Critical Race Theory Teaching Against Zionism in California

This new Critical Race Theory Unit introduced all over the USA, is 

supposed to help students be more tolerant of each other, I was led 

to believe, but it is now just creating more anti-

Semitism in California.                   

"Under the guise of a new law mandating ethnic studies “training” in 

California, a group dedicated to the tenets of critical race theory—

and especially its most vile component, antisemitic opposition to 

the Jewish state—are marketing a curriculum that viciously 

maligns Israel and attacks Israel’s very reason for 

being."

                                           

This statement comes from FLAME.  FLAME (Facts and Logic 

About the Middle East) has for over 25 years brought the 

truth about Israel and the Middle East conflict to the attention 

of an American public that is mostly uninformed and 

misinformed about these matters. The media — both print and 

broadcast — are with few exceptions biased against Israel.

                                                

Theodor Herzl was an Austro-Hungarian Jewish lawyer, journalist, playwright, political activist, and writer who was the father of modern political Zionism. Herzl formed the Zionist Organization and promoted Jewish immigration to Palestine in an effort to form a Jewish state.

The law raises a fundamental question as to whether Zionism—a 

belief supporting the self-determination of the Jewish people to a 

state in their indigenous homeland—is protected by the laws of our 

land.                                      

Wikipedia says about FLAME:  Facts and Logic About the 

Middle East (FLAME) is a non-profit pro-Israel organization 

based in San Francisco, California. It was founded by Gerardo 

Joffe and began as a local chapter of the pro-Israel media 

watchdog group CAMERA. By 1987 the ads, which had 

appeared using the CAMERA name were now sponsored 

by FLAME, an independent organization. Its stated purpose 

is "the research and publication of the facts regarding 

developments in the Middle East and exposing false 

propaganda that might harm the interests of the United States 

and its allies in that area of the world." CAMERA specialized 

in monitoring and attaining corrections. Its 

stated purpose is "the research and publication of the facts 

regarding developments in the Middle East and exposing false 

propaganda that might harm the interests of the United States 

and its allies in that area of the world."  

California recently passed AB 101, a statute requiring that graduates 

of high school must have taken a class in ethnic studies.

After years of wrangling between citizen groups, teachers’ unions 

and legislators aimed at eliminating racial bias in any such ethnic 

studies curriculum, the bill was passed, which included a model 

ethnic studies curriculum that assuaged most of the interest groups.

Unfortunately, the model was only offered as an example of an 

acceptable curriculum—not mandated.

                                               

Unfortunately, too, one of the leading developers of ethnic 

studies curricula in California—Liberated Ethnic Studies 

Model Curriculum Consortium (LESMCC)—

believes the proposed model is woefully unacceptable and is 

marketing a curriculum steeped in racially biased principles, 

including utter disdain for Zionism and 

the modern state of Israel.

An attack on Jewish diners outside a Beverly Grove restaurant by members of a pro-Palestinian caravan Tuesday night is being investigated by police as a possible hate crime.  The incident, which Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson Nicolas Prange said was originally reported as a large group fight, occurred shortly before 10 p.m. outside the Sushi Fumi restaurant in the 300 block of North La Cienega Boulevard.  The incident was captured on video and shared with KTLA by a viewer who wished to remain anonymous.  I'm using a Jewish restaurant picture.

3% of California are Jewish with 1,187,993 Jews in 2020. California has had an 82% increase of attacks on Jews according to ADL.

                                       

New York  Jewish victim: 9.1% Jewish population with 1,772,420.

An Orthodox Jewish man, Josef Neumann of New York City,  hacked viciously by a machete-swinging anti-Semite will likely remain brain-damaged and paralyzed for life — even if he somehow regains consciousness, his heartbroken family said Wednesday. New York is at an all time high in Jews being attacked.           

Conspicuously absent from this list are Jewish 

Americans and Middle Eastern Jews living in 

California, especially since Jews are the targets 

of more hate crimes than any other ethnic group in 

California.  

Even more telling, Palestinian Arabs have been—against all 

geographic logic—squeezed into the AA/PI category, (Asian/Pacific American or Asian/Pacific Islander or Asian American and Pacific Islanders or Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander is a term sometimes used in the United States when including both Asian and Pacific Islander Americans.)

while Jews, the indigenous people of the same Middle 

East region, are excluded.

