Who Will Replace Richard Falk in UN?

Nadene Goldfoot
Indonesia's former UN ambassador, Dr.Makarim Wibisono,  is  likely to be picked as UN human rights monitor of the "Palestinian Territories"  after Richard Falk, 83 yr old UN rapporteur. It's a 6 year position.   Indonesia is the #1 country having the largest population among  the 48 Muslim majority countries.  Their population is 228,582,000 with 86.1% Sunni Muslims.

"Before becoming the special rapporteur, Falk was a member of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Inquiry Commission for the Palestinian territories."  Falk hasn't had a good thought about Israel in all the time he has served.  The rest of the world can break all sorts of laws towards their citizens but that's okay.  It's Israel he incessantly has picked on with the rest of the UN members cheering about it, so of course he's been their popular emissary.  The part that is horrid is that he's Jewish.  Oh, they love a Jew who hates Israel.  Falk stepped over the line with UN head Ban Ki-moon who had to condemn him for promoting the writings of 9/11 conspiracy theorists.  All the horrendous statements from him about Israel was okay, evidently, but a few did get criticized by Ban Ki-moon.  "He has been variously criticized by U.S. ambassador Susan Rice."

"Wibisono went to Gaza in 2010 to show support for Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of the Iranian-backed Hamas terrorist organization.
Wibisono has also demonstrated a disconcerting pattern and practice of one-sided and inflammatory statements targeting the Jewish state:
  • He has accused Israel of “unconscionable use of force against the Palestinians,” "untenable acts of aggression," and of having a "policy of retribution against the entire Palestinian nation."
  • Wibisono has referred to the “stark and brutal nature of the policies pursued by the occupying power,” accused Israel of being "the aggressor and the perpetrator of wanton violence," and repeatedly minimized Israeli suffering, speaking of “the handful of Israelis who have died,” and of Israel's battle with rocket and other terrorist attacks as a “flimsy pretext.”
  • Wibisono openly embraces what he calls the "sacred Palestinian cause."
  • "Dr. Wibisono held senior level positions in various capacities such as Chairman of the 61st United Nations Commission on Human Rights (2005), "
The talk has been that Falk's wife of the past 15 years would be his replacement.  She's Dr. Hilal Elver, a Research Professor of Global Studies at the U. of California in Santa Barbara.  She's been there since 2002. She's middle aged and Turkish which might explain some of their antagonism towards Israel since Erdogen hasn't been such a good friend lately.  He's noticeably made his own personal changes by being more favorable towards Sharia law and those that back it.  Anyone connected to Richard Falk would not be objective, as he's the most narrow minded and hateful person we've had in this position.  The wife must be a mirror of her husband's views.

Christina Cerna was already vetted to be the next replacement of Richard.  She is a Georgetown law school lecturer, but lobbying from the Arab states has stopped that choice.  Her background was that she was a Principal Human Rights Specialist, and served on an Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, and  an Adjunct Professor of Law with a BA from NY U, MA from Ludwig-Maximilian Universitat, JD from American U; LLM; Columbia U.

""The core issue, to be sure, is not the nominees, but the biased position itself," said UN Watch executive director Hillel Neuer."  Because it is a biased position, the UN has not had a problem finding biased people for that position.  In other words, the person is expected to be an attack dog against Israel.  That's what the UN Human Rights Council constantly harps on.

Update: 3/28/14   The bets are now changing.  It's between Christine Chinken, co-author of the Goldstone Report and Hilal Elver, "former Turkish government adviser as well as Falk's wife" to be the special rapporteur to replace Falk.  Amazing that the Arabs are backing Christine, a woman.  "The U.S. — if it is to live up to its pledge to use its UNHRC membership to fight bias, politicization and double standards — must take the floor, call a vote, and vote No.--If the U.S. fails to call a vote and stand up for what is right, it will have forfeited its moral justification for serving on a council that just elected Putin, the Castro regime, the Chinese Communist Party, and the House of Saud."

