                         PLO Leader Yasser Arafat 1969-2004

It started with Yasser Arafat in 1959.  Yasser Arafat became the chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) in 1969, succeeding Ahmed Shukairy. He led the PLO until his death in 2004. Prior to leading the PLO, Arafat co-founded the Fatah movement in 1959, which aimed for Palestinian independence. He also served as the President of the Palestinian Authority (PA ) from 1994 until his death.

The Khartoum meeting of Arab leaders, known as the Khartoum Resolution, took place from August 29 to September 1, 1967 after losing in the Six Day War with Israel. This meeting, held in Khartoum, Sudan, occurred shortly after the Six-Day War and resulted in the famous "Three No's" declaration: no peace with Israel, no recognition of Israel, and no negotiations with Israel. The Arab League Summit also addressed the need for Arab solidarity and efforts to eliminate the effects of the recent aggression.  While Arafat was a prominent figure in Palestinian nationalism at the time, he was not a head of state or government, and thus not part of the Arab League summit. 

The First Palestinian Intifada, also known as the First Palestinian Uprising, began on December 9, 1987. The uprising was ignited by an incident in which an Israeli military truck collided with a vehicle carrying Palestinian workers, killing four of them, near the Jabalia refugee camp in the Gaza Strip. 

Jabalia Camp, located in the North Gaza Governorate, is the largest Palestinian refugee camp in the Gaza Strip. It was established in 1948 by the United Nations to accommodate Palestinians who were displaced or expelled from their homes during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. 

• The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) plays a crucial role in providing essential services to Jabalia residents, including education, healthcare, relief and social services, infrastructure development, microfinance, and emergency response.  UNRWA operates 32 installations in Jabalia, including 16 school buildings accommodating 26 schools, a food distribution center, and health centers.  Funding for UNRWA activities is primarily from voluntary contributions from UN member states. 

Hamas came into being  in late 1987 at the beginning of the first Palestinian intifada (uprising). Its roots are in the Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, and it is supported by a robust sociopolitical structure inside the Palestinian territories.

With the establishment of the Palestinian Authority in 1994, no significant change occurred to the administrative or political representation of refugees. While the UNRWA continued to supervise the camps, the first municipal council was founded in Gaza City on 26 July 1994, and this time it included one member from Shati' camp, while the municipalities of Rafah , Khan Yunis , and Deir al-Balah continued to represent refugees in their locales.

 During the Second Intifada (2000–2005), Fatah intensified armed conflict against Israel, claiming responsibility for a number of suicide attacks. Fatah had been closely identified with the leadership of its founder and chairman, Yasser Arafat, until his death in 2004.  

In 2005, Israel disengaged from the Gaza Strip by dismantling all 21 Israeli settlements there. As part of this process, four Israeli settlements in the West Bank were dismantled as well. This was done in the name of peace;  giving land Israel had inherited from the Six Day War.  Ever since, it became a platform from which to shoot from closer into Israel. 

How did Hamas come to power in Gaza in the first place? That history is worth revisiting now, two and a half weeks into the war, as it tests whether Biden’s point is true.

Update: 7/28/25:  The U.S. Congress, including Senator Biden as a key co-sponsor, enacted the Palestinian Anti-Terrorism Act in December 2006, which codified the policy of prohibiting U.S. assistance to any Palestinian unity government involving Hamas unless these conditions were met. 

• A RAND Corporation publication states that the US, under both Bush and Obama, had a flawed policy toward Gaza that included pushing for elections despite Palestinian and Israeli reservations, which played a significant role in enabling Hamas to seize power.

It was in January 2006 that the Palestinian territories held what turned out to be their last parliamentary elections. Hamas won a bare plurality of votes (44 percent to the more moderate Fatah party’s 41 percent) but, given the electoral system, a strong majority of seats (74 to 45). Neither party was keen on sharing power. Fighting broke out between the two. When a unity government was finally formed in June 2007, Hamas broke the deal, started murdering Fatah members, and, in the end, took total control of the Gaza Strip. Those who weren’t killed fled to the West Bank, and the territories have remained split ever since.

 On 20 February,2006  Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was nominated to form a new government. The new government with Haniyeh as Prime Minister was sworn in on 29 March. As of May 2025, no new elections have been held since this one.  He died on  31 July 2024 at age 63 in Tehran, Iran by assassination.           

      Mahmoud Abbas born 15 November 1935), also known by the kunya Abu Mazen (Arabic: أَبُو مَازِن,  is a Palestinian politician who has been serving as the second president of Palestine and the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) since 2005;  20 years already.  He's going to be 90 years old.  

