Jews defending themselves, called the Haganah against attack by Palestinian Arabs and occasional British soldiers who kept putting them in prisonHaganah, (Hebrew: “Defense”), Zionist military organization representing the majority of the Jews in Palestine from 1920 to 1948. Organized to combat the revolts of Palestinian Arabs against the Jewish settlement of Palestine. Tel Aviv, created by April 11, 1909 by the Jews while under the British Mandate. Jerusalem, built by King Saul (b: c. 1190 BCE), 1st king of Israel, from Jewish tribe of Benjamin, son of Kish; capital of Israel, holy city of Israel containing 1st and 2nd Temple of Solomon,
David Ben Gurion, PRESIDENT in picture -War of Independence concluded with birth of a nation, ISRAEL !!!Israel was created on May 4, 1948. It was the end of conditions and meetings that started before World War I ended, in the 1920s. It was the Jewish hope and dream of re-establishing their land lost to the Romans in 70CE. The British held the mandate for 30 years before letting the land be in Jewish hands once again. They left, boarding their trains, and the Arabs attacked a minute later.
Arabs had a meeting in Cairo in 1964. After concluding the meeting, the PLO was founded on 2 June 1964. Its stated "complementary goals" were Arab unity and the liberation of Palestine from the Jews.
The PLO began their militancy campaign from its inception with an attack on Israel's National Water Carrier in January 1965. The group used guerrilla tactics to attack Israel from their bases in Jordan (which then included the Judea/Samaria - West Bank), Lebanon, Egypt (Gaza Strip), and Syria.)
HAMAS formed in late 1987 at the beginning of the first Palestinian intifada (uprising). Its roots are in the Palestinian branch of the
What is the Muslim Brotherhood that Egypt disliked? The movement's self-stated aim is the establishment of a state ruled by sharia law under a caliphate–its most famous slogan is "Islam is the solution". They provided a lot of charity in order to be recognized and desirable. The group spread to other Muslim countries but still has one of its largest organizations in Egypt, despite a succession of government crackdowns since 1948. It remained a fringe group in the politics of the Arab World until the 1967 Six-Day War, when Islamism managed to replace popular secular Arab nationalism after a resounding Arab defeat by Israel.
An undated photo released by the Israel Defense Forces on January 6, 2024, shows Muhammad Deif (R), the commander of the Hamas terror group's military wing. (Israel Defense Forces)They were the fighters of Fatah, created by Yasser Arafat. Hamas is the Islamic Resistance Movement, abbreviated Hamas, a Palestinian nationalist Sunni Islamist political organization with a military wing, the Qassam Brigades. It has governed the Israeli-occupied Gaza Strip since 2007. Led by Mohammed Deif until his death on 13 July 2024, the Al-Qassam Brigades is the largest and best-equipped militia operating within the Gaza Strip in recent years. Created in mid-1991, it was at the time concerned with blocking the Oslo Accords negotiations. From 1994 to 2000, the Al-Qassam Brigades has claimed responsibility for carrying out a number of attacks against Israelis.
Gaza belonged to Israel who gave it to the Palestinians in 1993.
During the Six-Day War, in 1967, Israeli forces occupied the Gaza Strip, and in 1970 Israel built the first Israeli settlement in the territory. By 2005 the Gaza Strip had 21 Israeli settlements and about 9,000 Israeli settlers compared with about 1.3 million Palestinians living in the territory.
Meanwhile, in 1993 Israel and Arafat's Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) had agreed to a framework for Palestinian self-governance in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank (see Oslo Accords).
As part of that peace process, Israeli forces withdrew from the city of Gaza in 1994 (as well as from the Judea/Samaria city of Jericho) and transferred civilian functions for the city to the newly created Palestinian Authority (PA).
In June 2007, Hamas fighters took control of the Gaza Strip and removed all Fatah officials. President Abbas, on 14 June, 2007, declared a state of emergency, dismissed Haniyeh's national unity government and appointed an emergency government, and suspended articles of the Basic Law to circumvent the needed PNC approval.
