Can Our Leaders Psychoanalyze Our Enemies?

 Nadene Goldfoot

I just watched a discussion with Dr. Eric R. Mandel as the person interviewed on JBS program with Shakar Azari,   In the News, Iran Nuclear Talks.  In it, Dr. Mandel was explaining that there is a difference in thinking patterns of people in the Middle east Islamists like Iran compared to the USA.  What we've been doing is thinking that they are thinking like we do.  They're slightly different, especially about "lying, and when it's permissible".  They have a few different scruples (my word).  I wondered if our psychologists are aware of this;  that depending on what part of the world you are from can determine how your thinking patterns are?

"Dr. Eric Mandel is the founder and Director of MEPIN™, the Middle East Political and Information Network™. MEPIN is a private Middle East research analysis read by members of Congress, their foreign policy advisors, members of the Knesset, journalists, and organizational leaders. He regularly briefs members of Congress and their staffs about the current geo-political situation in the Middle East.

He also meets with members of the Israeli leadership and think tanks.    Dr. Mandel is a regular columnist for The Jerusalem Post, contributor to The Hill and The Forward, and regularly appears on i24 TV news, writing and speaking about America’s geopolitical challenges in the Middle East; Iran, Syria, Egypt, Jordan, Hezbollah, Saudi Arabia, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict."

He was an excellent speaker and explained how such people in our government high up just didn't get their ambitions and how far they have gone in dealing with the nuclear energy and other problems.

From my experience in reading and writing about Israel's history with Persia/Iran and other adversaries that we've had, I can certainly see his point.  It is especially important to understand Iran today, being they had been holders of a vast empire.  They'd like to get back to that point.

The Stanford Encyclopedia of philosophy said that "The psychological views delineated by Aristotle were the dominant paradigm for Muslim philosophers, as modified by Hellenistic variations expressing Platonic perspectives. The 9th to the 12th centuries is the period of rigorous philosophizing that characterizes classical Islamic philosophy, and it is the period and subject with which this article is concerned. It is divided as follows:"

"1. Sources and First Expressions: Al-Kindî and Razi

Aristotle's philosophy of mind in Islamic philosophy is a combination of what we would today call psychology and physiology, and is not limited to investigations of our rational faculty. However important, the “mind” or intellect, with its practical and theoretical aspects, is only part of the falâsifa's “science of the soul.” Their main sources are found in three Aristotelian treatises: On the Soul (De anima), On Sense and Sensibilia (De Sensu et Sensibili), and On Memory and Recollection (De Memoria et Reminiscentia). The last two belong to a series of nine short physical treatises, called accordingly Parva Naturalia, and include two that deal with the related topic of dreams and prophesying by means of dreams."

As a defender of Israel, he wrote: In October, I wrote an article for the JewishMedia News Service www.jns.org, and I say that our young people sound like they are very apathetic to Israel, and I ask, why?

, “Young American Jews and Israel,” citing a statistic from a recent Cohen and Kelman poll: 50 percent of young American Jews would not consider the destruction of Israel a personal tragedy. In contrast, 80 percent of their elders

      — American Jews over the age of 65 — reported that Israel’s destruction would be a personal tragedy for them. I based the article on an observation by Daniel Gordis in his new book, “The Promise of Israel.” He writes: ““…when the ingathering of exiles after two thousand years does not strike a chord of sheer awe, Jews have lost sight of the real significance of Israel’s recreation. When Jews the world over do not recognize that the delegitimization of Israel affects them…a renewed discourse is desperately needed.”

"One problem is a lack of information. There are people across the age spectrum who want to advocate for Israel but don’t feel comfortable with their level of knowledge or in speaking up. That’s where I help, he said. "

"The people who are our adversaries have their own set of facts. Winston Churchill said, “A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.” Once a lie is put out to the public, there is no accountability, and the media go back to the same people again and again to ask for facts and quotes, even if they are not true."

There are pathological and compulsive liars.  I fell for one on line today, showing a picture of 4 sisters; and I fell for it; I clicked and all of a sudden the computer went crazy, bells, ringing, noise, and it said, "DO NOT TURN YOUR COMPUTER OFF.  And I did and was saved.  I'll never do that again.  You can't even trust your metallic computer these days, and I knew better.  What does that say of me?  Gullible.  So we gullibles who like people must be cautious, especially when we're watching news on TV.

