Houthi Cabinet, Prime Minister Wiped Out After Attacking Others

  Nadene Goldfoot

Ahmed al-Rahawi, the prime minister of Yemen’s Houthi-led government in Sanaa, was killed in an Israeli air strike on 28 August 2025.(Livemint)

After being hit by many intercontinenatal ballistic missiles coming from Houthi terrorists in Yemen, Israel has retaliated by taking out their Prime Minister and other ministers, their connection to Iran who has been supplying them with orders and arms.

Aug 30 (Reuters) - The prime minister of Yemen's Houthi-run government and several other ministers were killed in an Israeli strike on the capital Sanaa, the head of the Houthi Supreme Political Council said on Saturday, in the first such attack to kill senior officials. Sources confirmed to Reuters that the energy, foreign and information ministers were among those killed.
                               Mahdi al-Mashat,
is a Yemeni politician and military officer who serves as the chairman of the Supreme Political Council, the executive body of the Houthi movement.
A number of others were wounded in Thursday's strike, Mahdi al-Mashat added, without providing details.  The Houthis are an arm of Iran.
Mashat's statement did not make clear whether the Houthi defence minister was among the casualties.
Former Deputy, Al-Allamah Muhammed Miftah assumes the duty of Prime Minister of Yemen following the now Martyring of Al-Rahawi.
Ahmad Ghaleb al-Rahawi was appointed as prime minister a year ago, but the de- facto leader of the government was his deputy, Mohammed Miftah, who was assigned on Saturday to carry out the prime minister's duties.
Rahawi was seen largely as a figurehead who was not part of the inner circle of the Houthi leadership.
Yemen has been split between a Houthi administration in Sanaa and a Saudi-backed government in Aden.
The Houthis released footage showing the Eternity C sinking after it was hit by rocket-propelled grenades
Since Israel's war in Gaza against the Palestinian militant group Hamas began in October 7,  2023, the Iran-aligned Houthis have attacked vessels in the Red Sea in what they describe as acts of solidarity with the Palestinians.  Yes, the Houthi rebels from Yemen continue to attack vessels in the Red Sea with drones and missiles, claiming their actions are in protest of Israel's war in Gaza. Recent attacks in July 2025 included the sinking of two Greek-owned cargo ships, the Magic Seas and the Eternity Sea, with several crew members killed and others taken hostage or rescued. These attacks are a resurgence of Houthi maritime operations and have significantly impacted global shipping, diverting trade to longer routes around the Cape of Good Hope.
Yemen's Houthi rebels have once again targeted maritime traffic in the Red Sea, sinking the Liberian-flagged cargo vessel Eternity C. The attack resulted in at least three crew fatalities, with only six out of the 25 crew members rescued so far. The Houthis have been carrying out assaults on shipping in the Red Sea, framing their campaign as support for the Palestinians amid the ongoing Israeli-Hamas conflict.
New ballistic missile, which they said took about 11 minutes to travel that distance from Yemen to Israel, a new type of hypersonic missile, and the incident led to a strong response from Israel, including airstrikes on Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen.
They have also frequently fired missiles towards Israel, most of which have been intercepted. Israel has responded with strikes on Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen, including the vital Hodeidah port.
During the last year, Israel carried out a series of assassinations targeting senior leaders and commanders of Hamas and its Lebanese ally Hezbollah, significantly weakening both groups..
On Thursday, Israeli security sources had said the targets had been various locations where a large number of senior Houthi officials had gathered to watch a televised speech recorded by leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi.
Khaled Mashal
born 28 May 1956) age 69,  is a Palestinian politician who served as the second chairman of the Hamas Political Bureau from 1996 until May 2017, when he was succeeded by Ismail Haniyeh. He has also covered duties as the acting leader of Hamas twice, from July 2024 until August 2024 and since October 2024, after both leaders were assassinated by Israel.  He has been living in Qatar.  You can believe that he is best friends with the head of Qatar.
The head of state and government in Qatar is the Emir, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al ThaniHe has reigned as the Emir since June 25, 2013, succeeding his father, Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
"Our stance remains as it is and will remain until the aggression ends and the siege is lifted, no matter how great the challenges," Mashat said in a televised speech, adding that the group "shall take revenge."
Who's next to step up to the plate and become a martyr?

