Enemies of Iran and It's Tentacles: Big Satan and Little Satan

 Nadene Goldfoot

We are witnesses to this!  One of the littlest states in the world, Israel, standing up to the most important and one of the largest states in the world to their conditions of appeasement and misplaced trust of others, the United States, and coming out with the most  successful outcomes said  to happen way back in the past few thousand years.

David (Israel) standing up to Biden (USA) on ceasefire conditions

Yet Iran calls us the Little Satan and the United States as the Big Satan.  Israel is roughly the size of the US state of New Jersey. Israel is a small country in the Middle East, covering an area of 8,522 square miles.  The population today is about 9 million with 20% being non-Jews.  That's about the same as New Jersey.

PM Netanyahu explaining in the UN in September 2012, about the danger of Iran's uranium goals to wipe out Israel that the USA had walked out on for lunch engagements, causing UN to ignore.  It's been 12 years since then and we see that Israel is fighting against 7 fronts of Iran's tentacles who are still trying to wipe out this tiny state holding 6 million Jews once again since the time when Hitler tried to do it.

And what's happened since then?  The UN and all the world's country's except the USA have warrants against Netanyahu who is facing their arrests who has been the defender of his country's demise.  This 2nd Ayatollah wants him killed!  It's nonsense in a crazy upside-down world.  The 8 million other Jews in the world are aghast at the events, facing anti-Semitism at the highest level, about as high as it was in 1939 in Germany for many already.

It is amazing that Benjamin Netanyahu, loved, our leader, then hated and cursed, has stood with his internal love for Israel and hasn't given up fighting for it.  When the chips have been down, we've had Bibi standing as our father, our leader, trusting in his religion and his people,, knowing we could pull together and survive.

                                               Iran's leadership, the first Ayatollah

The Israeli prime minister addressed the UN general assembly, urging the international community to halt Iran's nuclear programme. (Reuters)

When a senior Israeli official told Reuters that Binyamin Netanyahu would be drawing a red line on Iran's nuclear program, he was not kidding.

Speaking at the United Nations general assembly in New York in 2012, the Israeli prime minister unfolded a chart with a cartoon-style drawing of a nuclear bomb, and proceeded to draw on it with a red magic-marker.

"This is a bomb," he says. "This is a fuse." The chamber was almost empty when Bibi spoke. I'll never forget the feeling in my stomach when this happened.

Ethiopian Jewish IDF soldier guarding Israel, the in-gathering of Jews has been taking place;  coming from countries attacking their very lives for being Jewish.   The first "legal" group of Ethiopian Jews to enter Israel was in August 1977, when 122 Ethiopians arrived through the "front door". 1979–1983  Aliyah activists and Mossad agents in Sudan called on the Beta Israel to come to Sudan, where they were eventually taken to Israel.  On the 24th of May 1991, a Guinness world record was broken for the most passengers on an aircraft ever. The record was broken during a daring Israeli operation, the evacuation of Ethiopian Jews from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This operation called Operation Solomon continued non-stop for 36 hours and included 34 jumbo jets of the Israeli air force, hundreds of soldiers and the evacuation of 14,200 Jews to their promised land.

Now, this minute, Israel has committed to a cease fire that Biden of USA has put together to be a permanent event.  It is on condition that the Hezbollah terrorists abide by it and show no attempt at starting the fight again under any circumstances, or Israel, who will be monitoring , will react in kind by putting an end to it.

That's been the problem with other cease fires;  nobody has had the spine to prevent the enemies from ignoring the rules and breaking them.

With Israel, this is a life or death situation.  With the UN and other countries, it is a boring tiresome period that interferes with their travel plans.  It doesn't take but a Ho Hum from the world to forget and join the more powerful; but this time they have been defending Iran in the fight against wiping out Israel's existence.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo stands with Sudanese Gen. Abdel-Fattah Burhan, the head of the ruling sovereign council, in Khartoum, Sudan, Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2020. Pompeo is the most senior U.S. official to visit the African country since last year’s ouster of its autocratic leader, Omar al-Bashir. Pompeo’s visit Tuesday is meant to discuss the normalization of ties between Sudan and Israel and also show U.S. support for the country’s fragile transition to democracy. (Sudanese Cabinet via AP).  Incidently, Khartoum is the city where the Arabs held their 1967 meeting and coming up with their 3 NO NO NO towards Israel.  What happened?

