Churches for Middle East Peace With Sabeel in Anti-Semitic Action

Nadene Goldfoot
CMEP actually ignores any justice or peace for Israel-but it fools people by their poster.  Instead, they urged the Obama administration in a letter to reject language in bills now passed or pending that deliberately includes settlements in measures designed to support Israel, even though this has already been acted upon legally, dividing land into A,B,  and C areas telling where Israel is allowed to build.  They say their goal is a "secure Israel" and a "viable contiguous Palestine."   This means they are now designing the shape of Palestine themselves and it is to be all in one piece, touching,   Actually, I bet they'd like to give the Arabs Israel.  I should mention that Sabeel is a Christian Arab church who has had a lot of influence on these non-Middle eastern Christians who are on the Muslim's side of the issue.  They are urging Obama to condemn Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria.  After all, Palestine is to be Judenrein-free of Jews, and they are doing their utmost to bring this about, even though international law says that Jews have every right to be there.

They are putting in jeapardy 4 good-sized cities:  Israel has already completely evacuated their population out of Gaza in the name of peace, and has been given continual war instead.  They're not going to make that mistake again.

Evidently people associated with the 22 Churches of The Churches for Middle East Peace (CMEP)  know nothing about Israel's history.   CMEP was established in 1984, quite a formidable group growing out of "1984"  and "Brave New World, "  2 novels about the future-giving out vibes of "Big Brother is Watching You."

Arabs and Nazis in cahoots against Jews.  This is the chief riotmaker, Haj Amin al-Husseini, the Sherif of Jerusalem appointed by the Brits during their mandate period.  It's no wonder that Arabs have not been quick to accept a peaceful solution with the Jewish state of Israel.  The Germans have changed, but not the Palestinian Arabs who have leaders that keep them keyed up against Jews.
I am shocked at their naivety as to Israel's acts  to promote a 2-state solution that would work for both and their promoting peace that has been ignored.  How dare they think they can force Israel into a 2 state solution without any solution of peace?  You can't just slam-bam-thank you Israelis and Muslims --- and there are 2 states; Israel and Palestine.  They think that Obama can force the issue.  What a way to create a peaceful co-existence!   Fatah and Hamas can't even get along and they are forcing a 2 state solution!

Israel is the only Jewish nation in the world and is one of the tiniest states in the world. It has already lost 80% of expected land to Abdullah who created TransJordan and Jordan with it.   It started with Moses leading 600,000 Israelites and other slaves from Egypt back to their past homes from 400 years ago.  Judea was formed out of southern Israel when King Solomon died.  Samaria was the capital of Israel after Judah was created with Jerusalem as its capital.  Today Samaria includes the land of Israel surrounding the original capital as well.  Judea and Samaria are the original sites of Judaism with all their history and holy places.  Judea and Samaria were in the original plans of the Jewish Homeland.  Judea and Samaria are our history.  Whoever gave any thought to the importance of these places when Britain nonchalantly allowed them to go to Abdullah in the first place when they had been meeting for years about creating the Jewish National Home?

Christianity, in its origins, started by knocking Judaism and finding fault with it.  Many of the first Christians were Jews themselves bent on creating a new religion, and wound up blasting  their own religious beliefs of over 1,000 year old Judaism in the midst of horrid Roman occupation and terrible times.  To succeed in popularity, it even accosted Judaism's morality and brought this to a head in the Council of Nicea, held in 325 in what is today, Iznik, Turkey.  It was Emperor Constantine who convened this meeting and took part in what was the 1st meeting of Christian churches.  "Retaining the Bible while denying the people that was its subject, the Church declared itself the New Israel."  It sounds to me like CMEP thinks they are another council who can dictate what is to be.

"'Just as we are asked to recognize a nation-state for the Palestinian people, the Palestinians must be asked to recognize the nation-state of the Jewish people. The Jewish people are not foreign conquerors in the Land of Israel. This is the land of our forefathers."
- Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, September 2010

Today, 22 Churches have gone back to their original anti-Semitic values and have gone political again.  They sent a letter to President Obama asking him to condemn Israeli settlements in Judea and Samaria.  They also want him to support a French-initiated UN resolution to force a 2-state solution upon Israel.  I doubt if one of those members in the 22 churches happen to be international lawyers, but they certainly think they can push Israel around. They have over 100 partner churches.  Several are supporting the BDS movement of Boycotting, Divesting and putting Sanctions on Israel until it does what these organizers want.  The group of "Friends of Sabeel North America" are such a group.  Please note my article below about this group.  They are not urging the creation of a friendly state, but that of one who is an active enemy without any intentions of being peaceful. This is the crux of the problem.