  Farouk Kaddoumi constitutionally succeeded Arafat to the position of Fatah Chairman and continued in the position until 2009, when Abbas was elected chairman. Since Arafat's death, factionalism within the ideologically diverse movement has become more apparent.

Are there really a million Gazans starving?  Who counted them?  It's Hamas who is responsible for they started this war and will not end it.  It's either allow them to slaughter Israelis or defend Israelis that Netanyahu's responsibility lies. When a country is attacked, you'd expect that country to defend its population.  

When a country attacks another, you'd think they'd have plans if there were returned fire and be ready to defend their own.  But if it's part of a weird plan to gain hatred for their target, they would encourage it to happen.  It's their new ammunition, free and easy to spread;  people are so willing to hate Jews.

Are teens and adult Gazans getting enough food?  Hamas terrorists are.  I haven't seen any grown Gazans walking around looking like Holocaust survivors did; only the babies.  Are they being sacrificed in the name of their holy war against Israel?  

The thing that hurts Jews the most in this world is to see a starving person; and essen is their favorite word in Yiddish-eat, eat.  Hamas knows how to hit us below the belt!   This is gut wrenching for us, too, but we know how their parents sacrificed their 18 year olds by allowing them to become terrorists, and would brag about how they fought for Hamas!!  Now Hamas expects them to with hold food from their babies because it makes better PR.  Look at the adults today;  they look normal, not starving.  Hamas members will never starve.   

You think the pictures are horrible?  Jews are crying out against it even more, believe me.  It's too close to what their families have endured.  

How about the terrorists' parents-relatives?  They voted in Hamas.  They are not emaciated like their babies.  Why?  

USA companies and Israeli companies have brought in food and now the roads are blocked by Hamas.  No other country is helping the USA with food except Israel.  They only supply criticism.  

So It's Come to the Pot Calling the Kettle Black: Iran's Threats Over Jerusalem

Iran is now threatening Israel over Jerusalem.  If there is anymore fighting there, Iran will step in.  Israeli police had to step in to stop the rioting and all that goes with rioting on the Temple Mount during that seems to be one of the sparks that set off the 11 day war with Hamas in Gaza.  

According to Palestinian reports, "Hamas leader Ismael Haniyeh said that Israel would “pay a price” for the clashes at the mosque, "Islam’s 3rd"  holiest sites.  Iran is backing this up by reiterating that the threat will also include Iran punishing Israel as well.  It just reminds us that it is Iran who supplies Hamas with weapons to use against Israel.  

What they are asking for, pie in the sky, actually is that Israel can do nothing to any attack coming from Palestinians on the Temple Mount or any other place in Jerusalem, such as East Jerusalem, the neighborhood made up of Palestinians.  Any attempt to quell such attacks coming from Arabs, such as stone throwing, knifing of Jews, bombs, fire attacks, fighting, bombs, etc. will be met with war.  

The hilltop on which it sits is the holiest place in the world for Jews as the site of the two biblical temples — making it a flashpoint for nationalist sentiment and violence between Israelis and Palestinians.                          

Now that the 11 day war is over, Blinkon from the USA has visited and seen the problem areas and is still pressing for a 2-State Solution.  He's rewarding the Palestinians with money and materials saying it's not for Hamas but for the Palestinians (?) and HE expects this to be actually carried out.  Who in the world is going to police it?  Not the Palestinians themselves, or even the PA.  The reasoning is beyond my comprehension.  

                                                            

        Israel map;  Golan Heights not occupied but part of Israel.  8,000 sq miles country, exceedingly small, and chopped up.  Giving Gaza for peace did not bring peace but war with daily attacks of rockets into Israel.  Taking the Golan in 1967 when Israel won against all odds, the miracle of the century, was a strategic blessing.  It's a very high place where bombs could be dropped down on the plain, and by taking it, stopped those attacks.  Just remember, the biblical Israel took place in Judea-Samaria (West Bank).  Whoever drew these plans up (England)(Arabs)  were meshugana.  

In July 2012, a government-commissioned report from a three-member committee, called Levy Report, asserted, based on a number of reasons, that there is no legal basis under international law to refer to Judea and Samaria as "occupied territory". Article 43 of the Fourth Hague Convention of 1907 is the basis of the Levy committee's opinion.

