He's concerned about the body of the man who starved himself to death, Khader Adnan, and what has happened to it. Jews and Arabs believe in a fast burial-Jews within the first 24 hours. Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh said that his group told the mediators who brokered the ceasefire that Israel must hand over senior Palestinian Islamic Jihad official Khader Adnan’s body to his family in the town of Arrabeh, near Jenin, for burial. Haniyeh did not say whether Israel had accepted the demand as part of the ceasefire deal. With all the rockets falling into Israel and the need to run to a bomb shelter; who knows?Khader Adnan Mohammad Musa 24 March 1978 – 2 May 2023) was a 45 year old Palestinian activist and prisoner in Israel who died after an 87-day hunger strike in protest of his detention without trial. By the time of his death, he had been arrested 12 times by Israel. He became prominent as a figure after a 66-day hunger strike in 2011 that led to a mass hunger strike among Palestinian prisoners and his ultimate release.
In the early 2000s, Adnan was a spokesman for the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine (PIJ), which is designated a terrorist organization by a number of countries. Although he had been convicted in the past for being a member of the group, his wife claimed in 2012 that he had not been involved with PIJ for four years, and never had any role in militant activities.
The thin strip of land making up central Israel: Rehovot is there
Within the past 5 days of rocket fire into Israel, the woman killed by rocket fire was helping her paralyzed husband reach shelter, says her grandson. Inga Avramyan, 80, crushed by ceiling when projectile slammed into their Rehovot home; grandson says she cared for husband injured in car accident: ‘Don’t know what he’ll do without her.’ A senior would be the most in danger of running to a bomb shelter as that's what people must do. The warning, being Israelis are so close to their enemy, gives them a matter of seconds to get to shelter.
After 5 days of fighting, Israel agreed to a truce with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) early Sunday morning. In total, 1,139 rockets were fired into Israel and over 430 were intercepted. Most of the rest fell in open areas. The Iron Dome had a 95% success rate. The IDF struck 422 PIJ targets and eliminated at least 4 high ranking PIJ commanders. One Israeli woman and one Palestinian laborer were killed by the rocket fire. Over a dozen Israelis were injured. [Can you imagine the US agreeing to a truce with Al Qaida or ISIS?]
The PIJ are the Palestinian Islamic Jihad that was founded in 1979, the year before I made aliyah. They were living in Judea-Samaria and Gaza. They were sponsored by Iran and Syria and that is true today.
As we have seen, they are radical Islamists and nationalists, committed to the "creation of an Islamic Palestinian state out of the whole of Israel. They plan on destroying Israel through their "holy" war." They oppose pro-----western and Arab governments, which probably includes Egypt.
President of Egypt: Abdel Fattah el SisiEgypt is Israel's neighbor. "The United States commends Egypt’s crucial role in mediating the ceasefire agreement, which will prevent the further loss of civilian lives. We also recognize Qatar’s robust efforts to de-escalate the situation and end the hostilities, as well as the international community’s support for the ceasefire. Our team worked tirelessly in cooperation with our partners to support these efforts."
Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, who served as Defence Minister under Morsi's presidency and retained his post after Morsi's removal from office, permanently retired from the Egyptian Armed Forces in 2014 and then went on to win the 2014 presidential election, being sworn in as president on 8 June 2014. He was later re-elected to a second term in 2018 after winning the 2018 presidential election. In April 2019, Egypt's parliament extended presidential terms from four to six years. President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi was also allowed to run for third term in next election in 2024.

Jerusalem Post reported that The sources said the unofficial ceasefire, which went into effect at 4:00 a.m. Wednesday has reached thanks to mediation efforts by Egyptian and Qatari officials after the Palestinian factions launched dozens of rockets at Israel in response to the death of senior Palestinian Islamic Jihad official Khader Adnan in Israeli custody on Tuesday after an 86-day hunger strike. The man refused all food Israel offered who did not want him to die.
Al Jazeera reports that Israeli officials have told media that Egyptian-led efforts to broker a cease-fire were still under way, but that Israel has ruled out the conditions presented by Palestinian Islamic Jihad in the talks. Israel has said only that quiet will be answered with quiet, while Islamic Jihad has been demanding a halt to assassinations of its members. Israel’s military chief, Herzi Halevi, said Israel had made “significant achievements” throughout the fighting and that Islamic Jihad’s continued fire “enables us to continue to make further achievements”. “We are prepared to continue the targeted strikes and striking in a precise and increasing manner,” he added.
I suppose no one considers the shooting of 1,139 rockets into Israel a war, as "“The Egyptians and Qataris exerted heavy pressure on Hamas and Islamic Jihad to avoid all-out war,” the sources said. “The Egyptians, Qataris and other mediators relayed messages to Hamas and Islamic Jihad to the effect that Israel does not want another war. They also warned them that a new war would have disastrous consequences on the residents of the Gaza Strip.” The fact through all of this is that Israel's people were in bomb shelters, hopefully, and that Israel was not reacting other than the use of the Iron Dome and David's Sling for defensive measures. Israel has the ability to pin-point a target; don't know if they used that or not.
There were many Palestinians in Israel at the time of rockets entering Israel, people there for work purposes. That's how one of them was killed.