It Was Hard to Be A Jew In England

 Nadene Goldfoot

Edward I was king of England in 1290.  Edward I, byname Edward Longshanks, (born June 17, 1239, Westminster, Middlesex, England—died July 7, 1307, Burgh by Sands, near Carlisle, Cumberland), son of Henry III and king of England in 1272–1307, during a period of rising national consciousness.

For starters, England expulsed any Jews they had in 1290 and didn't allow any back in the country until 1655.  That means there weren't any Jews living in England for 365 years !

The heavy tax was passed, and three days later, on 18 July, the Edict of Expulsion was issued. One official reason for the expulsion was that Jews had declined to follow the Statute of Jewry and continued to practice usury.

Now this is almost laughable because loaning money usually was asked of first by the royalty in a country.  Loaning money was the only profession allowed to Jews in most cases.  They weren't allowed to own land, for instance.

Since the time of the Norman Conquest, Jews had been filling a small but vital role in the English economy. Usury by Christians was forbidden at the time by the Church of Rome, but Jews were permitted to act as moneylenders and bankers. That enabled some Jews to amass tremendous wealth, but also earned them enmity, which added to the increasing antisemitic sentiments of the time, due to widespread indebtedness and financial ruin among the gentile population.

Edward I returned from the Crusades in 1274, two years after his accession as King of England, and found that land had become a commodity, and that many of his subjects had become dispossessed and were in danger of destitution. Jews traded land for money, and land was often mortgaged to Jewish moneylenders. In January 1275 Edward's mother, the Queen Dowager Eleanor of Provenceexpelled the Jews from all of her lands, a precursor to the Statute enacted later the same year.

As special direct subjects of the monarch, Jews could be taxed indiscriminately by the King. Some have described this situation as indirect usury: the monarch permitted and encouraged Jews to practise usury and then taxed the profit.

In the years leading up to the Statute, Edward taxed them heavily to help finance his forthcoming military campaigns in Wales, which began in 1277. One theory holds that he had exhausted the financial resources of the Jewish community when the Statute was passed in 1275.Remember-by 1290 all Jews had to leave England.

Provisions: Usury was outlawed in every form.1066 to 1290-

In 1066 Jews had entered with Norman Conquest-just a handful of financiers followed William the Conqueror from the Continent.  The Norman Conquest prompted the arrival of Jews to England for the first time. William I needed to borrow large sums of money to consolidate his position as the King of England and he turned to Jewish merchants from Rouen, Normandy to provide him with this much-needed income. Lending money with interest or ‘usury’ was forbidden to Christians and considered a sin. As a result, the English king paved the way for Jewish individuals to migrate and settle across the Channel. Jews and Christians now lived alongside each other in settlements across the country.

  • Debtors of Jews were no longer liable for certain debts.
  • Jews were not allowed to live outside certain cities and towns.
  • Any Jew above the age of seven had to wear a yellow badge of felt in the form of Two Tables Joined on his or her outer clothing, six inches by three inches.
  • All Jews from the age of 12 on had to pay a special tax of three pence annually.
  • Christians were forbidden to live among Jews.
  • Jews were licensed to buy farmland to make their living for the next 15 years.
  • Jews could thenceforth make a living in England only as merchants, farmers, craftsmen or soldiers.

