Chaim Weizmann; First President of the State of Israel, in World War I in Palestine (Part II)

Chaim Weizmann, 1st president of the state of Israel: (b:1874 in Motel city, near Pinsk, Brest Region of Belarus-d: 1952), about my paternal grandfather, Nathan Abraham Goldfus's age who was born in Telsiai, Lithuania. Later, this will all be referred to as the Russian Empire.  Answering a census question will be the answer, born in Russia.  Chaim is buried in Rehovot, Israel where the national project, YAD CHAIM WEIZMANN has been erected in his memory.  WEIZMANN INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE.   It's a research institute, dedicated in 1949.  

                                                 

Chaim Weizmann grew up in a family that dreamed of a rebuilt Zion even before the Zionist movement existed.  He organized support for the movement, and attended all but the first of the World Zionist Congresses.  Chaim soon became a World Zionist leader.  He was not yet 30 when he led the opposition to Herzl's plan for a temporary homeland in Uganda.  

It was in 1903 that Herzl bought into England's offer of this African state being anti-Semitism had become so terrible. The Uganda Scheme was a proposal presented at the Sixth World Zionist Congress in Basel in 1903 by Zionism founder Theodor Herzl to create a Jewish homeland in a portion of British East Africa. He presented it as a temporary refuge for Jews to escape rising antisemitism in Europe. 

                                               

At the congress the proposal met stiff resistance. To those attending, this was simply a band-aid.  They wanted the permanent solution of their land in Palestine.  The only problem was it was in the hands of the Ottoman Empire, but they had had about 3 groups of Jews who had returned and were living there already, the people who made Aliyah. The large-scale immigration of Jews to Palestine began in 1882.  

The pronounced persecution of Russian Jews between 1881 and 1910 led to a large wave of emigration. Since only a small portion of East European Jews had adopted Zionism by then, between 1881 and 1914 only 30–40,000 emigrants went to Ottoman Palestine, while over one and a half million Russian Jews and 300,000 from Austria-Hungary reached Northern America, my paternal grandparents among them.

Why didn't more go to Palestine and live under the Ottoman Empire? The USA was so enticing, so free, and streets were already there, paved with gold.  Going to Palestine was almost like going to conditions that Uganda had to offer.  Read:  THE SETTLERS, by Meyer Levin.  (about Palestine from the turn of the century to the Balfour Declaration, Nov 2, 1917)

WWI had brought terrible misery.  In 1914, the Jewish population in Eretz Yisrael was 85,000.  At the end of the war, it was fewer than 55,000.  Nearly 1/3 had died of starvation, illness, or exposure.  But they achieved by proving they could be equals in anything that a great power could undertake, even in the longest and bloodiest war the world had yet known.  They gained self-confidence.  In this end, great Britain, with the support of the USA, had declared that the Jews were entitled to a national home in Palestine.       

They had also made common cause with the Arabs, another group long oppressed by the Turks.  During the war, Chaim Weizmann had met with Emir Feisal, on of the most important of the Arab leaders.  The 2 men had agreed that there was room enough in Palestine to fulfill the dreams of both Arabs and Jews.                                              

Lord Balfour (1848-1930) who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1902 to 1905. with which Herzl negotiated in 1902-3.  He was Foreign Secretary in 1917 and issued the Balfour Declaration, and was always outspokenly devoted to the Zionist ideal.  

Weizmann's work as a research chemist had brought him to England, where he met a leading British statesman, Lord Arthur James Balfour.  Balfour tried to convince Weizmann that the Jews should accept Britain's off of a homeland in Uganda. 

It was Weizmann who convinced Balfour that Palestine was the only place that could mobilize the loyalty, energy and commitment of the Jewish people.  This was the reason that submerging themselves in other people's countries didn't help the Jewish soul. Look what happened in England.  Jews had been thrown out of the country from 1290 to 1655;  365 years of not being allowed to enter!  Countries had been turning against Jews.  If they weren't expelled, they were being forcibly converted.  Those that remained were suffering from pogroms.   They had to get back to their origins.  Balfour became an enthusiastic Zionist.

During World War I, the British had a problem which only a chemist could solve.  The  country needed a steady supply of the chemical acetone to make ammunition.  before the war, this chemical had come from Germany.  Where would the acetone come from to fight Germany?

