Reza Pahlavi, Crown Prince of Iran and The Revolution

 Nadene Goldfoot

Reza Pahlavi, crown prince of Iran (31 October 1960, Tehran, Iran;  once called Persia

Reza Pahlavi (born 31 October 1960) is an Iranian politician and dissident. A member of the Pahlavi dynasty, he is the eldest son of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the last shah of Iran, and Farah Diba. He is one of the mainstream figures of the Iranian opposition, which oppose the Islamic Republic of IranBorn in Tehran, Iran, Reza Pahlavi was officially named crown prince of Iran at the time of his father's coronation in 1967.  The Shah's eldest son shows us that indeed, he is a true leader.

His father, the Shah of Iran

Mohammad Reza Pahlavi (Persianمحمدرضا پهلوی ; 26 October 1919 – 27 July 1980) was the Shah of Iran from 1941 to 1979. He succeeded his father Reza Shah and ruled the Imperial State of Iran until he was overthrown by the 1979 Islamic Revolution led by Ruhollah Khomeini, which abolished the Iranian monarchy to establish the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Crown Prince Pahlavi began a relationship with Yasmine Etemad-Amini in 1985. They married on June 12, 1986, in Greenwich, Connecticut; he was 25 and she was 17. The couple have three daughters: Noor (born 3 April 1992), Iman (born 12 September 1993), and Farah (born 17 January 2004).  Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi and his family resided in Greenwich, Connecticut, for about 14 years, with his mother, Empress Farah, settling there in the mid-1980s after the Iranian Revolution, though he later moved to the Washington D.C. area, making his time specifically in Connecticut part of the earlier exile period, not his primary long-term residence as an adult, with his main base shifting to the U.S. capital.

Ceremony at Pasargadae to mark the 2,500-year celebration of the Persian Empire in 1971; the Crown Prince is at far right, age 10, standing next to his parents.

He has been the leader of the 9 days of fighting and demonstrating against the Ayatollah regime that has been ruling for the past 45 some years.  This is why this time the Iranian people will be successful in overthrowing the Ayatollah and his government.  They have a leader.

The people have woken up to the fact that they had been a people of the famous Iranian Empire that had accomplished much.  They have been a frightened people fearing failure and death in the hands of the Ayatollahs. Things couldn't get worse for them as they find themselves now.  They have reached the point of being fearless;  of trusting in something more than themselves.

In his youth, he was a keen football player and spectator.

As a cadet of the Imperial Iranian Air Force, he moved to the United States for pilot training at Reese Air Force Base in 1978. The next year, his father was overthrown and the monarchy was abolished in the wake of the Iranian Revolution led by Ruhollah Khomeini.

In 1980,at age 20,  following the death of his father in exile, Reza Pahlavi declared himself shah of Iran, stylizing himself as "Reza Shah II", and actively participated in political activities opposing the Islamic Republic from abroad. Abroad is where he is right now, ready to step in once the Ayatollah scrambles to Russia, his hideout.

  • Contingency Plans: According to intelligence sources cited by British and Israeli media, Ayatolla Khamenei has reportedly developed a "Plan B" to flee to Moscow, Russia, with up to 20 close aides and family members if the security situation and protests overwhelm his forces. This plan is said to emulate the escape route taken by Syria's Bashar al-Assad in late 2024.While his precise, real-time location remains a state secret, it is known that various international intelligence agencies monitor his movements closely, as Mossad might be doing, or CIA.
Reza's portrait is being shown at this rally

In January and February 2025, he advised U.S. President Donald Trump against entering into an agreement with the Islamic Republic that would limit Iran's nuclear programme in exchange for sanctions relief.

During the 2025 Iran–Israel war, following Iranian blackout of the internet, Pahlavi said the blackout "is a sign of panic not strength." Pahlavi said in the same interview he viewed the destruction of Iran's military infrastructure and possessions such as airbases and fighter jets as a loss. Pahlavi said that the war was not that of the Iranian people but Khamenei's war and that it was the Iranian people who are paying the price.

