Why We Cannot Allow Chemical Warfare, Even On ISIS

Nadene Goldfoot

Most victims were women and children.

Russians, who have control
of Syria and Assad, plead that all pictures were staged.  Russia has been in Syria since 2012, maybe earlier.  They know the problems involved working with Assad and what he's capable of.  Copping a plea about this is hard to swallow.  Some people are just compulsive liars.  As to staging
pictures of the suffering seen on TV, that's pretty hard to do.  The picture above proves nothing.
Homs, Syria is shown with the red dot at the top that was hit in an
attack by France, England and USA  Friday the 13th of April 2018.
After being warned last year not to use chemical weapons, they were warned a 2nd time with
3 times the strength as the first time since he hadn't believed the first message.  Just
west of Homs was the factory making the gas, Sarin that was destroyed.
In World War I, chemical warfare was used by the Germans on the Allies.  "One of Germany's earliest uses of chemical weapons occurred on October 27, 1914, when shells containing the irritant dianisidine chlorosulfonate were fired at British troops near Neuve-Chapelle, France."

This Canadian soldier in WWI suffered from mustard gas burns 1917-1918.

"Germany used another irritant, xylyl bromide, in artillery shells that were fired in January 1915 at the Russians near Bolimów, in present-day Poland.[17] The first full-scale deployment of deadly chemical warfare agents during World War I was at the Second Battle of Ypres, on April 22, 1915, when the Germans attacked French, Canadian and Algerian troops with chlorine gas.
A total 50,965 tons of pulmonary, lachrymatory, and vesicant agents were deployed by both sides of the conflict, including chlorine, phosgene, and mustard gas. Official figures declare about 1.3 million casualties directly caused by chemical warfare agents during the course of the war. Of these, an estimated 100,000-260,000 casualties were civilians. Nearby civilian towns were at risk from winds blowing the poison gases through. Civilians rarely had a warning system put into place to alert their neighbors of the danger. In addition to poor warning systems, civilians often did not have access to effective gas masks.

Conventional weapons are allowed in warfare,  but not the following; called the NBC  which are the  Nuclear, Biological and Chemical that have been known about.  These can take over and kill millions at one swipe.  They can kill one's enemy and one's friends alike all at once.  They could wipe out the earth of its population.  This was decided by 65 states in 1997, that late.  Israel has signed but not ratified it since the Palestine authority has not signed.   Only Egypt, North Korea, Palestine (which became eligible to accede to UN deposited treaties upon becoming a UN observer state in 2012) and South Sudan have neither signed nor acceded to the Convention. Aside from Palestine, the other four states which are not
parties are suspected of possessing chemical weapons.

Devastation of Homs, Syria "It has been widely reported in the Western media that women and children trapped in Homs are to be rescued - allowed to get out of the city. At the time of writing civilians are leaving but it is of little comfort, the old city is beyond rescue. The losses that this city has endured surpass piecemeal attempts at intervention."
In fact it is a double siege; 73 Christian civilians with their priest are being held as hostages by troops, who are in turn being besieged with their families.  Only the chemical
factory was the pinpointed target.  These people were not injured. I hope they were able
to escape.

"In July 2012, Syria publicly acknowledged that it possesses chemical weapons. For a number of years preceding this announcement, the United States intelligence community assessed that Syria has a stockpile of chemical weapons, including mustard gas, blister agents, and nerve agents such as sarin and VX. Syria has the capability to deliver these agents using aerial bombs, ballistic missiles, and artillery rockets.

"A secret State Department cable from the U.S. consul general in Istanbul said there was compelling evidence that the Syrian military had used a chemical weapon known as Agent 15 in Homs on December 23, 2012."

The use of Sarin gas is about as bad as you can get. "It is a highly toxic chemical weapon that can kill in minutes and is estimated to be 26 times deadlier than cyanide." The nerve agent sarin is believed to have been used in the Assad government’s alleged chemical weapons attack on Douma Syria; his own people who may have turned against him.

Assad is a bad guy, we know that.  As bad guys, go, his replacement could be worse.  Who is he fighting against? Who are
the rebels?  Syrians who want him replaced.  Who are they all fighting against?  ISIS.  Russia is not earning any halos in this debacle.  Iran is the really bad of the baddies.  Who earns the halo?  France, England and the USA who are upholding the international law of not using the c in the NBC list of abhorrent ways to kill people in a war.  Others in this world seems to keep on testing the waters constantly to see if the light has changed.  It's still on red as far as this disgusting method of killing goes.  It was President Trump who was not afraid to take this moral stand along with President Emmanuel Macron of France and Prime Minister Theresa May of Great Britain.