Not only is this so true of the people who run our government, but us too, analyzing  things we watch and read and citing from what perspective they are coming from in their presentations.  We have to beware of becoming like the worker ants who just react without any personal thinking.

Why a Jewish Interest in Psychology?

Nadene Goldfoot
Sigmund Freud (1856-1939)

A science of the mind?  Many people do not believe that such a thing is possible.  They accept doctors who can set bones, but not changing one's mind to something in better condition.  How did Jews come to break this barrier?
Jews have been persecuted for centuries and this has made Jews unusually sensitive to his environment and the conduct of other men.  It even started with living during the Greek times.  Jews believed in one G-d and Greeks believed in a pantheon of Gods with families of them and amazing stories.  They even intermarried with humans at times.  Jews believed in circumcision and Greeks didn't.  All this made Jews stand out as being different, enough reason not to be accepted and thus were persecuted.

The Talmud speculated as to individual differences among men as found in Avot 5:14, and indicated signs by which mental deficiency could be recognized in Hagigah 3b-41.  It commented upon criteria for analyzing human behavior in Eruvin 65b.

There were 2 Talmuds, the Babylonian and the Palestinian in which are collected the records of academic discussion and of judicial administration of Jewish Law.  This covered several centuries of work after 200 CE which was the date of completing the Mishnah.  Each Talmud consists of the Mishnah together with the gemara which is both a commentary on and a supplement to the Mishnah.  Now, the Mishnah is the legal codification containing the core of the Oral Law compiled by Rabbi Judah Ha-Nasi and arranged logically. Rabbis who dealt with such problems had to have great minds as a lot of discussion and debate went on in groups.

Jews have played a disproportionate part in the evolution and progress of the science of the mind. "The fundaments of several psychological movements can be traced directly to Jewish values, ideas, and practices, and Jews in the 20th century were at the forefront of research about the psyche and the varieties of human behavior.  “Jews differ from many cultural groups in that they place less value on self-reliance and are less suspicious of taking their problems to professionals.” Thus, the traditional role of rabbi/rebbe involves extensive counseling or psychotherapy."

1. SIGMUND FREUD (1856-1939) was the founder of psychoanalysis and the man who did most to illuminate the dynamism of the forces at work in the various levels of the mind. Most of his life was spent in Vienna, Austria which he left when the Nazis invaded in 1938 for London.  He was a neuropathologist and clinical neurologist.  He became interested in hypnosis and in treating people's neuroses by hypnosis.  He developed the technique of free association. He considered all religion as an irrational manifestation of the human mind traceable to early personal internal conflicts like other individual neuroses.  That included his own family's religion of Judaism.  "Freud based his rules of therapy on the Rabbi-student relationship in orthodox Jewish culture (he and his wife were decendents of hassidim. While he was decidely irreligious, an author argues that he would have been strongly influenced by Jewish teachings based on Jewish living situations in pre WWII Europe). For example, in orthodox Jewish culture, the Rabbi is seen as having special knowledge and many religious individuals go to the Rabbi for advice and share thier most painful memories and dilemmas. The Rabbi dispenses sagacious advice based on his special knowledge and insight. This is similar to the psychoanalist who has "special knowledge" and "procedures" that help him see and interpret the patient's unconcious conflicts.
The year he died was when he presented his case that Moses was an Egyptian based on his psychoanalytical concepts.   His daughter became a child psychologist.

2. JOSEPH BREUER (1842-1925) was a Viennese neurologist.  He collaborated in the study of catharsis with Sigmund Freud.  However, he differed with him on the theory of psychoanalysis. He  was a distinguished Austrian physician who made key discoveries in neurophysiology, and whose work in the 1880s with a patient known as Anna O. developed the talking cure (cathartic method) and laid the foundation to psychoanalysis as developed by his protégé Sigmund Freud.er was then a mentor to the young Sigmund Freud, and had helped set him up in medical practice. Ernest Jonesrecalled, "Freud was greatly interested in hearing of the case of Anna O, which made a deep impression on him"; and in his 1909 Five Lectures on Psycho-Analysis, Freud generously pointed out, "I was a student and working for my final examinations at the time when Breuer, first (in 1880-2) made use of this procedure.  Never before had anyone removed a hysterical symptom by such a method."  Breuer's granddaughter, Hanna Schiff, died while imprisoned by the Nazis.

