Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Against Israel"s Birth and Growth

                  College campuses learn to show hatred for Jews as well as for Israel 

CODEPINK, or Code Pink: Women for Peace, is a left-wing organization that supports the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement. BDS is a nonviolent Palestinian-led movement that promotes economic sanctions, divestments, and boycotts against Israel.  I note that usually such groups turn nasty, violent.  
            

Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) started July 9, 2005 by Omar Barghouti, and Ramy Shaat, Palestinian Arabs and said to be a nonviolent Palestinian-led movement promoting boycotts, divestments, and economic sanctions against Israel. This has only created much anti-Semitism including violence.                                     

Its objective is to pressure Israel to meet what the BDS movement describes as Israel's obligations under international law,   The problem lies in that Palestinians consider all of Israel as belonging to the Arabs and disregard all legal matters decided after WWI.  Israel offered the sun, moon and stars to the Arabs to gain peace, but they No No No'd from 1967  even before and onward.  Their one goal in mind has been the ones to destroy Israel.  

Their leaders define this  as:                     

            August 18, 2005 when Jews found it hard to leave Gaza after all their work, and because of the government's decision, soldiers had to help them out.  They left their businesses for the Arabs who turned around and destroyed them anyway.  Instead, they learned how to dig tunnels.  

1.  Withdrawal from the occupied territories:  The Occupied Territories, which include Judea/Samaria, East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip, are subject to the jurisdiction of Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA), with the division of responsibilities overlapping in much of the territory.  Israel moved out of Gaza and gave it to Palestinians in 2005. By 22 September 2005, Israel's withdrawal from the entire Gaza Strip to the 1967 Green Line, and the eviction of the four settlements in Samaria, was completed. In June 2007 Hamas, the terrorists of the PA,  took over the Gaza Strip from the Palestinian Authority by their own election encouraged by Obama.  Jews had created Judea/Samaria and all of Jerusalem.  It's written as such in the Bible for verification.  It's the land they have finally returned to;  and were doing everything for a peaceful Arab-cousin revival, but instead were met with bullets.                                                          

2. Removal of the separation barrier in the West Bank:  The barrier was built by Israel following a wave of Palestinian political violence and incidents of terrorism inside Israel during the Second Intifada, which began in September 2000 and ended in February 2005.   It may be causing inconveniences, but it is saving lives.  

3. Full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and :  Arab citizens of Israel are descendants of Palestinians who remained in the area that became Israel after the 1948 Arab-Israeli war. They were automatically granted citizenship and the right to vote. Why were they granted citizenship?   The Israeli government granted citizenship to Palestinians who remained or were not expelled after the 1948 war. Anyone born in Israel to at least one Israeli parent automatically becomes a citizen.  In the early 1980s, Israel granted citizenship eligibility to the Palestinians in East Jerusalem and the Syrian citizens of the Golan Heights by annexing both areas, though they remain internationally recognized as part of the Israeli-occupied territories, which came into being after the Six-Day War of 1967.

4. "respecting, protecting, and promoting the rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes and properties".  They left because their leaders told them to do so.  They expected to win the war and all the civilians could take over Jewish homes.  The Jews won the war instead and the Arabs continued to live in refugee camps.  

• Arabs comprise just over 20 percent of Israel’s population. The vast majority are citizens, while those in Jerusalem, which Israel claims as its capital, are considered “permanent residents.”  Israel is the only country created for Jews and by Jews because they have suffered anti-Semitic discrimination ever since they were Hellenized by the Greeks.  Britain held the 30 year mandate and at the end promised to help build the Jewish Homeland.  Instead, they helped more Arabs to enter while keeping Jews out at the time of WWII.  There has never been a country of Palestine; it was renamed as such by the angry Romans, land named after Israel's worst enemy.

Many critics as well as myself  accuse the BDS movement of antisemitism, as I have seen it grow at Portland State U.  It's a charge the movement denies, calling it an attempt to conflate antisemitism with anti-Zionism.  Multiple countries and the majority of U.S. states have passed anti-BDS laws.

The Promised Land and The Outposts

  1920 and Israel/Judah-renamed Palestine by Romans: 120,466 sq. km. or 46,512.1826 sq. miles which included  Judea and Samaria as it had always been.  Samaria was the northern section and Judea the southern.  Israel's total surface was 17,500 sq miles  of which 45% was in Transjordan. 