"Of the 12 million inhabitants of England in 1819, there were only 20,000 to 30,000 Jews;  at least 2/3rds of whom lived in London.  The 19th century Jewish population was undergoing a major shift from Sephardic to Ashkenazic leadership.  With growing numbers of Jews immigrating from Germany and Poland into England, the Ashkenazim (Jews with ancestors from Northern, eastern, and Central Europe) began to take over the reins of leadership that had been dominated by the Sephardim (Jews whose ancestors originated from the Mediterranean rim). "

           Oliver Cromwell-25 April 1599-September 3, 1658

"Wealthy Sephardi families had dominated the Jewish community since the 18th century when Oliver Cromwell,   an English statesman, politician and soldier, widely regarded as one of the most important figures in the history of the British Isles came to prominence during the 1639 to 1653 Wars of the Three Kingdoms, initially as a senior commander in the Parliamentarian army and latterly as a politician, and allowed Jews to resettle into England. "

England passed the "Jew Bill of 1753 that allowed Jews to become natural citizens, but it was repealed the very next year, and there was a continued denial of equal rights to Jews.

A Jewish candidate, Lionel de Rothschild (1808-1879), was elected as one of the four members of Parliament for the City of London in 1847 but could not take his seat without taking a Christian oath of office. As a consequence, on Monday, 26 July 1858, Lionel de Rothschild took the oath with covered head, substituting "so help me, Jehovah" for the ordinary form of oath, and thereupon took his seat as the first Jewish member of Parliament; David Salomons was re-elected for Greenwich in a by-election and took his seat in early 1859. Two years later a more general form of oath for all members of Parliament was introduced, which freed the Jews from all cause of exclusion. That would be the day of emancipation for Jews of England, 1861 would be the proper date.  Ironically, 1861 is also the date when Abraham Lincoln took office as President of the USA.  He was assassinated in 1865 for his Civil War in freeing the slaves and emancipating them.

He had financed the English purchase of the Suez Canal shares in 1875 and was the first Jewish member of parliament in 1858.  His son, however, Nathaniel, succeeded him as head of the banking -house and was the first Jewish  peer in 1885 and one of the outstanding Jews in his time.

During the period of overt anti-Semitism, many Sephardic families sought full entry into English life by adopting more extreme Hellenistic and Anglican ways, by abandoning the synagogue, even by raising their children as Christians. That is the most extreme form of Hellenization that I have run across, bar none.  Evidently they were already from such Hellenized families that conversion didn't mean much to them in a change of their lives.  One wonders if perhaps the family were already Marranos-secret Jews since 1492- from the Spanish Inquisition.  The most prominent example of this trend was the Disraeli family.

As it was, Isaac D'Israeli had a son, Benjamin, who grew up to be Benjamin Disraeli, Earl of Beaconsfield who was born in 1804 and died in 1881.  He had become a British statesman.  When he was 13, his father, who had become estranged from the synagogue, had him baptized.  The age of 13 causes me to think the argument was over his to be-bar mitzvah.  Perhaps he didn't want any Hebrew reading in it, and the synagogue expected it to be a normal bar matzvah.  Another resource mentions his conversion at 12, so it must have.  After unsuccessful ventures in business, he made a reputation by his brilliant novel, Vivian Grey that he wrote in 1826.  The catastrophe at the conclusion provides Vivian with a brutal but essential lesson in human behaviour. The novel offers a comment on the political and social temper of England in the early 1820s, and is specifically concerned with the question of personal advancement in a rigidly restrictive social structure.

From 1828 to 1831 he traveled through the Mediterranean, spending some time in Palestine.  That's interesting.  Was he searching for answers?  At least he was curious about his heritage.

On his return to England, he entered politics and after initial failure, was elected to parliament in 1837 as a Tory.  though at first howled down in the House of Commons, he became the spokesman of the inarticulate Protectionist right-wing when the official Conservative Party under Peel went over to Free Trade in 1845.

In the course of the next few years, he revived the Party and became its official parliamentary leader.  Meanwhile, he continued his literary career, publishing a series of outstanding political novels.