Israel has had to fight in its War of Independence in their struggle for their national home from 1918 to 1948, even though they had every right to their state of Israel.  The League of Nations voted that they would have their Jewish Homeland. Their War of Independence went on from the 29th of November 1947 to 1949.

They fought again after being attacked in the Sinai War; October 29-November 5th 1956.

They fought in the Six Day War from June 5 to 11th 1967 after being attacked and won back Judea, Samaria, East Jerusalem, and the Golan Heights  in the course of winning against Jordan.  Jordan knew they had lost  Judea and Samaria, something the king's grandfather had taken  through England's double-crossing Israel with false promises.  All of Palestine was to become the Jewish Homeland in all the plans with Britain who held the mandate.  Now, Israel found themselves attacked and with super-human force, won the battle against all odds.  This must have been a disappointment to these 22 Church members; G-d siding with Jews?

CMEP is just plain hostile to Israel.  Do we ever hear them say anything about the the terrorist acts of Arabs and Muslim regimes in the region?  Of course not.  Do they ever notice the acts against human rights if the acts are against Jews, like shooting rockets, missiles and mortars into southern Israel?  Not at all.  They have remained silent.  They have a constant bias against Israel in their support of Palestinian Arabs.    Bethlehen has lost most of its Christian Arabs who have been replaced with Muslims belonging to Fatah, the former PLO terrorist group.

When they see Israel defending itself against the aggressive bombings and attacks of the Palestinian terrorists, they call it Israeli aggression.  In 2011, they wrote to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton asking her for help in gaining access to their holy places.  Israel has always had freedom of access to all religions' holy places.  It has been the Muslims who do not want to allow the Jews' theirs.  In their letter they talked about security restrictions on the Palestinians at places in Israel but never mentioned the fact that Jews cannot pray on the Temple Mount because of the Jordanian police and their rules they have created cutting Jews out.

Oslo Agreement and areas A,B,C

Area A is under full control of the Palestinian Authority and consists primarily of urban Palestinian areas.

Area B is under Palestinian civil control and shared Palestinian and Israeli security control and includes the vast majority of the Palestinian rural areas.
Area C is under full Israeli control. Palestinian agencies are responsible for education and healthcare.
Of course they had a fit when Netanyahu announced "They murder, we build."  The Palestinians murdered the 5 people of the Fogel family in Itamar.  That caused the Israeli cabinet to announce plans of building housing units in Judea/Samaria.  It's a terrific answer to their terror, yet g-d forbid according to these Christians that Jews should build in land they legally acquired after being attacked and winning.  This is something our international lawyers have pronounced as legal, however the rest of the world refuses to admit it.  They never have explained why our lawyers are wrong, either.   I know a gentile Radiologist who said that if it was up to him, every time the Palestinians shot a rocket/mortar/missile into Israel, Israel would react by building more apartment houses in Judea/Samaria.  I think Netanyhau got the message.

CMEP calls on Obama to End Israeli Occupation!  What occupation are they talking about?  Israel is not occupying Judea and Samaria.  The Israeli villages, towns and cities they refer to as "settlements"  have legal standing amongst international lawyers who know a lot about law.  There is no way CMEP has the knowledge to understand what is important to Israel's security.  They are only displaying their bias.

I note that these churches do not put any emphasis on promoting peace with Israel to the Palestinians. They give them no reason to quit shelling Israel and to try to be good neighbors.   It has only promoted Palestinians statehood, something these Arabs never sought until after 1967's losing the attack on Israel again at the urging of their Palestinian leaders around the world.  Israel has waited for 67 years for them to turn into peaceful people wanting the same joys out of life that they expect, but it hasn't happened.  What are the Palestinians doing right now?  Building tunnels to attack behind the lines and to kidnap people, most likely.  We know they've been doing things like this.

Israel cannot be expected to see 80% of her promised Holy Land-the Jewish Homeland, go to become Jordan and be happy about it, and then be expected to divide the remaining 20% in half and give that half to a terrorist organization who does not really want their own state.  What they want is to remove Israel!  If you ask me, the time has come and gone for another Palestinian state.  One exists already in Jordan.

Presbyterian Church Joins Islamic Sabeel Against Israel

Nadene Goldfoot

What else is going to happen?  Fatah just joined up with Hamas again.  Now that makes them both terrorists.  Assad knew that move would bring the peace talks to a halt.  Something always has happened over the past 66 years to stop any peace talks between the Arab Palestinians and Israel.

                                        Christian Theologians in Jerusalem

Christians who support Israel  are now called dangerous and a threat to Middle East "peace by other Christians ."  The name callers are  Presbyterian Protestant Christians, a Protestant denomination of 1,849,496 people as of 2012.  Their membership has been  going down.   This radical change in their church is due to the partnership between the Presbyterians and the Sabeel Ecumenical Liberation Theology Center in east Jerusalem that was founded in 1989.  They are now official partners.  The threat to the Middle East actually means that the Presbyterians  are rooting and doing everything they can to help the Arabs win against Israel.  They think that without Israel being there, everything will be peaceful, as if it always was a peaceful area before 1948.

