Why The Two-State Solution For Israel Is Such A Bad Idea-China Needs To Understand This

 Nadene Goldfoot

UAE, Bahrain, Morocco, and Sudan are members of the Abraham Accords.  As of current date, May 3, 2025, five countries have signed peace treaties or agreements that normalize relations with Israel: Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco, and Sudan.

China was amazed that a 2-State Solution hadn't come about after the Six Day War and I am amazed that possibly China was cut off from the world at that time, for that is an ancient idea now, an antique one at that,  and especially after the October 7, 2023  Hamas  attack when they still refuse to return the 50 some hostages they continue to hold.  Surely people should get the message that the idea of placing the group, Hamas next door to Israel, would be like asking people to each take in an adult lion into their home and expect not to be eaten alive. Where on earth was China?

I heard you speak today against Israel who celebrated their 77th birthday on their Hebrew calendar---on the world calendar the date is May 14th!!!  Our ancient Israel had lived from King Saul-c. 1180-1010 BCE to 70 CE:  well over 1,000 years when the Romans burned down Jerusalem, and yes, it was more like an atom bomb had hit;  the people suffered starvation, death from swords, arrows, etc, and those still alive were taken as slaves; with a number escaping.    In the United Nations, China has long voted in support of the State of Palestine and against Israel.Today wasn't any different.

When Israel won the 1967 Six Day war, a war where all the Muslims near and far attacked Israel, when the odds against Israel must have been something like 500 to 1, and Israel embarrassed them all by overtaking them in 6 days-even to their own surprise, they were MAD!!!

They went to Khartoum, Sudan, Africa for a meeting and all swore  the 3 NO's;  The 1967 Arab League summit was held on August 29 in Khartoum as the fourth Arab League Summit in the aftermath of the Arab defeat by Israel in the Six-Day War, and is famous for its Khartoum Resolution known as "The Three No's";

 No peace with Israel,

no recognition of Israel,

no negotiations with Israel.

Have they thrown away this declaration yet?  Have they amended it?

No, they are following it;  all except the few daring enough and intelligent enough to join the Abraham Accords-and for this May Abraham look down and bless those few.  The Abraham Accords have involved Israel and several Arab nations, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Morocco, and Sudan. These agreements normalized diplomatic relations between Israel and these Arab states.

Benny Morris wrote that the Arab leaders "hammered out a defiant, rejectionist platform that was to bedevil all peace moves in the region for a decade" despite an Israeli offer on 19 June 1967 "to give up Sinai and the Golan in exchange for peace." Odd Bull of the UNTSO opined in much the same manner in 1976. In 1976, Odd Bull, the Chief of Staff of UNTSO, expressed opinions similar to the rejectionist platform of the Khartoum Resolution, which included "No peace with Israel" and "No recognition of Israel". This occurred during a time of rising tensions, particularly between Israel and Syria, which both claimed territories within the demilitarized zones.  UNTSO's task at the time was to monitor the borders and mediate disputes between them.  So Israel GAVE the PLO Gaza in the name of peace. In September 1993, after the First Intifada, leaders of Israel and the PLO signed the Oslo Accords, allowing Palestinian administration of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank town of Jericho.

China....these are special days that we have entered.  Judaism, Christianity and Islamhave a belief that these are the End of Times Look at our weather, the people, Jews returning to Israel from the 4 corners of the world, earthquakes,  our technical abilities, going into outer space, and who has been cruising over us lately?  UFO's?  Or was it you?  Well, it wasn't us. In those six days, Israel defeated three Arab armies, gained territory four times its original size, and became the preeminent military power in the region. The war transformed Israel from a nation that perceived itself as fighting for survival into an occupier and regional powerhouse;  all in 6 days!!!

The consequences for the Arab coalition were similarly transformative. For those “on the line of confrontation,” as Arab states bordering Israel were called, the war brought the loss of vast territories and crushing humiliation, all the more so for the Palestinians. Gamal Abdel Nasser, President of Egypt and the most prominent Arab leader at the time, survived the war but his leadership never recovered. The stunning defeat initiated the demise of his brand of secular pan-Arabism that was once an assertive ideological force in the Arab world.

Some of us actually believe that Israel had the Almighty help from up above, and it sure seems so.  Jews had to wait for 2,000 years to regain only a teeny 10% of their original land, from a promise, called the Balfour Declaration to them by the British who held a 30 year mandate of Palestine.  This was at the end of World War I when the Ottoman Empire had made the mistake of joining on Germany's side (the axis) and lost all their land.

The Arab League Is Complicit in Causing Unrest in Middle East: Quit Blaming Israel For Defending Itself Against the Many

Nadene Goldfoot

The Arab League are the ones who created the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).  They did this in Cairo in 1964 as a weapon against Israel.  The Arab League was formed in 1945 by:  Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan (Transjordan then), Saudi Arabia and Yemen.  Libya joined in 1953.  The main issue uniting them all has been the common enmity towards Israel.  They banded together in the joint war against Israel in 1948-1949.  They suffered in that from their own rivalry.  It became a tool of President Nasser.

"Until the Six-Day War of June 1967, the PLO engaged in terrorist attacks that contribute to the momentum towards conflict. " Right after the Six Day War, the Arab League held a conference at Kartoum and they decided on saying no to everything their opposition brought up; mainly-saying no to peace with Israel.  They decided:
1. No peace with Israel
2. No negotiations with Israel
3. No recognition with Israel

Yasser Arafat, born 1929-died November 11, 2004 in France
 leader of PLO terrorists
born in Cairo, with a father said to come from Gaza.
Also created Fatah-and with them terrorized world-wide,
Israelis, Zionist and Jewish targets.  He and his gang were kicked out of Jordan
in 1970 by King Hussein, kicked out of Lebanon in 1982 by Israel's army and Major Hadad of
Lebanon.  He supported Saddam Hussein of Iraq in the 1991 Gulf War.  In 1988 the PLO proclaimed a Palestine State with Arafat as President.  He died, possibly of Aids, and Abbas took over.

It was on November 22, 1967 that the resolution 242 came out of the UN Security Council that was bad for Israel.  The Arabs tried to use it as a device for imposing a settlement.  It called for "a just and lasting peace in which every state in the area could live in security.  That was a good statement.  Then it called for THE WITHDRAWAL OF ISRAELI ARMED FORCES FROM TERRITORIES OCCUPIED IN THE RECENT CONFLICT!  They deliberately  omitted the highlighted segment from the resolution by its sponsors.  The Arab governments interpreted it as requiring a complete Israeli withdrawal.  There were no take-backs of the 3 points from the Kartoum Conference, either.  They expected to keep their position on one hand but to remove the Jews on the other hand.
Fatah ready to terrorize

The PLO or any other Palestinian groups campaigned for Jordan or Egypt to create an independent Palestinian state in Judea or Samaria (West Bank) and Gaza.  They were all a mixed group of people, not from any state of non-existent Palestine.  That was just a name the Romans called the land, not a country with a ruler, a people, a language AND a religion.

1967 and finally seeing the Western Wall in Jerusalem again
Deprived since 1948 by Jordan
776 IDF lost their lives in this war out of 200,000 total forces of Israel
Israel had a population then of 2.745 million.
The Six Day War were made up of 6 days of infamy when an escalation of aggression towards Israel by Syria, Egypt and the Soviet Union had spread false reports that the Israeli forces were on the Syrian frontier in a huge concentration.  At the same time, the UN had said that no such concentration existed.  The rumors won out as the Arabs believed them.

The Egyptians went ahead and used these false reports as a pretext for putting the bulk of their army in the Sinai.  They installed their 90,000 men and 900 tanks there.

Egypt demanded and the UN obeyed.  Their emergency force was withdrawn.  The UN had stopped serving as a barrier between Egypt and Israel.  Then Egypt closed the  Straits of Tiran to all navigation heading for Israel, and called for WAR!

Egypt in the lead, the Arab states formed a war pact against Israel.  The armies of Jordan, Iraq and Syria began to concentrate their forces along the frontiers with Israel.  The Jordanian Army was placed under the command of an Egyptian officer.  In speeches made during that period, Arab leaders affirmed publicly their intention to destroy Israel.

In 6 days, Israel destroyed the armies that had massed along its frontier and menaced its vital centers.  Cease-fire lines were created along the Suez Canal, Jordan River and the Golan Heights.  The Straits of Tiran were once again open to navigation.  Jerusalem was unified.

Today's 22 Arab League Members
Naturally, since then Israel's main occupation has been to have peace and secure borders.  Israel has only had armistice lines and cease-fire lines.  Israel needs borders that are defensible.  This means the borders must not be a temptation to a potential aggressor as did the pre-1967 lines that Obama wanted Israel to go back to.  Now the scuttle-but is that he, John Kerry and the UN want Israel back to the 49 armistice lines!

Israel is the party of the 2 that has offered to negotiate with the Arab governments a true peace; one which would also provide for secure borders.  To do this,  Israel requires no prior conditions before even talking!  Everything must be open for discussion in negotiations.

Sharm el-Sheikh is at the southern tip of the Sinai peninsula,
it is in a strategic position controlling the Straits of Tiran, important in 1956 War
and 6 Day War, both times fortified by Egyptians to prevent shipping sailing to Elat.
Israel was prepared to return most of the Sinai to Egypt, but its position was that it must remain in control of Sharm el-Sheikh so as to prevent Egypt from closing the Gulf of Eilat for a 3rd time.  Sharm el Sheikh was to be linked territorially to Israel.  The rest of the Sinai must be demilitarized.

Israel didn't want to annex a large Arab population.  They held the position that  the Jordan River should no longer be open to crossing by Arab troops, however.  To assure this, there must be an Israeli foothold in the Jordan Valley.

Every time negotiations have been held, the Palestinians just say NO.  The UN had a mediator, Ambassador Jarring.  Everything came to a halt in February 1971.  He had submitted a proposal that Israel should withdraw to the former international boundary between Egypt and the British Mandated territories of Palestine.

The Arabs continued a War of Attrition for 2 years after the 1967 war in which they tried to wear down Israel's resolve to expect a peace with them and to have secure borders.  This 2 year war was along the cease fire lines and mostly along the Suez Canal and the Jordan river.  The PLO were the supplement who held "sporadic terrorist operations and included their other spin-off groups as well.  They terrorized those in the administered areas and even in Israel.  They failed everywhere.

Anwar Sadat (1918-1981)
President of Egypt 1970-1981
In September 1970, President Nasser died and was succeeded by President Sadat.  During 1971 and 1972, Egypt demanded weapons from the Soviet Union, hoping to change their poor power base.  The Soviet Union supplied them but kept from sending troops into Egypt to help.  By 1972, Sadat was the leader and he expelled most of the Soviet military personnel from Egypt.

Nevertheless, War broke out again in 1973 with the Yom Kippur War, Arabs attacking on the Holiest Day of the Year, a day when Jews were fasting and praying in their synagogues all over the world.

General Abdel Fattah el- Sisi born 1954
6th President of Egypt June 2014 to today
Negotiations.  Promises.  All are based on a slippery slope and are dependent on the honesty and heart of the people making them.  Finally Egypt has come around and this is 2017.  Since the failed 1973 war, there has been a peace which is only more consistent since General Sisi took over Egypt when he kicked out Morsi, who was head of the Muslim Brotherhood, a group who only wanted to destroy Israel.  Since then Egypt has worked with Israel against tunneling, for one, allowing Palestinians in Gaza to bring in arms to use against Israel.  It is remembered that Obama favored Morsi-heavens only knows why.

The Palestine Group creating a State
Resolution 2334 from the UN today is a terrible plot which wants to take back the power and decide alone on a 2 state solution.  It isn't the UN members who live in these 2 places, ironically.  Already, 2 Arab states have actually lost their state already without any imput from Israel.  By themselves they have destroyed what they held;  Syria and Iraq.  All I can say of the Arabs is to Butt Out!  What everyone has to fight today are the members of ISIS.  This fact is making Saudi Arabia see Israel as a friend !   Egypt signed a peace.  Jordan signed a peace.  Perhaps the Palestinians will also copy their efforts.  Those living in the West Bank did so, evidently, but keep joining together with the Gazans who only make war with attacking and bombing an onslaught of rockets, mortars and missiles  As I write, Abbas is joining them again for the how many time now?  Their marriage and divorces are many.

A Conference was held on Sunday, January 15, 2017 about the 2 state solution and getting it done.  "The U.K. emerged skeptical of the summit's results, with the British Foreign Office saying it had "particular reservations" about peace talks held without either Israeli or Palestinian leaders. In a statement, it also questioned the effectiveness of a summit "taking place just days before the transition to a new American President when the U.S. will be the ultimate guarantor of any agreement."  One country out of the 70 was skeptical.  That's our gang, for you.  Over 70 countries and international organisations will attend this conference hosted by Jean-Marc Ayrault, at which the French President François Hollande will speak. The major international players concerned are: the Quartet (United States, European Union, Russia, United Nations), the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, Arab and European partners, G20 countries and other actors committed to peace. This is a wider international conference in terms of participation than that of 3 June 2016, resulting from the momentum we have managed to generate for our initiative. It will be France’s role to inform Israel and the Palestinian Authority of the Conference’s message.

January 17, 2017:  Unilateral actions threaten to unravel the two-state solution between Israelis and Palestinians, the United Nations focal point on the Middle East today told the Security Council, stressing that both sides must do their part to create the necessary conditions to launch direct negotiations.

The Asset That Israel Stands For in This World

Nadene Goldfoot

The Egyptian-Syrian surprise attack splintered and rushed Israel's army defenses.  Their deception of having practices had worked.  By the Suez Canal, 450 IDF with 50 artillery pieces tried to stop 100,000 Egyptian troops crossing the water under the covering fire of 2,000 artillery pieces.  The enemy also had an umbrella of one of the most insidious SAMs missiles in the world which quickly knocked 50 Israeli planes down.  In just a few days 2 whole Egyptian armies occupied the whole Israeli-held east band of the Suez Canal.

In the north, 1,400 Syrian tanks were going against 160 Israeli tanks.  The Israelis fought bravely against tanks, armored personnel carriers and howitzers and other lethal war machines.

The bloodiest battle was fought on the Golan Heights in the Kuneitra Valley called the Vale of Tears.  Golda Meir herself went to this front to see with her own eyes what was happening to her soldiers.

Moshe Dayan, Sadat, Begin in Jerusalem

This was the Yom Kippur War that occurred in 1973, only 6 years after the halting 1967 Six Day War with all the Arabs.  Golda and her staff didn't give up.  She had help from President Nixon, G-d Bless Him, a man I was not in favor of as an American, but who saved the day for Israel.  His help brought about Sadat to Jerusalem and Begin was able to say to the world, "No more war, no more bloodshed."    Then some malcontent Arab had to assassinate this man who had seen the other side of life, and ended something beautiful happening in the Arab world.  Luckily, Egypt has been holding their peace which honors such a great man as Sadat.  From this war, the Arabs realized that they would never beat Israel conventionally.

                                               Hamas Terrorists from Gaza

Along came Operation Defense Edge, a very unconventional war against Israel.  Israel didn't try to destroy Hamas once and for all, but only wanted to cripple them so they would accept the terms of the Egyptian-brokered ceasefire.  After 6 ceasefires, there is still no resolution for peace.  Israeli settlements are still being hit with mortar fire.  Hamas still has the ability to hit urban centers with their missiles.  The terrorists from Gaza and Qatar where they hang out in safety are making impossible demands.  From past experiences, Israel knows they dare not go back to the 67 lines or they will be wiped out.  Nixon is gone, and so was his personal goals for Israel  from the USA.  To him, Israel was a deterrent to the aims of the Soviet Union.  Now we have  a President in the USA who will not fill orders of ammunition already promised to the little state of Israel, even though they helped to create a machine that stops missiles a good % of the time that they are sharing with the USA.

In this latest operation, it has been found but has not made the headlines that damned Israel, that the casualties of the Palestinians were greatly magnified.  More than half of the dead were combatants from Hamas and the other terrorist factions.  Some of the civilian deaths were caused by misfired Hamas missiles, cases of which have been confirmed.

Just like in 1967 and 1973, Israelis are saddened by civilian deaths.  They realize something others don't, however.  They are on the eve of an escalating war of survival against the terror group of radical Islam, called Hamas, their charter member.  Hamas chooses to fight in urban areas of the population who voted them in and chased Abbas out in 2005.  This is part of Israeli's price to save themselves and the world from the evil threatening to conquer them.  Like Golda had told Sadat, "We can forgive you for killing our sons, but we will never forgive you for making us to kill yours. "  Jews had to kill, something they find repulsive.

When Golda went to the front to see for herself what was happening, she spoke with her boys.  She asked the men about themselves.  Then she asked them if they had questions for her.  One responded and said, "My father was killed in the war of 48, and we won.  My uncle was killed in the war of 56, and we won.  My brother lost an arm in the 67 war, and we won.  Last week I lost my best friend over there," and he pointed to the Vale of Tears.  and despite the odds at that moment, he bravely said that "we're going to win.  But is all our sacrifice worthwhile, Golda?  what's the use of our sacrifice if we can't win the peace?"

Hamas from Gaza on the March

This is something still being thought about, and I fear that the West, who at first supported Israel, has already thrown the towel in and is no longer backing our little state of Israel as one might have backed youthful David against the giant, Goliath.    But, like Golda answered him, the facts remain the same.  Yes, it's worth all the pain.  If Israel goes, so does all of Judaism this time.  We have faced horrible bottlenecks of survival in the past.

Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al Husseini in 1938 with Hitler
Palestinian Arab leader plotting to rid Palestine of Jews

At one time we were down to 4 women of who most all Jews trace their lineage from.  We lost 6 million in the Holocaust and have just now reached 6 million Jews living in Israel.  There is a reason why we have been singled out to remain a people and a religion for the past 4,000 years since Abraham, who was born in the 2nd millennium BCE.  Our Torah spells out a set of conditions we are to follow to be a just and honorable people.  If we go, there goes the template for the rest of the world.  So for the past 67 years, Israel has never fought to kill people just because we thought they were unworthy of living, like the Nazis and IS is doing now.  We've had to fight to defend ourselves only against attacks.

This Yom Kippur War that happened on October 6, 1973, the day of our holiest day of fasting and attending synagogue asking for forgiveness for our sins, had support for the Egyptians and Syrians from Iraq and Jordan and others.  The Soviets airlifted and replaced Arab arms, but Nixon sent Israel help by October 14th.  Then 2 days later, the IDF  crossed the Suez Canal and in a few days more cut off the Egyptian 3rd Army.  The USSR and Kissinger, Sec. of State, got together and worked out terms for cease fire, which were operative by October 25th.  Israel had  lost 2,600 men.  This is something they haven't forgotten and the reason why they will not let it happen again.  Israel needs defensive lines, so Golda wouldn't go back and neither will Netanyahu.  Arab oil seemed to be the asset the Russians wanted.  This asset spoke louder than what Israel stands for.  Even without such an asset, Israel remains the sacrificial lamb, the scapegoat of humanity, for who is willing to stand beside her today?