In 1868  Disraeli became Prime Minister briefly before losing that year's general election. Disraeli became Prime Minister once again in 1874, aged 70. This was a successful premiership, though it has been said that the legislation of this time depended much less upon Dizzy himself than upon his Cabinet colleagues. The 1880 election was lost to the Liberals, a narrow loss in terms of votes cast. Disraeli threw himself into the job of Opposition, and was active until a month before his death from bronchitis in April 1881. On his deathbed, he is reported to have said: “I had rather live but I am not afraid to die”.

Throughout his career, he never ceased to proclaim his sympathy with and admiration for the Jewish people, to which he was proud to trace his origin.  He championed Jewish emancipation in parliament, almost identified himself with a medieval messianic pretender in his early work, Alroy, delineated an idealized Rothschild as "Sidonia," a principal character in his novels Coningshy and Tancred, spoke of Christianity as a development of Judaism, and ascribed exaggerated qualities to the Jewish "race."

"Benjamin 'Dizzy' Disraeli was the son of Isaac, a Jewish Italian writer, and had an Anglican upbringing after the age of 12. With Jews excluded from Parliament until 1858, this enabled Disraeli to follow a career that would otherwise have been denied him. He was Britain's first, and so far only, Jewish Prime Minister."

At the start of World War II (WWII), the Jewish population in the United Kingdom (UK) was approximately 370,000-390,000 people.

Going into the 19th century, the Jewish population was small, likely no more than 20,000 individuals. However, the population quadrupled in just a few decades after 1881 as a large number of Jews fled oppression in the Russian Empire. The population increased by as much as 50% between 1933 and 1945, with the United Kingdom admitting around 70,000 Jews between 1933 and 1938, and a further 80,000 between 1938 and 1945. The late 1940s and early 1950s proved to be the high point, numerically speaking, for British Jewry.

In 1990, the Jewish population of Great Britain with N. Ireland was estimated at 330,000.

Portland, Oregon in 1980 had  366,373 population.

Benjamin Netanyahu Defending His Past Prime Minister Position

 Nadene Goldfoot

Benjamin Netanyahu, born 21 October 1949 in Israel, 10 years older than Benny Gantz, will be 73 years old in October.

Who wasn't proud of Benjamin Netanyahu when he spoke to the world?  Who has ever been more articulate, speaking from his heart, and in his 2nd language?  Netanyahu has the reputation of being an outstanding leader for the tiny-most often disliked newly formed state of Israel from April 14,1948, so disliked by the UN, the body that originally, as the League of Nations, had decided to back the Jewish Homeland and had put that responsibility in the hands of Great Britain for the next 30 years to do so.  Netanyahu spoke and made me proud! His first language was Hebrew, yet he could teach Americans the art of oration.   His brilliance shone over Obama's statements, even.

Obama and Netanyahu were at odds over the 1967 border line which Obama wanted Israel to return to, and Netanyahu had to explain why this was a terrible idea.

In October 2014, author Jeffrey Goldberg related a conversation in which Goldberg said that a senior official of the Obama administration called Netanyahu a "chickenshit" after Netanyahu accused U.S. President Barack Obama of "acting contrary to American values". Goldberg went on to say that Netanyahu and his cabinet were largely to blame for the tensions between the Netanyahu and Obama governments.

Secretary of State John Kerry phoned Netanyahu to clarify that "such statements are disgraceful, unacceptable and damaging" and "do not reflect the position of the United States."  (Needless to say, the feelings between Obama and Netanyahu were greatly strained.  Obama was the USA's speaker who wowed the country with his words, thus winning the presidential position. These 2 speakers were like bulls taking on each other at a rodeo.)

"2015: In the end, Netanyahu’s speech did not prevent the implementation of the nuclear deal with Iran; Obama won that fight. But it did help him recover in the polls and, against all odds, win another term as Israel’s prime minister—a victory that ensured Netanyahu’s political career would outlive that of his American rival."