Most egregiously, according to LESMCC’s website, its model 

curriculum shamelessly asserts that “Zionism is a nationalist, 

colonial ideology.”  (LIBERATED ETHNIC STUDIES MODEL CURRICULUM CONSORTIUM - LESMCC)

But LESMCC’s vision is not just anti-Zionist. It is fundamentally 

based in critical race theory—CRT—

which holds that race and ethnicity should be the primary distinctions in social organization and that the focus of all political action 

should be on power struggles among racial, ethnic 

and “marginalized” groups.

Somebody should inform LESMCC that they are 

hurting Jews, who are the very people who first 

helped Blacks in their rights as citizens.

Famous Trumpeter, Herb Alpert of Tijuana Brass Band, , Son of Ukrainian Immigrants

Herb Alpert,  born March 31, 1935 in the Boyle Heights section of Eastside Los Angeles, California; 

Son of Tillie Goldberg and Louis Leib Alpert from Radomyshi, Ukraine and Romania, Jewish immigrants to the States.  They married on June 30, 1925, In Los Angeles.  

 Radomyshl is a historic city in Zhytomyr Raion, Zhytomyr Oblast of northern Ukraine. Prior to 2020, it was the administrative center of the former Radomyshl Raion, and is located on the left bank of Teteriv River, a right tributary of Dnieper River. Its population is approximately 13,973. So it was the Alperts that came from Ukraine.

I was just talking with Victor Sharpe, writer, musician, and he reminded me of Herb Alpert, of the Tijuana Brass band of Brazil, we think it was.    "Alpert" is the surname of a genealogist who has found many of her relatives through using DNA testing with Family Tree DNA.  I'm her 3rd cousin, found in this testing process.  

                                               

 Creator and innovator, musician and producer, artist, and philanthropist, Herb Alpert is a man with a profound passion and may be her relative, as her maiden name is Alpert.  She has been able to trace her family line back to RASHI, the famous rabbi of France.

Herb Alpert is an American Jazz musician who maintains a second career as an abstract expressionist painter and sculptor. During the height of his music career, he began painting, and in the early 1980s, he began to sculpt as well. His paintings and sculpture, though a different art form, still speak to his love of music and his musical style. His sculpture has been termed “lyrical” and his latest works are meant to capture the feeling he gets when he plays jazz. They are improvisational, much like jazz, and he says he gets the same rush of energy and the same satisfaction from creating visual art as he does from creating musical art.

Herb Alpert has continually explored other artistic ventures, always acknowledging a connection between music and visual art in his creative process. Alpert explains, “There is a certain satisfaction and energy that comes from playing the horn – a feeling that I am really in my element. I am passionate about what I am doing, whether painting, sculpting or playing the trumpet. I am just trying to create whatever comes out in the spontaneity of the moment.”

Broadway theatre is another arena in which Alpert has enjoyed success. His producing credits include the Tony Award/Pulitzer Prize-winning production of Tony Kushner’s Angels in America, Jelly’s Last Jam, Arthur Miller’s Broken Glass, August Wilson’s Seven Guitars and The Boy from Oz.

With his desire to bring the arts back to young people, the Herb Alpert Foundation is helping to change the educational environment.  The Herb Alpert Foundation supports a number of educational, arts and compassion oriented programs, dedicated to serving young people to help them reach their potential and lead productive, fulfilling lives and to support their unique creative energies and special talents. HAF supports young people to live free from prejudice and, with its many programs, nurtures a capacity for empathy, compassion, mutual respect, tolerance and kindness.

The Herb Alpert Foundation, which Herb created with his wife Lani Hall Alpert in 1985, was instrumental in establishing the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz graduate program at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music. The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, founded with an endowment from the Foundation in 2007, aspires to educate the whole student through productive collaborations between performance and scholarship and preparatory training for a broad range of careers in music.

                         Herb Alpert and Singer, Lani Hall: Mimi Pollack wrote-as a young teen, Sergio Mendes and Brasil’66’s first album came out. The lead singer was Lani Hall, Alpert’s future wife, married in 1974. I marveled at her voice and sang along to “Mas Que Nada.”She sang in Portuguese and English.

In 2008, through an endowment from the Foundation, the school of music at CalArts was named for Herb Alpert. This gift continues to support music scholarships, endow three faculty chairs, and fund faculty programs at a school known for its rigorous training in a variety of musical styles and cultures. Continuing their support of arts education, the Foundation created an endowment in 2016 to provide music majors at Los Angeles City College tuition–free attendance, additional private lessons, and further financial aid to enable them to succeed in their community college experience. Over the past nine years Herb has come to the rescue of the legendary Harlem School of the Arts, establishing an endowment that not only prevented the school from closing its doors but has led to a major redesign of the campus, financial aid and the funds to thrive as a key arts destination for the community.

