Confronting Syrian Accusations Against Israel and Netanyahu, Especially

   Here the President of Iran is riding on a rocket aimed at Israel

Bashar al-Assad (in office July 2000 – December 2024) maintained close ties with multiple Iranian presidents, primarily securing support from Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (2005–2013), Hassan Rouhani (2013–2021), and Ebrahim Raisi (2021–2024). These administrations provided critical military, political, and financial aid to Syria, especially after 2011.  It was Ahmadinejad who went crazy about Netanyahu and Jews.  Of course, what was believed in iran was believed in Syria.  

I'm finding that Syrians still believe the worst of Netanyahu and Israel even without the help of al-Jazeera.  Their President is Jolani, the former terrorist of that name, now using his own of Ahmed al-Sharaa .            


Bashar al-Assad is the former President of Syria (July 17, 2000 – December 8, 2024), who fled to Russia after his regime was overthrown. He succeeded his father, Hafez al-Assad, and ruled for 24 years before being toppled in December 2024 following 13 years of civil war.

they were bad people, so they even were at the point of blaming Jews for bad weather.  A Syrian had no way of getting books about Jews ortheir history of creating Israel, both in the ancient days or today.

The Assad regime kept information about Jews out of Syria by implementing strict surveillance, enforcing censorship, and creating a climate of fear that isolated the remaining Jewish community. Under Hafez-the father and Bashar al-Assad-the son, secret police monitored the Jewish community, and Jews were forbidden from owning phones, driving, or traveling freely. 


Can Syrians get CNN on their TV sets?  CNN International is widely available in many parts of the world, including via satellite in the Middle East, offering up-to-date global news.

 However, access to specific American channels like the domestic CNN or other US streaming apps in Syria may be restricted based on geographical IP detection, usually requiring a VPN to bypass,  A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a security tool that creates an encrypted, private tunnel for your internet traffic. It masks your actual IP address and replaces it with one from a remote server, allowing you to bypass geo-restrictions, access blocked content, and protect data privacy from hackers, ISPs, or governments.

Here's one that I'm throwing back to Syrians.  It has been found that there have been cells of terrorists taking part in the horrble attack on October 7, 2023 against Israel.

On October 7, 2023, Hamas-led militants launched a massive, surprise assault on southern Israel from the Gaza Strip, resulting in the deadliest day for Israelis since the Holocaust.  Did the Syrians hear about Casualties: More than 1,200 people were killed, including civilians and security forces, and over 4,000 were injured. The dead included 364 people at the Nova music festival and residents of over 20 towns and kibbutzim.

Did they hear about Hostages: Approximately 251 people were abducted and taken to the Gaza Strip as hostages.

  • Atrocities: Reports indicate widespread, systematic atrocities, including sexual violence, rape, mutilation, and torture, targeting civilians, including children and the elderly.

The attack, which began on the Shabbat and Simchat Torah holiday, also involved thousands of rockets fired into Israel combined with a multi-pronged ground, air, and sea infiltration by approximately 3,000 militants.

  • Aftermath: The attack triggered the "Swords of Iron" war, with Israel launching a significant military offensive in Gaza with the stated goals of rescuing the hostages and eliminating Hamas.
As of October 2025, it was reported that about 48 hostages remained in Gaza, with some feared dead. The event has led to ongoing regional conflict and deep internal divisions within Israel regarding the security failures and the management of the hostage crisis.

As of early 2025, there were approximately 9.01 million internet users in Syria. This indicates an internet penetration rate of roughly 35.8% of the population, leaving about 14.55 million people (64.2%) offline. Internet access is limited by poor infrastructure, low economic activity, and low-speed connectivity.  
  • Population Offline: Despite access, over half the population was not using the internet as of 2022 data.
  • Low Resilience: The Internet Society rates Syria's internet resilience as low (around 29% in 2024), indicating high vulnerability to outages and infrastructure challenges.
  • Growth: While access has increased from pre-2010 levels, progress is hindered by the ongoing conflict.

It was in 1983 that Lebanon signed a 
Peace pact with Israel. 
Syria signed a 1949 Armistice Agreement and a 1974 Disengagement Agreement following the Yom Kippur War, the two countries remain technically in a state of war, with the Golan Heights being the primary issue blocking a peace treaty since 1967.  Now it's also the fighting going on between Syria, who says they have lost a lot of people in the bombing, Lebanon and Israel.  Al Jazeera says it is As of early 2026, Israel is conducting military strikes in Syria primarily to establish a buffer zone, dismantle Iranian-backed infrastructure, and intervene in, or prevent, clashes between local communities and former government factions in the south. Recent strikes specifically aimed to prevent sectarian violence near the Golan Heights.
Palestinians in Syria: Over 450,000 Palestinian refugees remained in Syria as of 2017, with many living in areas impacted by the Syrian civil war.
  • Historical Ties: Syria served as a key sponsor and host for Hamas’s exiled leadership starting in the early 2000s.
  • Growing Tension over Security (Late 2025): By late 2025, Netanyahu's tone towards Al-Sharaa grew colder. In November 2025, Netanyahu told his security cabinet that Al-Sharaa was acting "full of himself" after returning from a trip to Washington and that he was engaging in actions that Israel "won't accept".
  • Military Interference (2025-2026): Israel has continued to conduct airstrikes in Syria to block weapon transfers and monitor the new regime’s activities.
  • A "Necessary Evil" Context: Although there was speculation about potential normalization in the early days of the regime change, by mid-2025, reports indicated high tension, with Netanyahu insisting on maintaining the ability to strike targets in Syria to manage the security risks posed by the new leadership's consolidation of power.
Netanyahu has maintained a pragmatic stance, balancing the elimination of Iranian influence in Syria with a deep distrust of the Islamist leadership under Al-Sharaa.