Netanyahu has other politicians who have wanted his position.  Like animals of the jungle, they have been merciless.  We heard he was in deep waters for accepting a box of cigars.  His wife is another pressure, no doubt, for needing things.  What has taken place?

Sara Ben-Artzi b: November 5, 1948,  (later Netanyahu) was born in the northern Israeli town of Kiryat Tiv'on, near Haifa. Her father, Shmuel Ben-Artzi, was a Polish-born Israeli Jewish educator, author, poet and biblical scholar, who died in 2011 at the age of 96. Her mother, Chava (née Paritzky; 1922–2003), was a sixth-generation Jerusalemite.

Klein has been testifying as part of the public corruption trial in Case 1000, the “Illegal Gifts Affair,” against the former prime minister. Klein’s testimony marks a transition away from media bribery in Case 4000, the “Bezeq-Walla Affair, which has dominated the trial since witnesses started testifying a year ago.  “Mr. Netanyahu called me from his office,” said Klein. “I said to him that I had been [unfairly] hit with threatening screams [by Sara Netanyahu], and that I had received a very difficult call over something where I had done nothing wrong. He said to me that I just did not understand,” and that Klein should give Sara all of the cigars and champagne she wanted because they had gotten it approved by a legal adviser.

                               1997 with Sara and Bibi

Sara Netanyahu (Hebrewשרה נתניהוnée Ben-Artzi; born 5 November 1958) is the wife of former Israeli Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahu. By profession, she is an educational and career psychologist.

Benjamin "Bibi" Netanyahu (/ˌnɛtɑːnˈjɑːh/; Hebrewבִּנְיָמִין נְתַנְיָהוּ ; born 21 October 1949) is an Israeli politician who served as the ninth prime minister of Israel from 1996 to 1999 and from 2009 to 2021. Netanyahu currently serves as Leader of the Opposition and as the chairman of the Likud – National Liberal Movement. He served in office for a total of 15 years, making him the longest-serving Israeli prime minister in history. He was also the first prime minister to be born in Israel after its Declaration of Independence.

According to Efraim Zuroff of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, during the visit of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in Jerusalem, Netanyahu failed to publicly address Ukraine's official policy of rehabilitating local Nazi collaborators like UPA leader Roman Shukhevych, who had participated in the murder of Jews. (I would remind all that he is a politician and had a guest he didn't want to publically offend.  What they spoke about in private was their business. This is a situational problem for many Israelis as the Ukrainians have a bad reputation  as to what they had happen to Jews during WWII.  Zuroff shouldn't had been so shocked !!

Netanyahu has developed a close relationship with Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro following Bolsonaro's election in 2018.

Netanyahu and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan have tense relations. In March 2019, after being denounced by Turkey as a racist for saying that Israel was the nation-state of the Jewish people only, Netanyahu called Erdoğan a dictator and mocked him for imprisoning journalists in a tweet. In response, Erdoğan called Netanyahu as "the thief who heads Israel", referencing the ongoing corruption scandals against Netanyahu. In the same speech, Erdoğan further escalated the spat by addressing to Netanyahu directly, saying, "you are a tyrant. You are a tyrant who slaughters 7-year-old Palestinian kids", and further in April 2018, calling Israel "terror state" and Netanyahu "terrorist". Netanyahu tweeted that "Erdoğan is among Hamas's biggest supporters and there is no doubt that he well understands terrorism and slaughter." Netanyahu condemned the 2019 Turkish offensive into north-eastern Syria and warned against ethnic cleansing of Kurds by Turkey and its proxies.  Right now, Israel and Turkey are friendly, but they have a long history of being enemies.  Remember the ship carrying weapons for Israel's enemies?  On 31 May 2010, Israeli Shayetet 13 naval commandos boarded the ships from speedboats and helicopters in order to force the ships to the Israeli port of Ashdod for inspection. On the Turkish ship MV Mavi Marmara, according to the Israel's own Turkel Commission, the Israeli Navy faced resistance from about 40 of the 590 passengers, including IHH activists – described in the commission's report as a separate "hardcore group" – who were said to be armed with iron bars and knives.