On February 23, 2025, in an interview with The Daily Telegraph, Pahlavi called on Europe and Americans to prepare for impending collapse of regime in Tehran. At another time  Pahlavi denounced inequalities and energy crises in Iran. He criticized the drying up of rivers and air pollution in Iran, which is now so critical.

                                                   Iran–Israel war

On 17 June 2025, amidst the Iran–Israel war, Pahlavi delivered a statement declaring that the Islamic Republic of Iran is "on the verge of collapse." He emphasized that internal divisions and defections within the regime signal its impending downfall. Pahlavi expressed confidence that the Iranian people, who have long resisted oppression, will soon achieve liberation. Pahlavi addressed the Iranian military and security forces, urging them to abandon the regime and join the people's movement for change.

Reza Pahlavi;  Leader in exile, attends a session of European Parliament in Belgium in 2023.

Pahlavi has said that after the Islamic revolution in 1979, he concluded the merit of "separation of religion from state as a primordial principle and precondition to democratic order."  Pahlavi has said that he has no intention to take a long-term leadership role in Iran should the current regime fall.  The people may see it otherwise.

Update: 1/10/26;  I don't know what they are waiting for.  The Ayatollah hasn't been newly heard from for several days, probably escaping to Russia with suitcases full of useless money worth nothing which is not going to help him get a hotel room, perhaps.   Trump offers his good wishes but no help even though some have been killed by the government, many in hospital.  Internet was completely cut off last night causing people to take to the streets since they could not watch any TV, and they joined the others there.  It's happened.

Update on Update 6:14pm:  Iran's foreign minister has fled with his family to Lebanon.

Life Before Ayatollas: Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, Friend Of Israel, The Shah of Iran

 Nadene Goldfoot

                                  The Shah of Iran (26 October 1919 – 27 July 1980),

My mother followed the life of the Shah of Iran like we followed Dianna and Charles of England.  Pahlavi had a sad love life being his first wife had not been able to conceive and he had loved her so much,  but he was forced to take another wife who did give him children.  My mother felt so sorry for the lovers.  At least that's how we heard it take place way over in Portland, Oregon, USA.

The Shah lighting a cigarette for his wife Soraya, 1950s

"The Shah and Soraya's marriage ended in 1958 when it became apparent that, even with help from medical doctors, she could not bear children. Soraya later told The New York Times that the Shah had no choice but to divorce her, and that he was heavy-hearted about the decision. "

The relations between Iran and Israel are divided into four major phases: the ambivalent period from 1947 to 1953, the friendly period during the era of the Pahlavi dynasty from 1953 to 1979, the worsening period following the Iranian Revolution from 1979 to 1990, and the ongoing period of open hostility since the end ...

Iran was known as Persia until 1935, when the Persian government officially changed the name of the country: The change to "Iran" was a deliberate attempt to reconnect with the country's ancient past and redefine its identity. It was also meant to distance Iran from colonial legacies and orientalist perspectives.  The new name, "Iran", was a historical name of the country and had been used internally for centuries. The name comes from the Persian word Aiyran, which means "land of Aryans".  Jewish people are very close to Persia, being their Queen Esther was married to the King, Ahasueros, which is the Purim Story where Esther saved the Jews from being internationally slaughtered due to the evil desires of Haman, 2nd in command to the king.

Iran in the 1960s and 70s was a tolerant place for the Jewish minority with one Iranian Jew, David Menasheri, remembering that Mohammad Reza's reign was the "golden age" for Iranian Jews when they were equals, and when the Iranian Jewish community was one of the wealthiest Jewish communities in the world. The Baha'i minority also did well after the bout of persecution in the mid-1950s ended with several Baha'i families rising to prominence in the world of Iranian business.

The Shah succeeded his father  in 1941 at age 22 when WWII was going strong against Jews,  and remained in power until he was 60 and was overthrown by the 1979 Iranian Revolution, which abolished the country's monarchy and established the Islamic Republic of Iran.   The Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, fled the country on January 16, 1979, after the Iranian Revolution gained momentum and his regime collapsed:

A young Shah with his twin sister, Ashraf, in the 1940s

His dream of what he referred to as a "Great Civilization"  in Iran led to his leadership over rapid industrial and military modernization, as well as economic and social reforms.   During Pahlavi's reign, the British-owned oil industry was nationalized by the prime minister Mohammad Mosaddegh, who had support from Iran's national parliament to do so.  Mohammad Reza spoke English, French, and German fluently, in addition to his native language of Persian, a Polyglot that  speaks multiple languages, usually considered to be more than two or three.