Weizmann was able to provide the answer.  He succeeded in producing acetone from corn, which was plentiful in England.  through his political and chemical work, Weizmann came to know most of the political figures in England.  the time would come when these contacts would help the Zionist cause.

The Turks launched 2 attacks on the Suez Canal, something important to England as it was the key link between Britain and India, connecting the Mediterranean to the Red Sea, which cut the shipping distance from England to India by more than 4,000 miles.  The British didn't trust the Egyptians to defend the Canal, but an excellent defense, however, would be a strong Jewish settlement in Palestine.

                                             

This map shows the land of Palestine-but Jews got only 10% of it for their Jewish Homeland.  All the decision-making in dividing it was not considering the where the Jewish ancient homeland laid.  They barely included Jerusalem and then argued over it, ignoring where Judea and Samaria was (Israel's ancient homeland.)  The Jews had miraculously created Tel Aviv by then on the coast.  Tel Aviv was started in 1909.  By 1921 it was a separate town from Jaffa, where it had been a garden suburb.  

On 2 November 1917, British Foreign Secretary, Lord Arthur Balfour, issued a statement of British government policy, which has since become known as the Balfour Declaration. It stated: "His Majesty's government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavors to facilitate the achievement of this object, it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine, or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country."

The Declaration's promise of a homeland for the Jews was later accepted internationally and incorporated into various resolutions.

The Balfour Declaration, encouraging and allowing Jewish immigration, was on the docket.  A small but influential group of wealthy but Hellenized English Jews fought this move. They were afraid Zionism might damage their position in England where they enjoyed full political rights for only one generation!  Now, Zionists were showing loyalty to Palestine!                            

The President of the USA, Woodrow Wilson, cabled the British government his approval of a Jewish homeland.  This broke the deadlock.  On November 2, 1917, Lord Balfour, by then Foreign Secretary of Great Britain, issued a letter which stated: 

    His Majesty's government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people. 

France, Italy and the US officially agreed.   

Remember the Jewish Mule Corps?  While the Jewish Legion was being formed, the British launched their attack in Palestine under the command of General Edmund Allenby.  Within a few weeks, Allenby drove the Turks from Jaffa.  On December 11, 1917, he marched into the City of David to proclaim "A NEW ERA OF BROTHERHOOD AND PEACE IN THE HOLY LAND."  Allenby's arrival in Jerusalem took place on HANUKKAH.  On the same day, Jews celebrated both the liberation of Jerusalem from the Turks in 1917-------and from the Syrian Greeks more than 2,000 years before.   

The war wasn't over yet.  Winter rains prevented Allenby from ending his conquest.  That winter was the worst for the Yishuv.  The Turks attacked the Jewish farm settlements, mercilessly robbing and murdering.  At last, the Spring came and Allenby---now joined by the Jewish legion----marched north.  The Turks fled.  Jabotinsky himself led a Jewish unit across the Jordan River in pursuit.  By September 1918, the last of the Turkish forces in Palestine had been defeated.  Two months later, WWI ended.

Anti-Semitic Paranoid J. Edgar Hoover; FBI Director

John Edgar Hoover b: January 1, 1895 d: May 2, 1972
only 5'7" but practiced secret abuses of power and kept secret files
on activists and political leaders by using illegal methods.

America's 1st FBI Director was J. Edgar Hoover, who was deeply anti-Semitic; so anti-Semitic that he was paranoid about it.  This Republican took office on May 10, 1924 and nobody dared to get rid of him in this position.  He died in office on May 2, 1972, a threat to  presidents Calvin Coolidge, Herbert Hoover, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry Truman, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Robert Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson and Richard Nixon.    These presidents feared his intimidation and threats.  He kept secret files of people's sex lives and so used the fear of scandal and blackmail against Washington.
                                                                               

AKA Edward de Valera 

His paranoid against Jews showed up in the 1920s in that he always thought that Jews were subversives so ordered an investigation of the Irish nationalist politician, Eamon de Valera.  His grounds were that he was a "suspected Jew!"

This New York City born Irishman, Eamon de Valera,  became  the 3rd President of Ireland from 1959 to 1973.  He was a political man, but not Jewish.  In fact, he believed in the Catholic church and that it was most important to Irish identity.

