Terror Attack: Co-Pilot Stabbing in Plane Heading For Israel

 Nadene Goldfoot

  • A passenger plane flying from the United Arab Emirates to Israel was diverted to Saudi Arabia after the co-pilot reportedly stabbed the plane’s captain in a possible attempted terror attack. This happened only several hours ago at 8:44am their time.  UAE is a member of the Abraham Accords with Israel and they have had good communications between each other.
  • It was said it was an Israeli plane, but the passenger plane was marked on the outside as a flydubai  (fly dubai) plane. Dubai is part of the UAE.   It was going from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Israel in Tel Aviv.  As far as I have found, there has been no passenger plane sold to UAE to be used as a passenger plane, they are used for cargo planes.  It must be used for UAE flights to Israel instead, calling it an Israeli plane.
  • The co-pilot was an Omani national.  He reached over and stabbed the pilot in mid-air. Oman, officially the Sultanate of Oman, is a country in the southeastern Arabian Peninsula in West Asia. It shares land borders with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. Since 1970, Oman has pursued a moderate foreign policy, and has expanded its diplomatic relations dramatically. Oman is among the very few Arab countries that have maintained friendly ties with Iran. Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi is the Sultanate's Minister of Foreign Affairs.  They have no Jews living in this country.
  • The plane then dropped 17,000 feet in 2 minutes over Jordan's airspace, causing a shuffle in the passenger area with lights off, etc, and fear.
  • There happened to be 2 relief pilots sitting in the back of the plane.  They immediately took over and landed the plane safely at the Tabuk airport in Saudi Arabia at 8:44am.
  • edit: 10:am  Israeli dentist Musaev Shota was one of three passengers who rushed toward the cockpit aboard Flydubai Flight FZ1073 as the Omani co-pilot allegedly tried to crash the aircraft. After helping overpower and restrain the suspected attacker, Shota turned to the badly wounded captain and provided emergency medical treatment that he says helped save his life.
  • The passengers, including 27 children and Israelis who helped overpower the suspected attacker, return after an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia; some initially refused another Flydubai flight but boarded after Riyadh rejected an Israeli rescue aircraft.

    • Edit: 10/1/2026, 8:58am,  Indian pilot Smit Machchhar is being hailed as a hero for saving everyone onboard after he was stabbed by his copilot, yet used his last bit of strength to unlock the cockpit door so passengers could overpower the attacker. (Times of Israel) One thing left out of much of reporting was that the passengers were mostly all Jews, Israelis going to Israel for Succot.  4 were American Jews or not.  FlyDubai has been the only airline who traveled since Oct.7th from Dubai to Israel and Israelis are very grateful.

    • FlyDubai is a budget airline that became a key global travel link for Israelis after Oct. 7 and during the war with Iran, flying dozens of weekly flights to Tel Aviv when many foreign carriers stopped flights to Israel. (JTA, Wall Street

    • edited  10/3/26 5:53am :  Revelations about terrorist pilot/ co-pilot, Hammam al-Hamami, whose attempt to crash a flydubai flight bound for Israel was thwarted at the last moment thanks to the quick thinking of Indian captain Smit Machchhar and Israeli passengers who rushed to subdue the attacker, are bringing the scale of the massive security failure into sharper focus.

Friend Oman and Iran, A Twosome Alerting Trump To Be On Guard Over Strait of Hormuz

 Nadene Goldfoot

President Donald Trump threatened Oman—a long-standing U.S. ally in the Middle East—stating that the U.S. would use military force if the Gulf nation "gets in the way" of American positions regarding the Strait of Hormuz.   Oman's friendship with the United States officially began in 1833, when the two nations signed a Treaty of Amity and Commerce. This made Oman one of the very first Arab nations to formally recognize and build diplomatic ties with the United States.