Our big brother, yes, the United States, is coming through in standing with Israel's right to exist and helped with the cease-fire's acceptance of Bibi's conditions. They have been backing Israel since Harry S. Truman days.   Finally, they understood the situation and used their power before Biden was to leave his seat in January.  He can rest assured that he did the right thing and was on the right side of democracy and morality.

Richard Goldberg On America's Iran Position 's Changed For The Worst in Vienna

 Nadene Goldfoot

No wonder former national-security official, Richard Goldberg called the new Iran agreement “The Worst Deal in History.”the Biden strategy—led by U.S. Iran envoy Robert Malley—promises to make the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism, Iran, even more terrifying.

Richard Goldberg has the background to say such a thing.  He holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Master's in Public Policy and Administration from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. He is an officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve with prior service in Afghanistan. Goldberg has served as an intelligence officer in the United States Naval Reserve since 2006, and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2011. This included  assignments as a Navy Watch Officer in the Pentagon’s command center, Chief of Counterintelligence Threats for a reserve unit supporting U.S. European Command, and Senior Intelligence Officer for an electronic attack squadron deployed to Afghanistan.

From 2004 to 2014, he worked on Capitol Hill, serving as deputy chief of staff and senior foreign policy adviser to former U.S. Senator Mark Kirk of Illinois. As a staffer for former Sen. Mark Kirk, R-Ill., Goldberg helped write legislation that served as the basis for the Barack Obama administration’s sanctions regime on Tehran prior to the nuclear deal. He went on to work for the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, which advocates maximum pressure on Iran.

From 2015 to 2017, he served as deputy chief of staff for legislative affairs and later chief of staff for Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner. .

From 2019-2020,during Trump's 4 years,  Richard served as the Director for Countering Iranian Weapons of Mass Destruction for the White House National Security Council.  Rich previously served on the White House National Security Council and led the Trump administration’s efforts to counter Iranian weapons of mass destruction.

He has the background for such a position.  As a staff associate for the House Appropriations Subcommittee on State-Foreign Operations, Richard worked on a wide range of issues related to U.S. foreign assistance, including foreign military financing, international security assistance, international peacekeeping, development, global health and economic support funds. He was a founding staff director of the House U.S.-China Working Group and was among the first Americans ever to visit China’s human space launch center.

A leader in efforts to expand U.S. missile defense cooperation with Israel, Richard played a key role in U.S. funding for the Arrow-3 program, Iron Dome and the deployment of an advanced missile defense radar to the Negev Desert.Goldberg was also a leading FDD ideologue on the Israel-Palestine conflict. One of his first op-eds after joining FDD attacked the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), a favorite target for the Israeli right and its supporters. “If President Trump wants to use his financial leverage at the United Nations to strike at the heart of the anti-America, anti-Israel institutional infrastructure, he should look no further than the agency responsible for Palestinian refugees: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency,” Goldberg wrote.

He urged President Trump to establish a definition of Palestinian refugees, limiting the term to those who were displaced in 1948, which is at odds with the Palestinian definition. He recommended “formally adopting a definition for Palestinian refugees that makes a clear distinction between refugees displaced by the 1948 war and their descendants.”

In July 2018, Goldberg and his FDD colleague Jonathan Schanzer called the issue of Palestinian refugees a “scam” in a Wall Street Journal op-ed. The pair based this assertion on their preferred definition of refugees, which would only include the approximately 30,000 surviving Palestinians from 1948. The common figure of around five million refugees would be “exposed,” according to Goldberg and Schanzer. They further argue that this would fatally undermine UNRWA and would be “the most pro-Palestinian step an American president could take.” They argued that President Trump “can send a clear message to the millions living in Unrwa (sic) camps: Your leaders want to keep you in squalor, while America wants you to prosper.”

In the Senate, Richard emerged as a leading architect of the toughest sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic of Iran. An Iran hawk, Richard Goldberg played an instrumental role in the Trump administration’s maximum pressure campaign against Tehran. His position was created by John Bolton, National Security Advisor.

He was the lead Republican negotiator for three rounds of sanctions targeting the Central Bank of Iran, the SWIFT financial messaging service, and entire sectors of the Iranian economy. Richard also drafted and negotiated legislation promoting human rights and democracy in Iran, including sanctions targeting entities that provide the Iranian regime with the tools of repression.