In 1963, Mohammad Reza introduced the White Revolution, a series of economic, social, and political reforms aimed at transforming Iran into a global power and modernizing the nation by nationalizing key industries and redistributing land.

Shah Mohammad Reza with his consort and crown prince after the coronation, 1967.

The regime also implemented Iranian nationalist policies establishing Cyrus the Great, the Cyrus Cylinder, and the Tomb of Cyrus the Great as popular symbols of Iran.  Cyrus II died in 529 BCE and was the King of Persia.  He had overrun the Babylonian Empire, including the land of the Jews, Judah.  He pursued an enlightened policy towards his subject peoples and in 538, granted permission to the exiles of Judah in Babylon to return to their homeland and rebuild the Temple (Ezra 1: 1-44;  II Chron. 36:22-3).  The Jewish exiles regarded Cyrus as a divine agent.  (Is.44:28; 45:1).  Cyrus was said to be the son of King Ahasueros and Queen Esther.

The Shah initiated major investments in infrastructure, subsidies and land grants for peasant populations, profit sharing for industrial workers, construction of nuclear facilities, nationalization of Iran's natural resources, and literacy programs which were considered some of the most effective in the world. Shah also instituted economic policy tariffs and preferential loans to Iranian businesses which sought to create an independent economy for the nation.

Likewise, the Iranian national income rose 423 times over, and the country saw an unprecedented rise in per capita income—which reached the highest level of any point in Iran's history—and high levels of urbanization. By 1977, Mohammad Reza's focus on defense spending, which he saw as a means to end foreign powers' intervention in the country, had culminated in the Iranian military standing as the world's fifth-strongest armed force.

                                        Petroleum Industry in Iran

Mohammad Mosaddegh
was an Iranian politician, author, and lawyer who served as the 30th Prime Minister of Iran from 1951 to 1953, elected by the 16th Majlis
.

Money and oil led to the Shah's downfall.  By the early 1950s, the political crisis brewing in Iran commanded the attention of British and American policy leaders. Following the 1950 Iranian legislative electionMohammad Mosaddegh was elected prime minister in 1951. He was committed to nationalising the Iranian petroleum industry controlled by the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company (AIOC) (formerly the Anglo-Persian Oil Company, or APOC). Under the leadership of Mosaddegh and his nationalist movement, the Iranian parliament unanimously voted to nationalise the oil industry, thus shutting out the immensely profitable AIOC , which was a pillar of Britain's economy and provided it political clout in the region.

                                      Khrushchev of Russia, a Communist

Eventually American decision-makers lost their patience, and by the time the Republican administration of President Dwight D. Eisenhower entered office, fears that communists were poised to overthrow the government became an all-consuming concern.   Shortly prior to the 1952 presidential election in the United States, the British government invited Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) officer Kermit Roosevelt Jr., to London to propose collaboration on a secret plan to force Mosaddegh from office. This would be the first of three "regime change" operations led by CIA director Allen Dulles .

In the aftermath of the 1953 coup d'état, Mohammad Reza was widely viewed as a figurehead monarch, and General Fazlollah Zahedi, the Prime Minister, saw himself and was viewed by others as the "strong man" of Iran.

American and British diplomats in their reports back to Washington and London in the 1950s were openly contemptuous of Mohammad Reza's ability to lead, calling the Shah a weak-willed and cowardly man who was incapable of making a decision. The contempt in which the Shah was held by Iranian elites led to a period in the mid-1950s where the elite displayed fissiparous tendencies, feuding amongst themselves now that Mossadegh had been overthrown, which ultimately allowed Mohammad Reza to play off various factions in the elite to assert himself as the nation's leader.