The German soldier fought prepared as Germany
used gas and chemicals against the Allies.

More than 16 million soldiers died in WWI, many from the use of chemical weaponry.  Over the course of the war — which lasted from July 28, 1914, to Nov. 11, 1918 — about 3,000 chemicals were investigated for military use, and 50 toxic agents were deployed on battlefields across Europe, killing an estimated 90,000 to 100,000 people and leaving 1.3 million people injured.

1981 Saddam Hussein's Iraqi Nuclear Complex For Use Against Israel-What Else?

     Nadene Goldfoot
The irony of it all was when the land of Iraq was a part of Mesopotamia, specifically Babylonia, it was conquered by the Arabs in 637 much to the relief of the Jews who hoped they would deliver them from the Sassanid persecution.  The Jews even helped the Arab's advance!

Building site of complex foundation of Osirak nuclear complex.  One can see the deep pool and dome where later the reactor was to sit.
Little did they realize that 1,344 years  later on June 7, 1981,  the 2nd state of Israel would have to preempt the building of a weapon meant to be directed against them by launching a surprise attack to destroy the OSIRAK NUCLEAR COMPLEX of Iraq.    This was French nuclear reactor built for the Arabs near Baghdad.  "It is the world's first air strike against a nuclear plant."

Some F-15 interceptors and F-16 fighter bombers destroyed the Osirak reactor 18 miles south of Baghdad, on the orders of Prime Minister Menachem Begin.  The distance from Baghdad to Jerusalem is only 547 miles or 880 km air travel.

The UN had a fit.  Israel was widely criticized for doing this.  All the critics were minimizing the importance of Iraq's nuclear program because Baghdad had signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.  They even allowed their facilities to be inspected.  Israel had baseless fears, they all said.

Iraq invaded Kuwait on August 2-4th, 1990 and the US said, "Hold on.  Wait a minute."  The USA let it slip that they had known about Iraq developing nuclear weapons and that it was far closer to reaching its goal than thought before.  All the critics crawled out of their walls to say that the USA was now only looking for justification for a war with Iraq.  They all were arguing with the US Administration.  The result of Iraq's invasion  "resulted in the seven-month-long Iraqi occupation of Kuwait, and subsequently led to direct military intervention by US-led forces in the Gulf War and the setting alight by Iraq of 600 Kuwaiti oil wells."    This gave reason to the USA not to trust Iraq and to put them at the top of their BAD list.  They wound up invading Iraq after 9/11/01  on April 23, 2003 to May 1, 2003.

After Israel's hit on the nuclear facility,  UN inspectors found Saddam's program had been developing weapons that were more extensive than even the Israelis knew about.  The experts thought that Iraq was incapable of enriching uranium for bombs, but Saddam's researchers used several methods-even one thought to be obsolete-that made it possible for Iraq to have built one bomb at least.  That's all it would take to wipe out teeny Israel of 8,000 square miles.

Saddam was known for his cruelty, even to his best friends.  How people could have been trusting him is beyond my comprehension.  It wasn't a surprise to me when the USA invaded Iraq looking for weapons of mass destruction after 9/11.  They may or may not have picked on the right enemy, but they sure picked a doozy with Saddam.  He was not a nice man to anyone except himself.  He would be today's runner up to Hitler, no doubt.

He had given orders to hit Tel Aviv with a chemical attack in April of 1990. He had said to Yasser Arafat then, "“Iraq has chemical weapons it successfully used against the Iranians” during the eight-year Iran-Iraq War, “and Iraq won’t hesitate to use them against Tel Aviv" .” Israel has gone through several of those already and has has to dole out gas masks to its whole population and give directions to make a sealed safe room for survival.

"Hussein did fire 39 Scud missiles armed with conventional warheads at Israel during the First Gulf War lasting from August 2, 1990 to February 28, 1991-called Operation Desert Shield.  It was a war war waged by coalition forces from 34 nations led by the United States against Iraq in response to Iraq's invasion and annexation of Kuwait.   One Israeli died.   Fears that he might use chemical warheads on the Scuds led to the Israeli authorities distributing gas masks, and ordering the populace into sealed rooms when the Scuds were heading toward Israel."

Upcoming UN Nuclear Agency Meeting and What They'll Talk About: Iran or Israel

Nadene Goldfoot

The Arabs are having a mental problem.  They are constantly fixated on Israel.  The sky is falling on top of their heads; their children are dying from their neighbors chemical warfare, but they zero in on nothing except Israel.  They have a one-track hatred problem.  They can't pull the wool over Israelis eyes because they are also Middle Easterners,  but oh, so different.  .And oh, do Muslims covet Jerusalem!