On June 4, 2009 in Cairo, Egypt, President Obama proposed a new beginning between the United States and Muslims around the world, based upon mutual interest and mutual respect in his speech to his audience. Specifically, the President said that the U.S. would seek a more comprehensive engagement with Muslim-majority countries, countries with significant Muslim populations, and their people by expanding partnerships in areas like education, economic development, science and technology, and health, among others, while continuing to work together to address issues of common concern. Since the President’s speech, the Administration remains committed to confronting common challenges and seizing shared opportunities. This came at a time when Hamas terrorism was in its creation, ready to take over Fatah.
Hamas has attacked Israel since 2009 every year till the October 7, 2023 surprise attack. Over the course of 2009, 569 rockets and 289 mortars (a total of 858) were fired from the Gaza Strip into Israel, in comparison to 2,048 rockets in 2008. Out of these, 406 were fired during the Gaza War, which ended on 18 January, and 160 were fired during the rest of the year.
Hamas tunnels for receiving ammunition and Israeli hostagesIn the early hours of October 7, 2023, Hamas militants launched a brutal air and ground assault in Israel, killing more than 1,200 people and taking 250 hostages, according to Israeli authorities. Within hours of the terror attack, Israel struck back and has since mounted an all-out war against Hamas that has claimed more than 40,000 Palestinian lives in Gaza over the course of the past year, according to Gaza's Ministry of Health.
Hamas rulers over PalestiniansAfter more than three decades of Israeli restrictions on the flow of both people and goods into and out of Gaza, because they would sneak in ammunition to use against Israel, Palestinians in the enclave were already suffering from chronic shortages of food, clean water, electricity, medicine and housing while under their own Hamas rulers. Many lived in refugee camps after experiencing generations of displacement, also something Hamas had ordered.
Cities such as Portland, Oregon have been doing this: PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Around the world, people gathered to mark the one-year anniversary of the Hamas attack inside Israel that killed 1200 people and turned scores of people into hostages.
That set off what Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden said was a mushrooming conflict in the Middle East, as Israel continues to attack inside Gaza and now in part of Lebanon.
In this past year, more than 41,000 people have been killed in Gaza.
Monday evening, about 80 people joined the ‘PDX for Palestine’ rally at Sewallcrest Park on SE 31st. Several people spoke before the group marched down Southeast Hawthorne. The overriding sentiment from those at the rally was to remind people about what is going on in the Middle East and to get the US government to stop funding Israel.
Oh yes, blame Israel, for sure!!! Blame Israel because it is a Jewish state!!!!!After all, they have 6 million Jews living there compared to the Palestinians who only have 48 other states to live in.
In Israel proper, Palestinians constitute almost 21% of the population as part of its Arab citizens. Many are Palestinian refugees or internally displaced Palestinians, including over 1.4 million in the Gaza Strip, over 870,000 in Judea/Samaria, and around 250,000 in Israel proper. Of the Palestinian population who live abroad, known as the Palestinian diaspora, more than half are stateless, lacking legal citizenship in any country.
Israel was created again by Jews without their homeland for 2,000 years. They have one country that in the process, lost 80% of the land taken through British politics with Abdullah of Arabia, then another 10%, now down to the only 10% left and have to fight to keep that much,
That is what their leadership desires for the Palestinian way of fighting
against Israel; that and allowing each man to have 4 wives to produce many children; 2.3 million of the diaspora population are registered as refugees in neighboring Jordan, most of whom hold Jordanian citizenship; over 1 million live between Syria and Lebanon, and about 750,000 live in Saudi Arabia, with Chile holding the largest Palestinian diaspora concentration (around half a million)
All the marches of civilians screaming for freedom for Gazans show complete lack of knowledge as to what's been going on that Israel has had to put up with; people who hate them for wanting to live. That's what they're demonstrating to me, a Jew with dual citizenship.
People who lack the knowledge, the education, just listening to gossip of the media which vies to get attention to enhance their pockets will someday find out the truth and castigate themselves for being so idiotic; I hope!!!