  • Strait Control: Tensions rose as Oman engaged in discussions with Iran regarding shipping and security arrangements in the strategic waterway.
  • Iranian leaders are claiming sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz and seeking permanent control of maritime traffic through it. This demand marks a significant expansion of Iranian war aims beyond just survival and denying the United States and its partners the accomplishment of their own objectives. Iran is now positioning itself to emerge from the war in a stronger strategic position, with veto power over who can access one of the most critical maritime chokepoints in the world. This arrangement would severely undermine the US position in the Middle East and jeopardize the security of US allies and partners globally, including those in Europe and the Indo-Pacific.Washington and its friends—from Europe to the Indo-Pacific—have a vital interest in securing the Strait of Hormuz and preventing Iran from holding hostage a critical artery of global trade. This reality holds regardless of how one feels about the war or the wisdom of launching it in the first place. The vital national interests of the United States and all its allies and partners, and of many neutral countries as well, require making securing full freedom of navigation through the strait a non-negotiable condition for ending the current war.
  • On Monday, as Iranian officials said they were close to announcing an agreement with Oman, a 60-day Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Washington and Tehran – which had provided for a period of peace talks but largely fell apart early on – expired with little hope for renewal.  This is not the first time Trump has threatened Oman, a US ally which has never entered into any direct conflict with the US.   Oman, through whose territorial waters the contested Strait of Hormuz also flows, has positioned itself as a neutral party in the US-Iran war. Despite that, it has suffered a number of strikes by Iran, which has targeted US military assets and infrastructure around the region in retaliation for US-Israeli attacks. As part of regional escalations and maritime disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian strikes and projectile attacks have targeted multiple ports, industrial zones, and commercial or military-linked infrastructure sites in Oman and its territorial waters.

  • U.S. Stance: The Trump administration insists the Strait of Hormuz must remain open international waters under broader U.S. oversight, rejecting joint regional management or fees.
  • Diplomatic Fallout: The threats coincided with the expiration of a 60-day window for broader U.S.-Iran peace negotiations.
  • Now, The United Arab Emirates said Tuesday (Today) that two ballistic missiles launched from Iran triggered missile alerts across the country, with both ultimately landing in the water. The Emirati Defense Ministry said its air defense systems detected the two missiles after warning sirens were activated and residents received alerts on their mobile phones.

William N. Robinson is a political analyst who is evidently against Israel, researcher, and consultant specializing in security, governance and political economy. He works with a Horn of Africa‑based war and human rights monitoring organization and holds research fellowships with policy institutes in the Middle East and New Zealand. Find him on Twitter/X @wrobinsonnz. He writes that there is no peace unless there is a Palestine, not accepting  how Israel has struggled to have peace with its neighbors ever since the 1920's when Husseini, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem was powerful and against the Jews creating Israel. The struggle includes the PLO with Arafat and now the October 7, 2023 slaughter of Jewish citizens done in the bloodiest manner possible for a human to do.  He must go along with the 1967 credo of wiping Israel's Jews into the Sea.  Any planning for a "Palestine" has been kyboshed. They signed a peace accord and still refuse to give up their arms, so they have broken that a well.  They are terrorists, never having the ability or right to have another country of their own.  They have attacking Israel continually; some neighbor they would make !!! They've bared their colors and they are not acceptable.  There was a time when Jews had wonderful plans for them as neighbors, but that has been buried for good now.

  • "The treaties marked a departure from the 1967 Khartoum Resolution's "Three No's" paradigm—no peace, no recognition and no negotiations with Israel—as well as the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative, which conditioned recognition on the establishment of a Palestinian state. In doing so, they deprived Palestinians of one of their few remaining sources of diplomatic leverage: the Arab consensus that Israel's regional integration must be contingent on ending its occupation of Palestine."  (Israel had the papers giving them the right to the land of Israel of which Britain gave away 75% of it to become Trans-Jordan, then just Jordan, so there is your Palestine, Mr. Robinson).

Oman and Israel Are Talking of Normalizing

     Nadene Goldfoot

Sultan Haitham bin Tariq  of Oman with US secretary of state Mike Pompeo, February 2020.

Oman, a small country of about 2,577,000 population as of 2011, almost part of Saudi Arabia, are talking with Israel.