Falk's Mouth Full of Maliciousness

Nadene Goldfoot
The UN is being made a fool of by Richard Falk. His words are weapons.   First he blamed the Boston terror attack by two brothers from Russia on the USA and Israeli policies.  This attack came out of the blue during a marathon and the people participating or watching had nothing to do with any policies.  Nothing ever came out of the mouths of the attackers as to what their motives were.  We just know that they were influenced by Muslim extremists on internet. We've had this almost happen in Portland during Christmas but the FBI intervened just in time.  The Russian brothers' sudden allegiance to terrorism didn't go over well with their uncle who was very much against such an attitude.  Their relationship with him was severed before they attacked the marathon attendees.  The USA had been good to them.  Their father had sought asylum because he was afraid of being killed in his home country.  The boys had received the best education and even financial aid to make their life here comfortable.  They received only kindness.  This is how they paid our country back.  It's a matter of warped thinking.

Then Richard Falk justified the bombings as a form of resistance bound to  result from US military undertakings.  That is just plain sick.  But he's right, it does have results.  The results are that Americans are waking up to some hard and cold facts of life.  They are realizing that Islam is not all made up of a religion of peace if leaders are reading into it such actions that Falk commends. In fact, he's defending the act of terrorism.

Harming innocent people is a far cry from changing the world.  It is hardening our hearts. The kind and loving  family of Bill and Denise Richard is taking the brunt of these insane political agendas that is breaking our hearts.   Their 8 year old boy died in that blast.  His younger sister, age 7,  has undergone her 11th operation on her left leg which she lost below the knee.  That closed the wound and will allow for the eventual fitting of a prosthesis.  Hopefully she could be ready to be in the rehabilitation stage.  She still faces more surgeries.  The entire family was right by the bomb when it exploded.  One of the terrorists had looked right into their eyes as he laid the bomb down by their feet.  The mother still has not recovered sight in one eye.  The father is healing from shrapnel wounds and burns but has not yet recovered from a hearing loss. They are blessed by having  the older son, age 11, that was not injured.

In 2008, the United Nations Human Rights (UNHRC) appointed Falk to a six-year term as a United Nations Special Rapporteur on "the situation of human rights in the Palestinian Territories  that Israel had inherited after being attacked in 1967 in which the Arab nations lost and Israel won.   Some of his official reports, as well as other writings, have been criticized by United Nations secretary-general Ban Ki-moon and others.  He's due to be finished in 2014 which couldn't come fast enough.  It would save the world the pain of being accosted by his false accusations if he were just released from his position.  He really should be fired for spouting off like he does.  It's an affront to all those who lost their lives and have been maimed in such a senseless attack.  No one deserves terrorism.

The only good that can possibly come out of Richard's ravings is that one can see how his mind works.  Blame the USA instead of the culprits, the terrorists.  It's just like blaming the victims of rape and not the rapist.  Usually he blames Israel, regardless.  Israel treats people far better than any other country does in the Middle East, and probably even some places in the USA.  He always chooses Israel as the scapegoat and praises the Palestinians, no matter what.  He's no Solomon, that's for sure. Falk's been one-sided from the get go.

Falk has  no convictions of honesty or the capacity to differ between right and wrong actions. He reminds me of Ariel Castro, the man in Cleveland who held 3 girls prisoners for ten years and then blamed them for getting in his car with him for his insane acts.  This man can't accept blame.    Falk has no excuse.  The man of 82 years should be retired.  He's gone past the stage of being  a curmudgeon.   "There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing." Proverbs 12:18.

UN Watch is trying to get him dismissed from his position but many feel this will open the door for other countries that will try the same thing if they disagree with their statements.  That isn't the point.  Falk continually takes the same stand.  There is no measuring scale for him.  Israel is always wrong and the Palestinians are always right.  Now he's including the USA.  Isn't there anyone available who has the ability to judge fairly without prejudice in the UN?   That's the challenge they are supposed to take on.

When a Self Hating Jew Sides with Known Terrorists: That's Corruption

Nadene Goldfoot
In 2008, the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) appointed Falk to a six-year term as a United Nations Special Rapporteur on "the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967.

"The concept of the ‘self-hating Jew’ strengthens a narrow, ethnocentric view of the Jewish people. It exerts a monopoly over patriotism. It promotes a definition of Jewish identity which relies on the notion of an eternal enemy, and how much more dangerous when that enemy is a fifth column within the group. It plays on real fears of anti-Semitism and at the same time exaggerates the problem by claiming that critical Jews are ‘infected’ by it too.  However, there are ways to be positively critical which can be helpful.  The ways a self-hating Jew does it is destructive and is a decidedly great help to people who want to destroy Israel.  That is the difference.

