6th and 7th centuries.  In fact, they were converting to Judaism.  Mohammad (570-632) came across many Jews and incorporated some Judaism into Islam.  It is said that Mohammad even had a Jewish wife.  Rayhāna bint Zayd (Arabic: ريحانة بنت زيد) was a Jewish woman from the Banu Nadir tribe, who is considered by some Muslims as being one of Muhammad's wives. Certainly people know of stories in the Koran about the Jews that were not flattering, as they were told of finding Jews behind rocks and killing them. So by 1920, the land was pretty much devoid of any Jews.

In truth, being Abdullah I came to his new land of Transjordan with a very small population from Arabia to rule someone, has really become a Palestinian refuge of Arabs; thus here is your Palestine.  Abdullah II has even married a Palestinian woman. The State is made up mostly of Palestinians.