This will show up again in this coming week's UN nuclear agency meeting taking place September 27-28th.  The Arabs have a deaf ear for Westerners who are concerned about Iran's atomic power that will soon be productive.  The Arabs will target Israel over its assumed nuclear arsenal.  Israel is widely believed to possess the Middle East's only nuclear arsenal.  This draws a lot of Arab and Iranian condemnation.  Israel has never acknowledged having any.  Israel hasn't threatened anyone of the Middle Easterners, either, which is what Iran has done to Israel.  Being a dot on the map among Arab nations that is constantly attacked or threatened by attacks gives Israel an edge.  G-d forbid,  if push came to shove, the idea of Israel having such a defense system has kept their enemies at bay for 65 years without Israel saying boo, except they see Israel as a power they haven't overcome by fighting, either.  1947-48, 56, 67,  73, 82, attacks from Gaza, lots of wars and Israel has never had to play the Atomic bomb card.  Yet.

Israel's religion is Judaism, following the precepts laid down by Moses almost 4,000 years ago.  It's a religion of moral laws; doing the right thing by one's neighbor.  Mohammad called Jews and Christians the People of the Book.  I see that the Qur'an teaches that Muslims must fight and kill unbelievers "wherever you overtake them" until "religion is Allah's." (2:190-193).  What happened to our respect?

Judaism is not a religion that beats the bushes for converts.  Quite the opposite.  We don't proselytize. Not even in Khazaria where the Kagan was bumping into the powers of Christianity and Islam that was harming his trading pursuits.  .  He took the middle road of choosing Judaism for his royal house but didn't force anyone to convert. He actually heard 3 speakers tell about their religion and chose Judaism.   Khazaria became a haven for other oppressed Jews from nearby lands.  It's a hard religion to join.  One has to keep asking to show that they are serious.  By these standards and because of being isolated from the population of the countries we lived in, we haven't even married out of the faith hardly ever until recent history, mainly in the USA.

Our government tries to tell us that Islam is a religion of peace, but there's an awful lot of hate for Jews in it of which makes Nazism very attractive to the Arabs.  Islam's author, who dictated his book to another since he couldn't read or write, was Mohammad, a warrior on a horse living much later than Moses being born in 570 CE in Mecca.  Islam teaches that Allah transformed disobedient Jews into "apes, despised" (2:65; 7:166), and "apes and pigs" (5:60).  It says that they're accursed for rejecting the Qur'an, which they should have recognized as confirming their own Scriptures."  So they have a deep grudge against us for not converting back then.  And now here we are, having thrown off the shackles of being dhminnis in their lands to holding the deed for their old land again by bringing to life the land of Israel.  Not only that, but this handful of people have become a strong nation of 8,000 sq. miles.  Their 8 million people are tough, withstanding all the attacks the Arabs have brought against them.  They even have the audacity to act friendly towards them, until they're bombed.  When I think of the 23 million people in Cairo alone, I wonder myself how Israel can fend off their armies, but they have done it.  We feel we have help from high up.

According to the Muslims, we eat kosher food because of our wrongdoing.  They believe that G-d (that one G-d that both Jews and Muslims believe-being monotheistic)  gave food laws to the Jews as punishment.  They think this was brought on by our averting from the way of G-d, and so was repaid for their injustice (6:146).  Here we have 613 laws other than the 10 Commandments plus a lot of others including discussions on behavior to be just to others, and they think just the opposite.  We had King Solomon, known far and wide for his wisdom in judging people and coming up with such intelligent decisions.  As a judgmental people, we sure produce a lot of lawyers and doctors.

We have the Muslims who say we know nothing about justice while the Christians have always faulted us with too many laws.  We can't please everyone and I don't think Moses was trying to, except we were to be a light, an example of good behavior.  Learning by example works in most cases.  This time it's just caused a lot of jealousy in these closed minds.

And so it goes.  Always pick on the faults of the Jews, real or imagined.   Muslims have no faults.  They're tough.  They're warriors.  They'll die in battle and have 72 virgins at their disposal. I wonder it that counts when they kill their own people who are also Muslims?   Children grow up wanting to emulate their warrior chiefs.  That's their example.  It goes on right in Gaza and the classrooms of Palestinians in Judea and Samaria.  The problem is, they're only fooling themselves; and a lot of the members of the UN.
