Sharing Gregory Meeks, US Rep.'s Brilliant Words of Today

 Nadene Goldfoot

There are a total of 535 Members of Congress. 100 serve in the U.S. Senate and 435 serve in the U.S. House of Representatives.  Members of the House of Representatives serve two-year terms and are considered for reelection every even year.

One of many of the United State's 435 Representatives, a Democrat of the 5th district in New York, was interviewed by ABC today and said something so brilliant that I have to share it. He is one of their "characters,' I would say, coming with quite a bad reputation to be asked about judging if a person should be fired or not.  Gregory Weldon Meeks (born September 25, 1953) age 71, denies his reputation, but the fact is that Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) named Meeks one of the most corrupt members of Congress in 2011. It was subsequently reported that his continuing ethical and criminal probes would cause his premature exit from Congress.

He had walked out on Netanyahu's speech.  After acting against Netanyahu, he had the chutzpa to get his picture taken with him:  Meeks with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Israel, November 12, 2023.  Had the tides changed? Or more like following the majority, like so many do.

I'm not proud of or happy with him as back on March 3, 2015, Meeks participated with fellow Democrats in a boycott of the speech delivered by Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Congress. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel used one of the most prominent platforms in the world on Tuesday to warn against what he called a “bad deal” being negotiated with Iran to freeze its nuclear program, bringing to a culmination a drama that has roiled Israeli-American relations for weeks. That may have been the one in the UN where all the Democrats walked out when Netanyahu spoke and showed the graph about how near Iran was to having nuclear power.

ABC's interview was about the shocking email telling of the plans of attacking Yemen by the USA that inadvertently or not was shared with a journalist. He was asked if the man responsible should be fired or not.

He responded with something like, They cannot read!  Of course, he continued, "this was information not even shared with congress members.  Yes, he should be fired !  Democratic Congressman Gregory Meeks tells Wolf Blitzer why he says Trump administration officials "absolutely lied" to the House and Senate Intelligence Committees about the leaked Signal chat messages. Musk’s Pentagon meeting is a ‘national security risk,’ wrote MSNBC.  Hegseth bragged about restoring meritocracy and competence to the Pentagon. In less than 100 days, he has done the opposite. It is time for Congress to investigate why the defense secretary of the world’s most powerful military risked the lives of our U.S. service members, all for the convenience of a group chat.

The Trump administration is under scrutiny after The Atlantic editor Jeffrey Goldberg said he was inadvertently added to a Signal group chat that included top national security officials, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, in which the officials discussed plans for a U.S. attack on Houthis in Yemen.

Meeks hasn't always done things right, and for that, was criticized, but it wasn't like exposing secrets that could cause our soldiers any deaths. He was for firing Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

Signal was not an approved email process.  A lawsuit -- "which names Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and the National Archives as defendants -- asked a federal judge to declare the use of Signal unlawful and order the cabinet members to preserve the records immediately, as Signal's deleting of messages violates governmental record-keeping requirements."

"The use of the Signal group chat was revealed Monday by The Atlantic Editor-in-Chief Jeffrey Goldberg, who said he was inadvertently added to the chat as top national security officials, including Hegseth and National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, were discussing the military operation."

Who is Pete Hegseth?  Hegseth, 44, is mostly known for his eight years on Fox News where he is a commentator for major programs and the host of multiple ongoing series.  Per his website biography, which describes him as a "husband, father, patriot and a Christian," Hegseth served as an infantry officer in the Army National Guard, serving in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Guantanamo Bay. Hegseth also served as CEO for Concerned Veterans for America.  He and his family have been living in Tennessee.

The secretary of defense is a Level I position in the Executive Schedule, thus earning a salary of US$246,400, as of October 2024.  I hope that's not a monthly salary.  Considering what it costs to live in assisted living, I wouldn't be surprised at anything!

In the past, Trump has found firing easy, as he had a show on TV called The Apprentice that judged the business skills of a group of contestants. It ran in various formats across fifteen seasons on NBC from 2004 to 2017. "The Ultimate Job Interview", seven of the show's seasons featured aspiring, but otherwise unknown, businesspeople who would vie for the show's prize, a one-year $250,000 starting contract to promote one of Donald Trump's properties.