His Iran sanctions work was featured in the book, The Iran Wars.

With our new president, Joe Biden, Goldberg's efforts to curb Iran's nuclear ability  have found their way into the round file, evidently.

Trump had quit a deal between the US, its European allies, and Iran and said he's going to hit Iran with the toughest economic sanctions he can.

What it means:  In 2015, the US, along with its main European allies, including the UK and France, plus Russia and China, signed a deal with Iran. The deal promised to lift economic sanctions – a form of economic penalty, placed on one country by an other, if it disapproves of its behaviour. They can be things like trade barriers or tariffs, which can hurt a country's industry – if Iran curbed its nuclear development program.

According to the Guardian, the deal led to a rapid reduction in Iran’s nuclear programme. It reduced its stockpile of low-enriched uranium by 98% to just 300lbs, not enough to make one bomb. But Trump's said the deal's failed, that it hasn't led to peace and that he is going to come down hard on Iran.

Although the other European countries involved are pretty desperate to keep the deal (politicians from France, Germany and the UK have all been in the US in the past few weeks to try and persuade Trump to stick to it) they're now going to have to fight pretty hard to keep it standing. One analyst said that with economic sanctions imposed from the US, global companies could leave Iran, further damaging its industry.

Goldberg had pushed the Trump administration to exit the nuclear deal even as former officials, including Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and national security adviser H.R. McMaster, urged the president to remain in the accord. Trump has since replaced them with Iran hawks Mike Pompeo and John Bolton. Goldberg’s appointment signals that the president still favors a more hawkish posture on Iran, despite his recent decision to pull US troops out of Syria and his assertion that Iran “can do what they want” in the war-wracked country.

"Last week, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps. (IRGC) launched 14 missiles that landed near the U.S. consulate in Irbil, northern Iraq—though strangely the IRGC said it was aiming for an unspecified Israeli “strategic center.”

Nonetheless the Biden administration continues

negotiations with Iran in Vienna—meant to reward

Iran with a $90 billion “signing

bonus” and a clear path to nuclear weapons".

Goldberg's comments can be heard below.

Many Americans should realize by now that Iran's intentions on having nuclear weapons is to wipe out Israel.  Richard, in defending Israel against Iran,  sees the problems that are so obvious.  Sadly, his opinions are being overridden by our American president, Biden.

His grandfather, David Goldberg, should be very proud of him, nevertheless.

Republic of Sudan and Possible Recognition of Israel Soon

 Nadene Goldfoot

Sudan, officially the Republic of the Sudan, is a country in North-East Africa. It is bordered by Egypt to the north, Libya to the northwest, Chad to the west, the Central African Republic to the southwest, South Sudan to the south, Ethiopia to the southeast, Eritrea to the east, and the Red Sea to the northeast.

Sudan is the 8th largest populated Muslim majority country  with a population of 43,939,598 in 2011.  70% are Muslims.  Jews had visited the Sudan from remote times.  In 1885, the Mahdi compelled all Jews and Christians to embrace Islam.  The community dated from the end of the 19th century, but few Jews now live there.  There have been a few Greeks, however.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo (L) with Sudan's Sovereign Council chief General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan in this August 25, 2020 photo [File: Sudan's Foreign Media Council/AFP]

Secretary of State Pompeo seeks a Sudan breakthrough before the US presidential election.  He is hoping that Sudan will "recognize" Israel, something that the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain have now done.   The peace treaty between Egypt and Israel was signed 16 months after Egyptian president Anwar Sadat's visit to Israel in 1977 after intense negotiation. ... The agreement notably made Egypt the first Arab state to officially recognize Israel.

Sudan's history goes back to the Pharaonic period, witnessing the Kingdom of Kerma (c. 2500–1500 BC), the subsequent rule of the Egyptian New Kingdom (c. 1500 BC–1070 BC) and the rise of the Kingdom of Kush (c. 785 BC–350 AD), which would in turn control Egypt itself for nearly a century.  From the 16th–19th centuries, central and eastern Sudan were dominated by the Funj sultanate, while Darfur ruled the west and the Ottomans the far north.

From 1820 to 1874 the entirety of Sudan was conquered by the Muhammad Ali dynasty. Between 1881 and 1885, the harsh Egyptian reign was eventually met with a successful revolt led by the self-proclaimed Mahdi Muhammad Ahmad, resulting in the establishment of the Caliphate of Omdurman. This state was eventually toppled in 1898 by the British, who would then govern Sudan together with Egypt.

