How Headlines Create Attitudes (like 1984)

 Nadene Goldfoot

To bad it doesn't say that Israel struck Hezbollah drones in Lebanon as their drones hit Israeli troops overnight.  The above paints Israel as the bad guy.  Here are the facts:

Hezbollah remains deeply entrenched in Lebanon as a powerful political, social, and heavily armed military organization, maintaining its strongholds despite ongoing regional conflict and international pressure to disarm.  Can they ever free themselves of it?  I doubt it.  They need help, of which Israel's attacks should help.  It isn' t the Lebanese government Israel hits;  it's Hezbollah terrorists and their goal to wipe Israel out for the sake of Iran as well as themselves.

Disarmament Debates: International and regional brokers continue efforts to enforce Lebanese state authority and disarm the group, but Hezbollah and its political allies have consistently rejected conditional disarmament terms, leaving the broader question of Lebanon's security monopoly unresolved.

Israel faces ongoing military attacks from and in Gaza, diplomatic pressure over aid worker investigations, and rising tensions in Judea and Samaria.  (West Bank).  All has not been quiet here even though our outlets in the USA never have reason to mention it.  What has been going on are:

This is probably the reason that Israel does not agree with Trump in his peace plan in that Trump is not following his own conditions expected in Section 2:  Complete disarmament by Hamas and Hezbollah in Gaza. People cannot be expected to be in harm's way.

Israelis Hit  Since the escalation of hostilities and the 2026

conflict with Hezbollah, cross-border rocket fire and attacks

have resulted in dozens of Israeli military and civilian casualties,

though comprehensive overall totals fluctuate as low-level

clashes continue despite ceasefire frameworks.

  • Airstrikes: Recent Israeli airstrikes in central Gaza killed several people, including a young child.
  • The Admission: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that troops fired on the vehicle because it approached soldiers unexpectedly.

  • The Investigation: The military's top lawyer opened a criminal investigation into the deaths of Hind, her family, and the paramedics.
  • Hind was Hind Rajab, a 5-year-old Palestinian girl whose death in Gaza City became one of the most widely publicized and tragic events of the Israel-Hamas war.  This happened after the October 23, 2026 attack on Israel from Gazans that was so gruesome.  The Attack: In January 2024, Hind was in a car with six of her relatives trying to flee an Israeli military advance in Gaza City when their vehicle came under fire from Israeli troops.

  • The Phone Call: Her 15-year-old cousin, Layan, initially called emergency dispatchers before being killed. Hind then spent hours trapped in the car with the bodies of her dead family members, staying on the phone with Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) dispatchers and pleading for rescue.
  • The Paramedics: An ambulance was coordinated and dispatched to save her, but it was struck and shelled upon arrival, killing the two paramedics inside.
  • The Discovery: Hind, her family members, and the two paramedics were found dead when bodies were recovered from the scene days later.
  • Other Probes: The IDF also opened a criminal probe into the March 2025 killing of 15 rescue workers in a convoy, while closing cases related to other aid groups like World Central Kitchen.
  • Bigger news:  IDF captures Hezbollah drone factory and
  • launch site hidden inside South Lebanon mountain.

  • Border Tensions: The military warned of strong responses after children flew kites across the border from Gaza.
  • In the past, kites with fire on them were used at this time of year with goal to catch fire   in forests and burn them down, fields of food growing.  Why do you think they do this now?  It shows me that Hezbollah is using children to fight against Israel.  Am I paranoid?  No, just aware of all their tricks.
  • Aid Worker Probes: Australia, the UK, and Canada criticized Israel for refusing criminal probes into the deaths of aid workers, such as World Central Kitchen staff.
  • Other Probes: The IDF also opened a criminal probe into the March 2025 killing of 15 rescue workers in a convoy, while closing cases related to other aid groups like World Central Kitchen.

  • Last week, the IDF probe admitted that its surveillance officials misidentified the WCK security officials as Hamas terrorism.  The assessment was that  Hamas operatives were traveling in the vehicles, the decisions of the commanders did not raise reasonable suspicion of criminal misconduct. The IDF therefore decided not to open a criminal investigation.

  •

During the October 7, 2023 attacks upon Israel , as part of the

Gaza war, Hamas's military wing the Al-Qassam Brigades

took temporary control of the Erez Crossing, causing hundreds of Palestinian civilians to make their way to the crossing.

The attack caused damage to the facilities at the crossing, and the Erez Crossing remained closed during the ensuing war until

1 May 2024, when it was reopened for aid transports heading into Gaza.