The Growing Squad Against Israel With Bill To Block An Arms Sale

 Nadene Goldfoot

A good reason to dislike the Democrat's "The Squad", is the bill trying to get passed against Israel's survival abilities.  The Squad was originally made up of  four women elected in the 2018 United States House of Representatives elections: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan.  They are continuously against Israel.   They are going against the stand that the USA had taken before their arrival, of being a good friend of Israel. They are representatives with their own agendas of hatreds, not ones that supposedly are to work with the USA.

                                        Pamela Jayapal

 Cori Bush
                             Betty McCollum with friends

                                    Mark Pocan

The Squad, all 4 reelected by their neighborhoods. They've added 5 Democrats to this anti-Israel bill.

A group of progressive House Democrats led by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) introduced a resolution  on a Wednesday, May 19, 2021,  aimed at blocking a $735 million arms sale to Israel.  In addition to Ocasio-Cortez, the effort is being led by Reps. Mark Pocan (D-Wis.) and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.). Other co-sponsors include Democratic Reps. Cori Bush (Mo.), Betty McCollum (Minn.), Ayanna Pressley (Mass.), Ilhan Omar (Minn.), Pramila Jayapal (Wash.) and AndrĂ© Carson (Ind.).
All 4 of the squad members are involved in this bill along with added others.

A day before a cease-fire was declared on May 20, Democratic Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.), Mark Pocan (Wis.), and Rashida Tlaib (Mich.) introduced a House joint resolution of disapproval for the sale. “Approving this sale now, while failing to even try to use it as leverage for a ceasefire, sends a clear message to the world—the U.S. is not interested in peace, and does not care about the human rights and lives of Palestinians,” Ocasio-Cortez said in a press statement.  This sounds like a statement from  an enemy from Iraq, not an American Representative.

The next day, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) introduced a similar resolution in the Senate. It marked the end of a 15-day review period during which lawmakers could take action to block the administration from issuing licenses for the deals.  Bernie, our own self-hating Jew, taking his usual stand against Israel to be on the Palestinian side for G-d knows why, considering who he is. He's been consistent, that's for sure. He stepped outside his faith and education a long time ago, certainly unschooled in the history of Israel and all they have tried to do to help Palestinians from the time of working with Emir Feisal in the 1920s  or even before. It was the Sherif of Jerusalem, otherwise known as Haj Amin al-Husseini, who turned the Palestinians against Jews so much with riots in 1929, etc. Since then, it's been a hard row to hoe.
State House of Representatives

According to news reports, the State Department issued those licenses on May 21. No vote is now expected on these particular resolutions. But at any point until delivery, expected to Israel next year, Congress could pass legislation blocking arms sales. When told on May 21 that the sales had already been licensed, Sanders put a hold on all State Department nominees. He lifted the hold after the administration committed to providing humanitarian aid for Gaza. Sanders’ office told Arms Control Today on May 25 that Sanders and his colleagues “would continue to push for greater debate to make sure that U.S. arms sales do not support human rights abuses.”

Sanders, it is wrong in your mind to defend yourself when attacked?  That's the situation with Israel.  They are always on the defensive; not the offensive.  Can you not see the difference?  It's only now that 4 nations have made peace with Israel of late with the Abraham Accords, that give us hope and see light at the end of the tunnel.  They see the difference, and they are Arab States.  Let us not forget Egypt and Jordan who also keep peace with Israel since 1973's war, Egypt leading with Syria.  The ones being abused here is Israel !  Israel is now 73 years old.  It's time Palestinians accept her return to the neighborhood.

September 15th, 2020, leaders from Bahrain, Israel, the United Arab Emirates signed the Abraham Accords. A few months later, on December 10th, Israel and Morocco also signed a normalization agreement. They are celebrating their 1 year anniversary.

Bennett invited Biden to visit Israel.  The USA teams have criticized Israel for its heavy handiness in defending themselves against the Palestinians.  They haven't stopped to consider the heavy handiness of the Palestinians against Israel because they have been the ones without a state.  The Palestinians are always the ones attacking Jews or Israel first and have been since 1967's meeting in Africa with the other Muslim states when they all swore No No No! Others have seen this was futile and unfair but not them.  To this day, they are still shooting rockets into Israel across the border.