What France and the USA expect, now, that Gazans who have been under the direction of Hamas since Obama's visit to Cairo in 2009 will suddenly sing Kum By-Yah and make nice with Israel is ludicrous- a dream.  The 2-State solution did look good once upon a time, but is not workable in real life;  too many complications, too many variables.  

When the USA can solve their own problems of riots and their racial problems, then maybe that will be a cue for Palestinians to make peace and accept Israel in the Middle East, ignore Iran's "assistance" and while I'm dreaming, that Iran will suddenly have Ayatollahs who are peaceful as well and stop financing terrorism.  Such backing of Palestinians are getting now from the USA is the kind of slap on the back that tells them, as they read into things, that all is well with what they have been doing to Israel and to keep it up.  Their claim of winning the 11 day war, saying that Israel only wiped out only 5% of their tunnels, all their boasting says that this calm or cease fire right now will not last forever.  They're just getting revved up.

                                                                  

France, a leading Christian country in Europe, pushing against Israel and warning that they are becoming an apartheid state is the straw that broke my camel's back.  "Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday denounced French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian for saying earlier this week that Israel is at risk of “long-lasting apartheid” if a Palestinian state is not established."  

Netanyahu rejected Le Drian’s comments as “an insolent, false claim that has no basis. In the State of Israel, all citizens are equal before the law, regardless of their ethnicity. Israel is a beacon of democracy and human rights in our region… We will not suffer any hypocritical and false moral rebukes on this matter.”

This is an old saw that had already been used against Israel.  The truth is that Israel is the opposite of an apartheid state.   Also, as I think about South Africa and Israel and compare the two, South Africa was at peace with their neighbors and not in the midst of defending herself constantly and they did practice apartheid.    Israel is on the defensive 100% all the time.  They don't have time or patience to be apartheid to Arabs.  They do their utmost to give them the treatment like all Israelis get.  If its so bad in Israel, they could always move over to Jordan which is made up mostly of Palestinians, anyway.  Or they could travel to 48 Muslim majority nations.  They have a choice.  Israelis have no other choices, not even Russia, or England.  I suppose the USA is the only open country today for Jews.  However, those in Israel intend to stay put.  They will not be frightened away.  They understand why Israel was created again and its importance.  

They even have been allowed their own schools too much, in my opinion,   "Israeli schoolbooks were deemed superior to Palestinian ones with regard to preparing children for peace, but the study in 2009 praised both Israel and the Palestinian Authority for producing textbooks almost completely unblemished by "dehumanizing and demonizing characterizations of the other". The study appeared to undermine a charge, often used by Israel to delegitimize Palestinian claims that they were ready for statehood, according to which Palestinians were "educated to hate". With regard to maps, 4% of Palestinian maps mark the Green Line, or label the area west of it as "Israel", 6 out of 10 omit borders, while another third include the green line without reference to Israel; 76% of Israeli textbook maps fail to distinguish the Palestinian territories and Israel, and the Palestinian areas lack labelling, implying that the Palestinian areas form part of Israel."  That study was done 12 years ago.  It's time for another, not only textbooks.  

I don't know if this study includes TV children's programs or not that I have 

personally watched, but they were slanted against Israel.

This either shows that France and all the many other countries in step with his comments, want Israel to be destroyed, as surely being rewarded as a state would bring them more arms to use against Israel and more clout to use against them as if they don't have enough of both now as it is.  The 20% Arab population in Israel now has every benefit of a 1st class citizen.  They have their own political parties in voting on Israel's issues.  They have every right, and you know, they even look like most Jews.  There is little color distinction to make their lives more complicated.  The only thing they don't have right now is that they don't have to serve in the IDF, though many groups do serve gladly, insisting on serving, both males and females.  

This is not the time for a 2 State Solution.  It's time for the Palestinians and any other Arab group who attended the Khartoum Conference in Africa in 1967 who swore the 3 NOs,, that of never making peace with Israel, to amend that statement and change it to accepting Israel as a nation among their own nations as it once was so long ago.  Hatred is only gaining loss of life, and loss of land and loss of food, clothing;   life's little luxuries. 

It's time for this kind of change, not for rewarding bad behavior and attacking Israel.

One Way Israel Attempted to Help Palestinians After Deplorable 1967 War

The shock to Israel and the Palestinian Arabs was that Israel won the war started by all the Arabs on June 5, 1967 and lasted 6 days, ending June 11th. 
In those days, Jordanian Arabs were ruled by King Hussein.  After what the war had cost Israel in lives, started by the Arabs' greed and hatred, Hussein created 242 in the UN asking that Israel go back to the lines before 1967.  In other words, Israel was expected to retreat to where they were before this unwanted, unwarranted war in exchange for peace.  