This Muslim country is remembered with the name of Darfur.

A letter dated 14 August 2006, from the executive director of Human Rights Watch found that the Sudanese government is both incapable of protecting its own citizens in Darfur and unwilling to do so, and that its militias are guilty of crimes against humanity.  Some reports attribute part of the violations to the rebels as well as the government and the Janjaweed. The U.S. State Department's human-rights report issued in March 2007 claims that "all" parties to the conflagration committed serious abuses, including widespread killing of civilians, rape as a tool of war, systematic torture, robbery and recruitment of child soldiers."

Over 2.8 million civilians have been displaced and the death toll is estimated at 300,000 killed. Both government forces and militias allied with the government are known to attack not only civilians in Darfur (over 9 million live here) , but also humanitarian workers. Sympathizers of rebel groups are arbitrarily detained, as are foreign journalists, human-rights defenders, student activists and displaced people in and around Khartoum, some of whom face torture. The rebel groups have also been accused in a report issued by the U.S. government of attacking humanitarian workers and of killing innocent civilians. According to UNICEF, in 2008, there were as many as 6,000 child soldiers in Darfur.

Sudan is one of four nations listed as a “state sponsor of terrorism” by the US, severely impeding investment as businesses worry of legal risks in dealing with the country.

Currently there are four countries designated under these authorities: the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea), Iran, Sudan, and Syria.

But Sudan was transformed last year when al-Bashir was deposed following a wave of youth-led protests. British-educated economist Abdalla Hamdok has become the new prime minister with a reformist mandate in a transitional arrangement with the military.

Gen. Abdel-Fattah al-Burhan, head of Sudan’s sovereign council, is holding talks with UAE leaders on “regional issues” amid reports concerning a Sudanese decision to normalize relations with Israel. Justice Minister Naser-Eddin Abdelbari is meeting separately with US officials. present in Abu Dhabi to discuss the “removal of Sudan from the list of states sponsoring terrorism.” This is the Khartoum government’s main proviso for going forward on formal ties with Israel as well as a demand for app. $3bn in humanitarian assistance and direct budgetary aid.

Part 2: Israel's Comments About USA Pulling Out of Syria Before It's Time

  Nadene Goldfoot
Benjamin Netanyahu, P.M.of "Likud" and Ehud Barak, former Prime Minister of "Labor"
Opposing Political Parties and Prime Ministers of Israel
"Trump is deserting Syria and the Iranians are celebrating," Ehud Barak, a former Prime Minister of Israel said. "Endless photo opportunities" between Trump and Netanyahu "will not mask the truth: Trump does not work for Bibi and neither does (Russian President Vladimir) Putin. Israel and only Israel is responsible for its own future and fate," Barak tweeted.

National security adviser John Bolton speaks at a Federalist Society luncheon at the Mayflower Hotel on Sept. 10, 2018, in Washington. (Andrew Harnik/AP)

The pledge of keeping troops in Syria as long as Iranian troops are in the area during  war against the Islamic State in the eastern third of the country was made. While Bolton and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo have said Iran poses the bigger strategic threat, U.S. military leaders have emphasized that Iran is not their focus.  They're just beginning to feel the pressure that Israel has been under in having many different terrorists against them.   Here it's ISIS versus
Hezbolla.  Iran is backing the Syrian government.  Syria will act as their puppet.

Pompeo with Netanyahu
In October 2018, Pompeo told a Jewish group that:

"In signs of a shift, US secretary tells Jewish policy group a new key role of US troops in Syria will be to ensure Tehran withdraws forces; backs Israeli strikes on Iranian targets." So this move is not one thought over over the weekend, then.  It's been in the planning stage.  They were going to stay with new goals.

"If Syria doesn’t ensure the total withdrawal of Iranian-backed troops, it will not receive one single dollar from the United States for reconstruction,” Pompeo said." Perhaps the USA can use google to spot Iranian troops without leaving their offices.
Pompeo’s remarks come as the Trump administration shifts its reasoning for US involvement in Syria’s brutal civil war, which a war monitor says has killed close to 365,000 people since 2011.