Public statements from the White House on calls between President Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have become increasingly more stern, with a statement Wednesday saying Biden told Netanyahu he expects a “significant de-escalation” in the violence between Israel and Hamas by Wednesday to put the two sides "on the path to a cease-fire.”  This from June 2021, and Biden's still blaming Netanyahu. In June 2021, after Naftali Bennett formed a government with Yair Lapid, Netanyahu was removed from the premiership, becoming Leader of the Opposition for the third time.

11 Days of a rocket Attack by Hamas Terrorists

An outbreak of violence in the ongoing Israeli–Palestinian conflict commenced on 10 May 2021, though disturbances took place earlier, and continued until a ceasefire came into effect on 21 May. It was marked by protests and police riot control, rocket attacks on Israel by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and Israeli airstrikes targeting the Gaza Strip. The crisis was triggered on 6 May, when Palestinians began protests in East Jerusalem over an anticipated decision of the Supreme Court of Israel on the eviction of six Palestinian families in Sheikh Jarrah. Under international law, the area, effectively annexed by Israel, is a part of the occupied Palestinian territories. Israel applies its laws there. Jerusalem is unified as one city, all under the same rules.  On 7 May, according to Israel's Channel 12, Palestinians threw stones at Israeli police forces, who then stormed the compound of the al-Aqsa Mosque using tear gas, rubber bullets and stun grenades. The crisis prompted protests around the world and reactions from world leaders.

Aug. 5, 2021, at 9:48 a.m. TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — Israel on Thursday escalated its response to rocket attacks the previous day from Lebanon by launching rare airstrikes on its northern neighbor, the army and Lebanese officials said. ... The United States swiftly condemned the attacks on Israel   The overnight airstrikes in southern Lebanon were a marked escalation at a politically sensitive time. Israel's new eight-party governing coalition is trying to keep peace under a fragile cease-fire that ended an 11-day war with Hamas' militant rulers in Gaza in May. Several incidents leading up to this week's rocket fire from Lebanon have focused attention on Israel's northern border. The United States swiftly condemned the attacks on Israel.

But progressive Democrats have been looking for a more explicit demand from Biden for a cease-fire.

Update: 8pm EST: The squad did it.  A bill was in the way of giving Israel funds for the Iron Dome.  During the 11 day attack, 1,500 rockets rained down on Israel but the Iron Dome stopped 1,400 of them.  Ortega is against Israeli survival, I suppose.  from Watchman on TV, WASHINGTON ― Senate Democrats are discussing whether to pair new funding for Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system with aid for the Palestinians after $1 billon for the system was cut from a stopgap spending patch that passed the House on Tuesday.https://www.defensenews.com/congress/2021/09/22/lawmakers-consider-linking-iron-dome-with-palestinian-aid-in-continuing-resolution/

Obama Administration Broke the Law According to House of Representatives Over Iran Deal

Nadene Goldfoot

The USA House of Representatives is not asleep!  They just voted and won the vote by 245 to 186 to declare that the Obama administration has broken the United States laws by not giving Congress access to the side agreements between the IAEA and Iran.

Susan Rice (November 17, 1964)Rice is a former U.S. diplomat, former Brookings Institution fellow, and former United States Ambassador to the United Nations. Rice served on the staff of the National Security Council, and as Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs during President Bill Clinton's second term. Rice was confirmed as UN ambassador by the U.S. Senate by unanimous consent on January 22, 2009.
An article came out on  July 22, 2015 that National security adviser Susan Rice acknowledged the existence of side agreements between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency and said that the deals involved Iran accounting for past military uses of its nuclear program, but rejected GOP (Republican) assertions that this represented "secret" side deals to the Iranian nuclear agreement.

Any deal made with Iran and not shared with Congress has been held as secret.  That's the problem.

This is a requirement under the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015.  The House of Representatives are taking the necessary action against the Obama administration for failing to provide the texts of the side agreements between the IAEA and Iran.