What the Arabs had done to Jerusalem after 1948 when they took the eastern part was terrible.  "Upon its capture by the Arab Legion, the Jewish Quarter of the Old City was destroyed and its residents expelled. Fifty-eight synagogues--some hundreds of years old--were destroyed, their contents looted and desecrated. Some Jewish religious sites were turned into chicken coops or animal stalls. The Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives, where Jews had been burying their dead for over 2500 years, was ransacked; graves were desecrated; thousands of tombstones were smashed and used as building material, paving stones or for latrines in Arab Legion army camps. The Intercontinental Hotel was built on top of the cemetery and graves were demolished to make way for a highway to the hotel. The Western Wall became a slum area".It was wonderful to finally be able to see the Western Wall again, the Kotel.                                         

 Their planned mass attack, like THE WALKING DEAD aiming at Israel  with ammunition and tanks, had turned against themselves.  Both sides were stuck with Israel's surprise win.  Israel had to win; they had no place to run to.  The Arabs sulked all the way back to their own states in defeat.  The aftermath of this short war was monumental, earth changing, and the Middle East would not get over it.  
                                                      
This was the biggest defensive effort Israel had to put into these 6 days.  When it was over, they found they were to administer territories they had won.  The land they received had been held by Jordan, illegally, but they had held it.

It had started in May, actually, in 5 stages.  Syria, Egypt and the Soviet Union spread rumors-gossip-false news that Israeli forces were on the Syrian frontier.  In those days the UN was telling the truth that Israel wasn't there, and nobody listened.  It was Egypt's pretext for putting their own army in Sinai-90,000 men and 900 tanks.  Then Egypt demanded that the UN Emergency Force leave the scene.  They had been sitting out there between Egypt and Israel.  Good-bye-UN Forces. "In 1950, Jordan annexed the territories it had captured in the 1948 war–-eastern Jerusalem and the West Bank. The April 24th resolution declared “its support for complete unity between the two sides of the Jordan and their union into one State, which is the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, at whose head reigns King Abdullah Ibn al Husain...”

 Egypt closed the Straits of Tiran to ships wanting to dock in Israel, and they CALLED FOR WAR.  Egypt led the way, and the Arab States formed a war pact against Israel.  jordan's army followed.  Israel watched for 3 weeks a buildup of men, weapons and their tanks.  The Great Powers and the UN did nothing, so on 5th June, war started.  Syria and Lebanon joined them.  Behind them as backup were the armies of Iraq, Algeria, Kuwait, Sudan and the whole Arab nation.                                       
                                                         

This meant that there were about 250,000 troops of Arab forces against Israel.  Nearly half of them were in Sinai.  Nasser had moved 100,000 men an 1,000 tanks into Sinai.  The Arabs had more than 2,000 tanks and 700 aircraft which were ringing around Israel, on the ready for attack.  These other Arab states quickly made preparations for a unified attack on Israel, complete with agreements between Nasser and King Hussein of Jordan.  The Arab world was seized with war hysteria.

Israel had been in stand-by mode for over 2 weeks now.  They did a pre-emptive strike.  At the end of the 6 days, Israel had conquered enough territory to more than triple the size of the area it controlled, from 8,000 square miles of teeny Israel to have 26,000 square miles.  Israel had won the Sinai, Golan Heights, Gaza Strip and  Judea and Samaria (West Bank).  The surprise victory enabled Israel to unify Jerusalem which had had a barricade dividing east from west though it.

The high cost for Israel for this win was losing 777 to death and 2,586 wounded.  That was a lot for her.  In proportion to her total population, it was like the USA losing what she did after 8 years of fighting in Vietnam.  Yet, if she hadn't won then, what would have happened to Israel and its population?  They would have all been massacred.  Israel would be no more.  Throughout it all, there were times of miracles that saved so many Israelis.  One has to believe that G-d was with them.  

Israel destroyed the armies massed along its frontiers and menaced its vital city centers.  
                                                       

Unemployment seems to be a problem all the time with Middle Easterners.  Before 1948, Emir  Feisal was looking forward to his Arabs learning skills from the Jews entering the country and creating their own homeland.  