My grandfather lived in Dublin for a very short time after immigrating from Lithuania, a hotbed of anti-Semitism when Nathan Goldfus turned 18 in 1888.  He got to England, then thought things would be better in Ireland, as many Jewish Lithuanians also thought.  They were all escaping war and being forced to be on the front lines being Jewish, pogroms where they were beaten up or faced possible death there.  This became the era when Jews immigrated to the USA in greater numbers and life under Russia was unbearable.  Many had made aliyah to Palestine starting in 1880.

Hoover's FBI became his secret police force, similar to the Gestapo used by the Nazis.  He started his own illegal wiretap in the 1920s until Roosevelt's assistant attorney general ordered him to stop in the late 1930s.  He had bugged congressmen and cabinet members during the Roosevelt administration.  For that, Roosevelt looked the other way when the British wiretapped Hoover's office in the Justice Department.  It was the British Sir William Stephenson who leaked wiretap information on pro-Nazi American businessmen to Hoover.  The Rockerfeller building was bugged on several important floors.  Clubs, law firms, shipping agencies did not escape his wire tapping,

As it turned out, Hoover wouldn't go after American Nazis, causing Stephenson  to murder a few as he would not act on those he learned about.  Instead, he went after communists.  He formed his own view that far too many Jews were Red sympathizers, and spread this to the people who worked for him.  He was paranoid about it, and the British took advantage of it.  They kept extensive electronic surveillance facilities in the USA during WWII and kept them in place when the war ended.  Great numbers of American Jews were spied on and this was all passed onto Hoover.

The FBI had the British intelligence on the American Jews who favored in independent Jewish state in Palestine and had been helping financially or otherwise.  Remember that this had already been voted on by the League of Nations who had established the 30 year mandate for the British on Palestine that would free Jews there to establish Israel on May 14, 1948, the date the British would leave.  When the Jews announced on that date the establishment of Israel, Truman would vote yes in the United Nations.

     "British Intelligence authorities have advised that the above captioned individual.....left Palestine for the United State November 21, 1947, in contravention of the Supervision Order in force to prevent his departure.
     ........ has for several years been suspected of membership in Irgun Zvai Leumi, an underground Jewish terrorist group.  It is believed that he is at present inactive in this organization due to ill health.  British authorities reported that his address in the United states will probably be in care of Carmel Rabbinical College, 441 Garrison Boulevard, Baltimore, Maryland. This could have been about my 3rd cousin, Stanley Goldfoot, who was the Chief of Intelligence for this group.  He lived in New York City and established a magazine about our Jewish state to be then.  He was born and raised in South Africa after his father's family had left Lithuania.  My grandfather shared a home in Dublin with his family.  He had good health, though, and was a great writer.  Hoover most likely had a dossier on him, too.  
                                                                                 

Ben Gurion, who became Israel's 1st president, had sent agents to the USA but didn't realize that they would be under surveillance before they ever got off the boat!  Golda Meir's arms-for-Israel campaign caused the FBI to listen to her and her colleagues in their spying.  
                                                                                   

The FBI kept spying on Jews from 1946 onward to convince President Truman that the Jews were supporting the "Zionist-Communist terrorists" in Palestine .  He was of the opinion  fed by the British that the Soviets were backing the this Jewish-Communist conspiracy.  He was convinced that there was a worldwide Jewish-Communist conspiracy.  From late 1947 on for several years, the FBI found large stockpiles of ammunition and explosives collected by prominent American-Jewish businessmen destined for Palestine, which makes me want to cry.  I know how hard it was for these valiant Jews to collect this and get it to Palestine, as it was so much needed in order to carry out the promise of the League of Nations that they were to be awarded their Jewish Homeland.  That the British were ordered to help them and see that they did everything to impede this grant makes me ill.

The British refused to defend Jews from Arab attacks so they had to contrive ways of defending themselves or die.  Haganah was created as a clandestine organization for Jewish self defense in Palestine.  In 1948 it became Tzeva Haganah le-Israel.  It was all volunteer.  This became most important after the 1929 Arab riots when the British merely appeased the Arabs.  The Stern Group was a branch that broke off and was a little tougher.
  