Two hours after the Senate moved to block a resolution of disapproval of the Iran nuclear deal which was being solicited by people like myself in asking our Senators to vote for cloture to allow the Senate to vote on the resolution of disapproval of the Iranian nuclear deal,  the House passed Resolution 411 by a vote of 245 to 186.

Congress members said that they haven't been allowed to see the text of the agreements between the IAEA and Iran governing the protocols for nuclear inspections. Congress is made of 2 parts, the Senate and the House of Representatives.  We have 2 Senators from each of our 50 states, making 100 people.  The Representatives number 435, at least 1 from each state and more depending on the population of each state.  None had seen this imperative piece of information vitally needed to make an intelligent decision on this life or death deal concerning the USA's security.

The media feels the Obama administration has not read these agreements, either, and one wonders if John Kerry has even read them besides just being only aware of their general content.  Shocking details have emerged, such as that :

Parchin questionable contamination box testing??? What's going on here?
1. Iran will be responsible for collecting their own soil samples for testing by the IAEA.
2. Iran leaders are emphatic that they will not give inspectors access to conventional military sites where nuclear activity is suspected of already taking place.

Why hasn't the Obama administration been making these facts public?  This causes the fear that other elements may also be secret so that the public cannot see them, said Senator Tom Cotton, Republican from Arkansas?  That causes me to ask why the Democrats are so afraid to think freely about such things?  Why has it become a political hot potato?   Are Democrats going to be protected in case of being attacked on USA soil and the Republicans not?  What is going on in the minds of our government?  Do ALL Democrats decide with blind faith only without checking on important matters?  Almost.

Bushehr Nuclear PlantThe Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant is a nuclear power plant in Iran 17 kilometres southeast of the city of Bushehr, between the fishing villages of Halileh and Bandargeh along the Persian Gulf.
Congress is supposed to review the Iran nuclear deal which lifts sanctions on Tehran in exchange for its concessions on its nuclear program.  Obama has hailed the deal as a major win for the USA that will keep Tehran from getting nuclear weapons, yet Tehran is also claiming a big win for its side.  How can this be a big Win Win? Obama thinks this will make the Middle Eastern states are planning on having to do the same thing, go nuclear to defend themselves from Iran, which is not an Arab country, but is a different line of Islam, being Shi'a and not Sunni, like the Middle East. The USA debaters led by John Kerry  feel it was worth the exchange for its concessions on Iran's nuclear program.

Critics are arguing that it does too little to prevent Iranian aggression and that it will leave Israel and the USA exposed to nuclear attacks, especially since that's what Iran keeps on threatening to do.

Rice is not happy hearing these comments.  She's now afraid the deal can be undermined.  She said it has not been a secret that Iran and the IAEA were negotiating an agreement on military and nuclear activities, and that's it's an old issue between them and a sticking point in the talks.  WELL, I GUESS!!! EXTREMELY STICKY!!!  Are we allowing them to have nuclear weapons to use on Israel as they keep announcing?  This is why Netanyahu has been so worried.  Besides, that, the $150 billion given to them will be used to buy weapons to use by terrorists, you can bet your bottom dollar on that!

Obama's top national security adviser who took office on October 8th, 2010, Susan Rice, said that all components of the deal negotiated have been shared with Congress.  Now they learn there have been secrets.  That is not being transparent as promised.

Iran agreed to talk about their military parts of their nuclear program and which should include facts about doing Israel in with their threats, including their statements of the USA being the BIG SATAN and Israel being THE LITTLE SATAN.

Iran made a deal with the IAEA on inspections at the PARCHIN MILITARY BASE, ONE OF THE MOST SENSITIVE SITES DISCUSSED IN THE INTERNATIONAL TALKS. WHAT WAS THIS DEAL?

Bob Corker, Republican from Tennessee and Ben Cardin, Democrat from Maryland, wrote a letter to John Kerry and asked for documents related to the deals to be given to Congressmen.  Lawmakers have 60 days to review the agreement before voting on whether to approve or reject the Iran deal which should be coming up on September 17th.

Where is John Kerry?  He's with Treasurer Secretary Jack Lew and Ernest Moniz on Capitol Hill Wednesday holding classified briefings for members, most likely still pushing to accept the deal.  .