Trump with Netanyahu
"Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would study the decision and would ensure its own security."
Those opposition leaders of Netanyahu will use this shaming him for
depending so much on the USA and Trump.
Donald Trump spoke with Netanyahu on Monday and Pompeo spoke with him on Tuesday before the announced the pullout of American troops from Syria on Wednesday.  Netanyahu said he wasn't surprised, and that Israel  would defend itself.  "
US Forces will be leaving soon but not ISIS,
still in small pockets in northern Syria

The US didn’t have a massive troop presence, but it still managed to keep Tehran’s weapons from the Iraq-Syria border region; now even Netanyahu can’t hide his disappointment." The Prime Minister was speaking about Iran, the more deadly enemy, present with Hezbollah in Syria.

"One US official said Washington aims to withdraw troops within 60 to 100 days, and said the US State Department was evacuating all its personnel in Syria within 24 hours". The timing could be even faster.  Families will be having very a happy holiday.

USA Army leaving Syria

Many Israelis are shocked and disappointed at the USA pullout.  An opposition figure described it as a surrender, while a retired air force general said it was a move that would damage the reputation of the United States. Others said it would strengthen Iran, embolden Russia, create complications for Israel and challenges for regional US allies such as Jordan. Trump reiterated that the 2,000 leaving have been  training local forces and working with Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces to combat ISIS.

Trump is wary of open-ended foreign conflicts and his decision on Syria raises questions about whether he may also reconsider the U.S. war effort in Afghanistan, where American forces have been fighting since 2001.

Typical ISIS Act-Beheading prisoners.
They're not of the right group of Muslims, not like the extreme ISIS.
A fast pull-out "would raise doubts about how to prevent a resurgence of the terrorist group, undercut US leverage in the region and undermine diplomatic efforts to end the Syrian civil war, now in its eighth year."

Could it be coming about because Trump is threatening to shut down the government if he doesn't get the money to build THE WALL, the wall between Mexico and the USA to keep out illegal crossing into the States?  He has an agenda of completing projects promised.  He was bound to do one of them and the troops in Syria was next on the list.

Pockets of ISIS in northern Syria are still active,
part of the 10% remaining.

Trump just spoke on TV about it and explains that "WE WON."  Ran Paul, Senator, is happy about this.  Others aren't.  ISIS came out of the old Al Qaeda.  Fallen American soldiers were said to be happy about it, but one, a Vet, doesn't think so.  The move can strengthen Iran's hold in Syria through Hezbollah.  It's hard to keep a promise of leaving and hold one's newly-won position.  The 2 goals are at odds with each other.

Syrian Army; Hezbollah Fighters

Iran, and its Russian allies, will likely interpret the American move as an admission of defeat and feel emboldened to act in Syria as they please.

"A complete withdrawal of US troops from Syria would leave a sizable US military presence in the region, including about 5,200 troops across the border in Iraq. Much of the US campaign in Syria has been waged by warplanes flying out of Qatar and other locations in the Middle East. As we understand, it's just the 2,000 in Syria that are going home.  If, G-d forbid, Israel did need help, USA troops are close by.  They wouldn't have to come from the east coast of the USA.

General James Mattis b: September 8, 1950

Still, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and State Department officials have long fretted about leaving Syria before a peace agreement can be reached to end the brutal civil war."  This could be why Trump isn't happy with him.

Amos Yadlin, a former general in the Israeli air force and later Israeli military attache to Washington, said that by deserting its Kurdish partners who have assisted in fighting ISIS, Trump was damaging the reputation of the United States and the trust regional states had in it

An interesting note about ISIS from 2009: In 2009, before the Syrian civil war, a bus ride from Homs to Deir al-Zor on the Euphrates River would take around five or six hours. There was a stop for refreshments just outside of the historic city of Palmyra. Until recently, fighters from Islamic State had been taking that bus route which has been run by Syria's Hezbollah terrorists:  one terrorist group helping another!

Haaretz wrote back in April 2018 that they knew Trump felt their job was coming to an end. " A headline said,

"Trump's White House says military mission to eradicate ISIS in Syria 'coming to rapid end.  They saw the USA wasn't in agreement with him.

"Trump keeps saying he wants out of Syria, while U.S. defense officials and diplomats say the United States remains committed to its role in pacifying the country after seven years of a devastating war."  I must add this, though.  "It is known for its left-wing and liberal stances on domestic and foreign issues. As of 2016, the newspaper had a weekday exposure rate of 3.9% in Israel."  At least they printed the truth.  The USA is not backing Trump's decision.