At this time, the buying of surplus weapons was legal.  Hoover caused his own war against the Jews by doing this, and then he had the audacity to take it to the press.  The British made both groups, Jews and Arabs,  conflicting promises. But, more and more Jews arrived, buying land, starting businesses, and many Arabs wanted Britain to stop the influx. In their efforts to keep violence off the table, Britain forbade the Jews from arming.

In 1929, rumors spread that Jews were desecrating Arab Mosques in Jerusalem. Throughout Palestine, Jews were attacked. At the time, Haim Slavin was an engineer working for the Palestine Electric Corporation. Slavin set up to produce grenades. When the violence ended, hundreds of Arabs and Jews were dead

"Chaim Slavin, a Russian-born electrical engineer widely regarded as the father of Israel’s military industries, died of a heart attack July 1980 at the age of 72. He came to Palestine 56 years ago and was employed in hydroelectric projects until the late David Ben Gurion assigned him to organize underground arms production in the period before World War II."

 Hoover's spying had exposed  the fact that one of Ben-Gurion's chief American agents, this same Haim Slavin, had procured millions of dollars' worth of USA arms and equipment for the small amount of $800,000.  Small amounts that it was made from were paid for my many Jews' donations of $18, our designated amount for donations-with the meaning of "for life!"  Haim had engineered the Dror rifle as well as much of Israel's military industries and worked secretly, he thought, in the USA and Canada, but now we know he was spied on by Hoover.  He managed to acquire hundreds of tons of machinery and weaponry needed anyway.  
                                                                   

   
Ben Gurion had said of the Palestinian Arabs, ""There is a huge difference between us and our enemies. Not only in capacity, but in morality, culture, sacredness of life and consciousness. They are our neighbors here, but it is as if a few hundred meters away there was a people that did not belong to our continent, our world, which really belonged to another galaxy. "  He spoke of a kibbutz, Tsvi Dar which was at the forefront of the Israeli militaire industries,  .. well before the creation of the state (of Israel) , several were called Maflan (factories of manufacture of arms), and were organized and managed by Haim Slavin.

Hoover's anti-Semitism spread throughout the state department and intelligence community so by December 5, 1947, after the UN General Assembly had approved the partition plan for Palestine, the US placed an embargo on arms shipments to the Middle East and the State Department "specifically forbade the issuing of passports to persons wishing to serve with armed forces not under the US Government.  This time it was the British wiretapping that stopped American Jews from giving more than just token assistance to their friends in Palestine, but the FBI claimed all the "credit."  The embargo affected both Arabs and Jews.

now were refugees.  Those who returned later were again attacked in 1936-just before WWII.
Arabs were stirred against them by Nazis.  The population grew to 38,310 by 1967.  

The embargo came AFTER millions of dollars worth of American arms had been given to the Arabs.  All the Western allies followed the USA by arming the Arabs.  The British outdid the USA by sending more weapons but didn't join in on the embargo because they had more arms to deliver to the Arabs.  They even armed Iraq and Jordan "to the teeth" while Hoover kept the Jews disarmed.

The French got in on the action, too. They sent huge amounts into Syria and Lebanon to help the Arabs.  Then France and the US sent each other rumors of Jewish-Communist conspiracy to "bolster their bigotry."    If American Jews only knew that Hoover had worse plans for Jews.  They all were about to become the principal targets of FBI surveillance during the McCarthy era.  Even though the Anti-Defamation League of the B'Nai Brith had been helping by knowing who Nazi sympathizers were in the USA.  Hoover didn't like to ask Jews for this help.  Jewish informants were labeled by him as Premature Anti-Fascists and they all were under surveillance.  Anyone who voiced opposition to Hitler before December 1941 was a suspect by Hoover. and were called pinko PAFs or commie agents.

Hoover and his ilk believed that All Zionists were suspects as potential Communist terrorists.  If you gave money to Palestine they were terrorists or Communists.  I did in Sunday School.  We gave nickels and dimes we put  into a box called Karen amein which was charity.  If anyone emigrated to Palestine, they were labeled as a Soviet agent in disguise.  Poor rabbis who didn't know!

James Forrestal kept up the wiretapping of Jews behind President Truman's back who ordered such things shut down on September 29, 1945.