Such a title on certain people or groups has been used for Jews who are against the stand that Israel has had to take to stay alive and not be "driven into the sea."  Chaim Weizmann once said at the beginning of Israel's existence around 1950 that "he was the president of 3 million presidents."  Jews are not good followers.  They seem to be all empowered with creative active minds that love to solve problems.  I think that there are some that are wearing sunglasses over their minds to keep out the dirty facts of life and what is happening to the one and only Jewish state in the world.  Perhaps they are the Lufmentch spoken about in stories about Chelm  whose minds are up in the clouds.  It's like dividing  people between those who see a glass as half full or half empty.  The difference of not understanding Israel, the only democratic nation in the Middle East is putting its life in jeopardy.  The people who live there are voters, and it's their life that is on the line; not someone living in the USA.  They want to live far more than their enemies who  know that they will go to their heaven and be greeted by 72 virgins.  A Jew toasts with L'chaim (to life).  For us it's life that's precious; not death.

Such a person against Israel is a self-hating Jew, Richard Falk, who was kicked out of the Human Rights Watch.  He is a 9/11 conspiracy theorist, so this also adds a layer to his psychological demeanor.  It's well known that this group only discusses Israel in great detail .  It's as if they are the only problem in the world, at a time when Syria, for example, has killed 60,000 of its own people.  But little Israel is the big bogeyman in the world.

The surprise is that the UN Human Rights Council postponed a debate on Israel's alleged violation.  Good grief!  The world went into a "state of apoplexy" when Israel asked for a postponement and "dared to miss a scheduled review session on January 29th.  In fact, as I understand, they decided not to allow the group into Israel at all because every time they have, they are condemned.  It took another group, the UN WATCH, to expose the Human Rights Groups' charges as rank hypocrisy.  Enough is enough!

Come to find out, Richard Falk was scheduled to present his report on Monday, March 18th, their day against Israel that has become a permanent feature of every session.  However, he will be skipping his scheduled appearance and postponing his report by several months.  Now the council will postpone their attack on Israel as well.  Their anti-Israel lobby  knows of a competing report on settlements they will use instead.  .

Falk had angered Ramallah (Abbas of Fatah) with his report's grant of UN standing with Hamas, who is thought of as the enemy of Fatah at times.  He had made stinging remarks about the PA and leader Mahmoud Abbas.  That is a switch, picking on one one the Palestinian groups.  It gives Israel and Fatah one thing in common, now: the chastisement from Falk!  But he's in agreement with Hamas!  They're the terrorists of the terrorists.  Falk had said that Hamas should do the investigations, and here  they are,  the vice to Fatah.  There is this pecking order Falk is not following.  Zuhairi, Palestinian deputy ambassador,  was very upset by this.  So he was thinking of blocking Falk's report anyway.

The council's so-called debates on Israel take on the process of a Stalinist show trial where the verdict is delivered in advance, and rapists and murderers parade as the prosecutors of justice.  They use a double standard about Israel in the first place.  The group is usually made up of Arab Muslims who have decided that Israel must be destroyed anyway.  They are not capable of deciding a thing about Israel fairly.  They display a "pathological prejudice against Israel" which makes the whole body of the UN's reputation stink.  With Richard Falk, who has been the worst accuser of all, it is quite realistic to call him a self-hating Jew.

We have no time for such people as Falk and other self-hating Jews. Maybe they don't care if there's a Jewish state in the world but 6 million Jews living there are dependant on it.   Even J Street has to realize a few facts.  " This has been war. Palestinian rockets have been slamming into major Israeli cities and we're only in a cease fire right now.  Israeli aircraft and  armor were firing on Gaza. A bombing rocked Jerusalem. All over the south, people have been taking cover since 2006 and praying.  The disgruntled should either move to Israel and vote, or start reading and joining classes to learn more about the situation.

I had moved to Israel in 1980 because I wanted to help.  I realized that this was the first time since we lost our country in 70 CE that we had a state where people could live without being treated with anti-Semitism.    The first time to have our own state in 2,000 years!  I was 13 years old then, the year of my confirmation!  Think of that.  After suffering in the Holocaust and losing 6 million people!  In our lifetime, Israel's life is the most important thing we can do to help.  Why would anybody hinder?   Every day it exists is a fight against tyranny.  So I kvetch when I see my native country act in any harmful way against Israel, whether by the President, or any on his council or any UN group and especially Richard Falk.