 The cattle-keeping tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half of Manasseh lived in Transjordan.  King David conquered the whole Transjordan including the rich copper mines of the Arabah.  under the weak successors of Solomon, this area was lost or only held temporarily.  Western Ammon was held for a time by a Jewish family, the TOBIADS.                                            

The extent of the Promised land reached the Pelusium arm of the Nile Delta, the Gulf of Elath, and the Euphrates opposite Aleppo in the East: It included most of Syria and altogether covered 58,000 sq miles.  This entire area was occupied by the Israelites under David and Solomon.                       

                     Israel, now only 8,550 sq. miles in size.  

Israel's Border Police forces evacuated and demolished an illegal outpost near Shilo in Samaria (the West Bank).  A group of 20 masked people arrived at a nearby hill and began throwing stones at the Border Police, damaging a patrol vehicle.

The Border Police then continued to another nearby illegal outpost, Ramat Migron, where five people were arrested during clashes with police and four patrol cars were damaged. The evacuation comes amid continued violence between settlers and Palestinian in the West Bank.

Those that dare to live in their previous homeland are usually orthodox Jews who have great respect and awe of the land, so intricately woven into Judaism.  Israel has dared to allow living space under different PMs.  This is the land most dearly loved in our religion and it's hard to deny Jews to live there when they are a stone's throw away from it.  

                                                

By 135 CE, a Jewish General, Bar Kokhba,  had held Jerusalem for the past 3 years, taking it from the Romans who had taken it from the Jews in 70 CE by burning down the Temple with the city.  Palestine was the name the Romans gave to the land to get even with the Jews for retaking the land as it is giving praise to the Philistines, the worst enemy the Jews had fought.                            

The Jews had held the land ever since Joshua b: c. 1350 BCE of the tribe of Ephraim and the 601,730  Israelites had entered it and helped to create an empire.  That was an empire for 1,420 years that had been of the Israelites before the greedy Roman conquerors. The USA is only 245 years old.  Israel was 5 1/2 times older than the USA.  Can you imagine what the USA will be like in the year 3441?  

It wasn't just a country to the Judeans, who lived in the southern end of Israel.  It had religious underpinnings.  The Israelites were led there by G-d, and told to live there and that it was to be their home.  The Temple had been a very important part of their religious beliefs.    

The Israeli-occupied territories refers to the land won back by Israel during the Six-Day War of 1967. It was a terrible 6 days when all the surrounding Arab armies attacked Israel, and a miracle happened.  Israel won.  After attacking Israel from 1947 to 1949, and again in 1956 and losing, this was the Arab chance of retribution.  It didn't work.   It was a hard win for Israel.  776 soldiers died and 5,293 were injured, a far more serious war than previous ones.  The started with Syria, Egypt and Soviet Union spreading rumors of concentrations of Israeli forces on the Syrian frontier, still believed by some.  They ignored on the spot reports by the UN that no such concentration existed.  The Arabs tried so hard to bait the Jews into starting the war even while they were all lined up on the border.                                               

The 1967 Six-Day War between Israel and its Arab neighbors shocked the world and resulted in an Israeli victory that created the boundaries of the modern Middle East.

The war started when Egypt spread rumor for concentrating the bulk of the Egyptian army in Sinai-90,000 men and 900 tanks.  Egypt then closed the Straits of Tiran to all destined for Israel, AND CALLED FOR WAR.  Led by Egypt, the Arab States formed a war pact against Israel.  Jordan, Iraq, Syria had their armies along the border with Israel.  They made public speeches saying their intention was to destroy Israel.

 It also sometimes refers to areas of Southern Lebanon where Israeli military was present to support local Lebanese militias during the civil war and after it. Originally, the sole governance of the territories were as the Jordanian-annexed Judea-Samaria, land first promised to the Jews and won back in the 1967 war, the Egyptian-occupied Gaza Strip (given to Palestinians in the name of peace that has never come) , the Egyptian Sinai Peninsula (given back to Egypt in the name of peace), and the Syrian Golan Heights.