Over the past 25 years, 125 mid-career, risk-taking artists have received the Herb Alpert Award in the Arts, an award administered by the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), which also houses the Herb Alpert School of Music at Cal Arts.

In addition to his on-going creative outlets in music, philanthropy and the arts, Alpert owns the noted Vibrato restaurant/jazz club in Bel-Air, California. He also continues to perform and tour across the country with his wife, Grammy-winning vocalist, Lani Hall and their band.                                       

         He's standing by his canvasses, I would guess.

When A Fraudulent Immigrant to USA Turned Out to Be a PFLP Terrorist Killing Two Israelis

"Rasmea Yousef Odeh in Arabic رسمية يوسف عودة (born 1947/1948; also known as Rasmea Yousef, Rasmieh Steve, and Rasmieh Joseph Steve)^] is a Jordanian and former American citizen of Palestinian origin who was a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) , a terrorist group,  convicted with life imprisonment  by Israeli courts for her role in the murder of two students, Leon Kanner and Eddie Joffe in the 1969 Jerusalem Supermarket bombing."
                                         

The deaths and injuries were caused by a bomb placed in a crowded Jerusalem SuperSol supermarket which the two students stopped in at to buy groceries for a field trip. The same bomb wounded 9 others. A second bomb was found at the supermarket, and defused.

Today her picture is being glorified adorning the wall of an Arab restaurant in Oakland, California called the Reems Bakery.  Since when is it right to glorify a killer?  This is what Abbas of Fatah does in Judea-Samaria-known to people outside as the West Bank.  He glorifies murderers of Jews by naming places after them.  You can be sure that the people who shop in this bakery-restaurant know who she is.  It must draw them there.  However, they're not sitting in the West Bank anymore.  This is California-USA.  What do you think about it, California?  ICE, can you imagine what conversations go on in here?

She spent 10 years in prison before she was released in a prisoner exchange with the PFLP in 1980.  She was released in the exchange, " and she immigrated to the United States, became a U.S. citizen, and she served as associate director at the Arab American Action Network in Chicago, Illinois."
                                               

Rasmea was convicted again in 2014, this time in the USA for immigration fraud  by a jury in federal court in Detroit, Michigan, for concealing her arrest, conviction, and imprisonment for the 1969 bombings. On December 11, she was released on bond.  Odeh was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison on March 12, 2015, stripped of her US citizenship, and set for deportation to Jordan after serving her time.  Note:  this is all happening during Obama's last years. 
                                         

"Convicted Palestinian terrorist Rasmea Yousef Odeh, an organizer of a Day Without a Woman, has agreed to leave the country in exchange for no jail time for failing to disclose the conviction on her U.S. visa application."

On August 17, 2017, Odeh was formally stripped of her US citizenship in a federal court hearing in Detroit before Judge Gershwin Drain. She was subsequently ordered to be deported to Jordan and to pay a $1,000 fine for immigration fraud.

On September 20, 2017, Odeh was deported to Jordan.  She has a following, since PFLP is now a defunct group.  It began in 1967 with George Habash and Ahmad Sadat and was found in the West Bank, Gaza, Syria and Lebanon.  They were Communist revolutionaries believing in armed innsurrection and refused to recognize Israel.  They broke with the PLO of Arafat in 1974 because Arafat planned on his takeover in stages and they want the land right now, then saw it was a little harder to do and returned to the PLO.  They planned plane hijackings, shootings, bombings and suicide attacks against Israel.                 

Bad actors seem to be able to make people think of them as a victim.  This is how she has collected admirers.   Rasmea Odeh is no victim.  She's a terrorist who killed students and injured shoppers.

Rasmea in fact was a military member of the PFLP and so important that famed hijacker Leila Khalid formed the “Rasmea Odeh Brigade” to try to free her, and the Black September 1972 Olympic terrorists included Rasmea on a list of prisoners they wanted released.

“They found bomb-making material in her room at her father’s house. And interestingly, the Israelis didn’t prosecute the father [for the bombing]. They reached the determination that he was unaware of what his daughter had in her bedroom. Now if the Israelis were so unfair, why wouldn’t they have prosecuted the father? If all they wanted to do was prosecute innocent Palestinians, why didn’t they prosecute the father? ….

This whole history of Rasmea portrayed by her supporters was a complete fabrication.”  Now Jordan can have her.
