Two Islamist terrorists—a 50-year-old father and his 24-year-old son, Naveed and Sajid Akram, from southern India—intentionally targeted Jews in Australia's Bombi Beach. The assailants were armed with six rifles and knives; police later found bombs and Islamic State (ISIS) flags in their car.
The son was a follower of an Australian imam whose lectures vilifying Jews were removed from the internet earlier this year.;
He must have been like Qaradawi, a preacher thrown out of Egypt who found the perfect home for his anti-Semitic lectures over the radio, TV, etc. in Qatar who was followed all over the Middle East. Broadcast on Al Jazeera, which had an estimated audience of 40–60 million worldwide, and also found on the web. Surprisingly, Yusuf al-Qaradawi (the likely intended name) was one of the most influential Sunni Muslim clerics of his time. His views were notably hostile towards both Shi'ite Muslims and Jews.

- Wissam "Abu Ousayd" Haddad: A Sydney-based preacher with pro-ISIS views has been a central figure in ongoing legal battles and media reports regarding hate speech and incitement. The Executive Council of Australian Jewry (ECAJ) has taken legal action against him, with a court finding his speeches breached the Racial Discrimination Act. He is a prominent figure among radical elements in Australia. Wissam Haddad is a Sunni Muslim. He is a controversial fundamentalist preacher in Sydney known for his extreme sermons and his strong opposition to the Shiite community and its leaders. Haddad has used derogatory terms against Shiite figures and has publicly stated his anti-Hezbollah and anti-Iran stance, accusing the Shia community of betraying Islam and Sunnis. His rhetoric highlights the sectarian divisions within Islam.

- Two senior members of Sydney’s Muslim community have also revealed they told NSW Police a decade ago about the behaviour of radical preacher Wissam Haddad. The Bankstown-based cleric has been the focus of new significant attention, given his association with Bondi shooter Naveed Akram.
On condition of anonymity, they told this masthead that police said they wanted to keep Haddad’s Islamic centre open because it was a “good source of intel”. A lot of good that does when they missed the window opening for Naveed and his father to kill Jews at Bondi on Chanukah!
Australia has several Imams. Sheikh Shadi Alsuleiman: As president of the Australian National Imams Council (ANIC), he condemned the Bondi Beach attack as a targeted act against the Jewish community and called for unity. However, he has also faced recent media scrutiny for recording a podcast with an activist who reportedly called the October 7, 2023 attack "a lie"
News reports in Australia have focused on a top Australian imam, Sheikh Shadi Alsuleiman, who recorded a podcast with Mr. Altikriti. Anas Altikriti born 9 September 1968 in Iraq) is a British Iraqi who is the CEO and Founder of The Cordoba Foundation The Cordoba Foundation describes its aim as "bridging the gap of understanding between the Muslim World and the West". Anas Altikriti himself is a hostage negotiator, who has successfully negotiated the release of 18 hostages from various conflict zones around the world, between November 2005 and October 2015. The Cordoba Foundation has been criticized for its links to the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas. In 2009 David Cameron, then leader of the opposition, made a statement during a Parliamentary Prime Ministers Questions, in which he alleged that TCF was a front for the Muslim Brotherhood. Did he ever offer to help Israel get back hostages? What's wrong with Qatar getting him on board? Hmmmm.
In the podcast and in X (formerly Twitter) posts, Mr. Altikriti made several claims, including: "Allegations of rape made by Israel are false. It's a lie."The claim about "40 beheaded babies was a lie"."mass slaughter of Israeli citizens on the 7th of October. That too was a lie".
The story gained significant attention in Australia because Sheikh Alsuleiman had recently been pictured with the Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese.
