Yesterday, 2 Islamic terrorists (a father and son) opened fire on a menorah lighting ceremony on the first night of Hanukkah in Sydney, Australia's Bondi Beach, where over 1,000 Jews has come to celebrate the first night of the holiday. 15 people were murdered in the terror attack, including Chabad Rabbi Eli Schlanger, Holocaust survivor Alex Kleitman, a 12 year of child. Many people were wounded. One of the terrorists was killed and the other severely wounded and arrested. Ages of deceased was from 10 to 87, holocaust survivor.
Naveed Akram, 24 years old: Police were already investigating links to Islamic State terror ideology after a black IS flag was found in their car in Bondi, along with improvised explosive devices. They are members of ISIS. ISIS (the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) is a transnational Sunni Islamist insurgent and terrorist group that adheres to an extreme, fundamentalist ideology known as Salafi jihadism.Sydney attackers radicalized at mosque, carried ISIS flag; new footage tage emerges for police near massacre site
Sunni Extremism: ISIS follows an extreme interpretation of Sunni Islam that considers itself the only true believers and views other Muslims, particularly Shi'a Muslims, as apostates (unbelievers).
- Salafi Jihadism: The group's ideology is rooted in Salafism, a puritanical movement that seeks to return to the practices of the first three generations of Muslims (the Salaf), combined with the use of violent jihad (holy war) against perceived enemies.
- Declaration of a Caliphate: A central part of its belief is the establishment of a global caliphate (an Islamic state led by a single political and religious leader, or caliph, claiming authority over all Muslims). This claim has been rejected by the vast majority of Muslims and Islamic scholars worldwide.
- Sajid Akram (the father) was shot and killed by police at the scene. He had arrived in Australia in 1998 on a student visa and later obtained permanent residency. He was a legal firearms holder and owned six licensed weapons, which were believed to have been used in the attack.
- Naveed Akram (the son) was an Australian-born citizen who was critically injured during the attack and taken to the hospital under police guard. He had come to the attention of intelligence authorities in 2019 due to ties to others in an Islamic State (IS) cell but was deemed not an ongoing threat at the time. (Watching? A poor job of that !!!)
43-year-old Syrian-Australian injured while disarming one of shooters
in deadly attack that killed 16, injured 40 others
A moslem man, Ahmed al-Ahmed, who was at the scene was videoed jumping on one of the terrorists and disarming him, before being shot twice or more himself in his leg and arm. 43-year-old Ahmed al Ahmed is a Sydney local who owns a fruit shop in Sutherland," the report said.
Ahmed, a Syrian from al-Nayrab village of the Idlib governorate, northwest Syria, who holds Australian citizenship, was reportedly shot twice during the attack and taken to the hospital for treatment.
Speaking to 7News from the hospital, Ahmed’s cousin, Mustafa Al-Asaad, said his cousin would undergo surgery tonight.
Asaad added that Ahmed, a father of two, had no experience with firearms.
He said that Ahmed’s condition was good, saying: “We hope he will be okay — he is a hero.”
In an interview with the Qatar-based Al Araby TV, Asaad stressed that his cousin has intervened to stop the attacker “out of humanitarian motives,” acting instinctively after seeing people falling victim to the attack.
He quoted Ahmad as saying that what he did “was a humanitarian act,” and he was not aware of the background or identity of those being targeted and did not think about the risks at the moment of intervention.
“Any honorable person, upon seeing people being killed, would not hesitate to try to stop it,” Asaad quoted Ahmed as saying.
Prime Minister Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Sa'ar both accused Australian Prime Minister Albanese for failing to take a firm stand against antisemitism and for allowing public displays of anti-Israel and antisemitic hatred in the country.
The public is shocked by a Hanukkah celebration turned massacre in Sidney, Australia. A rabbi was murdered on Bondi Beach with 14 others who was about to light the first candle. Global leaders still refuse to connect the dots. Western governments' flirtation with jihadist rhetoric and pro-Hamas activism led to this moment. From foreign policy failures to UNRWA’s deep ties to Hamas, it's important to expose how evil is being funded, defended and ignored. As Israel prepares for the final round in Gaza, the hosts demand moral clarity from Washington to the UN.
Lesson: If an ISIS member is in your neighborhood, for heaven's sake get him arrested and out of the public area, locked up in a cell. You can't play both sides of the coin. That's something promoting bad things only.