"Unemployment rates in Egypt, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Tunisia and Yemen (the MENA 7) have remained stubbornly high, particularly among youth (15–24 years) with an average rate of 22 percent for young males and 39 percent for young females . Some estimates show that the youth unemployment rate is as high as 40 percent in Tunisia and even higher in the inland governorates. The latest official figures put the youth unemployment rate in Iran at 25 percent while unofficial estimates suggest that the real figures are as much as double that rate. Except for Lebanon, the gender gap in unemployment is large: the female youth unemployment rate is almost three times the male youth unemployment rate in Egypt and double in Iran, Jordan and Yemen. Female youth unemployment rates in Egypt remains at 65 percent, Jordan and Yemen at 50 percent and Iran at 40 percent."
From 1967's war, the economy of their administered areas has been transformed from a condition of stagnation and unemployment as Israel had found it was in shambles to one of growing prosperity.  Israelis were on a high.  They wanted to do so much good for the people they were administering, so that they would want to be happy, satisfied with their lot in life, and peaceful 
                                                    If you eat the fruit of the labor of your hands, you will be happy and prosperous.

In September 1967, nearly 11% of the labor force in Judaea and Samaria was unemployed.  By September 1972, less than 2% of the force of 134,000 were jobless.  That's an improvement seen within 5 years with a change in administration.  At first, work was found by schemes of public undertakings;  road building and afforestation.  Later, employment in Israel of workers from the areas was permitted and labor exchanges were opened up.  

In the Gaza Strip and North Sinai, 15% of working men were jobless after the war.  By 1972, 98% of a labor force of 64,000 was employed.  Refugees were treated in the same way as local people in the matter of employment, whether for local special schemes or for work in Israel.  The latter is largely provided through 18 labor exchanges.

The number of workers employed daily in Israel rose from 4,000 at the beginning of 1969 to an estimated 55,000 in mid 1972.  Average net daily local earnings rose from IL4.00 in 1966 to IL9.25 in 1972.; daily earnings in Israel were approximately IL13.  Farm workers were 39% of the total employed,  workers in crafts and industry 13.8%, and in building and public works 14.5%
                                                                       

Every minute after the 67  on Israel's side was spent with the goal of having peace within secure borders.  Not the Arabs.  They went home and then straight to Africa, gathering together in Khartoum in August for a Summit Conference about what to do and how to react after losing and well planned attack to wipe out Israel and drive them all into the sea.  They came up with 4 principals.
1.  No peace with Israel.
2.  No negotiations with Israel.
3.  No recognition of Israel.
4.  Demand: Palestinians can live in their "own country" which is their "right".  
     
   Facts remain that this was not their "own country."  Palestinians followed the Jews into the country of Palestine in 1880 when the Russian Jews entered.  Those that had been there had been taxed out by the Ottoman Empire already and with Jews entrance, had found willing buyers for G-d forsaken neglected land laid waste into swamps, attracting mosquitoes carrying malaria, deserts and an occasional marauding Bedouin on camel who was there to raid whomever had wandered into his path.  Land owners asked for ungodly prices for this run-down land,  and the Jews paid.  This was the Jewish ancient land, and had their ancestors' stories lying underground and even above at times.  They and their ancestors had prayed 3 times a day to return and now they had.  They had reached the unbearable point in Europe of life, and needed their home that their ancestors had been burned out of.  Like the swallows of Capistrano, they found their way back!  Dare I say it--the prodigal son hath returned.  

Some Arabs were happy with their return, and the educated and cultured Emir Feisal of Arabia was one of them.  He and Chaim Weizmann worked together in Paris and elsewhere making commitments for each of themselves for the end of WWI and land being held by the allies such as Palestine.   One Arab not happy with the Jews' return was Haj Amin al-Husseini, who had become the Sherif of Jerusalem through the dealings of an English Jew on the mandate team  who rewarded him to this position already.  
                                                     

Lots has happened since then.  Israel removed all their own Jews from Gaza to give to Palestinians in the name of peace, which was not the best move as it gave them a platform from which to attack with rockets, mortars and missiles.  They have been living up to the Khartoum Conference.  
                                                       
Arabs refused to deal with Israelis in the administered areas, and instead had Gaza and their own government.  They voted in Hamas-the terrorists.  Their skills for the work force have turned into tunnel making for sneaky attacks into Israel and in retrieving illegal weapons to use on Israel.

Israel is such a small state and so much is expected of her.