As a result of the growing number of Iranian intellectuals in the 1800s, the Ancient Persian Empire symbolized modernity and originality, while the Islamic period brought by Arab invasions brought Iran to a period of backwardness.

Ultimately these revelations in Iran would lead to the rise of Aryan nationalism in Iran and the perception of an 'intellectual awakening.  In Europe, many concepts of Aryan Nationalism were directed at the anti-Jewish sentiment.

                                   Map of Persian Empire

In contrast, Iran's Aryan nationalism was deeply rooted in Persian history and became synonymous with an anti-Arab sentiment instead. Furthermore, the Achaemenid and Sasanian periods were perceived as the real Persia, a Persia which commanded the respect of the world and was void of foreign culture before the Arab invasions.

In 1976, the Shah formally replaced the Islamic calendar with a Persian calendar. Religious discontent grew, and the shah became more repressive, using his brutal secret police force to suppress opposition. This alienated students and intellectuals in Iran, and support for Khomeini grew. Discontent was also rampant in the poor and middle classes, who felt that the economic developments of the White Revolution had only benefited the ruling elite. In 1978, anti-shah demonstrations broke out in Iran’s major cities.

Ruhollah Musavi Khomeini (17 May 1900 or 24 September 1902 – 3 June 1989) was an Iranian Islamic revolutionary, politician and religious leader who served as the first Supreme Leader of Iran from 1979 until his death in 1989. He was the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the main leader of the Iranian Revolution, which overthrew Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and ended the Iranian monarchy. Ideologically a Shia Islamist, Khomeini's religious and political ideas are known as Khomeinism.

Hoping to calm a situation, on 2 October 1978, the Shah granted a general amnesty to dissidents living abroad, including Ayatollah Khomeini. But by then it was too late. October 1978 was characterized by extreme unrest and open opposition to the monarchy; strikes paralyzed the country, and in early December a "total of 6 to 9 million"—more than 10% of the country—marched against the Shah throughout Iran.

Khomeini called for the shah's immediate overthrow, and on December 11 a group of soldiers mutinied and attacked the shah's security officers. With that, his regime collapsed and the shah fled. The shah traveled to several countries before entering the United States in October 1979 for medical treatment of his cancer.

Ali Khameneis:   As supreme leader, Khamenei has either direct or indirect control over the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government, as well as the military and media. All candidates for the Assembly of Experts, the presidency and the Majlis (Parliament) are vetted by the Guardian Council, whose members are selected directly or indirectly by the Supreme Leader of Iran. There have also been instances when the Guardian Council reversed its ban on particular people after being ordered to do so by Khamenei.  He is the guilty one of making war against Israel starting with October 7, 2023and even before that.  .

Now, after a 2nd Ayatollah, Iran seems to have had enough of not being a part of the world such as they were with the Shah.  The government has become even more despicable than ever anyone could imagine.  The people drove the Shah away and now they must do the same with the Ayatollah if they want freedom.

Today's "Persia" Inspired By Haman-Inspired Ayatollas

 Nadene Goldfoot

Jewish captives in Nebuchadnezzar's court-problems started here.

This was a  terrible event since the other 10 tribes had most of their population taken away by Shalmaneser and then Sargon of the Assyrians in 721 BCE, just 144 years earlier.  It was when the Assyrians who had been attacked by the Babylonians had gained their land.  Now the Babylonians were all-powerful.  Sargon had taken 27,290 Israelites to Assyria and Media, and then replaced them with Syrian and Babylonian prisoners.  At least they didn't waste life, they just traded prisoners for better prisoners. THEY TOOK ISRAEL'S BEST.

Nebuchadnezzar was a warrior-king, often described as the greatest military leader of the Neo-Babylonian empire, known as Kasdim or land of Shinar(Chaldees). He ruled from 605 – 562 BCE in the area around the Tigris-Euphrates basin. Nebuchadnezzar had inherited the Assyrian empire. He had Jews in Babylon alreadyNow there was quite a large population of Jews in Babylon.

Persia was once a powerful empire.  Jews first locked horns with them when the Babylonian Empire was then  conquered  by  King Cyrus of Persia in 538  BCE, and it had been Nebuchadnezzar of the Babylonians who had overcome the Jews and taken them to his land as slaves. So Cyrus did the Babylonians in, and freed the Jews.