3. HUGO MUNSTERBERG (1863-1916) Born in Danzig, Germany,  He set up a laboratory for experimental psychology at Harvard University. "Hugo Munsterberg was a pioneer in the fields of Industrial (I/O), Experimental , and Clinical Psychology. Also, he championed behaviorism, investigated the value of prayer, and challenged the effectiveness of eye witness testimonies. He was a famous Harvard professor who helped redefine Wundtian psychology into its modern form. However, the last years of his life were spent in stress and sorrow, and in his last years was barely ackowledged.  A genious, "in 1885, he received his Ph.D. degree in psychology with his dissertation on the doctrine of natural adaptation. Then, he went to Heidelberg to continue his medical studies and in the summer of 1887, he received his medical degree and passed an examination which would allow him to lecture as "privatdocent" at Freiburg. During this time, he lectured mainly on philosophy. There was no psychological laboratory at the University so Munsterberg equipped rooms in his own house with certain apparatus and attracted many students from Germany and other foreign countries. He had a hard time in WWI and defended Germany.   William James invited him to the USA in 1916.  He and his brother were later converts to Lutheranism.  At his death, the general attitude toward Münsterberg had changed and his death went relatively unnoticed. This was because of his pro-German attitudes and his support of German policies. He did try to talk about the inaccurate stereotypes held by both the Germans and Americans.Münsterberg's support of the supposed efficiency and modernity of the German autocracy caused him to be suspected of being a German spy, and many of his more liberal Harvard colleagues disassociated themselves from him. There were also threats against his life. He remained at Harvard as a professor of experimental psychology and director of the Psychological Laboratory until his sudden death, possibly due to stress, in 1916 while on a lecture platform.

4. CHARLES SAMUEL MYERS (1873-1946) was an English psychologist and professor at London .  He was largely responsible for the development of industrial psychology. He wrote the first paper on shell shock in 1915, but did not invent the term. He was co-founder of the British Psychological Society and the National Institute of Industrial Psychology.  He was active in English Jewish communal life.

5 MAX WERTHEIMER  (1880-1943)  Psychologist, taught in Germany until 1933 and Nazism came, and then immigrated to New York and taught at the New School for Social Research. . He was an Austro-Hungarian-born psychologist who was one of the three founders of Gestalt psychology, along with Kurt Koffka and Wolfgang Köhler in 1912.  He had attended the University of Prague.

6. KURT LEWIN ((1890-1947) Psychologist, professor of psychology and philosophy in Berlin, saw Hitler, immigrated to USA in 1932. In 1944 he established and headed the Research Center for Group Dynamics at the Mass. Institute of Technology.  He was a student of minority problems, conducted basic research into their social psychology and so founded the system and studies in topological psychology and explained authoritarian and democratic group behavior. He  opened a new field in the application of physics to psychological phenomena and investigations into the behavior of children.

7. ALFRED ADLER  (1870-1937)  founded the school of Individual Psychology. He was from Austria and was a psychologist and a physician.  Originally he was a disciple of Freud but formulated his own theory of Individual Psychology which influenced medical, educational and social theory.  He immigrated to the USA in 1934 and taught that human nature is influenced by the conflict between the individual's will to survive and his social feelings; and by the necessity of reaching a compromise between them.  An inferiority complex results in self-assertive tendencies and opposition to society and this causes psychological disturbances and demoralization.

8. OTTO RANK (1884-1939) Psychoanalyst and was a founder of the International Psychoanalytic Institute in Vienna and its director from 1919-1924.  At first he was a disciple of Freud but broke with him in 1925 over the importance of the conscious and the unconscious.  He developed his own theory of the birth trauma as it being a source of the neuroses.  Otto  immigrated to USA in 1935 when Nazis were acting out against Jews.   He studied the influence of myths.

9. THEODOR REIK (1888-1969) Psychoanalyst who taught in Europe until 1938, then immigrated as Nazis were clamping down on Jews.  He wrote books on popular psychology including interpretation of Jewish customs, and  applied psychoanalytic concepts to explaining Jewish ceremonials. From 1946, he was president of the National Association for Psychoanalytic Psychology.