How Two Brothers of the Arab World Handled the Jewish Homeland

Emir Feisal Ibn Hussein became king of Iraq

Emir Feisal  was the brother of Abdullah, ggrandfather of Abdullah II, today's king of Jordan.  Their father was Hussein Bin Ali, sherif of Mecca and Emir of Mecca.  Emir Feisal was the leader of the Arab world in 1919.  He said, "We Arabs, especially the educated among us, look with deepest sympathy on the Zionist movement......We will wish the Jews a hearty welcome home.....Our 2 movements complement one another."  
Emir Feisal  (1885-1933) was the oldest son of Hussein, sherif of Mecca, Arabia.  He became king of Iraq from 1921.  He's the one in "Lawrence of Arabia " who led the Arab "rising " against Turkey from 1916 to 1918 during WWI.  He was to be rewarded by the allies since he had sided with them against the Ottoman Empire, and was made king of Syria first, but the French, who held the mandate over that country didn't go along with Great Britain, so he was dethroned and then made king of Iraq.

 Feisal was at first very sympathetic to Zionism because he hoped to get aid from the Jews in building his future kingdom.  He even met with Dr. Chaim Weizmann in what became Transjordan in 1918 and Paris in 1919 where they reached an agreement on mutual aid, conditional on the implementation of British promises to the Arabs.  Later, owing to his expulsion from Syria by the French in 1920 and the influence of the Palestinian Arab leaders like the sharif of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini, who was called the Grand Mufti, the big fish in the little pond, Feisal's attitude to Zionism became hostile.

 Feisal showed he was educated when he and Chaim Weizmann signed their agreement in 1917.  It seems that Great Britain intervened  through holding the mandate for Palestine to bolster existing enmities and disregarded the actual best interests of the region for their own oil interests.

                        THE AGREEMENT

     His Royal Highness the Emir FEISAL, representing

and acting on behalf of the Arab Kingdom of Hedjaz, 

and Dr. Chaim Weizmann, representing and acting on

behalf of the Zionist Organization,

mindful of the racial kinship and ancient bonds exist-

int between the Arabs and the Jewish people, and

realizing that the surest means of working out the

consummation of their national aspirations, is through

the closest possible collaboration in the development

of the Arab State and Palestine, and being desirous

further of confirming the good understanding which

exists between them,

have agreed upon the following articles..

ARTICLE I

     The Arab State and Palestine in all their relations

and undertakings shall be controlled by the most

cordial goodwill and understand and to this end Arab

and Jewish duly accredited agents shall be established

and maintained in the respective territories.

ARTICLE II

Immediately following the completion of the

deliberations of the Peace Conference, the definite

boundaries between the Arab State and Palestine shall

be determined by a Commission to be agreed upon by

the parties hereto.

ARTICLE III

In the establishment of the Constitution and

Administration of Palestine all such measures shall 

be adopted as will afford the fullest guarantees

for carrying into effect the British Government's

Declaration of the 2nd of November, 1917

The fact remains that the land Israel sits on today is but a fraction of the Palestine Mandate originally dedicated to the Jews as their homeland, incorporating the Balfour Declaration.  It was the League of Nations and the British who had designated the land called Palestine by the Romans for the Jewish National Home which was east and west of the Jordan River from the Mediterranean to Arabia and Iraq, and north and south from Egypt to Lebanon and Syria.  Even historian Arnold Toynbee saw in 1918 that the "desolate" land "which lies east of the Jordan stream (it really isn't very big)  was capable of supporting a large population if irrigated and cultivated scientifically.  He said, "the Zionists have as much right to this no-man's land as the Arabs, or more.   

The Arabs of that day were given independent Arab statehood in many lands around Palestine but not within Palestine itself.  Sovereignty was granted after WWI to the Arabs in Syria and Iraq.  Saudi Arabia consisted of about 865,000 square miles of land that was designated as "purely Arab."  

Lord Balfour, who wrote the Balfour Doctrine, hoped that the small notch of Palestine east and west of the Jordan River, which was being given to the Jewish people, would not be "grudged" to them by Arab leaders.

However, Britain apparently felt the need to mend Emir Abdullah's feelings.  He was one of the royal sons of the Hejaz (Saudi Arabia).  Britain's gratitude reached out to him because the Arabians of the Hejaz had been, among all the Arab world, of singular assistance to England against the Turks of the Ottoman Empire. 