Cyrus not only had overrun Persia but that also included Judah which was included in the package being Nebuchadnezzar had taken that land.  Now Cyrus had both.  Being Cyrus was so kind to the Jews, it was thought that perhaps he was the son of Esther and Ahasueros.

For the next 2 centuries, both the mass of Jews in Exile in Mesopotamia and in the homeland in Judah were under Persian rule.  It was under Cyrus that there took place the return from the exile to Judah which, however, continued to be a Persian province with some degree of local autonomy.

Cyrus II died in 529 BCE. He had had an enlightened policy towards his subject peoples and in 538 had granted permission to the exiles of Judah living in Babylon to return to their homeland and rebuild the Temple as told in (Ezra 1:1-44) and (II Chron. 36:22-3).  The Jewish exiles regarded Cyrus as a dlvine agent.

Haman expected everyone to bow, but Mordecai didn't

Haman, chief minister of Ahasuerus, king of Persia as told about in (Esther. 3-9 in the Bible/Tanakh.)is the evil element in our history.  His resentment of the independent attitude of Mordecai, the Jewish minister, led him to detest all Jews and he planned their annihilation.  He may have found out that Queen Esther was not only Jewish but the niece of Mordecai.  His scheme to kill all the Jews in the kingdom  was ended by Esther who spoke with her husband about it.  Haman's sons were hung along with him for plotting the slaughter of the king's citizens. This event was most important to the Jews as his plot actually started and Jews had been killed.  They remember it with Purim, which comes in the Spring.

King Solomon, son of King David

This is how the Empire of Israel was slowly sliced off;  the empire of former Egyptian slaves who became the most famous literate and wise kingdom in the Middle East, known of far and wide, even by Ethiopia whose queen had come to investigate for herself and became pregnant by King Solomon, left with his child to become king of Ethiopia later on.

Back in the days with the Shah of Iran and his family.  His fault with the reactionaries is that he was doing away with so much of Islamic practices.  He was becoming very Western.  He moved too fast for his people who held a revolution and won.  Wallah !-enter Ayatollas.

Persia has taken back their Persian name of Iran and find themselves in competition as the most powerful Islamic state which they have had to  prove to other Muslims by warring with Iraq in the 1980's to the point where they were using boys as soldiers, which Iraq was also forced to do.  Iran follows a different Islamic path than the other Moslem state do.  They are Shi'as and the others are Sunnis.  So they have several horses in the race for being the leader of Islam.  Saudi Arabia is their biggest contender.  Iran is run by an Ayatollah, a religious leader who dictates to their president, and the Ayatollah is very aware of Israel's rebirth and is full of hate for the tiny country.  It's the old saw come to life;  wanting to destroy Israel and its Jewish people.  Has Haman been reincarnated this way?  His goal sure has.

           #1  Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini 17 May 1900 – 3 June 1989)

A "firestorm started when Nazila Fathi, then the Tehran correspondent of The New York Times, reported on October 5, 2011,  a story almost six years previous, (in 2005)  that was headlined: “Wipe Israel ‘off the map’ Iranian says.” The article attributed newly elected Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s remarks to a report by the ISNA press agency. Ahmadinejad is the puppet under the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

The article sparked outrage around the globe, with then-President George W. Bush and other world leaders condemning Ahmadinejad’s statement. The original New York Times article noted that Ahmadinejad said he was quoting Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the leader of the Islamic revolution, but that aspect was largely overlooked". On February 1, 1979, the Ayatollah Khomeini returns to Iran in triumph after 15 years of exile. The shah and his family had fled the country two weeks before, and jubilant Iranian revolutionaries were eager to establish a fundamentalist Islamic government under Khomeini’s leadership.

"Iran’s 2nd supreme leader has called Israel a “cancerous tumor” that “will undoubtedly be uprooted and destroyed” in an annual speech in support of the Palestinians."  Iran wants to be the Muslim country freeing them.  That will put them in the lead, the best of all the other Muslim countries.  Said in 2020, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's speech marked a subdued Quds Day for Iran, which typically sees government-encouraged mass demonstrations in Tehran and elsewhere in the Islamic Republic, as well as Iranian-allied nations. “Al-Quds” is the Arabic name for Jerusalem.