10. CHARLES GABRIEL  SELIGMAN (1873-1940) He was a  "British physician and ethnologist.analyzed anthropological data in the light of psychological research. " His main ethnographic work described the culture of the Vedda people of Sri Lanka and the Shilluk people of the Sudan." "He was a proponent of the Hamitic hypothesis, according to which, some civilizations of Sub-Saharan Africa were thought to have been founded by Caucasoid Hamitic peoples."

11. KURT Goldstein (1878-1965) Neurologist and psychiatrist who was born in Poland, settled in the US in 1935 when Nazis were bearing down on Jews.  He propounded the neurobiological theory  known as "holism" which sees the mind as a single unit in all the functions of which the total personality is reflected.  He summarized his philosophical views in The Nature of Man."

11.HAIM GINOTT, (1922-1973) Israeli clinical psychologist dealing with parents and children.  Gives advice as to what to do. Wrote a book on Parents and children that I used as a teacher and parent.

12 DANIEL  Kahneman: (1934) in Tel Aviv,   (Hebrew: דניאל כהנמן‎, ) is an Israeli-American psychologist   notable for his work on the psychology of judgment and decision-making, as well as behavioral economics, for which he was awarded the 2002 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences (shared with Vernon L. Smith). His empirical findings challenge the assumption of human rationality prevailing in modern economic theory.
With Amos Tversky and others, Kahneman established a cognitive basis for common human errors that arise from heuristics and biases (Kahneman & Tversky, 1973; Kahneman, Slovic & Tversky, 1982; Tversky & Kahneman, 1974), and developed prospect theory (Kahneman & Tversky, 1979). He was awarded the 2002 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics for his work in prospect theory.

13. DAVID GOLDFOOT (1942-)American  Psychologist in Wisconsin in his clinic,  created an app for cell phones  for people in therapy and out  to use in helping their willpower in controlling urges and gives them the support they need.  Earlier he received fame by being written up in Playboy Magazine about odors and sex.

Go figure, gentlemen.   As one Jewish mother said,
                                                         " Is one Nobel Prize
so much to ask from a child
                                                         after all I've done?"

How Obama Really Stepped Into It In Handling Middle East Problems

Nadene Goldfoot

Obama thought he had a handle on Muslims.  He gets a big fat F in doing so.  He started off on the wrong foot with  his Cairo Speech. He was condescending to them by having the Muslim Brotherhood, an outlawed group, attend his speech and not only that, but sit in the front rows.  What he had done was "to indulge their concerns for honor by backing off the behavior that they claimed offended them.  Obama participated in honoring and confirming their most belligerent attitudes" towards Israel and the USA.  They got a lead in this way.  It turned to be be not a move leading to peace but ended up "confirming and weaponizing the Arab world's most toxic weaknesses, their insecurity "with having to deal with the Western world and having Israel in what they thought was THEIR back yard.  Here Obama has been backing the Muslim Brotherhood, the most hateful group of Jews, who want to kill us all and destroy Israel.  He put Jews' lives at risk everywhere in the world and caused a complete upset in Egypt as well that they are continuing to deal with.  .

Here so many of us all thought he himself was a Muslim through his father who was from Africa,  Muslim for a short while but now Christian, but Obama didn't have a clue about Arab psychology.  He might have been operating from  his knowledge of his Black Christian ethics in attending his church led by  Jeremiah Wright, a man who did not like Jews, placing Arabs as the underdog in the white society  like Blacks were and needing a boost of kindness of loving Christian attitudes.  Wrong.  He had helped to bring on their "all-or-nothing conflicts, their addiction to revenge, their paranoid scapegoating, their shame-driven hatreds" against Jews.  In the beginning of Islam, Jewish tribes in Medina were forced to convert or die by the sword, and then they were expected to assist in fighting against the enemies of the new Muslims.  Some turned traitor and assisted the wrong ones.  They are still to this day reminded of this and all are referred to as the bad Jews in Islamic writings.

You might have to be part anthropologist and part psychologist to understand that the Islamic society in the Middle East has developed a different way of thinking from the West, but they have, and what Obama did was the opposite of what needed to be done to bring peace.

In the Middle East, the culture has been that of a warrior.  Even Muhammad was a merchant warrior.  Nomadic warriors had their codes of honor that differ from the West.  East-West.  There is a difference.  It was important to a tribe and then to a clan to follow one's honor codes or they would bring shame upon themselves.  If someone kills your father, you were expected to take revenge on the killer.  Well, we're not too far from that ourselves.  Remember the Hatfields and the McCoys?  That battle went on for a few generations from deaths in the Civil War.  .