England, who held the mandate of Palestine, inserted Abdullah and his emirate into mandated Palestine in the area east of the Jordan River which was part of the land allocated to the Jewish National Home.  Possibly a suggestion from Lawrence of Arabia in a letter on January 1921 turned the tide.  Lawrence told Churchill that Emir Feisal, who was Abdullah's brother, had chosen Abdullah to lead the Arab revolt and had agreed to abandon all claim of his father to Western Palestine if Feisal got in return Iraq and Eastern Palestine as Arab territories.   

A secret dispatch was found from Chief British Representative at Amman later in 1921 cautioning that the local Transjordanian Cabinet had been replaced b a Board of Secretaries that was now responsible for all internal affairs, referring to Abdullah for a decision in the event of any disagreement.  The Board Members were in fact, Syrian exiles, more interested in the French holding the mandate for Syria than in developing Trans-Jordanian interests.  Abdullah was afraid he would look ridiculous if he had to go back to Saudi Arabia without land holdings after fighting for the British to overturn the Ottoman Empire.  

Emir Feisal got his wishes and became King of Iraq and his brother, Abdullah, the grandfather of the present king of Jordan, was installed in the British mandatory area as ruler of the "temporary" emirate on the land of eastern Palestine, which became known as the Kingdom of Transjordan."  

Britain then quietly gouged out about 3/4 of the Palestine territory mandated for the Jewish Homeland and made it into an Arab emirate, Transjordan.  Oh yes, the mandate remained in force but in violation of its terms.  Britain got away with unilaterally altering the map of Palestine  and its purpose.  By 1946 Transjordan was declared an independent state.  It became the dejure Arab state in Palestine just 2 years before Israel gained its Jewish statehood which was when the British mandate ran out of time.   Israel got 1/4 of what it was supposed to have.  Transjordan was created out of about 38,000 square miles of the Jewish Homeland and Israel got less than 8,000 square miles.  

As if that wasn't enough, Britain kept out Jews from settling the land while they allowed Arabs from the surrounding countries to enter and reside.  Israel was royally slapped in the face by people who were to assist them in creating the Jewish Homeland.

They Covet the Levant: Godless Salafists-IS Terrorist Army

When you go overboard in your zest to believe in G-d, you can miss the mark completely. These men have become a horde of murderers  trampling the Levant.  

First of all and most important, IS, a Salafist Sunni Muslim army,  is a godless group of psychopathic/sociopathic terrorists.   They have no conscience of what they are doing in their barbaric slaughter of people.  "They show a lack of remorse and shame of their actions against others"  Their aim is to frighten everyone into following them.  Is there not a fear of G-d in their religion for their acts?  "This leader and his army are deluded, however, in thinking that only they have the right to live and everyone else is wrong and must die. They show  that their thinking is irrational by choosing such a goal of creating a caliphate, especially in this manner,  by breaking all ethical laws.

 They have forgotten that Islam is the belief in one G-d.  The reason I say this is because they are saying such things like "Allah is our god and not theirs-referring to the Shiites.  If there is only one G-d, G-d cannot belong to one group and not the other. The difference is in how each group interprets the words given to them by Muhammad.   They chant, "The Shiite god is Satan."  This shows they think Satan is another god!  And look who's talking about following Satan.  If anyone is evil, it is they.  They are slaughtering people in godless barbaric ways in order to create panic among Iraq's soldiers who are fleeing madmen!  They decapitate, butcher children, Imams, Sunnis, anyone they can frighten.  No, they are evil's best pupils.  Now they are believing in 2 gods.  Another chant quite apart from Judaic monotheistic teaching from Moses is "The Sunnis are Allah's beloved."  Yet they have been killing Sunni Imams, and Sunni soldiers who defend Iraq.

Where does it say in the Koran that the Salafists are above others?   Moses taught that all people are G-d's children and are loved.  He taught this during the Exodus when the Egyptians were crossing the sea and drowned as the waters returned to their normal state.  I deduce that IS are not the monotheists they think they are.  Their thinking has become narcissistic, thinking they are so perfect and their enemy-now fellow Muslims, the Shi'a and Sunnis, are all wrong in their way of worshipping G-d.  It's all a political ruse for one man to take and create a Caliphate.  He has plenty of frightened sheep following him.