If you want to know about occupied territories, ask the Jews how they suffered under the Syrian Greek  Occupation during the days of Judah the Maccabee, and then again by the Roman Occupation, equally as bad.  Nobody has suffered more than the Jews from 'OCCUPATION."  The Jewish morality is the Golden Rule, not to do to others that which they find repugnant to themselves, clarified by Hillel born in Babylonia of 1st century BCE before Jesus was born.  

The first use of the term 'territories occupied' was in United Nations Security Council Resolution 242 following the Six-Day War in 1967, which called for "the establishment of a just and lasting peace in the Middle East" to be achieved by "the application of both the following principles: ... 

1.Withdrawal of Israeli armed forces from territories occupied in the recent conflict ... Israel withdrew from Gaza completely and look what it got them; rockets landing into Israel.  Ask Ashkelon's hospital how they like it; having to go to the basement to operate.  

2.Termination of all claims or states of belligerency" and respect for the right of every state in the area to live in peace within secure and recognized boundaries.  The Palestinians, followers of Arafat's Fatah and Hamas terrorists certainly haven't been following that rule, and are still firing rockets into Israel.  Syria and Lebanon are now being taking over by Iran and Russia is also involved there with plenty of Russians in the population.  

In addition to the territories won by Israel following the Six-Day War, Israel also controlled portions of Southern Lebanon following the 1982 Lebanon War, and maintained a military presence there until withdrawing in 2000.

What are Israeli outposts?  In Israeli law, an outpost (Hebrew: מאחז‎, Ma'ahaz lit. "a handhold") is an unauthorized or illegal Israeli settlement within Judea and Samaria ( the West Bank), constructed without the required authorization from the Israeli government in contravention of Israeli statutes regulating planning and construction. 

In Israeli law, outposts are distinguished from settlements authorized by the Israeli government. This distinction between illegal outposts and "legal" settlements is not endorsed by international law, which considers both a violation of the norms, governing belligerent occupations, applicable to the Israeli-occupied West Bank.  

They started as military outposts.  In theory, military outposts are temporary occupations for military strategic purposes, not for the settlement of civilians. In the Israeli held areas in Judea and Samaria, this were typically Nahal settlements, and they became a principal way to start civilian settlements.           

Outposts were originally Nahal villages established by the Israel Defence forces.  Nahal is a corps which combines military training with farm work;  its members become farmers when their service ends.  The villages are, in substance, military points, like those held by any other unit of the Israel Defence forces. 

There are villages that were made up of  civilians established in areas which Israel hopes may be assigned to the jurisdiction by peace treaties.  Israel has declared again and again that, in peace talks, everything will be negotiable.  

There are communities established in areas where the political future is not covered by Israel's positions.  The assumption has been that they may even go to Arab sovereignty under a treaty of peace.

So while everyone else is breaking previous plans for peace, Israel's law is after those religious folks living in Judea and Samaria's countryside illegally.

Debunking Lies The Public Swallows About Israel Part II

Lie: 6. The Arabs have historically gone to war to regain their territories and assist the refugees.

Truth:  There were no occupied territories in 1948, 1956, and 1967, but still the Arabs made war;  there was no Palestinian refugee issue in 1948, but still the Arabs attacked.         

Lie:7.  The Palestine Liberation Organization is the sole representative of the Palestinian people, now represented by Mahmoud Abbas of the PA since 2004.

Truth:  The PLO was a loose confederation of terrorist organizations unified mainly by a desire to destroy Israel.  All of the terrorist groups depend upon various Arab states for economic and diplomatic support.  The PLO was based primarily in Lebanon and Syria, where less than 15%of Palestinians lived. It had never held general elections until Obama came along and insisted in January 2005, and then Hamas, a terror group, was elected.  PLO lacked the characteristics of a legitimate national liberation group.  It did not operate from within Israel, and its constituent groups attack civilian targets exclusively. Hamas is against the PLO with ideology of Muslim Brotherhood Islamists that Egypt had outlawed.  "Their solution for the Palestinian question is through Jihad (Holy War).  It's in the Hamas charter.    

Most PA officials belonged to the PLO or Hamas, the radical Islamist.  The former Hamas leader, Khaled Maashal, who stepped down in 2017,  lived in Damascus, Syria. Hamas and Hezbollah signed an agreement in 2004 to increase attacks on Israel.  