King Faisal bin Hussein bin Ali al-Hashimi, b: May 20, 1885 in Mecca d: September 8, 1933 of Hashemite dynasty

Now, the man who was able to think outside the box, who must have had an IQ that was very high, was Emir Ibn Hussein Feisal.  Faisal was a direct descendant of Muhammad. "The Hashemites trace their ancestry from Hashim ibn 'Abd Manaf (died c. 511 AD), the great-grandfather of the Islamic prophet,Muhammad, although the definition today mainly refers to the descendants of Muhammad's daughter, Fatimah."  They are Sunni Arabs.

His father was the sharif of Mecca, the Grand Sharif of Mecca, Hussein bin Ali.  He was  more cosmopolitan, having grown up in Constantinople.  He learned how to be a leader from his father.   He fostered unity between Sunni and Shiite Muslims to encourage common loyalty and promote pan-Arabism in the goal of creating an Arab state that would include Iraq, Syria and the rest of the Fertile Crescent, like Lebanon.  Unlike ISIS, when in power he tried to diversify his administration by including different ethnic and religious groups in offices.  On the bad side, his pan-Arab nationalism may have caused the isolation of certain religious groups.

Arab nationalism and independence was his main motivation, not religion.   He was above and beyond the constrictions of his society.  Probably that's because of his genealogy, being descended from Muhammad.   He made the rules of society;   he was a leader, not a follower, and he was brilliant.  This man was the oldest son of Hussein, sherif of Mecca.  A leader of his people from the start, he was most sympathetic to Zionism!  It was because he understood that through these Jews, cousins of his, that their experience in Europe and their talents would be of assistance to improving his people.  He foresaw that the Jews could help him in building his own future kingdom.  He had taken part in WWI fighting against the Ottoman Empire (Turkey) with England from 1916 to 1918.  That led to becoming King of Syria in 1920.  He met with Dr. Chaim Weizmann in Transjordan in 1918 and then again in Paris, France in 1919 where they reached an agreement on mutual aid.  It was conditional on the implementation of the British promises to the Arabs.  Feisal became the King  of Iraq from August 1921 to 1933.   His becoming king of these two new nations was through the Western powers like England and France because of the Ottoman Empire's losing the war started in 1914.  They had chosen well, but really, there was no contest.  He was outstanding.   However, England and France broke their promises and Feisal was expelled from Syria by the French and the other jealous Palestinian Arab leaders in 1920.  This changed his attitude towards the Zionists and he became hostile.

Faisal signed the Faisal-Weizmann Agreement on January 3, 1919 as part of the Paris Peace Conference in 1919 which was created to settle disputes stemming from WWI.  It was an agreement of cooperation on the development of a Jewish Homeland in Palestine and an Arab nation in a large part of the Middle East.  The Sykes-Picot Agreement had called for an "Arab State or a Confederation of Arab States under the suzerainty of an Arab chief.  This turned out to be a secret agreement.   The French and British also proposed an international administration.  As to what kind of administration was to be decided upon after taking it over with Russia and other allies and the representatives of the Sherif of Mecca.

So there the West almost was getting along with the East but loused it up by not being honest about their intentions.  That set in motion 100 years of unrest and wars and brought out their honor code.

Feisal did not look upon the Jews as past dhimmis.  He saw them as his equals.  He looked down on his own uneducated more primitive people and expected them to improve with the Jews' living in the area.

King Abdullah, Emir Feisal's brother, another son of Husssein bin Ali, Sharif of Mecca
of the Hashemite kingdom created TransJordan.  "The kingdom emerged from the post-World War I division of West Asia by Britain and France. In 1946, Jordan became an independent sovereign state officially known as the Hashemite Kingdom of Transjordan. After capturing the West Bank during the 1948 Arab–Israeli War, Abdullah I took the title King of Jordan and Palestine. The name of the state was changed to The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on 1 December 1948."The Jordanian legal system is derived from Sharia and an OttomanEgyptian form of the Napoleonic Code. It has also been influenced by tribal traditions.  Today's King Abdullah II of Jordan is his grandson.