What has happened is that one person, Muhammad, received the word of G-d and he shared it in the language and words he knew as it came to him.  Now there are other people who have broken off in factions claiming to understand what Muhammad had said and only they are correct, by right of who is interpreting the words.  What is happening is that leaders are taking the words and twisting them to fit the goals they hold dear to them.  What we now see are something quite the opposite of what Moses had taught that was G-d's bidding almost 2,000 years before. Muhammad had said that Jews were people of the Book and were to be untouched, yet in the modern terrorist mind, we are the objects of their weapons, people to kill.

The Salafist IS want to take the Levant, which includes  land between Anatolia and Egypt and included in it are Cyprus, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria,  and part of southern Turkey.  They covet this land, and to covet is one of the 10 commandments they are breaking, but then they have broken most all of them now.   Levant means "the East" or "Mediterranean lands east of Italy."

What they refuse to accept is common of many of the Arabs in the region; the end of WWI and the fall of the Ottoman Empire to the West who won the war.  They are using the Sykes-Picot Agreement as the source of conflict.  This was a series of secret agreements between Britain, France and Russia and later Italy who met between 1914 and 1916.  This agreement provided for the postwar partition of the Ottoman (Turkish) Empire.  The agreement was between Sir Arthur Nicolson and later Sir Mark Sykes of Britain and Georges Picot of France.  They cut up the expanse called Palestine  with the Upper Galilee under French control, Transjordan and the Negev under British control, also the Haifa Bay, and the remainder from Nazareth to Hebron an Anglo-French-Russian condominium.

Zionists discovered this in 1917 and protested as there was a large Jewish population there.  This treaty was partly responsible for the form of the post-war frontiers of Palestine.

The Salafists say that the states within what was the Levant was an illegitimate creation of Western colonialism, and they are claiming Jihad against this law.  They don't recognize the laws of the Western world and what happens after a world war to the losers.  Mostly what IS is against is the creation of Israel and Saudi Arabia.  They are coveting Jordan, as taking that makes it easier to get to Israel.

Jordan is watching the events very closely.  IS has taken the border region of Syria/Iraq and much of Iraq already. They've taken the border between Iraq and Jordan.   After all, Jordan was created by the British who rewarded the Hashemite family 90 years ago who created the "Transjordanian Emirate." They did this by using land that was designated to be the Jewish Homeland.   This came to be known as the Jordanian Kingdom, but this is not a very religious term as "the kingdom belongs only to Allah and he has no co-rulers."  (Koran, Chap.2, verse 25).  IS people are already in Jordan and are in demonstrations that go on.

Jordan's Salafist leader is Assem Barqawi (Abu Mohammad al Maqdesi, the Jerusalemite.  He was born in a village near Shechem in 1959.and studied Islam in Mosul, which they have now taken, and Medina in Saudi Arabia.  He's published a book against the Saudi regime.  He's the mentor the man who founded "al-Qaeda in the Land of the Rivers" in 2004.  They turned into IS (The Islamic State).  He's in prison in Jordan and his followers get their orders from his cell.

IS has massacred Shiites in Iraq who are government soldiers.  Jordanians have to watch out when IS starts their attack on them.  They have already infiltrated the country.  Their language is that of the Jordanian desert dialect used in Iraq.  Their masked faces will demand the oath of fealty, the "Biya" to the head of IS, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. " Then they will attack Jordanian army patrols, military roadblocks, small army outposts and civilian cars."

"In the early 7th century, the first Caliph, Abu Bakr, whilst instructing his Muslim army, laid down the following rules concerning warfare:

Stop, O people, that I may give you ten rules for your guidance in the battlefield. Do not commit treachery or deviate from the right path. You must not mutilate dead bodies. Neither kill a child, nor a woman, nor an aged man. Bring no harm to the trees, nor burn them with fire, especially those which are fruitful. Slay not any of the enemy's flock, save for your food. You are likely to pass by people who have devoted their lives to monastic services; leave them alone."    Abu Akr has done these things.  

Shi'as are ""followers", "faction" or "party" of Muhammad's son-in-law and cousin Ali, whom the Shia believe to be Muhammad's successor in the Caliphate. Iran is home of Shi'as.  