Their foreign minister, Sayyid Badr al-Busaidi, just wants peace with Israel.  They have not been enemies other than all Muslim States have been against Israel up to recent days with the Abraham Accords.  The Abraham Accords are a series of joint normalization statements between Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain, effective since September 15, 2020.

Jordan and Egypt are also at peace with Israel.

Left;  PM Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel, President Donald Trump of USA, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan of UAE and Abdullatif bin Rashin Al Zayani of Bahrain.

Here they are on the White House’s South Lawn – the same spot where Bill Clinton famously stood in 1993 as the then Israeli prime minister, Yitzhak Rabin, and PLO chairman, Yasser Arafat, shook hands.

Mediated by the United States, the initial announcement of August 13, 2020, concerned only Israel and the United Arab Emirates  (UAE) before the announcement of a follow-up agreement between Israel and Bahrain on September 11, 2020. On September 15, 2020, the official signing ceremony for the Abraham Accords was hosted by the United States at the White House. As part of the dual agreements, both the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain recognized Israel's sovereignty, enabling the establishment of full diplomatic relations.
Nearly one year ago on September 15, 2020, the United States, United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain signed the historic Abraham Accords. With this accomplishment, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain charted a new course in the history of Arab-Israeli relations by recognizing the State of Israel and normalizing diplomatic relations.
Later that year, two other Arab nations, Sudan and Morocco, followed suit and joined the Abraham Accords, raising the number of Arab States with formal diplomatic ties to Israel from two to six. Yesterday with the new coalition government in Israel led by Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, there are new political realities at play.  Now Netanyahu is at the helm.  He will no doubt continue what Jerad Kushner and his father-in-law, President Donald Trump, initiated.

Oman shares land borders with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen, while sharing maritime borders with Iran and Pakistan. The coast is formed by the Arabian Sea on the southeast, and the Gulf of Oman on the northeast. The Madha and Musandam exclaves are surrounded by the United Arab Emirates on their land borders, with the Strait of Hormuz (which it shares with Iran) and the Gulf of Oman forming Musandam's coastal boundaries. Muscat is the nation's capital and largest city.

I would think their position would be very interesting to Israel, who already are members of the Abrahamic Accords with the UAE.  We have heard that Saudi Arabia is also finding interests with Israel quite possible and are dealing in certain areas with them.

They are not into the Abrahamic Accords as yet, just speaking of normalizing relations.  It was announced today on i24 News.  In 2011,, 93% of the people were Muslims  of the Kharijite persuasion.  Islam is a state religion there.  They had a large military power of 41,700.  Oman is playing down the talks with their foreign minister while Israel might be more hopeful about it.  A small step towards peace is always good.  Like the others, the Palestinians are #1 on the agenda with Israel.

Obama's Secrets Exposed About the Iranian Deal

    Nadene Goldfoot

Deals have been going on in the White House that the public hasn't known about, and are now coming out in the open thanks to reporters from MEMRI and others.  Obama won't consider a failure in his passing the bill about the Iran Deal because of all his secret meetings in the past going on behind our backs since 2011.

"The deal, Obama said, “is not built on trust, it is built on verification.” That's what we are worried about, the verification.  Most intelligent people see that it can't be verified with the 24 day stipulations of staying away from sites with the flimsy excuse that radioactive material makes noises and can be discovered after 24 days.  Anyone with half a brain does not take the word of Iran in a deal like this.  Not when they have threatened Israel with death and destruction.  Now we find out that Obama and Kerry  have not been truthful about their meetings with Iranians.

It seems as if John Kerry even before he became the Secretary of State, had been the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and had been asked in 2011 to negotiate with Iran about something other than the nuclear deal.  John had secret meetings with none other than then President Ahmadinejad, who hates Jews, and is a Holocaust denier, just like the Ayatollah.  In 2011 Obama let it be known through Kerry that he approved of Iran's right to operate a nuclear program. The Americans let it be known that they wanted to solve the nuclear issue and lift sanctions within 6 months while recognizing Iran as a nuclear power.

It was, of course, the Ayatollah who did not trust the Americans, but then agreed to look into it and negotiations began.   This was disclosed by the present Ayatollah of Iran, Ali Khamenei, who disagreed with Obama's statement that talks only began after the new President Rouhani was elected into this seat.  Interesting to see that we have 2 men saying they are telling the truth of a different timing that is most crucial.

According to Adam West, writer of my reference, John Kerry's letter to Iran said that the US recognizes Iran's rights regarding nuclear enrichment.  Then there were 2 more meetings in Oman between Iran and the US.  Sultan Qaboos of Oman was sent by Obama to Khamenei with Kerry's letter.  It was Sultan Qaboos who urged Khamenei to trust the USA again, but disagreed with the USA version of the story who said that it was on the basis of sanctions.

His Majesty, the Omani Sultan Qaboos b: 1940, When 20,  he entered The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst as an officer cadet.
Oman has been a broker in country's problems before. June 14th  news was that "Six detainees at the Guantanamo Bay detention center, including two alleged Usama bin Laden bodyguards, have been transferred to Oman, the Pentagon said Saturday.  “It’s extremely troubling that the Obama administration has sent six dangerous terrorists to Oman, which borders Yemen -- a country engulfed in civil war and that serves as the headquarters for al Qaeda’s most dangerous affiliate," said New Hampshire GOP Sen. Kelly Ayotte, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee." Oman is not big on human rights.  They jailed a man who wrote to the White House about it.

3 American hikers of July 31, 2009, were released through Oman's help 2 years later  "Each of the detainees was released after payment of 5 billion rial (about US $465,000)  bail was arranged by the Sultan of Oman..  Oman had helped negotiate the release of a kidnapped French woman. without having to pay any ransom.  "Oman borders Yemen and stands apart from its Gulf Arab neighbors in maintaining cordial relations with Iran which backs the Shiite Houthi rebels fighting in Yemen." Oman Air was used to evacuate US Embassy personnel like our Marine Security Guards from Yemen when the Houthi rebels pressed the city.  Adam West wants to know why the USA didn't use the USA Navy Amphibious Ready Group that sat off the coast of Yemen trained to do just this sort of evacuating of troops?  The USA actually broke established protocol to fly Marine and American personnel out of Oman and unlawful enemy combatants were then released to Oman.  Is there something going on between Obama and Oman?

So, this Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA "deal")  of 4 pages about what Iran is to do and not to do about nuclear material in their factories, had already been started in 2011.  Obama promised the Iranian that they could keep their nuclear program.  Why did he do that?  He's bound and determined to keep this promise  to the Ayatollah Khamenei.  He's not keeping his promise to Israel that if the deal wasn't the right deal, it would be shelved and that attacking the nuclear site was always an alternative and was still on the table.  As it was, Kerry didn't show me that he stopped anything from happening.  I saw the deal as giving, giving, giving in too much to be a useful deal.  Instead, now Iran will have economic sanctions lifted along with weapons embargoes lifted and will be free to pursue their goal of making atomic weapons to use on Israel.  This isn't statesmanship.  You know what it is.

"In 2007, when he was beginning his run for president, Senator Obama told a conference of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) that “the world must work to stop Iran’s uranium-enrichment program.”

"Under the deal, Iran will keep its entire nuclear infrastructure. After the IAEA certifies compliance with easy-to-meet requirements, U.N. Security Council resolutions pertaining to Iran’s nuclear program will be lifted and Tehran will get an estimated $100 billion in sanctions relief."

"ISRAEL: IF IRAN GETS NUKE, OBAMA PROMISES MEANS NOTHING."

They promised they had Israel's back.  What did that mean?  In April of this year, " President Obama conducted an interview over the weekend with the New York Times, in which he stated, “I would consider it a failure on my part, a fundamental failure of my presidency, if on my watch or as a consequence of work that I’ve done, Israel was rendered more vulnerable.” Obama added that allowing for Israel to be weakened would “not just” be a “strategic failure,” but also a “moral failure.”  Obama refused to include that Iran recognize Israel as a state.  His excuse is that they're only asking for the nuclear deal.  Well, Israel doesn't feel safe at all.  The deal has weakened and has opened the door for an atomic bomb attack coming in on a missile at any time they get it built.