4 Countries Attacking Israel in 1967 With Outcome of Occupation of Judea-Samaria and Gaza, and What That Really Meant

Israel's enemies were greedy who stuck together in attacking Israel on June 5, 1967.  Israel had to fight a defensive war.   These neighbors had refused to accept Israel's right to exist.  
                                                     

They all escalated in their attacks throughout May, and by June had created the Six Day War with the unbelievable outcome of Israel having won the battle by June 10th.  The Soviet Union had helped it get started by also spreading false reports of a concentration of Israel's forces on the Syrian frontier.The UN had countered that by letting countries know it wasn't true, but they preferred to believe it.  Egypt went ahead and demanded that the UN Emergency Force leave the scene and they complied.  They had acted as a barrier between Egypt and Israel.  Now Egypt closed the Straits of Tiran, and led the countries in the attack.  It was Egypt, Jordan, Iraq and Syria who attacked this little country.   They were her closest neighbors.  
                                                                              

Palestinians had not made any claims on Judea-Samaria which were the lands of the bible, Israel's ancient lands.  Of ancient Israel, Judea was the southern section, surviving the Assyrian assault in 722 BCE and then later with Solomon's death.  Samaria referred to the  section around Jerusalem.  In these 6 days of battle, they came back into Israel's hands and out of Egypt's and Jordan's.  These 2 Arab countries had occupied the land for 19 years up to 1967.  Judea and Samarian Arabs had become Jordanian citizens.  
                                                    

13 countries had actually participated in some ways.  Yes, this is shocking. 
It was a real miracle that Israel won against such odds.  We haven't been forgotten.

The PLO Covenant of 1964 did not say anything about a creation of Palestine from these two territories.  It called for the destruction of Israel and replacing it with Arab rule.  After 1967 they amended its Charter with a claim on the Territories because Israel had captured them.  Now they wanted them and felt they would have had them if they had won.  You'd think 4 armies to one little one would have won, wouldn't you.  They had thought it would be easy.

1. NO peace with Israel
2. NO recognition of Israel

NO Peace partner stepped up to the plate to negotiate with Israel from 1967-1993.  Israel administered the Territories and tried to improve the lives of the Palestinian Arabs.

1. Judea-Samaria per capita income rose 80% between 1967 and 1973.  
2. Unemployement in Gaza dropped to 2%.
3. Infant mortality plunged from 60 to 15 per 1,000 births between 1968 and 2000.
4. Israel spent $ millions of dollars to improve refugee camps. 
5. Palestinian children in school rose 102%.
6. Illiteracy dropped to 14% for adults over age 15.  

Israel's Claims:
I. LEGAL CLAIMS
  A.  The British Mandate of 1920-1948 was the last legal sovereign authority for the Territories through the League of Nations.  
  B.  Jordan and Egypt illegally held them from 1948 to 1967.  
  C.  No government formally replaced the mandate's jursdiction.
  D.  Mandate's guidelines called for Jews to settle the area, even called it the Jewish Homeland.  

II. HISTORICAL CLAIMS
  A. Judea and Samaria (West Bank, called by Jordan in 1951) were settled by Joshua and Exodus slaves from Egypt (Jews)-the cradle of Jewish civilization
  B.  Jews had continuous presence here until 1948 birth of Israel on May 14th and ensuing war when Jews were killed in territories and about 10,000 Jews were expelled by Jordanians.

III. SECURITY-RELATED CLAIMS
  A. Arab states launch attacks against Israel from the Territories.  Look at Gaza this moment.  
  B. UN Resolution 242-called for bilateral negotiations to give Israel more secure borders for greater regional stability. 
  C.  Till 1988, PLO called for a Palestinian state to REPLACE Israel.  They did not call for a 2 state solution.  
  D. Negotiations up to this date show Arabs not interested in a 2 state solution with a Palestine next to an Israel.  Their 2 state solution is more like Gaza and West Bank as the 2 states of Arabs and NO Israel.

The Jews' right to settle the land is a legal right assured by treaty and specifically protected by Article 80 of the UN Charter...The Jewish right of settlement in the area is equivalent in every way to the right of the existing Palestinian population to live there."

1. 1967-1977  ISRAEL ALLOWED 76 Jewish communities to be built in the Territories on undeveloped land to ensure security.  Survivors of the Gush Etzion block returned to their own previous land  to rebuild that Arab forces had captured and destroyed in the 1st 1948 War.  

2. After 1977, 74 more Jewish communities were built in the Territories on unallocated govenment land.  

3. 2005, the 150 communities included about 200,000 Israelis living on less than 2% of Judea-Samaria's land.  

4. 80% of the Jews live in communities close to the GREEN LINE, which are the suburbs of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