Sunnis are "following Abu Bakr, father in law of Muhammad, who had many wives.  Abu Bakr served as a trusted advisor and close friend to Muhammad. Sunnis also believe that the companions were true believers since it was the companions who were given the task of compiling the Quran. Furthermore, narrations that were narrated by the companions (ahadith) are considered by Sunnis to be a second source of knowledge of the Muslim faith. A study conducted by the Pew Research Center in 2010 and released January 2011 found that there are 1.62 billion Muslims around the world, and it is estimated that the Sunni population is between 75% and 90%".  At the rate they are going, there soon will be no more Shi'as.  

Salafists are " practicing Salafism which  has become associated with literalist, strict and puritanical approaches to Islam – and, particularly in the West, with the Salafi Jihadis who espouse violent jihad against civilians as a legitimate expression of Islam."  "The majority of the world's Salafis are from Qatar, UAE and Saudi Arabia.22.9% of all Saudis are Salafis (concentrated in Najd). 46.87% of Qataris and 44.8% of Emiratis are Salafis. 5.7% of Bahrainis are Salafis and 2.17% of Kuwaitis are Salafis."

They believe "Many Muslims are abandoning  what they consider to be pure Islamic teachings; and that an Islamic revival will only result through emulation of early generations of Muslims and purging of foreign influences."  So we see a revival of the first Muslims and how they spread Islam.  Their behaviors and what they are reviving is the 1st century Islam, just like Mohammad's followers.  Instead of being purists though, like riding horses, they have stolen the  American state of the art weapons they found in the Iraqi arm arsenals; 4x4 fast moving vehicles carrying heavy machine guns, RPG's and light weapons like Saar AK-47 rifles called Kalashnikovs.  Oh yes, they stole all the money from the largest bank in Iraq to buy things they want as well.  

Is Hamas working in conjunction with IS in this 3rd Intifada keeping the IDF busy fighting off rockets so that IS can make more advances on Jordan?  All the fighting has caused them to be off the radar of news reports.  Let them be aware that they answered missile fire from Lebanon quickly.  Though busy, they have their awareness on the rest of their neighbors.  
                                                                           

I am comparing my very ethical Judaism (Moses (1391-1271 BCE)  and its 10 Commandments with this Salafist terroristic religion.   Islam supports the commandments also.  The first 5 laws tell us of man's duties to G-d.  The last 5 laws describe man's duties to his fellow-man. I have listed those pertaining directly to IS.  Evidently they do not try to follow even 5 of these laws.  
               1.  To believe in one G-d.  This is the only G-d.  

“And your Lord has ordained that you should not worship anyone except Him” ( 17:23 )

              3.  You shall not take an oath in vain, swearing  to an oath disgraces G-ds name by using it for no valid purpose.  So swearing allegiance to Baghdadi can be in vain.   

“And do not make Allah a target for your oaths for doing good or avoiding evil or reconciling people (2:224)

                                     
              6. You shall not kill.(murder) :  Someone who  has true belief in G-d as the Creator and Sustainer of human life will not commit murder. Torah

“And do not kill anybody that Allah has prohibited except when you have a right to kill” (6:151)

Murder: Killing any one without right is prohibited both in Bible and Quran. Quran goes further, “We ordained for Children on Israel that He who kills one person (but for retaliation or terrorism in the land)) is like killing a whole mankind. ( 5:32 )

             8. You shall not steal: this includes kidnapping people, taking land without the right

“As to the thief (man or woman) let their hands be cut off, a retaliation for what they did, a punishment from Allah. ( 5:38 )

            

Stealing: Quran prescribes a rather harsh punishment for thieves (male or female). This has been criticized by Western critics as ‘barbarous’ punishment. But Quran does not care for criticism. It has public safety in view. Once a thief has his/her hands cut off it will be a most effective deterrent for others.

 9. You shall not bear false witness against your fellow man, no false witness/slander

False evidence: Quran orders Muslims not to hide evidence, but to testify truth even if it goes against self or parents or relatives (4:135). Moreover, Quran extends this order for all Believers and does not restrict it to neighbors only (as in Bible).

         10. You shall not covet your fellow's house, wife, manservant, maidservant, his ox, his donkey, nor anything that belongs to your fellow.  G-d demands that people sanctify their thoughts and attitudes so that they purge themselves of such natural tendencies as jealousy and covetousness.  

“And do not covet what Allah has favored some of you over others.( 4:32 ) “And do not stretch your eyes towards what We have provided some of them.” (15:88)