Presbyterians have not done their homework on history of the Middle East and less on religion but instead have joined up with Sabeel's religious plan.   First of all, the Middle East is not an oasis of peace with a spring and date trees and belly dancers.  It's been a hub of wars over all the centuries when there was no Israel but just called Palestine. Hamas and Fatah are not interested in the Christian Arabs, either. They have their own Muslim agenda.

Sabeel, in Arabic (The Way) or (Channel or Spring), is a Christian liberation theology organization founded by a Palestinian Arab Anglican priest, Rev. Naim Ateek, the former Canon of St. George's Cathedral in Jerusalem.   They now have chapters in the USA, Canada, UK, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Ireland, France, Germany, Netherlands and Australia.   They aim to bring in the Palestinian Christians and their concerns, but how they are doing it is treasonable. They are generating hostility towards Israel by using theologically charged accusations at Judaism and Israel.  Sabeel rejects Zionism on theological grounds.  They promote the idea that Zionism is based on a false reading of the Bible and that it stands for injustice and is in opposition to G-d.   There are 1.7 million Arabs  that are citizens of Israel.  8% of them are Christians.  The rest are Muslims.

What they are is a political organization who want Israel to withdraw from Judea, Samaria and East Jerusalem.  They can't include Gaza as Israel already did that only to have Hamas terrorists take over and be dictating to their people and bombing southern Israel.   They call for Palestine to cover the whole 23%  of the land of Palestine.  Let's see.  Israel is sitting on 20% of the promised 100% because Jordan grabbed 80% in the beginning when Israel was fighting against all the states who had attacked them.  Evidently they are teaming up with Hamas and Fatah, but they want only Muslims in their Palestine.  Jews can't be allowed, they say.

A leader of all this is Dr. Gary Burge who believes in a form of "replacement Theology," which is really the cause of centuries of Christian anti-Semitism.  That's because some Christians have taken it upon themselves to think up this religious theory and that is that they have replaced the Jews in G-d's plan with themselves.  Seems it causes them a fit that the Jews were asked to carry the burden of being the light of the nations and lead the way in this fashion in following G-d's commandments on how to behave.  Jews don't go into actively converting people.  That was stopped long ago by the Christians themselves, but they follow Moses's original plan of just being the examples, the light.

The light must have been bright enough, for Christianity sprang out of it, followed by Islam.  Yes, Mohammad admired both groups and called them the "People of the Book."  He didn't have a book and might have felt bad about it being his people didn't have one, so lo and behold, he was also visited by the angel Gabriel who helped him to to write his Koran with the help of a scribe because he couldn't write it himself.

Now that everyone has their own book, the Presbyterians have thrown Judaism out with the trash and think that their way is the only way.  It's because we refuse to convert to their religion.  For us Jews, however, we made a covenant with G-d about 4,000 years ago and we're still going to keep it.  To us, the Abrahamic Covenant is an everlasting covenant.

This puts the Presbyterians in bed with such groups as Sabeel,  who is all for Palestinian Liberation Theology.  This started in South America because the Communists couldn't infiltrate the Roman Catholic Church so they created this new theology to talk people into their way of thinking.  The Presbyterians are now using a study guide calling for churches to stop using hymns and liturgy that use Biblical terms such as: Exodus, covenant, return, blossoming of the desert, Zion and Israel!  I think that erases most all of what Christians call " The Old Testament."   This is so unbelievable!  It makes me realize that these are indeed weird times we are living in.

This is the USA Presbyterian Church who has changed along with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Sabeel gets help in creating a Palestine without Israel and the Presbyterians become the new G-d's chosen people.  They can all live happily ever after.

Ateek said "Before the creation of the state of Israel, the Old Testament was considered to be an essential part of Christian Scripture, pointing and witnessing to Jesus.  Since the creation of the State, some Jewish and Christian interpreters have read the Old Testament largely as a Zionist text"...What he can't accept is that it looks like the words in the bible are coming true.  It was prophesied that Israel would be reborn.  This has concerned many to find such prophecy actually happening.  He went on, saying, "to such an extent that it has become almost repugnant to Palestinian Christians......How can the Old Testament be the Word of God in light of the Palestinian Christians' experience with its use to support Zionism?"

Yes, that is something, isn't it?  They want to erase the fact that this is happening, something that other Evangelical Christians are excited about.  Pastor Hagee is a big backer of Israel for his own theological reasons because this is happening.  Prophecy is being fullfilled.

