President Macron of France Against Free Speech of TV Mechanics Of Tousi: In Calais

 Nadene Goldfoot

"Calais, France has put Tousi's  person or persons in jail who  worked with him."   Mahyar Tousi is a political commentator in that he is the only one following the Iranians who have been rebelling against the Ayatollah regime and have been in touch with the former Crown Prince of Iran.  Tousi is also a YouTuber based in the UK.  Those in jail have not yet been charged or released.

Based on 2026 data, Mahyar Tousi's position as an independent right-wing commentator in Great Britain appears highly influential, with his channel ranked by the Reuters Institute as the #4 most-mentioned source for news on social/video networks in the UK.

His influence is built upon a digital following (1.5 million subscribers), rather than traditional media institutional support, leading to a polarizing, yet growing, prominence in British political discourse.

Why has this happened in Calais?  Calais is a French major port city in the Pas-de-Calais department, of which it is a subprefecture. Calais is the largest city in Pas-de-Calais. The population of the city proper is 67,585; that of the urban area is 144,488.  So...?

Something has changed in France.  As of April 2026, the President of France still is Emmanuel Macron (b:December 21, 1977-age 49; .Incumbency: He has served as President of the French Republic and Co-Prince of Andorra since May 14, 2017Re-election: Macron was elected to a second term in April 2022.Term Limit: According to the French constitution, this is his final consecutive term, which is scheduled to end on May 13, 2027.  This means he will have served for the last 10 years since age 39.  He is the 25th president of France and the youngest to hold the office in the country's history.

French President Emmanuel Macron has strongly criticized social media platforms for using "free speech" as a justification to avoid transparency, calling it "pure bullshit" when opaque algorithms fuel hate speech. He advocates for "free algorithms"—fully transparent, regulated systems—over unrestricted speech that he argues threatens public order.

Calais, France, does not have a major central prison, but one is a focal point for intense, frequent police clearances of migrant camps. Migrants in the area are often held in temporary administrative detention, particularly at the Coquelles Centre de Rétention Administrative (CRA) near the Channel Tunnel, which has a 104-person capacity.

What they also have are Coquelles Detention Centre (CRA): Located near Calais, this facility detains individuals before potential deportation. It has faced complaints regarding conditions. ***Longuenesse Prison: The nearest main prison is the Longuenesse prison, located about a 45-minute drive southeast of Calais near Saint-Omer.   Migrant Situation: Police conduct operations every 48 hours to dismantle makeshift camps and seize tents/belongings, creating a revolving door of detention and displacement for migrants attempting to reach the UK.  Historical Context: The "Jungle" camp was dismantled in 2016, and current makeshift camps are often described as high-density and precarious.
