IRAQ, Center of Genesis of Our Origins and What Was Happening There: Now and Then of Ur (Part V)

 Nadene Goldfoot

Iraq Today-Ur is still on the map, land between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers.
US Forces in Iraq, now planning a change.  During a visit to Iraq, Marine Gen. Frank McKenzie, the commander of U.S. Central Command, said the reduction in Iraq — from about 5,200 troops to about 3,000 — reflects the Trump administration’s confidence in the ability of U.S.-trained Iraqi security forces to handle the militant threat from the Islamic State group.

U.S. troops invaded Iraq in 2003 and left in 2011 but returned in 2014 after the Islamic State group overran large parts of Iraq. McKenzie said the remaining U.S. troops would continue advising and assisting Iraqi security forces as they attempt to root out remnants of the Islamic State group, sometimes called ISIS.

“The U.S. decision is a clear demonstration of our continued commitment to the ultimate goal, which is an Iraqi security force that is capable of preventing an ISIS resurgence and of securing Iraq’s sovereignty without external assistance,” McKenzie said. “The journey has been difficult, the sacrifice has been great, but the progress has been significant.”

The monthly average temperatures in Iraq range from higher than 48 degrees Celsius (120 Fahrenheit) in July and August to below zero in January. Roughly 90 percent of the annual rainfall occurs between November and April, most of it in the winter months from December through March.

IRAQ is Mesopotamia.  Mesopotamia literally means "between the rivers" in ancient Greek. The oldest known occurrence of the name Mesopotamia dates to the 4th century BCE, when it was used to designate the land east of the Euphrates in north Syria. ... Lower Mesopotamia is the area from Baghdad to the Persian Gulf.
Before Islam came to this area, it was referred to as Babylonia.  The Arabs from Arabia conquered it in 637.

Shinar  (Hebrew שִׁנְעָר Šinʿar,) is the southern region                  of Mesopotamia in the Hebrew Bible (Torah).

Shinar comes to us right away in Genesis 10:10, telling us about Nimrod, son of Cush, the first of the mighty men on earth, having the reputation of being a mighty hunter first.  The beginning of his kingdom were the cities of Babel, Enech;, Accad, and Calneh in the LAND OF SHINAR.  Nimrod was of Cushite origin. His kingdom grew to include Babylon, Erech, Accad and the others.  Assyria was poetically known as the land of Nimrod.  His historical identity with one of the Babylonian kings is still up in the air.
Cush-before the days of DNA as found in the Bible was the son of Ham;  brother of Mizraim (Egypt), Put (Libya and Morocco) and Canaan (Gen. 10:6.  The Cushites seem to be tribes now found in Africa and southern Arabia.  The city of Cush/ Cosseans, which in Babylonian tradition, was one of the first cities built after THE FLOOD.  It is also the region south of Egypt-Nubia, Ethiopia, in Hebrew and other ancient languages.  It extended south from Elephantine and Syene (the modern Assouan-Awan as in Aswan Dam in Egypt). The Book of Numbers 12:1 describes Moses as having married "a Cushite woman".

Wine had been invented by now as Noah, our ancestor, got drunk.  He had had vineyards before the flood.  The earliest evidence of a rice and grape mixed based fermented drink was found in ancient China (c. 7000 BC), earliest evidence of wine in Georgia (Russia)  from 6000 BC, Iran from 5000 BC, and Sicily from 4000 BC. The earliest known wineries from 4100 BC is the Areni-1 winery in Armenia.  Possibly our cavemen drank liquids from fermented grapes and enjoyed the experience!  The vintage find, probably a branch of Beer,  was dated to the second half of the sixth millennium B.C.E. -- a couple of thousand years before the first beer. That can be traced to the fourth millennium B.C.E., when common folk in Egypt and Mesopotamia (present day Iraq) produced the inexpensive brew from wheat or barley.
A recent discovery by a team of researchers highlights the importance that wine once had in the region. Earlier this summer, the remains of 40 large wine jugs were found in the Canaanite palace of Tel Kabri, in the northwestern part of modern-day Israel.

      Clay Tablet of Gilgamesh
This epic story of Gilgamesh was discovered in the ruins of the library of Ashurbanipal in Nineveh by Hormuzd Rassam in 1853. Written in cuneiform on 12 clay tablets, this Akkadian version dates from around 1300 to 1000 B.C. “The Epic of Gilgamesh” was one of the most beloved stories of Mesopotamia.Other identifications have been made with the Epic of Gilgamesh and with the Assyrian war-god, Nimurata.   The Epic of Gilgamesh is based on an ancient story from Sumer; the standard version is written in Babylonian. This is  an ancient Babylonian creation myth.  It also includes our Flood story. This original Noah is named Gilgamesh.  It could mean that Jews returning from Babylon in 538 BCE after they had been taken in away in  597 BCE and again in 586 BCE brought back with them this tale;  or it might mean that Assyrians already had the story much earlier.
Jonah was swallowed by a whale
From Shinar, Ashur left and built Nineveh, Rehovoth-ir, Calah and Resen between Nineveh and Calah that is the great city.  Genesis 11:2 mentions Shinar in that Noah's ancestors living in Mesha going toward Sephar, the mountain to the east.  They migrated from the East and found a valley in the land of Shinar and settled there.  Nineveh was the capital of the new Assyrian Empire from about 1100 BCE.  We read about Nineveh in the story of Jonah and the whale, when he was sent to Nineveh to persuade its citizens to repent.  They must have failed, because in 721 BCE they attacked Israel and took away the best of the 10 northern Tribes out of the 12 to Assyria, no doubt.

Ashur (also known as Assur and Asshur) was an Assyrian city located on a plateau above the Tigris River in Mesopotamia (today known as Qalat Sherqat, northern Iraq). The city was an important center of trade, as it lay squarely on a caravan trade route that ran through Mesopotamia to Anatolia and down through the Levant. (Jacob's son by wife, Zilpah, was Asher).  Jacob was the grandson of Abraham.

The Great Assyrian Empire by 650 BCE

Assyria, an ancient state of western Asia, was made up of Semites in the 20th century BCE.  which would be the 2nd millennium, the time when Abraham was born which we believe to be in 1948 BCE. Abraham was also a Semite.

Akkadia was the world’s first empire. It was established in Mesopotamia around 4,300 years ago after its ruler, Sargon of Akkad, first ruler of the Akkadian Empire, known for his conquests of the Sumerian city-states in the 24th to 23rd centuries BCE.  He united a series of independent city states. Akkadian influence spanned along the Tigris and Euphrates rivers from what is now southern Iraq, through to Syria and Turkey.

The north-south extent of the empire meant that it covered regions with different climates, ranging from fertile lands in the north which were highly dependent on rainfall (one of Asia’s “bread baskets”), to the irrigation-fed alluvial plains to the south.

It appears that the empire became increasingly dependent on the productivity of the northern lands and used the grains sourced from this region to feed the army and redistribute the food supplies to key supporters. Then, about a century after its formation, the Akkadian Empire suddenly collapsed, followed by mass migration and conflicts. The anguish of the era is perfectly captured in the ancient Curse of Akkad text, which describes a period of turmoil with water and food shortages:  … the large arable tracts yielded no grain, the inundated fields yielded no fish, the irrigated orchards yielded no syrup or wine, the thick clouds did not rain.

The Collapse of the Akkadian Empire  was followed by mass migration from north to south which was met with resistance by the local populations. A 180km wall – the “Repeller of the Amorites” – was even built between the Tigris and Euphrates in an effort to control immigration, not unlike some strategies proposed today. The stories of abrupt climate change in the Middle East therefore echo over millennia to the present day.

A Later Sargon, king of Assyria ruled (721 BCE-712 BCE)and had attacked Israel, taking the 10 Northern tribes back to Assyria.

Part 5: The Score Between the FBI, Defense Department With President Donald Trump

Nadene Goldfoot
American Revolution of 1776 ridding selves of Great Britain
as the United States of 13 colonies.  The French helped us.  We established our army, navy and marines then.  That was only 242 years ago.

Trump says we're not policemen of the world; time to take care of our own country for a change.  He promised his constituents to do this.

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump running in 2016 for the Presidency
The United States has experienced about 53 women who wanted to be president of the United States and actually did something about running for the position.  Hillary Clinton was just the most recent and closest to the position.  She ran for the position twice.

In the 2nd running, she thought she was going to win.  Much of the country thought she would win. in this 2nd experience.  After all, she was the wife of former president Bill Clinton.  It was unfortunate that he had to resign during his term due to improper conduct with a young woman he worked with in the White House.  People felt sorry for Hillary because of this.  So Hillary had it all; well educated lawyer, married to Bill, former governor and president, and there she was, ready to take over and make the women's movement proud of her perseverance.

Israel has already had a female Prime Minister, which is the more active and important position of the President and the PM in most countries with this type of politics.  Golda Meier  was" the world's fourth and Israel's first and only woman to hold such an office, she has been described as the "Iron Lady" of Israeli politics.  She didn't win this position because she was a woman.  She won because she happened to be a very wise person and her comments are still being repeated.  She was a rarity of a woman giving up everything; husband and all that included for her love of her country and serving it.  Former Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion used to call Meir "the best man in the government"; she was often portrayed as the "strong-willed, straight-talking, grey-bunned grandmother of the Jewish people."  Will the USA ever produce such a lady?  If they did, would they vote her in?

Mrs. Melania Trump is a famous European model.

The man running against Hillary Clinton came from no special group.  Donald Trump was a billionaire, a tough speaking New Yorker who didn't like Obama, America's 1st Black President who won Hillary's 1st try  of presidency and tried to buy information proving that Obama was born outside of the USA, thus not eligible to run for the presidency.  He didn't succeed in that but made a lot of people happy for trying and others completely shocked.  Donald had also been a Democrat who switched to becoming a Republican and ran against Hillary in this 2nd trial.  He won, showing how clever he was, probably switching political sides as he couldn't have bucked running against Hillary for the Democratic ticket.  He ran with 17 others and won the position on the Republican ticket, fooling everyone.    He won against the odds.  He shocked the country.  Even the Republicans weren't ready for such a surprise.  He had forced his way into their club and they felt they couldn't handle this. His ways of thinking certainly wasn't their way of handling their politics.

We're two years into his first term now and though he's been very successful in fighting his way against the tide, he's run into a few brick walls.  He made promises when he ran for office and has been busy fulfilling them.  He doesn't understand that presidents usually don't do that.  They sit in the oval office and enjoy the chair.  They let problems come to them and they take their time to handle them.  He's adamant about going down his list of promises and doing them before he has to run again for the 2nd term's position, and he's just announced he's pulling out the 2,000 soldiers from Syria, causing a riot in Washington.

I was shocked, too, but see he never promised to stay there, even though it's been great for my 2nd country, Israel, of which I'm also a citizen of.  Trump even mentioned that he wanted to pull out months ago, but most people won't remember that.  He does not see the USA being the policeman of the world.  He got in and feels he's done enough and it's up to the people of the land to take over now that he's got a handle on it.

Two USA veterans in Syria fighting alongside the Kurds
amazing dedication to our friends. especially now with the army pullout
announced.  The Halabja chemical attack (Kurdish: Kîmyabarana Helebce کیمیابارانی ھەڵەبجە), also known as the Halabja Massacre or Bloody Friday,[1] was a massacre against the Kurdish people that took place on March 16, 1988, during the closing days of the Iran–Iraq War in the Kurdish city of Halabja in Iraq.

I see him being right about this position.  It's just that this position is pasted onto a lot of other realities, the Kurds who helped us and will be abandoned, Turkey who is drooling over the prospect of ridding the world of the Kurds finally, and his friends, Russia and Iran who are all now celebrating, no doubt by our promise.

Life is nothing but a range of dominoes, and when one falls down, so many follow suit.  One cannot leave without touching the others.  Everyone of us touches someone and without us, their life would be a little different.  That's heavy responsibility but it shows that we are all fulfilling a position in this world, hopefully a good one.

FBI-Federal Bureau of Investigation in the
J Edgar Hoover Bldg in Washington, DC
The government pool is about to have a whole nervous breakdown with this change of matters with a billionaire businessman at the helm who isn't steering the ship according to  their own idea of governmental rules.  The FBI is having the worst time.  The FBI is a section of the Department of Justice.   Operating under the jurisdiction of the United States Department of Justice, the FBI is also a member of the U.S. Intelligence Community and reports to both the Attorney General and the Director of National Intelligence.  A leading U.S. counter-terrorism, counterintelligence, and criminal investigative organization, the FBI has jurisdiction over violations of more than 200 categories of federal crimes.

The FBI has been running amok in trying to do away with him. A group of FBI professionals called themselves "The Secret Society" confessed lawyer Lisa Page who was one of them.  She reported to their "Super Agent, Peter Strzok.  Their goal was to actually stop Trump from succeeding.  They were using Russia to do it.  They had involved FBIs:  Comey, McCabe, Stzok, Page, Baker, Ohr, Yates, Priestap, Rybicki, Kortan, Campbell, Turgal, Bower, Steinback, Glacalone, Laufman, Carlin, McCord and more.
This is what they are seen to have done.  They entangled Attorney General Loretta Lynch and had her office generate a legal finding memo against Trump.  "The United States Attorney General (A.G.) is the chief lawyer of the Federal government of the United States and head of the United States Department of Justice , concerned with all legal affairs.  Loretta Elizabeth Lynch (born May 21, 1959) is an American lawyer who served as the 83rd Attorney General of the United States from 2015 to 2017. She was appointed by President Barack Obama to succeed Eric Holder and previously served as the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York under both President Bill Clinton (1999–2001) and Barack Obama (2010–2015).  No doubt, she owed allegiance to both Bill and Obama and through them, Hillary.  Being a woman, she would help exonerate her loss of the presidency and help to get even.  That's probably what the FBI lawyers thought, anyway, and she did speak with Bill at the airport while on the runway, a possible no-no being who she was.

Legal finding memos from the Attorney General's office must be done for lawful purposes, and doing on a man running for the presidency was pretty dicey.  It must be done for a lawful purpose and must be done by the FBI in a lawful investigation of Trump.  As it turned out, lawyer Strzok and his cohorts  created a false report/dossier and turned around and used it as proper evidence against Trump!  That took chutzpa!  They planned it so that their own department of the FBI would be reacting to a foreign intelligence threat shown in this dossier.

I'm getting this all from the article written by  Chris Farrell, Director of Investigations and Research for Judicial Watch, a watchdog group, nonprofit one, which is an updated version of what I've been following and writing about before.  Frankly, I hadn't heard about the FBI or dossier for over a year when I thought it would be exposed to the world way before now.  This dossier is old news.  Chris's background was as a counterintelligence case officer himself who ran double-agent operations and was used to such behaviors.

He notes that "neither the FBI or the Department of Justice gave Trump a "defensive security briefing that is standard when the FBI/DOJ comes upon a foreign counterintelligence threat to a U.S. organization or corporation.  NEVER.
"     At least he is bringing it up.

It has been known that this dossier was paid for by  Hillary Clinton  and the Democratic National Committee funding and involves the Russians somehow which would be a crime itself that hasn't been investigated as yet.  This is because of all the money that has been donated to Hillary's campaign by nefarious pockets, some of which are enemies of Israel, I note.

Farrell explains that the dossier was a crime against Trump.
There were crimes to facilitate these crimes and then there were crimes to cover up their illegal crimes.

"The FBI was established in 1908 as the Bureau of Investigation, the BOI or BI for short. Its name was changed to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in 1935. The FBI headquarters is the J. Edgar Hoover Building, located in Washington, D.C.  Comey was the head of the FBI when Hillary and Donald were running for the presidency.  Since then Donald has had to fire him. Earlier, "in the wake of the September 11 attacks, then–Attorney General Ashcroft assigned the FBI as the designated lead organization in terrorism investigations after the creation of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. ICE-   HSI and the FBI are both integral members of the Joint Terrorism Task Force.."

Remember when Trump ran for the office and had crowds chanting, LOCK HER UP?  I'm afraid that our justice system has been trying to get even for that and has been trying to do everything they can to lock Trump up and out of the presidential position.

Farrell suggests creating an investigative division within the US Marshals Service and transfer over honest FBI agents.  He thinks the FBI should end within 6 months so that we all can believe in an equal justice under the law.  He and others seem to feel there is no hope for it to be an honest producer after being contaminated as it has been with all this underhandedness.

I'm sure there are straight as an arrow honest people working in the FBI.  I know there are in the Justice Department.  It's terrible that a few in their secret society have damaged the whole name of a USA department.  Let this be a teaching moment and not let it happen again.  Those in leadership positions cannot allow something like this to happen again.  DON'T DO TO OTHERS WHAT YOU WOULD NOT WANT TO HAPPEN TO YOU.  It's the Golden Rule, folks.  Would Peter Stzok want these things to happen to him?

I haven't forgotten that President Trump had a TV program called, The Apprentice where he said, "You're Fired."  He's a tough boss.  The government shut down today because he is not getting enough money to build a wall between Mexico and the USA; another promise to constituents.  No, he's not like previous presidents.  He's  a former New York business CEO (Chief Executive Officer) , and he means what he says.  He's no politician; he deals in deal-making, though.

Part 4: Kurd's Position with Insights into Turkey and Russia's Reactions to Kurds Left in Syria

Nadene Goldfoot
Kurdistan, what the Kurds are fighting for, a veritable Garden of Eden.
Erbil, Kurdistan, Iraq has a little warmer weather similar to Gresham, Oregon today, from 43 right now
at 3:30pm but has been or will be 59 F Saturday and partly cloudy.

Kurdistan Government in blue  created again in 2017
Tan area is disputed territory-Erdogen would like to have for Turkey
The Kurds have been fighting ISIS with the USA, but now the USA is pulling out, especially after having a talk with Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogen.
Erdogen, Putin and relating to Trump

Trump talked to Erdogen today and asked him if he could"clean up the remaining 10% of ISIS and their Islamic State in Syria".  Erdogen had been planning on a trip to see the Kurds, all right.  I bet he'd love to do the cleaning up.

"Despite not having its own formalized country or state, Iraqi Kurdistan’s population of 5.2 million has opened their arms to hundreds of thousands of displaced families of different religions and ethnicities, providing housing, water and electricity services, and constructing schools, health centers, and transport offices."

What Erdogen did was to postpone his military offensive in northern Syria on the Kurds and ISIS, though will soon follow up with it.  Erdogen had planned an invasion against the  "Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces, the United States’ closest ally in the complex and devastating Syrian civil war.. Turkey is a NATO friend of the USA.  A problem is this. They were only a few days away from invading Syria as they are against the Syrian Democratic Force which are led by the Kurds.  The Turks are friend of the USA who are planning on attacking the USA's closest ally in this 4 year old war.  Turks are not friends of Kurds.

Where it used to be
"That delighted Turkey and the primary supporters of the Syrian government — Russia and Iran — while enraging Kurds and many American officials who saw it as abandoning a vulnerable ally. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis announced his resignation on Thursday, making clear that he opposed the Syria withdrawal, along with other presidential actions."

1835 and Kurdish Independent Kingdom
and the autonomous principalities-cities
During Ottoman Empire Days when Turkey Ruled

Turkey benefits from leaving the Kurds to fend for themselves because they have just created Kurdistan again, this time in 2017, the land they had lost, in the northern area of Iraq.  Their ancient Kurdistan would have covered the northern areas of Iran, Iraq and Syria.  They seem to be the major player in this scenario.  It was Erdogan who wanted this to happen after Trump and Putin had remarked that there was "no military solution to Syria's long-running Civil War.

Russia, the country that Trump wants to make "nice" with  praises Trump for this pull out.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has suggested Russia and the United States should pull their troops out of war-torn Syria after their leaders - Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump - said there was "no military solution" to the country's long-running conflict.

President Bashar al-Assad (left) and Vladimir Putin

Russia is also right there in Syria and has been throughout the Civil War there.  "In theory, Russia is there to fight against IS. But in practice, they also attack other anti-Assad rebels like the Kurds, who have been  backed by the West. In fact, Putin backs Syria's President Assad.  Putin needs to feather Russia's nest with goodies that Syria has to offer, like sea ports.

In 2016, "

Israeli professor says Jerusalem should endorse Kurdish aspirations in war-torn Syria, and they can help defeat Islamic State."  We know now that they have helped up to this date to obliterate 90% of the ISIS hold on the land.  We all wonder how they will do with the US leaving them now?  Israel has about 50,000 Kurdish Jews in it's 6 million Jewish population that are backing the Kurds in their need to have their own state, something they had in Biblical days and again in the 1800s.  The Kurds have turned out to be great warriors, as the USA has discovered.

After the main Syrian Kurdish group officially declared areas under its control in northern Syria a federalized autonomous region this week, the Syrian regime and opposition, as well as Turkey, immediately rejected the declaration.

This US ship is near Ankara, Turkey, could be used to
move US soldiers from Syria
Trump is adamant about pulling out the US troops and may pull out some stationed in Afghanistan as well very soon.  This change in plans came after the
talk with Erdogen.  We need to be reminded that this was part of his proposal when he was running for office, and evidently he meant it then and means it now.  The question of whether he realized the situation this leaves the Kurds in with Turkey's army is not known.

Turkey has been a thorn in Israel's side at least since the flotilla disagreement between the 2 countries.  Israel had the right to board their ship in search of weapons but that didn't help matters.  Israel wound up paying retribution shekels to Turkey because of it that was a humongous amount.  There are many wonderful people in Turkey.  I hope they can help to soften the attitude towards these wonderful fighters, the Kurds who have helped Turkey to be free of them as much as Syria and Israel and the rest of the Middle East.

The fear is that when the 2,000 Americans leave, Turkey will attack the Kurds in Syria and Assad's army will join them. Putin will add his Russians into the fray.  American soldiers would have to return.    Turkey, Syria and Russia  will be attacking these Kurds. If Israel joins in, all the rest of the Muslim states surrounding them will join in the battle and a war we don't want will begin with the Palestinians getting their licks in right away.  I sure hope I'm wrong.
