The UN has been going against Israel since Israel's inception in 1948. Their latest act was to demand a permanent ceasefire to take place in Gaza, which meant to stop Israel's advance in winning the war against the murderous Hamas terrorists. Attacks by Hamas had multiplied since 1967 when Israel won a war after being attacked by multiple Muslim countries who actually ganged up in a giant attack on her. Not only did Israel win, but she did it in 6 days!
Then Israel was taken back during the Yom Kippur war. On October 6, 1973, an Arab coalition of Egyptian and Syrian forces launched a surprise attack on Israel on Yom Kippur—the Jewish holy day of atonement. The majority of Jews were in synagogues with all day praying, asking for forgiveness of any sins with promises of improvement. This war lasted 3 weeks. Israel won this as well.
It seems that the Arabs had no forgiveness in their souls of Jews returning to their homeland after being threatened to stay away from it by the Romans in 70 CE. Since G-d had told Jews that the land from the twin rivers to the Nile was to be filled with Abraham's children, they felt the pull back to where they belonged, as they felt they certainly didn't belong in Europe or any other place.
The UN members are made up of all these strong-minded Arab countries as well as misunderstanding Europeans who have no concept of what is going on in the Middle East, nor ever understood, for that matter, in my opinion. Their greed of wanting the oil on this contested land takes first place in their minds; thus getting a war ended. They see children die-which to all feel this is horrible, but misread the cause, even with Jews providing the explanation of the shrewd acts of Hamas that gain them love and Israel hate. War is now being fought in ways distant from guns of all sizes as well as with missiles and drones.
The U.S. was on the side of Israel. The U.S. vetoed a UN Security Council resolution demanding a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, the release of all hostages and the supply of humanitarian aid. The Security Council members that supported the proposal are: China, France, Russia, Britain, Algeria, Sierra Leone, Mozambique, South Korea, Japan, Guyana, Ecuador, Slovenia, Malta and Switzerland. Acting US Ambassador to the United Nations Dorothy Shea defended the veto saying, “The United States supports Israel’s right to defend itself and defeat Hamas so that it can never again pose a threat. Our opposition to this resolution should not come as a surprise. The U.S. has made clear it will not support any effort that fails to condemn Hamas. We cannot allow the Council to reward terrorism.” She concluded with, “Let us instead demand that Hamas surrender and leave Gaza for good. A real agreement—one that frees the hostages, brings about a ceasefire, and allows Palestinians to break free from Hamas—is what we must aim for.”
Perhaps the Gazans have come to the same conclusion, but we must remember that it was they who voted in Hamas in the first place. That vote has brought them only death and destruction of any life as they could have had. It was their going along with hatred for Jews that got them in such a pickle in the first place. What is that old Biblical saying? G-d will reward those who help Jews and the opposite will happen to those others? Oh yes, G-d said, " “I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse” (Gen. 12:1–3). The Gazans today certainly look like they've been cursed.
The UN Security Council should become less antagonistic towards Israel when 5 new countries, which are more favorable to Israel, replace 5 antagonistic ones in the council in January. Algeria, Guyana, Slovenia -- all hostile towards Israel -- along with South Korea and Sierre Leone will be replaced by Colombia, Liberia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Latvia and Bahrain.