Netanyahu may know Donald Trump's family better than any American.  "Netanyahu and former U.S. President Donald Trump have known each other for many years. Netanyahu had been a friend of Donald Trump's father, Fred, when Netanyahu lived in New York during the 1980s, serving as UN ambassador. "During the 1980s, Fred Trump became friends with future prime minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu, who at the time was the Israeli ambassador to the United Nations." Fred was a man who had gone out of his way to impress Jewish people, feeling guilty about his German ancestry, his 1st language.  He had a lot of Jewish rentals he didn't want to scare away.  Fred suffered in the end from  Alzheimer's disease.

]In 2013, Trump made a video endorsing Netanyahu during the Israeli elections saying, "vote for Benjamin – terrific guy, terrific leader, great for Israel". In June 2019, Netanyahu officially renamed a settlement in the disputed Golan Heights after Donald Trump."

Golda Meir, PM of Israel Born in Ukraine

 Nadene Goldfoot

Golda Meyerson, changed to Golda Meir, was born on May 3, 1898 and died on December 8, 1978 at age 80.  She was born in Kiev, Ukraine, Russia and immigrated to the USA when 8 years old with her parents, Moshe and Bluma Mabovitch nee Neiditch,  who were having economic hardships in 1906.
                    Golda before 1910

The Mabovitch family had fled their home in part to escape pogroms (mob attacks) that had been carried out against Jews in Russia at the time. Meir later recalled that her childhood terror of anti-Semitic (anti-Jewish) violence strongly influenced her later commitment to establish Israel as  a safe and secure state. They settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  In 1905, Moshe had moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in search of higher-paying work, and found employment in the workshops of the local railroad yard. The following year, he had saved up enough money to bring his family to the United States. He had gone to New York first, in 1903, to find work, so Bluma and the children had gone to Pinsk, Belarus to be with her family, there.

Golda made aliyah to Palestine in 1921 with her husband, Morris Myerson. who she married in 1917 at age 19.

After arriving in Palestine, the Myersons joined a kibbutz (a communal settlement) where after some training they were put in charge of the chicken farm. However, Golda's husband became ill, and the couple decided to move to Tel Aviv. The couple eventually moved to Jerusalem where their two children were born. In Jerusalem, Golda found work as treasurer of the Office of Public Works of the Histadruth, a labor organization that included kibbutz workers and that became the most important economic organization in the Israeli state.

She was active in Labor Zionism and held important posts in the Histadrut and Jewish Agency.  When the pre-state British Mandatory Authorities imprisoned most of the Jewish community’s senior leadership in 1946, she replaced Moshe Sharett as head of the  Political Department, the chief Jewish liaison with the British.

In 1948 when Israel was born, Golda was the first Israel minister in the USSR.  A Mapai member of the Knesset since 1949, she was minister of Labor in successive governments  of 1949 to 1956.

In 1969 she was chosen to succeed Levi Eshkol as Israel's Prime Minister, in which capacity she served during the YOM KIPPUR WAR.   she was reelected at the end of 1973 but retired in 1974.  She wrote the book which I have read, My Life.  It is excellent.

Though aging and in poor health at 71, Meir proved her abilities to the country during her initial nine-month term. As a result, her Labor Party won the 1969 elections. Meir thus gained her own four-year term as prime minister. This period was marked by Meir's efforts to gain U.S. aid in the form of military and economic assistance. The assurances she won from U.S. president Richard Nixon (1913–1994) helped her open peace talks with the United Arab Republic in 1967, during which one of the several conflicts between Israel and its Arab neighbors (known as the Arab-Israeli Wars) had occurred.

Golda is known for her superb logical quotes. “We can forgive the Arabs for killing our children. We cannot forgive them for forcing us to kill their children. We will only have peace with the Arabs when they love their children more than they hate us.”
