I just heard Shahar Peled speak on JBS in his interview. He is a 30 year old Israeli elite paratrooper commander reservist who was in IDF 10 years ago, he told Shahar Azani of "Israel At War" on JBS, now very well known as a speaker for Israel. On Linked in he says "Ex CEO. PLG enthusiast, GTM specialist, Operations and Business Development focused. Tech and data-driven, idea to execution, ‘all-around’ player. Entrepreneur, public diplomat, former Israel’s representative to China and NYC. Seasoned public speaker. He was to get married in 6 days when he got the news on his cell phone to report for duty on October 7th. He did, and noticed that somehow, the call was different. They are used to missile attacks every day, which is a crime in itself that communities were used to such things, like rain and a possible death from it all, but these were different. Then he saw as he was driving to his unit one and a half hours away, why. He saw complete and utter destruction, bodies of a surreal landscape. the odor struck him that was something we do not have to experience watching TV news. It's the smell of death, which struck him. One cannot imagine the horror that these terrorists, worse killers than ISIS or even Nazis to perform the atrocities he told of.
Joining up with his men, no one spoke. Everyone was in shock. He hopes he doesn't lose anymore friends on his invitation list for his wedding, which has been postponed at an unknown date. He's lost enough friends now.
Shahar has already been wounded enough to have just been in the hospital, but was able to be with JBS. I was so touched by his description.
He gave his view of what causes people to side with such utter evil people backing Palestinians and hating Israelis or Jews that much, and the 4th reason was that most people side with the weaker side. Israel, though very small, cannot be weak. As he parroted Golda Meir, if we lay down our arms there will be no Israel. If Hamas lays down their arms there will be peace. People see Israel as being very strong, so must be the bad side.
However, he sees leaders of countries viewing the situation realistically, though not their people who are demonstrating for the Palestinians and are against Israel.
I didn't take notes on this interview, thought I'd never forget what all he said. He is a great representative of all the Israelis; the very best. No wonder he's a commander. May G-d protect him in this war. Here's what I heard:
