Built-In Bias of United Nations

 Nadene Goldfoot

                                                  United Nations Today

                                    United Nations 1952:

The General Assembly selected New York City as the site for the headquarters of the UN. Construction began on 14 September 1948 and the facility was completed on 9 October 1952. The Norwegian Foreign Minister, Trygve Lie, was the first elected UN secretary-general.  Lie supported the foundations of Israel and Indonesia. His passionate support for Israel included passing secret military and diplomatic information to Israeli officials.  Norway seems to have changed their minds towards Israel since then.  They had started with excellent relations.
Jonas Gahr Støre, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Norway, briefs reporters following a meeting of the donor community to the Palestinian Authority, whose aim said Mr. Støre, was to "mobilize support for Palestinian state-building". (21 Sept 2010)

Then, In 2010, the Norwegian Foreign Ministry said "Norway considers the Israeli presence in East Jerusalem to be in violation of international law, as does the entire international community." George Deek became chargé d'affaires at the embassy until the new ambassador Rafael Schultz started his mission in the summer of 2014.

Jerusalem was envisaged as a separate, international city under the 1947 UN partition plan. Biblical records show it was Israel's capital from King Saul on, almost 2,000 years before the Romans occupied and destroyed Jerusalem in 70 CE. Saul(?-1010 BCE) , David-reigned from (1010-970 BCE)  and Solomon (961-920 BCE)  were established kings known to all except those creating the UN.  Israel was, however, divided by the 1948 war that followed Israel's declaration of independence. As a result of the 1949 Armistice Agreements, the city's western half came under Israeli control, while its eastern half, containing the famed Old City, fell under Jordanian control, at the exception of Mount Scopus enclave. Israel occupied East Jerusalem during the 1967 Six-Day War; since then, the entire city has been under Israeli control. The 1980 Jerusalem Law declared unified Jerusalem the capital of Israel.

I can't describe the feeling we have for Jerusalem;  Christians have Jesus, Muslims have Mohammad, and we have Jerusalem, our center, place of our two temples, our original capital. Maybe Americans can feel something thinking about almost losing the White House of Washington DC and their country is only 249 years old...
Israel Katz was born in Ashkelon;, Israel.   His parents, Meir Katz and Malka ((Nira) née Deutsch), were Holocaust survivors from the region of Maramureș, Romania. He was raised on Moshav Kfar Ahim. He was drafted into the Israel Defense Force in 1973 and served in the Paratroopers Brigade as a soldier and squad leader. In 1976, he completed Officer Candidate School and returned to the Paratroopers Brigade as a platoon leader. After his discharge in 1977, he studied at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and graduated with a BA and MA.

On 22 May 2024, Israel's Foreign Minister, Israel Katz, announced the recall of the Norwegian Ambassador, Per Egil Selvaag, following the Norwegian government's intention to recognize the State of Palestine on 28 May 2024. On 8 August 2024, Katz announced further sanctions and revoked the diplomatic status of Norwegian officials who were posted to serve in Norway's representative office in the PA.

In February 2025, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz suggested that some Palestinians from Gaza should immigrate to Norway.

The major countries that played a key role in establishing the League of Nations at the end of WWI in 1917 were Great Britain, France, Italy, Japan, and the United States. These nations, part of the victorious Allied powers, were also the permanent members of the League's Council.

No, Transjordan was not a member of the League of Nations. While it was a British mandate under the League of Nations, Transjordan did not become a member state of the League itself. Transjordan's independence was recognized by the League of Nations in 1946, but it was not a member of the organization.

British Delegates to League of Nations January 1, 1924  The League of Nations was headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. It was established after World War I as an international organization to promote peace and resolve disputes between nations.  Depending on these "warriors" to speak out for Israel and Jerusalem?

Winston Churchill who died in 1965 at 91 was just getting started.  As a young politician, Churchill opposed restrictions on Jewish immigration to Britain and supported the Balfour Declaration in 1917, which recognized the principle of establishing a Jewish National Home in Palestine. In 1921, he defended the declaration against criticism from Palestinian Arab leaders and insisted that it was "manifestly right" for the Jews to have a national home in Palestine. Churchill's visit to Palestine in 1921, including Jerusalem, further cemented his commitment to Zionism and his belief in the idea of a Jewish National Home. During the 1930s, as Britain increasingly turned against Zionism, Churchill became a leading Gentile Zionist, feeling a personal bond with the Jews and Zionists who were facing hardship.

In 1922, the League of Nations did approve the British Mandate for Palestine, which included the Balfour Declaration, which expressed support for the establishment of a Jewish national home in Palestine. This mandate gave Britain the authority to administer the area, laying the groundwork for the future state of Israel. The State of Israel was not established until 1948 and was formally recognized as a state by the United Nations in 1949.

The British Mandate for Palestine, which included the Balfour Declaration, aimed to facilitate the establishment of a Jewish national home in Palestine while also protecting the rights of the existing Arab population. The mandate specified that the Mandatory power (Britain) was responsible for creating conditions that would secure this national home and encourage self-governing institutions, while also safeguarding the civil and religious rights of all inhabitants, regardless of race or religion.

The Brits didn't follow the mandate, however.  They did all they could to help more Arabs stay in Palestine while keeping Jews out. It set out British support for the creation of a homeland for the Jewish people in Palestine. But when the Balfour Declaration was signed, the British had already promised Palestine to Arabs as an independent state and promised the French government that it would be an internationally administered zone.  You see, the French also had a mandate for Lebanon.  The French holding mandate for Lebanon, a period of French administration, lasted from 1920 to 1946, during which the area was governed by the French as part of the League of Nations Mandate for Syria and the Lebanon. This mandate was established after World War I, following the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, and was intended to oversee the transition of Lebanon to self-governance.

The UN headquarters is located in New York City, USA, specifically in the Turtle Bay neighborhood of Midtown Manhattan. Construction began in 1949 and was completed in 1952.  The UN headquarters is a complex of buildings, including the Secretariat building, the General Assembly building, the Conference building, and the Dag Hammarskjöld Library. It is situated on an 18-acre site on the eastern shore of Manhattan Island, bordering First Avenue, 42nd Street, 48th Street, and the East River.

The United Nations currently has 193 member states. These member states are the backbone of the UN's global efforts to maintain international peace and security, foster friendly relations among nations, and promote international cooperation.

The major countries that were instrumental in founding the United Nations were the Republic of China, France, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States. These nations, along with 46 other countries, ratified the UN Charter, bringing the organization into existence on October 24, 1945.

Israel 11 May 1949:

Transjordan (later renamed Jordan) became a member of the United Nations on June 26, 1946.

Jordan was accepted into the United Nations on December 14, 1955. Jordan was a member of the Arab League at the time of its UN membership.

13 countries changed their voting pattern at the United Nations on Tuesday, voting against an annual resolution that supports a pro-Palestinian U.N. agency. (December 4, 2019)

Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, Greece, Lithuania, Netherlands, Romania, Slovakia, Brazil and Colombia,   which usually abstain, that was a vote in favor of Israel, voted against the resolution regarding the Division of Palestinian Rights at the UN Secretariat, The Times of Israel reported. The United Kingdom, France and Spain abstained meaning they didn't commit themselves either way, thinking more about themselves than Israel's position.

The resolution, co-sponsored by Comoros, Cuba, Indonesia, Jordan, Kuwait, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen, still passed with a vote of 87 to 54, with 23 abstentions.  This was a vote against Israel.  I'm surprised that UAE voted against Israel being they are part of the Abraham Accords.  This is very disappointing to me.

However, according to the U.N. Watch NGO, five anti-Israel resolutions did pass in the General Assembly in a full-day session connected to the U.N.’s “Palestine Day,” held on Nov. 29. In one vote, on a resolution demanding that Israel withdraw from the Golan Heights, the margin was wide, with 91 in favor to nine against, with 65 abstentions. Brazil changed its vote from yes last year to no this year, while the United Kingdom again voted no this year, according to U.N. Watch.  Separately, Israel’s U.N. mission is calling for the recognition of 850,000 Jewish refugees from Arab countries and Iran. Israeli Ambassador to the U.N. Danny Danon announced on Tuesday that he intends to submit a resolution resolution recognizing Jewish refugees from Arab countries, according to a report in The Jerusalem Post.“There were an estimated 850,000 Jews who were forced out of Arab countries and Iran and became refugees in the 20th century,” said Danon.“These Jews were subject to brutal attacks and harassment and were forced to flee, leaving everything behind: in Iraq, Egypt, Morocco, Iran, and many other countries. And still, we don’t hear the international community speak of them when they discuss the refugees of the conflict, perhaps because it doesn’t serve the Palestinian narrative,” he said.“Israel took in these refugees and integrated them into our society,” he added.

UN AGENCIES BIAS UNCOVERED

Pervasive Anti-Israel Bias in UN Agencies? Judge for yourself

UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees):  one of many listed at this site

During the IDF operation in Gaza following the 7 October attack, a wealth of new intelligence has been gathered which exposed the involvement of United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) employees in the October 7th massacre and the deep infiltration by those terror organizations, particularly Hamas, into the ranks of UNRWA. Instead of addressing this unprecedented scandal, UNRWA and the UN have attempted to whitewash these findings, downplaying the extent of the problem as a case of "a few rotten apples". No investigation was launched into the allegations of a widespread terror infiltration, including of UNRWA's education system. Until today, eight months into this crisis, UNRWA's leadership has not declared publicly the most obvious commitment: that any UN employee found to be involved with Hamas or Islamic Jihad will be fired. This official Israeli government website provides all the information on this ongoing affair.

What "Y" DNA Haplogroups Could Be from Vikings?

 Nadene Goldfoot

The influence of Viking-Age migrants to the British Isles is obvious in archaeological and place-names evidence, but their demographic impact has been unclear. Autosomal genetic analyses support Norse Viking contributions to parts of Britain, but show no signal corresponding to the Danelaw, the region under Scandinavian administrative control from the ninth to eleventh centuries.  People would scream, "The Danes are here!"

Y-chromosome haplogroup R1a1 has been considered as a possible marker for Viking migrations because of its high frequency in peninsular Scandinavia (Norway and Sweden). Here we select ten Y-SNPs to discriminate informatively among hg R1a1 sub-haplogroups in Europe, analyze these in 619 hg R1a1 Y chromosomes including 163 from the British Isles, and also type 23 short-tandem repeats (Y-STRs) to assess internal diversity.

The influence of Viking-age Scandinavian migrations on the British Isles is abundantly demonstrated by archaeological finds [1] and linguistic evidence embedded in place names [2]. ‘Danelaw’ is an early eleventh century term for the part of northern and eastern England that came under the control of various Scandinavian rulers following a peace treaty agreed by the West Saxon king Alfred (d. 899 CE), and the Viking leader Guthrum (d. 890 CE) (Fig. 1a). It shows a high density of contemporary Scandinavian metalwork items [3], and high proportions of Scandinavian major and minor place names [2]. This pervasive Scandinavian cultural influence has been argued to indicate the impact of substantial numbers of Viking settlers [4], not just local cultural shift under an incoming elite. Despite its name, the Danelaw presents good evidence of a variety of Scandinavian influences, not restricted to the modern category of Danes. This is reflected in place names (such as Normanton and Normanby) that contain Old West Norse (corresponding to modern Norwegian) forms [5], as well as in finds of artefacts typical of the Irish Sea region, including, for example, stone sculpture in Derbyshire [6].

Today, Q-L804 is found mainly in Norway and Sweden and in regions of North West Europe of Viking Age Expansion (British Isles, Atlantic Isles, Northern Germany, Normandy and Poland). The Q-L804 is also found among descendants of Scandinavian immigrants to North America.

Some Jews are also found with a Q haplogroup.  Our father's line in Q-BZ67, and his line was from Lithuania and incorporated people, matches also from Poland and Ukraine.  Goldfoot had been Goldfus, originating from Germany.  The ironic factor is that our mother's mother was from Lumsheden, Sweden, and those males could have also been of the Q line, but that is a rare possibility of being another Q branch.

Q is said to have originated during the ice age in Central Asia, then spreading to Siberia, over Bering strait and towards the Middle East.

After the ice age, Scandinavia was populated both from South and from Northwest via Ural, so the Nordic population is a mix of this meeting. The Geats and Gutnish in Sweden have the highest amount of Q1a in Europe (5%), in a Scandinavian version from the time of the Indo European invasion, which was later spread with the Vikings. The other Scandinavian version is Germanic, mainly in Norway, France and Britain and probably Mesolithic too (L527+L804). L330 is the main Mongolian subclade and M3 the native American one, which separated 13.000 years ago. Expedita has no mention of Huns and Scandinavian Q, because they do not coincide:

Haplogroup Q (Y-DNA)

Mongols, Huns and Turkic people did not migrate to Scandinavia then or later, but to East Central Europe (L712). And Finnish people have small amounts of both R and Q, and they came from the Urals, adding N to the Nordic mix, which amounts to 15% in Sweden and North Norway and 40-60% in Finland and the Baltics.

                      2    Lumsheden vacation rentals

Lumsheden, Dalarna County,  Sweden,  a tiny village of my maternal grandmother's birthplace, was said to have been populated first by a run-away priest with 2 women, sounding like the story-line of :  The Last Kingdom by Netflix.

The longships arrived on 8 June. The monks at Lindisfarne didn't know it then - the year was 793 - but it was the beginning of 300 years of bloody Viking raids on Britain and Ireland.

"Never before has such terror appeared in Britain as we have now suffered from a pagan race," Alcuin of York wrote at the time. "The heathens poured out the blood of saints around the altar, and trampled on the bodies of saints in the temple of God, like dung in the streets."  Yes, they were bloodthirsty is the answer, and "The Last Empire" shows it all.  You have to be strong and prepared to watch.  Be thankful we weren't born during this period.

"The Last Empire" is a Netflix production about  the 11th century.  The year is 866, and the Great Heathen Army's arrival in Britain is about to redefine the relationship between Vikings and Anglo-Saxons. Following establishment of Danish rule in Jórvík and East Anglia, the show largely focuses on the resistance of the Kingdom of Wessex to ongoing Viking incursions to Southern England. The story covers about 40–45 years by the end of season 4.

Another Viking themed production, called "Vikings", on Netflix,  aired its final episode in late 2020 after giving us six glorious seasons of unmatched action, drama, and wild romance delivered by a flawless cast. Michael Hirst's ("The Tudors") part-mythological, part-historical drama tells the story of the legendary Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel), who rises to fame and power with successful raids throughout Scandinavia, England, and France. Along with him are his wife, the shield-maiden Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick), his jealous and vindictive brother, Rollo (Clive Standen), his loyal friend and craftsman, Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård), and many others.

Swedish men are not entirely all from the Vikings.

16 Y-chromosomal binary markers and nine Y-chromosome short tandem repeats were analyzed in a total of 383 unrelated males from seven different Swedish regions, one Finnish region and a Swedish Saami population in order to address questions about the origin and genetic structure of the present day population in Sweden. Haplogroup I1a* was found to be the most common haplogroup in Sweden and accounted, together with haplogroups R1b3, R1a1 and N3, for over 80% of the male lineages. Within Sweden, a minor stratification was found in which the northern region Västerbotten differed significantly (P<0.05) from the other Swedish regions. A flow of N3 chromosomes into Västerbotten mainly from Saami and Finnish populations could be one explanation for this stratification.

However, the demographic history of Västerbotten involving a significant male absence during the 17th Century may also have had a large impact. Immigration of young men from elsewhere to Värmland at the same time, can be responsible for a similar deviation with I1a* haplotypes.

Y chromosomes within haplogroup R1b3 were found to have the highest STR variation among all haplogroups and could thus be considered to be one of the earliest major male lineages present in Sweden. Regional haplotype variation, within R1b3, also showed a difference between two regions in the south of Sweden. This can also be traced from historical time and is visible in archaeological material. Overall this Y chromosome study provides interesting information about the genetic patterns and demographic events in the Swedish population.

R1a1, R1b, and R1a1a or R1a-CTS6 is the Levite haplogroup.  Read www.levitedna.org. for more information. Jeff Wexler discovered this line of Ashkenazi Levites.  Analyses posted here. R1a1 is common among Ukrainians-thought to have originated there, Russians, and Serbs (Slavic speakers in Germany, as well as among Central Asian populations with admixture possible with Ukrainians, Poles or Russians.

A later 2005 study by Nebel et al., found a similar

level of 11.5% of male Ashkenazim belonging

 to R1a1a (M17+), the dominant Y-chromosome

haplogroup in Central and Eastern Europeans.; R-

M269; R1b1a2a; R-V88 are found among Jews.  R-L47-from R1a, Jewish

Couldn't R1a1 and R1b3 be the major haplogroup for the Vikings?