The Palestinians are divided between the West Bank covert terroristic leadership of Mahmoud Abbas (b:1935) , and the Gaza Hamas leadership, Ismail Haniya, Hamas chief since 2017, who was re-elected for a four-year term following an unopposed internal election by party members.  of overt terrorism. Gaza's group is still the outgrowth of the PLO, still shooting rockets into Israel almost every day. 

                                                    

Lie:8.  Israel has prevented a peaceful  settlement by refusing to negotiate with the PLO/PA/Hamas and recognize a Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza.

Truth: The PLO had made it clear from its official documents that it did not and would not recognize or live with a Jewish state in Israel.  The 1968 Palestine National Covenant, the PLO's constitution, asserts in Article 19 that "the partitioning of Palestine in 1947 and the establishment of Israel are fundamentally null and void." Article 20 claims all of Gaza, Israel, and the West Bank and Jordan:  Article 15 calls for the Arabs "to purge the Zionist presence from Palestine.l"  The Covenant makes it clear that the PLO wants an ARAB  state in which the Jews will be a minority.  Article 6 states that only "Jews who were living permanently in Palestine until the beginning of the Zionist invasion will be considered Palestinians." and thus allowed to stay.  

When confronted with the possibility of negotiating with Israel in 1974, the PLO (through the Palestine National Council) promulgated the 10 Point Program.  The program states that it will accept a West Bank/Gaza state only as a "fighting authority" that would not permit "recognition, conciliation, secure borders" with Israel. 

                                               

Lie: 9.  Zionism is a racist, exclusivist philosophy.

Truth:  Zionism is the national liberation movement of the Jewish people..  It is a modern manifestation of an 1,800 year-old dream:  to rebuild the Jewish state of Israel after the destruction of the 2nd Temple and expulsion of the Jews.  The lessons of history have demonstrated the need to ensure Jewish security through a national home.  Zionism recognized that Jewishness is defined by a shared religion, culture, and history.  Jews of all colors and more than 100 countries are represented in Israel's population.

Many Christians, such as the Evangelicals,  also have supported the goals and ideals of Zionism.  Israel's open and democratic character, and its scrupulous insurance of religious and political rights of Christians and Moslems rebut the charge of exclusivism.

                                                 

Lie: 10.  Israel forcibly annexed Arab Jerusalem, restricted Christian and Moslem religious freedom there, and undermines homes and building with excavations.   

Truth:  The UN decided in 1947 that Jerusalem should be an international city, a corpus separutum.  Although none of the Arab states recognized this decision, Israel did,(OY Gevalt!) despite the fact that Jerusalem had had a Jewish majority population since 1876.  Jordan conquered the Old City in the 1948 fighting.  During its 19-year stewardship, Jordan demolished 34 of 35 synagogues, barred all Jews and Israeli Moslems from praying at their sacred shrines in Jerusalem, and quarried tombstones from the Jewish Mount of Olives cemetery to pave Jordanian army latrines.  

On the  2nd day of the  1967 war, Jordan ignored repeated pleas from Israel and began shelling Israel from Jerusalem.  Israel reunited the city.  Since that time, the rights of the diverse Christian and Moslem sects have been upheld by Israeli law.  

However, On 28 May, 2020, Netanyahu said he was committed to annexing parts of the West Bank in July once a joint Israeli-US team completes mapping the exact territory based on the conceptual map released by US President Donald Trump's administration.  The West Bank has been divided into 3 areas from Oslo;  and Israel has area C exclusively, though Arabs have not obeyed this ruling.  

This annexation has been dropped now that Netanyahu is out and Naftali Bennett is in who said, " he will continue ‘natural growth’ of settlements and vows Jerusalem will only ever be Israel’s capital".  Israel won’t annex territory or establish Palestinian state on my watch. 

 I just counted 20 major mosques in Israel.  Although UNESCO has criticized Israeli excavations in Jerusalem, those charges were disproved by the May 1974 investigation of Prof. Rayond Lemmaire, UNESCO Director-General's representative.   Excavations have been done illegally by the Arabs.  Israel wants and allows archaeologists to excavate as it is a city with history, and proof of history is a way of vetting facts.  It must be an archaologist's dream to work in Israel.  Please watch THE NAKED ARCHAOLOGIST ON YOUR TV--YOUTUBE.