Hagee said that for 1800 years Christian leaders ranted that "the church is the new Israel."  They pointed to the wandering, tormented Jews of the Diaspora saying, "If G-d is with them, why has this befallen them?"  They forgot that Jews were living in papal states controlled by the church of Rome, living without rights, property, legal redress, hman dignity in an environment created by the laws of the Roman church.  Replacement theologian ignore a fundamental fact in the biblical text.  When god replaces something, you never hear from it again.  God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, and they have never been rediscovered.  Jews have returned to their land since May 14, 1948 and were speaking 60 languages.  This state of Israel is a superstate in just 20 years and is not passing away.  Yes, this is bothering the replacement theorists.

There are Hamas and Fatah, joined together against Israel, and there is Sabeel and Presbyterians of the world, joined together against Israel with the latter attacking our religion as well.

Anti-Israel: Code Pink Ladies

Nadene Goldfoot
Don't let them fool you in that they aren't being anti-Israel.  In the chanting of this group, they called out:  "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free."  This is referring to the destruction of Israel.

These pinkies were protesting at a conference in Washington DC where AIPAC opened its 3 day policy conference.  The main protest at the front door was hosted by CODEPINK.  They said this was because of Israel's policies towards Palestinians and AIPAC's collusion in implementing these policies.

Of course they couldn't identify what policies they found repugnant or that they couldn't understand.  It's just a blanket abhorrence to Israel.

One of the speakers at the rally was  Alli McCracken who is the national Director for CODEPINK and told the Jerusalem Post that her group isn't anti-Israel but rather generally anti-war-and that freedom for all Palestinians and Israelis is its ultimate goal."  "She wants to see Israeli policies that don't actively harm Israel...and we think AIPAC is the primary organization that is promoting these awful policies."  This young lady is a protester of many things and her list includes drone warfare and  women's reproductive rights.  She lived in Judea-Samaria for several months and it looks like that's all she is concerned with, certainly not Israel.

Alli is a member of the Sabeel Conference and Witness Trip.  Sabeel is an Arabic word for "The Way. or channel." Supposedly it is an ecumenical center in East Jerusalem for Palestinian Liberation Theology which seeks to make the Gospel contextually revelant. As it turns out, the liturgy is demonizing Israel and Jews.

"While Sabeel’s use of the Passion to demonize Israel – in a worship liturgy – is troubling, there is another problem – the relentless tone of irresponsible self-pity that permeates the document. The way the Arab-Israeli conflict is described in the liturgy, nothing is the fault of the Palestinians or their Arab “supporters;” everything is Israel’s fault, and ultimately, there is nothing the Palestinians can do to improve their lot except enlist Christians in the U.S. in their efforts to demonize and isolate Israel."

Boy, does she have her facts mixed up.  Evidently she only speaks with Palestinians.  AIPAC backs Israel and the right they have to make their own policies.  They are not re-directing anything.   Israel is free, apart from the fact that they are heavily under the thumb of the USA, that is, who assists them.  Does she not realize that Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East and that the Palestinians have life better than they ever would have under another Arab country?  I doubt if either woman reads anything to answer their questions intelligently other than their anti-Israel propaganda.

Jodie Evans is co-founder and co-director of the group.  She "has been a peace, environmental, women’s rights and social justice activist for forty years."  She's an author and film producer as well as a woman on many boards. " She involves herself in conflict resolution by peaceful means, she says, but doesn't follow herself.  This has included leading "citizen diplomacy" delegations to Iran, the Gaza Strip, and Afghanistan."  Usually the one doing the leading gets the trip free.  Jodie is the widow of Max Palevsky and lives in California.  In 2009 she lead a protest in Santa Monica against Israeli cosmetics company,  Ahava.

"In March, 2010, during a book signing by Karl Rove, she and other Code Pink members caused disruptions. At one point, Evans charged the stage towards Rove with a pair of handcuffs, declaring that she was making a citizen's arrest.   In the summer of 2010, controversy arose over Evans' alleged 2008 remark to Debbie Lee, the mother of an American soldier killed in Iraq that “Your son deserved to die in Iraq if he was stupid enough to go over there.”  This extremely nasty comment shows no feeling at all for this mother to say such an outlandish and cruel  thing. "On January 30, 2011, Evans was arrested for disruptive behavior at a Rancho Mirage hotel where she was leading a protest against David H Koch and Charles G. Koch over their financial support of part of the Tea Party Movement.   All the good this woman may think she is doing has just flown out of the window.  A do-gooder she is not.  She's more like a meddler,  controller and trouble-maker.

"Since the start of the Occupy Wall Street Movement, CODEPINK activists have joined the front lines of the non-violent occupy movement across the country."   They get their pink  fingernails into everything.  I wonder if they ever cook a meal at home.  Easily agitated but hard to educate, these women have loud voices.