TEHRAN — On May 8, 2021, Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Friday called Israel “not a country, but a terrorist base” during a speech on Al-Quds Day, an annual show of solidarity with the Palestinians.  Thousands massed for rallies across several Muslim-majority countries including Iraq, Yemen and Pakistan for the day, seen in Israel as an expression of hatred and anti-Semitism.

We've gone through 2 Ayatollahs behind the scenes of threatening Israel to the maximum of being destroyed.  There is no love lost between the two countries.  Iran started building a nuclear power plant in which to make a nuclear bomb they will use to destroy Israel.

Operation Opera (Hebrew: מבצע אופרה‎), also known as Operation Babylon, was a surprise airstrike conducted by the Israeli Air Force on 7 June 1981, which destroyed an unfinished Iraqi nuclear reactor located 17 kilometres (11 miles) southeast of Baghdad, Iraq.

Claiming responsibility. On 22 March 2018, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) officially took responsibility for destroying a nuclear reactor built in the northeastern Syrian province of Deir al-Zor in 2007 after a decade of ambiguity.
Amadinejad on his "horse" guiding it to hit Israel.

Here we see a long distance Iranian rocket aiming at Netanyahu whose shield is a Mogen David.

The Ayatolla could have started the plan of a nuclear plant by 1981, after Iraq's was ended by Israel.   The Iran nuclear agreement, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), is a landmark accord reached between Iran and several world powers, including the United States, in July 2015. Under its terms,
Iran agreed to dismantle much of its nuclear program and open its facilities to more extensive international inspections in exchange for billions of dollars’ worth of sanctions relief.  A lot of good that did. They didn't stick to their part of the bargain, so, Trump walked away.

Israel has learned through the ages, that the only people who will stand up for them and help in defense are themselves, which is why it was up to them to destroy the other two nuclear sites.  They were being built to take down Israel.
Countries in a very hot climate needed nuclear power like Oregon needs palm trees.  A nuclear power plant can give one thing;  powerful weapons of destruction.
                                  Vienna meeting in 2016
Iran lied and covered up their work in 2016.  Countries still think this can be salvaged, all but Iran, who wants all sanctions ended against them;  and Israel, who knows them too well.  No Pollyanna thoughts from Israel but reality.  Iran has placed their army  around  Israel in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, in order to reach their target in easier ways.  Israel is surrounded enough so has that as a worry besides the state of Iran being far-enough away in 2000, but not now.

Who was it who didn't understand that Germany was invading a European country?  In the infamous 1938 Munich Agreement, British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain agreed to Hitler's annexation of the Sudetenland, portions of of Czechoslovakia with ethnic-German majorities (Czechoslovakia itself was excluded from the negotiations). Chamberlain claimed that the deal had averted another massive European war, but it only delayed the conflict while making Hitler more powerful when the war finally came.  That's a move Israel will never forget, being they suffered the most from it.

AND IRAN STILL HAS THE CHUTZPAH TO GET  UP AND SAY THAT IT IS ISRAEL WHO IS ATTACKING THEM !!!.  Well, Israel is not blind, They see what Iran is up to.  They will protect themselves from harm.  They know who is supplyiing Gaza with rockets, missiles and mortars.  Iran!  iran wants to be the BIG SHOT AMONG HIS PEERS.

“Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei responded to all Israeli threats in 2013, saying, ‘Sometimes the leaders of the Zionist regime even threaten us; they are threatening to strike militarily, but I think they know it, and if they do not know it, they must know that if they make a mistake, the Islamic Republic will destroy Tel Aviv and Haifa.’”

Yair Zivan, an advisor to Foreign Minister Yair Lapid, tweeted, “Front page of the Iranian regime newspaper, Tehran Times, is a direct threat to indiscriminately attack Israeli civilians. Now just imagine what would happen if this fundamentalist regime was allowed to develop a nuclear weapon.”
