Israel is currently on high military alert as defense officials warn of a heightened risk of Iranian attacks targeting Israelis both at home and abroad ahead of the Jewish High Holidays.

 The Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah) begins next week on September 11, 2026. Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that Israel is tracking signs that severe economic distress and regional escalations might push Tehran to launch "desperate measures". 

Israeli source says Tehran may strike Israel directly or use proxies to erode defenses and pressure Washington back to talks as economic and political leverage shrinks.