But like Hillary Clinton not understanding the economic problems of the average Americans, Faisal wasn't into the "oh my god-the Jews are beneath us, dhimmis of the average Arab.   Arabs hate Jews and therefore Israel because of the role we have played in the Muslim Arab honor-group.  Ever since 632, more than 15 centuries, Jews had been subject to a political status in Muslim lands designed around issues of honoring Muslims and shaming the Jews.  Dhimmi was the Jew, protected but put upon as long as they accepted their place in society of daily public degradation and legal inferiority.  Chateaubriand said in the 19th century that Jews were the special target of all the Muslims and Christian contempt.  The Jews themselves were crushed by blows.  Penetrate the dwellings of these people, you will find them in frightful poverty. "

Now with the creation of Israel in 1948, the Arabs couldn't abide it happening.  The creation was like blasphemy against Islam, an insult to Arab virility.  Jews were traditionally the most passive, abject, cowardly of the populations over which Muslims ruled.  This creation was more than humiliating.  It is a danger to all of Islam.  Seven (7) Arab armies were defeated by 650,000 population state with only about 100,000 army if that.   They lost face.  These Jews were the "surviving remnant of the most devastating and efficient genocide in history.  This was a most humiliating event that played out the same way again and again in 1956 and 1967 and 1973.  One could even think that G-d was helping them!   This is their Nakba.

Their leaders have always chosen denial that the Jews have won.  To them a war is not over until they drive out the Jews.  They react by putting the catastrophe on its own refugees and have made them suffer in camps, "frozen in time at the moment of the humiliation, waiting and fighting to reverse that Zionist victory that could be acknowledged. "

As to what to do differently, we cannot continue to indulge Arab and jihadi Muslims and their concerns for honor by backing off anything that they claim offends them.  That has been exactly what our government has been doing with the Palestinians and now Iran.  It's what they are doing in Iraq as well.  If they try to sit down and talk with Abu Bakr al Bagdadi of ISIS, they'll only lose their heads instead.  Our government has only strengthened them by doing this.

They will only respect strength.  Possibly, that's what encouraged Emir Feisal with the Allies to be cooperative.  Feisal has shown us that not all Muslims are subject to this honor system and are more interested in the good of the population and peaceful times.  There are cooperative people to work with of stature and respect from their own peer group.

The Jews are also in a bad position.  They may understand the psychology of the Arab, but their own psychological background gets in the way often.  They have had to appease every nation they have lived in in order to survive.  Being a small number of people, they had no way of rising up in rebellion at the way they have been treated.  They come from a religion of which the main thrust is to treat people like you want to be treated.  They are a righteous people, and had been told that their destiny was to be a nation of prophets, the light of the world.  When they were in the position to oversee another people, they only wanted to do the best for them, and so they stepped into the same muck that Obama did, and it backfired.  That's not what the Arabs wanted or needed.  And of course, after being scapegoats of the world, with people taught in their very bible or Koran how bad Jews, were, they have continued to be scapegoats in the UN, and they have had the automatic reflex of taking it on the chin and wondering why it was happening.  Obama and Israel, appeasement and concessions are signs of weakness.  Arabs want honor.  Benjamin Netanyahu did the wrong thing by stopping the settlement building for 9 months.  Land for peace has only worked on Egypt who we are connected to by "apron strings".  Jordan's peace comes from a dynasty of intelligence , strength and honor in their own society where they can do as they see fit and righteous and they are not dependent on other's ideas of honor.

The secret is that Arabs have to become proud of themselves to have reached nirvana or honor.  If they're not proud of their own accomplishments, then their whole being revolves around what other people think of them. and that has become the driving force of their society.

Obama has helped out in this by mentioning many times their accomplishments. They must also hear of other people's accomplishments, too, and learn to not think of Jews as something to step on and squash like an insect.   Perhaps that's a lesson that has been left out of the mix.  It's like introducing civilization back to the American soldier, Bowe Bergdahl,  who wandered off his post in Afghanistan and was held by the Taliban for 5 years, and not being immediately threatened by desertion, but having to wait for the right time to question him.  It will take a little more time for the Arabs to get used to Jews living in the Middle East and that it's not a slap in the face to their honor.  Maybe another hundred years will do the trick.

Muslims wish to copy the behaviors of Muhammad.  Surely they should see that his descendant, Emir Feisal, thought highly of the Jewish people and should emulate Feisal in doing so.  100 years.  Let's pray for this enlightenment.
